How important/good is open GL in AE?

CS4, vista 64 bit business. dual quad core. i always leave open GL acceleration off as i find adaptive resolution fastest. my card is a quadro FX 1700. middle of the road. if i was to upgrade to say the best nvidia has to offer would i then see performance benefits beyond what my cpu's can offer? or would i just end up turning off a 2.5 thousand dollar and using adaptive resolution again?

The latter... OpenGL is pretty underdeveloped and flaky in AE. The only workflow where it really makes sense is, if you limit yourself to doing color corrections with accelerated plug-ins (Hue/Saturation and a few others) and similar third-party tools like the Magic Bullet ones that either in part or in full make use of OpenGL functions. So for the time being, an affordable GeForce GT 260/280/290 will be more than sufficient (barring general compatibility issues).

Hello,
I'm currently setting up a computational cluster consisting of 16 XServes (eventually 32) and 5 Mac Pros, each of which need to simultaneously write to a single volume on a shared 10TB Promise VTrak RAID. My motivation for using XSan is data integrity and redundancy (which is critical) and not speed (which is nice, but not necessary).
For this type of setup, how important is it to have a dedicated metadata controller? Ideally, I'd like to have one XServe as a dedicated controller for both XGrid and metadata, the Mac Pros as XGrid clients and agents, and the remaining XServes as XGrid agents. Everything I read says that there will be "decreased performance" if the metadata controller is used for functions other than XSan, but what exactly is this decreased performance? I can live with some latency in data access while the metadata controller is doing other things, provided all data gets written eventually. There will be no other traffic (mail, web, etc) on this network.
I know the first thought is that with so many machines, why not just use one as a dedicated metadata controller? Again, data access isn't the primary goal here; each machine performing computations takes about a day off my computation time so I want every available asset working towards that goal. Even if I have to wait five minutes to access the data, I'm still way ahead of the game using the other machine for computations.
In the event that using a dedicated metadata controller is vital to using XSan in this situation, are there other solutions which would perhaps better suit my needs?

The question really is 'how important is the reliability of your Xsan' and because its become a single shared resource everything depends on it, this is the same in post or data centre workflows.
The ideal situation is to have no other services pulling any clock cycles from the processor because it could coincide with xsan requiring resources. The tricky thing in xsan deployment is latency reduction, the controllers and switches don't look busy and they aren't but the smooth running of the system depends on that reduced latency and when you lose it your going to run into some strange and probably intermittent problems.
Ive cut corners in the past by running open directory and DNS on the backup controller but never on the primary. Really it depends how busy the whole system is going to get but dont expect Xsan to behave simply when the latency starts to go. Its a very robust file system but it wont slow down in a linear way like a busy web server it will slow then hiccup stop, start or fall over entirely, which is not good in a critical situation.
One solution Ive used in a similar situation is a smalltree 6 port ethernet card in an xserve with all ports bound together, make sure your switch can handle link aggregation but it creates a nice big pipe to a fileshare in a situation where xsan wont work. You can't edit video like this but you can remove the server bottleneck when you have several client computers requiring big file transfers.
Another route is iSCSI but its still early days in the Apple world, ATTO now make an iSCSI initiator for Macs but I can say Ive deployed it.

Sure, the added heat sink and dissipator will help. Although a gel pad has a lot of heat capacity, meaning it has the ability to absorb a lot of heat, eventually it will saturate with heat from the MB and reach a point of stasis. Then it gets rid of heat the same way the Mac does, namely radiation and conduction into other things around and in contact with it, including air. Of course the Mac has a fan if it needs it. The gel pad doesn't.
If the gel pad is sitting on a metal surface, like a steel file cabinet or something like that, it helps to drain the heat away from the pad, and by extension, the Mac. The aluminum cookware worked like that. I had heat capacity of its own, but more importantly, it added to the surface area that was performing convection cooling. So, yes, both together give a better result.

"Quantity falls into negative inventory" Error when importing Goods Receipt through DTW

We extending the automation between our production plant an SAP Business one.
We're using DTW import "Goods Receipt PO" currently and want to extend this to internal productions based on Production Orders.
I've created three csv files to create the import. OIGN, IGN1 an SNRT (as we use serial number based products)
Some remarks:
- The stock is sufficient to do the production. No negative stock is created by this the production order.
- The used materials are all based on "backflush", so should be handled automatically
- Using the SAP GUI everything goes well. No errors.

First u need to check against the payment made as Partial or Residual or else you need to check the Vendor advance payments for this u should clear the open Items through T.code F-54 after You need to clear final T.code F-44 Complete clear Item.
Pls check for Against Advance payment you need to go F-54 and clear F-44.

How can I Import data without opening explorer. If I add Import button visual and click on it automatically opens explorer to chose exported file. But I already know location and name of exported file so I don't want that explorer to appear.

What about to have code for importing and exporting. for example:
Import(DataName, location)
Import(Collection1, "C:\User\Documents\Data\dataname")
Export(DataName, location)
Export(Collection1, "C:\User\Documents\Data\dataname")
With this code we could easily add it into timerEnd behaviour and we could make automatic backup files
Or
We could add this into save button where we do editing of our collection and save it straight to backup file
We could have the location and data name saved in local machine and call them in that import export code. This is exactly what I need if I want that data to be shared between multiple devices where all the data would be stored on server or
shared folder
And also for better user interface there should be a location picker (button visual) what would open explorer where we could chose the location instead of writing it down into an inputtext

In the Documents Template enter
Record Key     CradCode       DocDate (Record key should be the latest one)
In the Documents lines Template enter
Record Key (the same u entered in the Documents template)   LineNum ( linenum should start from 0 to onwords) Currency ItemCode Price   and Quantity
In the Batch Numbers Template enter
Record Key ( the same as u entered in the Documents Template) linenum (should start from 0 to onwords) BaseLinenum (linenum of document lines template) BatchNumber and any additional information if desired.
Its example is like this.

Import and Copy Opening – One Task & One Prompt Set

Hi Experts,
We want to create one data manager package that contains both import from BW with UI and copy opening. We ran into some issues. Maybe you can help:
We created a new process chain that contains both tasks, and created a new DM package that has both scripts. Users only want to enter parameters such as entity and time one time for both tasks...
When I commented out the Copy opening prompts, relying on the prompts from the Import from BW, I receive an error. The message:

Thanks, isn't %SELECTION% passed to the process chain? I see that the process chain RUN LOGIC contains a field SELECTION. If the value is passed, then I have to change that too?
2) If we change the value to SELECTION2, then how does this variable capture the parameters for the dimensions? I am commenting out the prompt of the copy opening script keeping the first prompt below from the import from BW in order to capture the parameters for both scripts.

Import Goods Maintenance

Hi Gurus,
My client Import goods from different countries ans kept in Customs bonded warehouse.When requires it draws the materials from the bonded warehouse to minimize the burden of Customs duty and other duties and charges.
My question is when it needs the materials it has make the stock transfer from bonded warehouse to own warehouse.So can we make a storage location for the customs because stocks are lying over there??
Any suggestions how I can MAP it in SAP???

Hi
You can maintain the Customs as a storage location in the SAP system.
For the goods receipt always use a two step approach.
In the first step using 103 movemnt you can move the goods into the Cutsoms & then perform 105 Movements on the material document. In this way you will be able to track the goods in the customs as well as pay for the goods partially.
The accounting entries will be captured only at the time of 105 movement

If they are commercial DVDs, we are not allowed to help since it would violate the ToU of these forums as it involves copyright and DRM issues. Did your friend copy a commercial DVD? If not, and it is homemade, you'll need to figure out what format the movie is in - you should be able to import the footage to iMovie and may have to use a converter to get it into a format iMovie can read. I can't help with iPhoto since I never use it.
