How (in windows 8)  could I make an screen shot of a PDF figure or table

In windows 8, How could I make an screen shot of a figure or table?

The Windows 8/RT operating system can take screen shots.  Please see the Microsoft Windows Support page below.
Take a screen shot (print your screen)
With the steps above, it is possible to capture screen shots of your entire screen or one window.
Please note that Adobe Reader Touch does not provide the functionality to extract or export any objects (text, images, tables, etc.) from a PDF document (yet).

  • How may I make my screen shots default to a .jpg instead of .png

How may I make my screen shots default to a .jpg instead of .png?
    Is there a preference somewhere?

    One easy way is:
    Changing the File Format
In order to change the file format you must firstly open up a Terminal window (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app), and type the following.
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture type TYPE
For the command to work, you need to replace “TYPE” with a valid file format, the available options are:
    png (default)
    pdf
    jpg
    jp[2 (jpeg 2000)
    gif
    tiff
    bmp
    pict
    tga
Once you have selected your format simply issues the command, placing the file format in it’s space. For example for a JPG, I would issue:
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg

  • Since upgrading to Lion, i am unable to take screen shots.  i get the message that i don't have permission to save files to the place where SSs are saved.  how can i regain the ability to save screen shots?  thanks

since upgrading to Lion, i am unable to take screen shots.  i get the message that i don't have permission to save files to the place where SSs are saved.  how can i regain the ability to save screen shots?  thanks

First of all, are you using the OS native screen capture?
If not, make sure the application you're using has been update for Lion.  I was using Snapz Pro for years, but I need to update it for use with Lion. Meanwhile Grab and the keyboard shortcuts are working on my Lion load.
If you are using the native capture mode unsuccessfully, I would run the Disk Utility and repair permissions on the drive. For some reason, even in past OS Versions, routine maintenance of permissions makes life a lot easier.

  • Certain pop up windows are not apperaing on my screen.  Save as PDF and Doc preferences never appear

Certain pop up windows are not apperaing on my screen.  Save as PDF and Doc preferences never appear, and lock me out until I press return.  So they are active, I just can't see them.  Any ideas?

They are obviously off the screen somewhere. Did you have a dual monitor set up at one time? You can try increasing the resolution of your screen to see if you can get a part to show or maybe just resrt the preferences (Cmd(Ctrl)+Opt(Alt)+Shift as you restart AI) to reset the defaults.

  • How do i change the resolution of my screen shots that i captured from my desktop?

How do i change the resolution of my screen shots that i captured from my desktop?
    Thanks.

Do you mean you want it saved with the resolution set to something other than 72 dpi when the capture is made, or do you mean you want your capture saved at a higher resolution than the captured area?
    1) If the first, there are ways to change the default capture format .png to something else, such as .jpg, .tif and a few others, but as far as I know, the resolution will always be 72 dpi. You can use Preview to change the resolution of the captured image under Tools > Adjust Size. You will get this:
If your intention is to set the resolution for professional printing defaults, then change the resolution to 300. Turn off Resample image to prevent the image from actually having more pixels added. The resolution will simply be reset from 72 to 300 dpi without changing the actual number of pixels in the image. It will also print a lot smaller since the output device will now use 300 pixels per linear inch instead of 72.
Leave Resample image on if you need to maintain the dimensions. Be aware however that scaling the image (resampling) will add a lot more pixels to the image than are there to maintain size. Expect the image to get very soft and pixelated looking when adding 417% more data to the image than it currently has.
    2) If you mean you want the OS to actually save the captured area as a high resolution image at size, that can't happen. A capture is a 1:1 grab of the display buffer. It can only capture what's there. So if you capture a 700 pixel x 500 pixel area, that's all the bigger it can be without scaling it afterwards.

  • How can I easily make a screen shot of a polar graph?

    Hi everyone,
I am using the very simple VI I have attached to display points (up to 50000 points) on a polar graph. When the screen moves over to the area where there is the graph, the big number of dots included in the graph makes everything become very very slow. I would like to know if there is an easy way to make a print screen of the graph so that I initialize back the graph to no points (or make it invisible) and just display the print screen shot of the graph.
I have already used the print screen function (+ cutting off the parts of the picture I don’t want) but this is a bit fastidious to do. Would an already made print screen function exist for this kind of graph?
    Thanks a lot,
    User

  • How to get past "could not activate iPhone" screen

Trying to wipe and start from scratch with an old iPhone 4 that I do not want to activate as a phone.  How do I get past the "could not activate iPhone" screen?  I did this once on my other old iPhone 4 and it worked without issue.

It's a Verizon/CDMA phone.  If it has a SIM, it's likely not activated and never has been.  Then again, same is likely true of my other iPhone.  "Likely" as in I have no recollection of ever asking Verizon to activate the SIM.
Again, I don't WANT to activate it.  I just want to use it like an iPod Touch.

  • How can I use QuickTime to make a screen recording that has both video and audio?

How do use QuickTime to make a screen recording that can be saved with both video and audio together?

do you know of any software that would record a QT movie playing on my Mac screen with both audio and video?
I have used Ambrosia's Snapz Pro X ($69) for years, but they are currently upgrading their Kext (Kernel Extension) software for changes inroduced by the Lion release so it might not be your best bet at this time. I also use ScreenFlow but it is a combination capture and editing utility which runs $99 and may include more features than you may need or will use. Have also tried Screenflick ($29) which, to some extent, appears to have a functionality somewhere between that of Snapz Pro X and ScreenFlow. It is a bit more complicated to set up but for the price might be the best bargin at this point. All three can capture the entire screen or a portion thereof, with or without mic/line and/or system audio. (Or at least they all will as soon as Ambrosia updates its Kext routine.)
Here is a URL link posted by QTKirk three days ago to an article that recaps of a number of currently available third-party screen capture apps from around the world several of which may interest you: http://mac.appstorm.net/roundups/utilities-roundups/10-screen-recording-tools-fo r-mac/

  • How do I make full screen button for interactive PDF

I know in Acrobat I can set the PDF to open in full screen mode. I want the PDF to open in normal view. There will be a full screen button. Click once and the PDF expands to full screen. Click again and the PDF reverts to normal size.
I wasn't sure where to post this but figured this is the place to start. Any advice on how to do this appreciated.
Here's a movie of a PDF that has the feature I'm seeking:
    Full Screen Normal Screen button
Was testing the link and I see you need QT Pro to download. Here's a zip archive of the same movie for download.
    Movie Download

The client (a woman's club) indicated that about half the women found the full screen annoying and the other half found normal view annoying. So I made it an option. Also, most PDFs I receive such as ID magazine have the option to view normal or full.
One thing I haven't figured out is how to get the page you're on to be highlighted. So if you go to page 5 in PDF, I would want the button for 5 to be highlighted in red. I ended up using page numbers but would like to be a bit more streamlined.
I received a PDF the other day and at the top when the page numbers and left/right arrows are, the page numbers read
    FC, IFC, 1, 2, etc.,
IBC, BC. I thought that was pretty cool. I imagine it has something to do with pagination in ID. Have to see if I can figure that out.

  • How to delete photos from iPod after making screen shot?

    Hello!
I just figured-out how to take screen shots with the ipod... And was playing with it for a while! heh heh
Now I have a bunch of screen shots saved to my ipod, is there a way to delete them with out connecting to iTunes?
    Any tips are appreciated.

On a Mac, iPhoto launches automatically if there are Saved Photos. In Windows XP, there's a "new device" dialog where you can select the Scanner & Camera Wizard (no view files option in XP, unlike Vista), or you can go to My Computer and you'll see an Apple® iPod device (the only thing accessible will be the Saved Photos).
I think we've covered all the OSs now.
    Hope this helps...

  • I copied a screen shot how do i paste a copy of that screen shot in an email

i took a screen shot and need to know how to paste it in an email

It depends on how you took the screen shot.
If you used the Command-Control-Shift-3 shortcut, the screen shot is on your Clipboard and can be pasted into the message.
If you used the Command-Shift-3 shortcut, the screen shot is a picture file on your Desktop and can be dragged into the message.

  • How to Use Hyperlink in XI R2 need Screen Shots

    Hi All,
Please  sent Screen Shots how to create Hyperlink in XI R2 step by step process i am new to this.
    Please help me on this.
    Thanks in advance

    Aravind,
    OpenDocument URL command syntax
An example of the syntax to use when you want to create a hyperlink on a state object to open a document with sales details for the state appears below:
    ="<a href=""http://<server_name>:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?""&sType=wid""&sDocName=DetailedSalesReport""&lsSEnterState:="Replace(State;"";"%20") + "> "State""
The below divides the example of syntax into understandable arguments, and provides an explanation for each argument.
Note: Each of the syntax arguments are joined with a plus sign in the formula bar.
    Syntax argument ========================== Explanation
"<a href=" ============= The opening HTML syntax for a hyperlink.
http://<server_name>:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp? =========== <server_name>:8080, used in this example, is
specific to the BusinessObjects Enterprise server. You can find this name displayed in the address bar of your browser's address toolbar.
Note: The port is 8080 for Tomcat web servers.
"&sType=wid" ================ The type of document to be opened, in your case, a Web Intelligence document.
"&sDocName=DetailedSales Report" =========== Your Document name(Report) Note that spaces in the name of the document are replaced with a + sign. %20 can be used in place of the +. %20 is the HTML encoding symbol for a space. This parameter can be substituted with the sDocID.
    "&lsSEnter_State:="+Replace( State;"";"%20") ==============
The prompt parameter which will be passed to the document being opened.
Notice that this argument has to match exactly with the prompt created in the first document. In this case, a single parameter is being passed (lsS).
    Additional parameters are available:
    u2022 lsM for multiple values
u2022 lsR for a range of values
The object name in brackets, State indicates the data from the main report to be passed to the linked report.
The Replace command is used with the value to replace spaces in the value with the HTML symbol for a space.
Multiple prompts can be listed in the code. You just continue to string them together with the + character to concatenate the pieces.
t">"+ State ============= Required HTML encoding and the object name that indicates to the document which data to show in the table. Once you have formatted the column in the Web Intelligence table, the State values in this case appear as hyperlinks.
"" ============= The closing HTML code for a hyperlink.
    Summerized :
    ="<a href =" + "http://webwasqwn1.ecorp.cat.com:8322/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sDocName=fsitem&lsSEnterItem Node Name:="Query 2.Item Node Name(If IsPromptAnswered("Enter FS Items") Then "&lsSEnterFS Items:="+URLEncode(UserResponse("Enter FS Items:"))) + Object + ""
    Hope it helps you!!
    Thank You!!

  • Is there a limit to how many windows can be open on a screen?

Bored at work again and playing around, is there a limit (real or theoretical) of the numbers of windows that can be open on a Mac at any given time?

There is an infinite number that can be up at any given time. Just to test it, one fun thing I like to play around with is this:
Open up a Finder window and hit Command-N, about 100 times. Then push F9 or F8 to see all the windows you opened!
It's fun to see 10,293 Finder windows open at once. To close them, just hit Command-W the same number of times, or go to Force Quit and Relaunch Finder.
    Have fun!!!
