How is Indesign CS6 different from CC?

Is there really that much of a difference or is it only a few tools and whatnot?

I guess defining the extent and value of the "whatnots" will help you determine if the new and enhanced features are of any use to you.
Adobe would maintain that they're must-haves. All depends on what you do with InDesign as to whether the value is worth it to you.

    receiver, consumer).
    Class:

  • Will I be able to open InDesign CS6 files from the latest CC version?

Considering Cloud purchase and want to check compatibility. Will I be able to open InDesign CS6 files from the latest CC version? Thanks for any advice on this.

You can open files in CC from CS6 and earlier.
Due to updates to the text engines you might notice a text reflow - note that text won't reflow until it's interacted with.

BPEL and ESB are similar on higher level,
they can both be used to integrate system/process and make data flow between them.
    BPEL is for designing process
1.) Where human task is involved
2.) Lot of complex looping is there
    ESB
1.) Its designed for integrating different system/process and make data flow between them,
2.) Its designed to do this very purpose, so fast in comparison to BPEL to do this

  • Is Photoshop CS6 different from CS5?

I recently went back to school to expand my career skills and the next class in line for me, is Photoshop. I’m trying to find out if I’m OK with CS5 or if I need to upgrade to CS6. As I just mentioned, I currently have CS5. For a couple classes I completed this year (Flash and Dreamweaver), I was able to use CS5 without any issue, limitations, or instances of “Yeah that can be done, but only on CS6.” I also did not have instances in the class lessons of “You can do this, but not if you’re on CS5.” However, from what I heard/read, Photoshop seems to have had the most significant changes in the CS6 update.
    Here are my questions:
Please, from a technical perspective only, do I need to upgrade to CS6?  Will being on CS5 on my home computer put me at a disadvantage in class when I'm being taught via CS6? Is Photoshop CS6 significantly different from CS5 where if being taught via CS6, I would be lost or very limited on CS5? When you upgraded to CS6 did you feel like you were learning a new program, or was it the same as CS5, just with a few new “nice to have” features?
Again, please provide information from a technical perspective only. If the decision to spend $2000 for CS6, was based on preference, I would have had CS6 a long time ago. Also, please don’t recommend CC because I’m not ready to upgrade to subscription based software yet.
    Thanks!

Have you tried running the trial version of CS6 for 30 days to get a feel for the software and perhaps answer for yourself the many questions you obviously have?

  • How download InDesign CS6 trial?

I am trying InDesign Creative Cloud and I want to try InDesign CS6. But in CC the Apps do not include CS6. And on the InDesign CC Downloads page, there is no tab to select it on the left of Features. Can you tell me how I can download InDesign CS6 to try?

You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

    Alternate Trial Resource:
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • We have an applescript that will batch print InDesign CS6 files from a folder to a laser printer using an InDesign print preset. The script does not work in OS X Yosemite. The script errors out with the print preset. Any thoughts?

    tell application "Finder"
      activate
set thefolder to choose folder with prompt "Select a Folder with InDesign Files to be Printed" as text
set thePath to thefolder as text
set the selected_items to every item of folder thefolder
if the selected_items is {} then
      beep
display dialog "Please select a folder with InDesign files before running this script." buttons {"Cancel"} default button 1
      end if
      repeat with aFile in selected_items
      tell application "Adobe InDesign CS6"
      activate
      with timeout of 600 seconds
set user interaction level of script preferences to never interact
      open aFile
      tell document 1
      tell print preferences
set active printer preset to "Catalog Pages"
set page range to all pages
      end tell
      print without print dialog
      close saving no
      end tell
      end timeout
      --might need this delay
      --delay 10
set user interaction level of script preferences to interact with all
      end tell
      end repeat
      tell application "Finder"
      activate
display dialog "Batch Printing is complete!" giving up after 5
      end tell
    end tell

    Hi
After I put a small delay in as shown, your code ran fine, tested on about twenty ID files, using ID CC 2014, OSX 10.10.2
    tell document 1
    delay 0.5   -- delay added
      tell print preferences
set active printer preset to "Catalog Pages"

  • How xapp Analytics is different from CRM analytics and sem

    Hi,
I need some information on how the xapp analytics is differnet from CRM analytics.  Is this an upgrade functionality or it is  atotaly a different Analytics aplication.  If it is a new process need some brief info on this.
    Thanks
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
    Yes, they are totally different.
CRM Analytics is CRM specific, and built in CRM and BI (RFM, CLTV, Data Mining, etc).
SAP xApp Analytics are applications (iViews) built with the Visual Composer (i.e. in the SAP NetWeaver Portal). They are composite applications that can source data from many places, and cover both horizontals and verticals (ie. in the first release of SAP xApp Analytics, there were 110 applications, of which 8 were based on CRM data).
Perhaps, the easiest way to think about it:
    - BI Content is the pre-delivered industry and application specific content for SAP NetWeaver BI.
    - SAP xApp Analytics is the pre-delivered industry and application specific content for SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer.
Check out the Analytics and Visual Composer pages on SDN for more info.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Ryan

  • InDesign CS6 placing from Word

    Any suggestions please.
When I placed a file from Word in CS5 and chose the remove styles and formatting with preserve local overrides on, the file would be placed in my body font.
In CS6 when I choose the same options, the Word formatting is preserved. The styles don't come through, but why isn't it formatting to my body style as it used to. Cheers

  • Issues opening .idml file in InDesign cs6 originally from CC

    Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has had "issues" when opening an .idml file in cs6
which was saved out of InDesign CC.
    More specifically, the following:
Some image links acquire an Opacity Effect of 43%.
And not every image in the file — only a handful (10 out of 50) images.
The (original) InDesign CC file has their opacity set at 100% (ie - no transparency applied at all)
Are .idml files typically buggy like this when opening in previous version?
Is this kind of irratic behavior to be expected?
    Is there a fix?
Any input would be most appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Lester

    Laubender wrote:
@Lester – can you check, if the same problem occurs with IDMS files (Snippets) in InDesign CC ?
Just export a sample image to IDMS, create a new file and place the snippet.
IDMS is directly related to IDML. It uses the same properties and XML structure.
    Just for testing purposes…
Hm. Your workaround is really no workaround. It is a dead end…
    Uwe
    @Laubender
I selected one of the problematic images in cc, exported as idms. Then, created a new page in cs6 and placed that snippet file. It did not acquire the 43% opcaity. I'm not positive I did exactly what you were suggesting...or if this info is helpful.
    thx

  • How to get CS6 serial from CC membership?

I have bought CC 3month membership card, and activated it.
I need to install CS6 Flash pro. I found CS6 installer, but it needs CS6 serial.
How can I get a serial for CS6 with CC membership?
I havn't installed any CC application yet.
    Thanks,
    Tanaka

    you're welcome.
you actually don't need to install any cc or cc 2014 apps.  you just start their download and that installs the cc desktop app.  using that you can download cs6, cc and/or cc 2014 apps (as you probably now know).

  • How SunOS, Linux & Unix differs from each other?

    Hi,
I have worked on Windows based Oracle database. Now, I have to work on Oracle which is Sun OS based. I have never worked on either of Sun OS, Linux or Unix.
I am confused whether Sun OS is same Unix or Linux? Whet should I learn?
    Please help me.
    Thanks

so if you are to work with Oracle on Sun OS (Solaris) why not trying out at home ?
You can go with Linux first and after you became a real Unix freak and want to try a VERY userfriendly Unix, you may try Solaris10 on your box. It is Open Source like Linux and can be downloaded free at sun.com (the stable release used for production systems). The newest Oracle releases and patchsets are available for it (32 and 64 bit). It offers some new concepts and (what I like most) is a system usable for home apps up to really big and mission critical applications (you can use it in production systems with 100 or more CPUs).
I am using it even as my desktop system in my office since 2 years.
I got nerved by those Linux-Distributions always doing something in a different way in each new release. But sure, the driver support for some taiwanese hardware there is still better than with Solaris.
Solaris is IMHO not too different anymore in terms of user friendlyness (Gnome is just called Java Desktop System, KDE is also available) and there is a real professional open source community behind it at opensolaris.org. Due to it's kernel qualities there are discussions about releasing Solaris under GPL and creating the GNU operating system from it.

  • Operating system: how to switch CS6, LR from Win to Mac?

i have bought both cs6 and Lightroom in window environment , recently I plan to switch to Mac system.  Please advice how to proceed with the migration. Thank you

CS6 for Windows requires a platform swap: Order product | Platform, language swap
You'll be issued a new Mac serial number and you won't be able to use your Windows serial number any more.
The serial number for Lightroom is multi-platform. Just download the Mac installer onto your Mac and enter your existing serial number.
