How i know if my iMac 27'' has a fusion drive ?

hi
recently i bought a new iMac 27"
i wanna be sure if i have the fusion drive or not !!

You can tell for sure if you click on the Apple menu at the top left of your screen and click on About This Mac.  Then click on More Info, and click on the Storage tab.  If you've got a Fusion drive you'll see something that looks like this:
You'll note the display above shows Hard Drive + Flash Storage, but it acts as a single hard drive.
I hope this answers your question.

  • How do I transfer my applications from a 2010 iMac to a new 2013 iMac that has a Fusion Drive?

What is the best way to transfer my Applications from a 2010 iMac to a 2013 iMac that has a Fusion Drive. I am particularly concerned about losing all my old mail. My documents have already been transferred.

The best way is to make a backup of your old iMac. Do this either by cloning to an external hard drive through SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. OR Use Time Machine.
Then set up your new iMac using either Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant.

  • How to know whether balance carry forward has happened or not

How to know , whether balance carry forward has happened or not for a perticular GL account or for the company code as a whole?

If the account is a balance sheet account, you can merely look at the beginning balance for the same balance sheet account for the beginning of the next fiscal year FS10N. The beginning balance will equal the previous year's ending balance. Since this does not happen automatically, you will know that carry forward has not been done if a balance sheet account has no beginning balance in the following fiscal year.
If you are talking about For P&L GL accounts, you can check the acvitity in the retained earnings accounts to make sure that they have been updated for the P&L activity. You can identify the retained earnings account by looking at the master data for the account in the section "P&L statmt acct type" and pulling up the menu to see the actual retained earnings account number.
You can perform carry foward (GVTR) as many times as you want but normally once it has been ran, any postings to a  previous fiscal year are automatically carried forward to the current year after that initial run.

  • How do i upgrade my iMac to two TB hard drive start to finish?

How do I upgrade my Imac to two TB hard drive start to finish?

Those are definitely good drives. The OP lists his iMac as a 2011 unit, so it should have a Thunderbolt port on it. If money isn't an object, he could probably put together a RAID unit using Thunderbolt. I think OWC is selling an Thunderbolt hub of some sort. He could do all this, get good performance, and not even need to bother cracking the case. It's a lot easier and convenient working on an external drive than it is having to service an internal drive. He just needs to steer clear of some of the low power/backup drives.
Just my two cents, of course.

  • How to know if your internal battery has died

How do you know if your internal battery has died without pulling it out of the computer and with out a battery tester?

    Hi, REMeeks -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
One way to do that is to make sure the date and time are correct, then shut the machine down and unplug it. Wait about an hour, then plug it in and start it up again. Check the date and time - if they are still correct, the battery is probably still good enough.
Unplugging the machine is important - even when the machine is turned off, if it is still plugged into live power it will draw a bit of current in order to maintain PRAM and the clock chip. By unplugging it you force it to use the battery; if that is too weak, the date and time will revert to original default.

  • Unable to install Windows on an 2010 iMac with home-made Fusion Drive

    Hi there,
I've been very happy using mi iMac eversince I installed the SSD alongside the HDD.  Only recently I tried to install Windows 7 but it doesn't seem to work.  The installer runs, it seems as though Windows is installing but it doesn't ever seem to be able to boot.  I've tried countless times.  Everytime it boots to Windows it shows nothing but just a black screen with the cursor blinking at the top left corner.
Now, when I home-made the Fusion Drive the Mac OS was only 10.8.2 or older and I know that with 10.8.3 Apple has made improvements towards boot camp and especially the 3TB HDDs.  I wonder if this could have anything to do.
Anyway, please enlighten me as to what is it that I need to do to make it work.  I've been reading something about the position in which the Windows partition resides compared to GUID and EFI but honestly I have just the tiniest idea about all that.  Just for the record, the following is what shows in the Terminal after diskutil list command:
    diskutil list
    /dev/disk0
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *256.1 GB   disk0
       1:                        EFI                         209.7 MB   disk0s1
       2:          Apple_CoreStorage                         255.7 GB   disk0s2
       3:                 Apple_Boot Boot OS X               134.2 MB   disk0s3
    /dev/disk1
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *1.0 TB     disk1
       1:                        EFI                         209.7 MB   disk1s1
       2:          Apple_CoreStorage                         942.3 GB   disk1s2
       3:                 Apple_Boot Boot OS X               650.0 MB   disk1s3
       4:       Microsoft Basic Data                         57.0 GB    disk1s4
    /dev/disk2
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:                  Apple_HFS Fusion Drive           *1.2 TB     disk2
    Hope you can help..!

Hello again, by reading a couple of posts I learnt the steps and so, using an external OS I repartitioned the two internal drives making sure the Windows partition wasn't part of the Fusion Drive.  I was very excited as I was sure it would work and went ahead and started the Win7 installation even before the MacOS was restored into the iMac.
No good news though.  The installer run as expected however, when the time came for the iMac to boot from the newly installed Windows7, all I saw was a blank screen and a blinking dash at the top left corner of the screen.
Lastly, this morning I woke up to see that my old system was fully restored from Time Machine external back up.  I also leart that using the Boot Camp Assistant I could remove the Windows partition that I created on Terminal from the external OS, which was surprising, I honestly thought that that partitioning arrangement would be off-limits for the Boot Camp Assistant.
Still, I haven't been succesfull installing Windows back to my Mac, can anybody help?

  • 27" iMac:  i7 vs. Fusion drive upgrade?

    Hi all -
Thanks for all the previous support on the purchase of a new iMac.  I tend to keep my computers for a long time, so I tend to be very overcautious when buying a new.  If my history is a guide, I will have this one for many years, too.  I am going to buy a new 27" iMac (woo hoo!) and I am wondering about upgrades to the system.  I have been debating between the i7 processor, but also the Fusion drive, and I wanted to solicit opinions if either would be a good upgrade for me.
The main uses of the computer would be:
    Photos: Aperture
Browser:  I use this for a small business, and I have multiple windows going throughout the day
Basic Numbers and Keynote usage (nothing too crazy)
Games (who am I kidding - I am going to use it for WoW!)
In terms of other improvements I considered, the upgrade between the 775M and the 780M video card seemed marginal at best, and the memory upgrade is something I would probably do at a later date. So, to me, neither of those seemed a good investment for me (I could be very wrong).
A very good article was shared with me regarding the i7, and how it probably would not be best for me, today.  But as I tend to keep a computer for many years (current iMac is 5+ years old) I am wondering if the benefits would be better for the future, as the computer gets older (and slower).  Also, I am considering the Fusion drive upgrade over the SATA.  I am not a patient person, especially with technology (only marginally better with people).  As neither of these could be upgraded later, based on how I've described using the machine, do either seem like good investments?
    Thanks for the feedback!

If you are looking at future proofing the Mac, the fusion drive isn't really a consideration.  It's nice, but it won't make a bit of difference five years from now.  So, your options for future proofing are upgrading the processor and the graphics card.
Of the two, more important is the graphics card.  It not how much of an upgrade it is now, but will it help the computer last longer.  In my opinion, it will.  The processor is actually less important than the video card for the future.  You can last a lot longer on a slower processor than you can on a non-optimal graphics card.  This is all arguable, but I've been following those basic guidelines for my systems of quite a while.  A computer I bought in 2009 can still play WoW on ultimate settings because I bought the best video card I could afford, skimping some on the processor.  Not that WoW is that hard on a graphics card, but since you mentioned that's what you play, I thought it was a good example.
Memory.  Memory is a good upgrade, but do it yourself.  If you don't feel you can afford it right now, then get the base amount of 8gb, and wait until you can add more.  Personally, I would (and did) purchase Crucial memory from Amazon, 16gb for $140.  That brings you up to a total of 24gb, when you feel you want or need it.  But it doesn't have to be now.
The fusion drive is very nice.  It is very fast, and if you can afford it, I'd certainly recommend it.  But the speed gain doesn't really help that much for the future.
I recently purchased an iMac.  While I was deciding what I could afford, I always knew I'd put the 780 in the machine.  Everything else was negotiable.  Personally, I went with the i7, the 780, and a 1tb fusion drive, plus 16gb aftermarket memory.  Of those things, I'd give up the i7 first, as it has the least affect on what I do.  Next would be memory.  But I'd want the fusion drive (I've been using computers with SSDs), and I'd insist on the 780.
    Enjoy.

  • How do i install Windows on SSD with a Fusion Drive?

    Hello everyone,
i currently have a perfectly working iMac late 2013 with 1TB Fusion Drive.
I would like to install Windows INSIDE A SSD PARTITION.
Classic bootcamp will store Windows inside the mechanical hd and this slows things...
How do i put windows inside the SSD? Does anyone have a step by step tutorial?
    Thanks.

What is the purpose of this?
I have my drive formatted case sensitive on purpose for more security and stability.
Why on earth would y'all choose to do this?
