How install solution manager using MCOD

Hello Eveybody,
I have install the IDES ECC 6.0 on single machine. Now I want to install the Solution manger using MCOD. but I dont Know How to ? Will anybody guide me how to install solution manager using MCODE,
I have HDD of 320 GB

Hello Ganesh,
For installing on MCOD, the database instance should be on the same database host. For installation when you run sapinst, you should mention the database id (DBSID) for the solution manager as the ECC6 database DBSID. It will then automatically pick the installation as MCOD.
In other words, the SAP SID during the installation should be the new system ID for solution manager but the Database SID should be mentioned as the existing DBSID.

In Solution Manager, there is an Early Watch Analysis report which is generated and which has section in the report ' Performance Indicator' in that section you will get 2 things :
1. Top 10 Transaction codes which has huge response times.
2. Top 10 program which has huge response times.
and after that you also get the list of expensive SQL statement in the report and then you can just optimize the queries and improve system performance.

Even when 32 bit Solution Manager was supported, it is very doubtful your laptop would have the required memory or diskspace to install and run the system. You can see the system requirements in the SAP installation guides.

I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2?
I checked the the software requirement for SAP Solution Manager 7.0, it only mentioned Window Server 2003 and 2008 enterprise edition.
I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition?
When I ran the Solution Manager Master Installer, the Pre-requisite Checker gave a warning message saying that it detected incompatible server version, that the server version is Windows NT 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (I guess it meant Window Server 2008 R2).

I think it is not straight forward to install SAP Solution Manager 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2.
I am installing Solution Manager 7.0 , the installation encountered error on Create Java Users step (Phase 31 of 44). When I login to SAP solution Manager system through SAP GUI. I encountered this error:
"OS release Windows NT 6.1 7601 Service Pack 1 4x AMD64 Level 6 (Mod 44 Step 2) is not supported with this kernel (700)'
I found that it is because I am installing SAP Solution Manger 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2, which the existing kernel version does not support.
Do you know which kernel I should install?

Configure TMS in fresh installed Solution Manager system

I have fresh Installed Solution manager. Configure TMS and now want to configure solution manger so that I can monitor all our SAP system from Solution manager. How I configure our SAP system in solution manager?
Also would like to know after TMS implementation if we like to use ChaRM or CTS+ so what changes required in current TMS setting? Thanks in advance.

No Deejoy, I provided you with how to resource to do the things you requested.
TMS is transport Management System.
If you want to manage transports with an enhanced product CTS+ I provided the configuration guide.
If you want to implement ChaRM, I pointed you to the Wiki.
If you want to inegrate CTS+ with ChaRM, I also provided you with resources.
And lastly, I directed you to RKT-SOLMAN which can help you configure any aspect of Solution Manager.
But I do not see where I said to manage TMS on Satellite systems you need to implement ChaRM.
Charm was only raised, because you raised it in your question.
You have all the resouces you require to address everything you raised.

Question for installing Solution Manager & ECC 5.0

Any idea for installing Solution Manager 3.2 on Windows server 2003 with Oracle9i problem when install Database Instance. Installation failed when the intallation progress went to Oracle Post-Load Action.

Hi,
The /usr/sap file system looks fine.
Could you also check the file space on the /tmp file system? This is usually less and SAPInst can fill this up very quickly.
Ideal to create a seperate SAPInst directory rather than use the default /tmp/sapinst_instdir.

Im trying to install solution manager 3.2 with oracle 9i...
I successfully created the central instance.
when creating database instance i get that error. during the load phase..I installed nonunicode installation
central instance is running. could it be that I'm using wrong code page 1100?
I'm not sure what to do its been bugging me for past few days..
And also do you know if 10g is supported with solution manager 3.2? When i installed 10g it said "no database found on this host"

I am pretty sure that DSC requires WFM. If I am right then WFM is in use and cannot be replaced unless you specify another logfile location. Look at the DSC and see how to specify a new log location that can be used for the install.
If the MSU is built correctly then you will require a reboot to update the install.
Try just doing WFM alone until you work it out.
I also recommend posting in the Management forum for any other issues that might be known.

DSC is a work in progress so many things have to be worked out as you need them. Be sure to get the latest kits. I think we are at Wave 9 now.

During installing Solution Manager, I got following errors and can't compleate installing.

I have tried with following condition.
I've copied image from DVD to
C:\EXP1
C:\EXP2
C:\EXP3
C:\EXP4
(C: is local drive)
Then compared all copied files in the local drive and DVD image. Verified all files are identical. also made all files and folder under those folder have R/W permission.
However I still get same error. ( I did this from fresh OS and new installation as well)
I used filemon.exe during installation to monitor file access. During other step of the installation, files under EXP1,2,3,4 were accessed successfully.

Hello,
The default parameters for the JVM are not adaquate for an X64 system, and seem to be for 32 bits systems.
This means when the J2ee folder is created in usr\sap...and the JVM is started with the default java parameters on an X64 system, it will fail. The installation guide should refer you to the JVM settings, but if you are using SAPJVM, then Note 1603093 has the required parameters.
As an example the maxheap needs to be set to 2048, but it will only be set to 1024.
In order to resolve, you need to find the Note for the Java parameter settings for your JVM, be it Oracle (Sun), IBM or SAP, run the configtool to modify them accordingly.
Then once this is done re-start the install, using the existing configuration file, it will advance rapidly to the point it failed, and then start he JVM successfully. Or you can start it in the SAPMMC and once you are satisfied it will start with the parameters, restart the install. This is a better method because
it is much faster if you make a mistake and it fails on a typo in a parmeter setting.
Unfortunately you cannot set the JVM paramters prior to the JVM being created, and it has just been created at the phase in which your install has failed.

I think you did not set display variable. Use this command & try again:-
export DISPLAY = <IP Address of presentation server>:0.0
And run ./sapinst
