How i met with SAP

Hello to everybody!
What do you think about to write here, how you met SAP?
I think many ppl would be interesting to know it
Well, at university I studied at the Department of Information Technology. On the 3rd course (it was 2008) I first met with SAP. We installed training version of SAP, lologged in and wrote reports, which displays the data from the tables SFLIGHT.
At that moment, ABAP language seemed to me very inconvenient with large structures and other. I quickly finished with the reports and passed the job successfully and forget all this as a nightmare
After I graduated (2010), I began to look for work.
Familiar helped me with the search and found me a job as a programmer in a good company. I was so happy, my first job, and me, with no experience. It's hard to find a normal job, like mine (One my friend searched job for 6 month while he didn't found a job for programmer).
When i came to the firm to meet with employees and find out what I'll do, they said me: you will work with SAP, write reports, funciton modules and etc.
I was like "OMG! WTF??? I do not want to work as SAP programmer, i like Delphi and C++ and html and JavaScript and php but not ABAP!!!". it was in my mind, but my face was just smiling and i said "Ok! I'll do my best! :D"
The first few days I was learning courses, writing test reports, remembering a programming language and etc.
It wasnt hard, but all the time i though "why do I need? I do not want to learn abap!".
The only thing at that time kept me - a high pay...
After a month of work, I have not suffered anymore, and worked with pleasure. And I started to like ABAP...
Now i'm 24 years old, i like my work and i still working in that firm! (just over 19 months)

Did an in-firm apprenticeship as Computer Scientist with Focus on System integrations, i.e. Complex networking structures, Planning for IT infrastructures, OS Systems + Application Integration etc etc down to the hardware level. The greatest programming-wise achievements were petty 500-liners in powershell(Windows) bashscripts or the like, so a complete Programming-Noob.
After I was done with the apprenticeship, my company asked me "Wanna work as SAP-Developer in an indefinite employment agreement?", and I was like "mh.. I've no idea of programming and it probably isn't fun to me either, what? indefinite? Vacancy taken!". Then after half a year of suffering intolerable pain due to the SAP-vocabulary (Business-this, Business-that, everything's business so it sounds fine for the headstaff who buys the licenses...)  its incomprehensively horrible standard coding with several generations of code-dialect visible in certain programs etc etc and the fancy painted inconsistent multitudinous buttons everywhere, *blargh...well, I adjusted to it and now I'm actually having something resembling "fun" and even seem to be acceptably good at what I'm doing (Web Dynpros, Portal Development, ESS/MSS, ABAP in general, Enhancement Framework). Working for one and a half year with SAP now.
(Yet, I stayed an administrator at heart :-P)
Cheers, Lukas

  • How do link with SAP SD?

    Hi GTS experts.,
I am very new for GTS. I have got much more experience in SAP SD. How wil i start about GTS ? How do link with SAP SD?
If any having any document , Pls guide to me
    Regards.,
    Lakshmanan.S

    Hi,
You can goto the link (help.sap.com) - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_gts72/helpdata/en/b1/8dc5c62c885046ab71fdcddc6ad2c2/frameset.htm (GTS 7.2)
This would give you a better understanding. Looking at the config guides after this is suggestive.
You can also download a Business Process Guide for GTS and go through it. Helps you understand the Export and Import process and how GTS enables it. But its not restrictive i.e we can always make changes to cater to specific business needs.
From SD<-> GTS point of view, Sales Orders (SD0A), Outbound Deliveries(SD0B) and Billing(SD0C) all can be mapped based on module specific and Business Process needs. Material Master and Customer master from master data point of view.
    Few other noted items include:-
    1. Document types
    2. Item Categories
    3. Partner Functions
    and many more.
To start of with GTS has Organization structure wherein Company Codes - FTO and Plant - Legal Units are mapped. Storage location and plant combination can also me mapped.

    Dear
The followings are from SDK online help. FYI
SAP Business One SDK enables partners and customer to extend and change the functionality of SAP Business One to create industry specific functionality, develop missing functionality, and interfaces with 3rd party tools.
The SAP Business One SDK consists of:
SAP Business One Data Interface API (DI API)
A collection of COM objects called business objects. These objects describe various methods for updating, retrieving, and manipulating data in the SAP Business One database.
SAP Business One User Interface API (UI API)
A collection of DCOM objects that provide access to forms, controls within these forms, and menus. DCOM (distributed component object model) is a standard interface for object communication in distributed applications.
    DI Server
A COM service running on a server that enables multiple clients to access and manipulate SAP Business One company database, using SOAP version 1.1 messages.
    DI Java Connector
An interface to DI API objects from Java. With Java Connector, you can conveniently get or set properties and invoke methods of the DI API objects with Java-bean-style code.

    Hi Sunil,
Thanks for your reply. Actual I have not done programming so much in these 3 years but I am familiar to all basics of prgromming. Why I want to go in ABAP as in my 3 years I have worked on technical part in my project..
As I have spent only 3 years in Industry, I don't think it is a big deal to start my career with a new trun with ABAP prorgamming. Once I learn ABAP on my own I can shift to any of SAP-ABAP project within my company.

  • How to Fax with SAP R/3 4.7

    Hey guys,
i have to configure our SAP R/3 release 4.7 system, so that it is able to send a Fax. I have read about SAPconnect and the SMTP PlugIn from WebAS. I found many information about the configuration at the SAP system, but nothing about server software that is able to send a incomming SMTP mail via modem to the fax-machine of the recipient.
Can anybody propose me a software that i can use? Or can you tell me the easiest konfiguration or Systeminfrastructur to send a fax with a SAP R/3 SmartForm?
    Thanks,
    Florian

    Hi Juan,
We just went live with the "RightFax Server" in Production. The problem we are encountering with the RightFax is the return notification (outlook email) does not have the Purchase Order anywhere in the email. We currently have it set up, so that both successful & failed transmission sends an email.
I was wondering how you handled this - if at all. Do you receive email notification back from RightFax?
I understand that there's a way to modify the SAPSCRIPT to include some "FAX Commands" so that this PO number could be included in the email. Have you done this? If yes, where does the fax command have to be included - in the actual program or the form routine? Can you send me an example of any fax command that you have implemented in the SAPSCRIPT?

  • Oracle Meter Data Management Integration with SAP ISU

    Hello Everyone,
I am aware of the fact that Oracle has released a Media pack for the subject integration as discussed here and that media pack works only for SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 5 with ISU_AMI_2.
We have got OU MDM Release 2.1 Media Pack v4 and SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 4 with ISU_AMI_1 and hence Adapter in MDM won't help to achieve integration with SAP as our SAP EHP is lower than what is required for the MDM adapter. We have got SAP PI which would help the SAP End in the integration.
What are the possible work-around(s) to achieve the integration between Oracle MDM and SAP ISU without using the Media Pack/Adapter?
How does MDM exposes its services (inbound/outbound) to be consumed/triggered by External systems (i.e. SAP ISU)?
List of Services (inbound/outbound) exposed by Oracle MDM for integration?
Your time and help is much appreciated.

  • How to get web application to use Tuscany without conflicting with SAP SDO

    Hi,
We are attempting to run a web application on SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 SP1 which uses Tuscany SDO.  As it now stands We must use Tuscany because the web application will not run with the SAP SDO implementation provided by Netweaver. To ensure that Tuscany is loaded with priority, we have packaged the Tuscany JAR files and their dependencies as a heavy resource, as described here:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60642a88-95fe-2b10-d387-a245d48fc257?overridelayout=true
The final check showed that Tuscany was correctly deployed as a heavy resource and included the following JAR files:
    common-2.2.3.jar
    ecore-2.2.3.jar
    ecore-change-2.2.3.jar
    ecore-xmi-2.2.3.jar
    tuscany-sdo-impl-1.1.1.jar
    tuscany-sdo-lib-1.1.1.jar
    tuscany-sdo-tools-1.1.1.jar
    xsd-2.2.3.jar
We also verified that the web application using Tuscany has a hard reference to the Tuscany heavy resource.
However, when we try to run the web application, the following error is logged:  java.lang.LinkageError: Class commonj/sdo/DataGraph violates loader constraints
The issue is definitely due to some kind of classloading conflict with the SAP SDO library, as the application runs normally when SAP SDO is manually removed from the classpath. Doing this on a production system is unfortunately not an option, though.
So the question is: how to get web application to use Tuscany without conflicting with SAP SDO?

I took a look at the "printerReady" example.  Looks like I may be able to use the InetPing (...) function to ping through a range of IP addresses looking for a response.
Any ideas on how to find the MAC address associated with the IP addresses that respond?
We may have multiple units responding and the MAC address will allow the operator to determing which unit to connect to.
I'll try the InetPing to see how it works,
    Kirk

  • How to connect SAP R/3- System with SAP NetWeaver Portal (2004s)?

    Hello to all,
sorry, can someone help me? How can I connect SAP R/3- System with SAP NetWeaver Portal (2004s)?
    Thanks and regards,
    Galyna

    Hi,
In previous link contain this info
This describes how to connect an SAP R/3 system to SAP NetWeaver Portal using an iView
    1)      Go to System Administration
    2)      Go to System Configuration
    3)      Go to Portal Content (Right Side Panel), open that folder.
    4)      Right Click on Portal Content, a Panel is displayed select "System (from Template)".
    5)      That will display a new view on right side, now select "SAP system using dedicated application server" from
the existing templates. (Other templates are possible - for example, load balanced or through a SAProuter connection string).
For this exercise, we'll use the simplest type.
    6)      Choose next
    7)      Give the System Name and System Id (which are mandatory fields) incase you want to give any brief notes
about the system then give them in the "Description" field.
    8)      Open the Newly Created System.
    9)      Now when you want to create a New System, you have to fill four Properties they are:
"Connector" - contains basic connectivty details
"Internet transaction Server (ITS) - if you wish to use SAPGUI for HTML and/or IACs",
"Web Application Server" - if you wish to access BSPs and/or Web Dynpro for ABAP and
    "User Management".
You also need at least one "System Alias" has to be defined from the Display drop down menu.
Make sure you have set end user access in the Permissions drop down menu to all users who need to access the system
    10)  Select "Connector" property, now fill the required fields such as:
    a)      Application Host (should be fully qualified hostname) - Give the R/3 "Application Name",
which can be obtained from the SAP Logon Pad (check what R/3 system you are using, right click on it , go to the properties,
it will open a window which has the Application Server Name.
    b)      Logical System Name - Give the logical name as defined in the backend system
    c)      SAP Client - Check the Client in the backend system and give the appropriate number (3 digits)
    d)      SAP System ID(SID)* - Check the R/3 properties and give the check for System ID
    e)      System Type* - Since we are connecting to R/3, select SAP_R3 system.
    f)       System Number - This is a two digit number that you can find in the SAP Logon Pad
    11)  Select "Internet transaction Server (ITS)" property, now fill the required fields like
    a)      ITS Description à Give some Description
    b)      ITS Host Name - Same as "Application Host" of R/3 (when integrated ITS) and should be attached with the
port number of ITS Server (to get port number detailed description is given below). ex: hostname : port number
    c)      ITS Path - To get the path along with the port number you have to Log on to R/3 system. Use the
Transaction Code "SICF", it opens a new window go to:
          default_host -> sap -> bc -> gui -> sap -> its -> webgui -> SAP GUI for HTML -> right click on
that and click "Test Service'. This will open a new window, on the address bar you will find the "port number", and
the path something like (/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui). Use the path after the port number.
    d)      ITS Protocol - There are two protocols "http" & "https", select the appropriate protocol which is
visible when you opened "Test Service" window.
    12)  Select "Web Application Server" property , now fill the required fields like
    a)      Web AS Description -> Give some Description
    b)      Web AS Host Name - same as ITS Host Name
    c)      Web AS Path - usually /sap/bc/bsp/sapd)*
Web AS Protocol - should be same as the ITS Protocol.
    13)   Select "User Management" property, now fill the required fields like
    a)      Authentication Ticket Type - Since we are not using SSO leave the field
empty i.e. put in select mode. (Please note that longer term you will probably want to use SSO)
    b)      Logon Method - Select UIDPW.
    c)      User Mapping Type - In case you have administration rights then you choose "admin" or in case you
just have user rights then choose "user", better go for "admin/user".
    14)   Since all the required fields are filled appropriately now create a System Alias name, this can be done by following steps:
    a) go to Display -> Select "System Aliases" give some Alias Name, let's call it "SAP_R/3"
    15)  Now that System is created we have to create a iView which will display the given Transaction Code.
    16)  Go To "Content Administration".
    17)  Go To "Portal Content".
    18)  Go to Portal Content (Right Side Panel), open that folder
    19)  Right Click on Portal Content, a Panel is displayed select "New" -> iView
    20)  Select iView template, click next
    21)  Select "SAP Transaction iView" from the list of templates available. Click next.
    22)  Give the iView name and iView ID. Incase you want to give any brief notes about the iView then give it in "Description" field. Click next
    23)   Select "SAP GUI for HTML" radio button. Click next
    24)  Now select the system which you have create "SAP_R/3", give some Transaction Code, say SE12 (Dictionary Display). Click next and Finish.
    25)  Now Preview the iView
    26)  You will see a new Window where in SE12 Dictionary Display window is displayed.
    Regards,
    Senthil K.
