How I make make a ringtone in iTunes 12?

can somebody help me with this issue?

No razmee209:  itunes 12 has changed all that. Its just not there. Under File - Devices shows a restore item but everything there is greyed out and inaccessible.  But thank you again for the effort - please don't stop. I will advise when and if I resolve it. Have you upgraded to itunes 12 by the way?  if not DON'T

  • Can you still make your own ringtones in iTunes 10.6?

Hi there. I looked for this question but didn't see it anywhere. I've made several custom ringtones for myself in the past using the method that is all over the www, which involves copying the AAC version of a song, setting it's duration, deleting from itunes and changing the extension and all that. Everything seems to work except that when I get to the part where I change it's extension and double click it to make iTunes import it as a ringtone there is no limit on the duration. Ie, it always plays the whole song. Doing some Google searches I see some things out there that Apple took the ability to make your own ringtone out of iTunes 10. Is this so? Do you have to buy them and if you have to buy them can you then edit them to the length you want? I have access to garage band if needed or will buy an app if needed. If app can you recommend?
    Thanks,
    Mark

I usually use a different method, however this website http://audiko.net/ is a very easy method to do this with.

  • How do I create a ringtone in iTunes 10.2.2?

I have found an article that shows how to create a ringtone in iTunes 9.2 and it does not seem to apply to iTunes 10.2.2
Can I safely download 9.2, create a ringtone in the iTunes Store and not affect my current application?
    Thanks for the help,
    eAL

I am completely unable to use a purchased "ringtone" as a ringtone because iTunes will not recognize it as such. I have tried the instructions in the above article (numerous times), and found the same instructions all around google.  I can NOT move a 30 sec clip I purchased today on iTunes from the music library to the ringtones on my iMac.  It is my understanding from hours of researching this problem, that music sold on iTunes from a computer can NOT be used as ringtones because they are not truly ringtones??  Instead, I have to purchase music from the iPhone under the iTunes App > More > Ringtones.  Is this correct??  I'm so beyond frustrated.  Mac is NEVER this difficult.  Why on earth would anyone want to purchase a 30 sec. clip of a song and NOT be able to use it as a ringtone?  If this is truly the case then there should be a disclaimer in iTunes stating that fact.
I also discovered while following instructions from another post, that the song I just downloaded today is not under the "purchased" section of my iTunes account, yet it is in my music library.  Huh??  How can that be?  Is it because I've changed the format from m4a to m4r and it's now different than what I purchased?
I'm so confused and think I may have to resign myself to re-purchasing a lesser liked ringtone from the same song directly from my iPhone.

  • There is no way to make home made ringtone on itunes 9.2.0.61

i have made homemade ringtones and followed the way they tell me to get it on my iphone via itunes.....and i keep getting....this ringtone was not purchased on itunes...all i want to do....is use my homemade ringtones i made myself.....not illegally use someone elses songs or sounds....does anyone have any ideas on how i can do this using the new itunes 9.2.0.61

    I would really try this...
Edit > Preferences > Parental Control and check iTunes Store, Allow access to iTunes U and click OK. Try going to the store. Then go back to Preferences and uncheck iTunes Store
    or the LAN settings..
After sitting at my computer for HOURS on Wednesday trying almost everything everyone suggested... I logged back into my PC Thursday & somehow my iTunes store was connected. I have absolutely no idea what I did. Point is you should probably try those, turn it off then turn it back on & see if that helps. I really wish I could help. I know exactly how much of a pain this entire issue can be.. Good luck!

  • How do I create a ringtone in itunes for my iphone?

I have itunes 10 and a iphone 3gs. I'd like to use one of the songs in my libarary to create a ringtone for my phone. What are the steps to doing this?

Set your iTunes import preferences to AAC encoder / HQ
Select the track you want to convert - right click - get info - Options
Select Start/Stop Time: Make sure that the resulting playtime is less then approx 39 sec - OK
Right-click again on that track: Create AAC version
Delete the resulting file from your iTunes library
Move it from Trash to your Desktop
Rename it from .m4a to .m4r
    Double-Click that .m4r file

  • How to move newly created ringtones on itunes with extension mr4 to ringtones

I have created ringtones using i tunes. I had no problem creating them, they play well and appear under music in iTunes. One thing that I am unable to solve, is that i can't move the ringtone from music to ringtone tab on the right. I tried dragging it, didn't work. And I also made sure the tones were checked in preferrences. Does anybody can help me or guide me with the issue, will appreciate that.

Chris, you are incredible! Can't tell you how much happier and grateful to you. I was struggling last evening for hours and so frustrated.
It worked. And you explained so well each step.
You will be my first choice to ask something if I need.
I wish I could give you one million points for that.
    Cheers.

  • How do I redownload a ringtone from iTunes on iOS 7

I downloaded a ringtone earlier and now it is missing. When I go into iTunes and look in purchased it doesn't show the ringtones section.

    You don't.
Ringtones are a one time only download.
As always, it is your responsiblity to back up your purchases.
You could try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception.

  • How can I synch a ringtone with iTunes Match

    Hi all,
I am using iTunes Match and I've made a song into a ringtone.
I see the song in my iTunes in a folder named "ringtones" so I suspect Apple recognises it as a ringtone.
When I synch my iPhone (5s) however, I can't find the ringtone in my iPhone.
So either I'm searching in the wrong place, or it isn't synchronised.
Because I am using iTunes Match for my music, I suspect that could be causing the problem.
    Any tips?
    Best regards,
    Peter

I've tried to follow the step-by-step guide.
However, I don't have the option "Creat AAC version". When I go and check via Finder, my songs already are AAC version. So I made a copy of the song in question in finder, I've double-clicked it to open in iTunes and then I adapted the playing time to 27 seconds. Afterwards I copied it my desktop, deleted the file in iTunes and changed the extension on the desktop to m4r.
When I check it in Finder, it says in the properties "ringtone" (while my other music is "Apple MPEG-4-audio"), which leads me to assume that iTunes does indeed recognizes it as a ringtone. Is this a correct assumption or not?
In the iTunes tab ringtones however, nothing appears. When I synch there's no ringtone on my iPhone.
