How is it possible to upgrade from OS x 10.4 to OS X Lion
I wish to install the latest MAC OS X version on my MAC PRO running at now a OS x ver 10.4.11. Probably I will need some distinct steps but I don't know if it is possible and convenient. Has anyone installed the Lion version starting from an old OS X 10.4 version?
Best regards
F.Scognamiglio
you can jump, you just can't "fly" Lion w/o for some insanity.
Note: there will be no support for PowerPC, no Rosetta.
Make sure your software is ready. RoaringApps has an app for that!
System Profile and Activity Monitor can help spot "PPC" also.

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with bootcamp 3.3 on my Imac 2011. I need to updgrade to mountain lion. If I first upgrade to mountain lion, how do I go about upgrading from bootcamp 3.3 to latest bootcamp for mountain lion?
I have seen a lot of discussions upgrading from Boot Camp 4 to 5 but no answers upgrading from boot camp 3.3 to 5. My worry is that if I upgrade from snow leopard to mountain lion, that my bootcamp partition will no longer be able to boot up. There seem to be a lot of threads suggesting problems that are possible. Has anyone gone through this upgrade with success? Before doing any installation restart OSX from your 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD and use Disk Utility to Both Repair The Disk and Repair the Permissions of your Macintosh HD.
Next remove your Snow Leopard DVD and restart your iMac into OSX.
Update to the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard by clicking the Apple icon and choose Software Update to install Snow Leopard v10.6.8, the latest version.
Use Time Machine to make a Full Backup of your Macintosh HD.
Shut down and restart into Windows by holding the Option key at the chime and selecting Windows.
Now use Windows Backup to make a Full Image Backup of your Windows Installation to a removable drive.
Shut Down and Boot back into OSX.
Open the Mac App Store from your Dock to buy and download Mountain Lion. Then follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
Upgrading your OSX to 10.8 should not effect the Windows Partition at all since you are only upgrading the Mac side. You should not have to run the Boot Camp Assitant 5 Utility in OSX at all.
Your Boot Camp 3.3 Windows Support Drivers et. al only effect your Windows installation and should continue to run fine after upgrading.
Which version of Windows do you already have installed on the existing Boot Camp Partition?
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit? -
Is it still possible to upgrade from CS4 to CS6 after the upgrade offer ended in 2012?
Is it still possible to upgrade from CS4 to CS6 after the upgrade offer ended in 2012? I have not found the option to do so.
My family owns and operates a non-franchise entertainment facility (miniature golf, laser tag, arcade, pizza, parties...). I have a design background, so among the many things I do here I'm also able to create marketing materials and an online presence in-house which would be too expensive for us to outsource. Over a five year period, that's given us a software cost of right at $1 per day since our CS3 license ran around $1800. Our customers are the public, and the package we try to push for walk-in traffic costs $50 for four people. In exchange, they get unlimited mini golf, a game of laser tag, and a large pizza. Not a bad deal. If we were to earn $1800 from that group of four every five years, assuming they spent $50 each visit, that'd bring them here close to two times every three months. For our type of business in a city of 118,000 tight-fisted Germans, that's about right.
What, are you trying make me feel GUILTY about being upset that Adobe's new strategy negatively affects my livelihood?
As far as Adobe's policy change announcement goes, I have no idea how it was announced. I DO know I was not sent an email notification, though they have my email address and record that I'm a CS3 owner. Presumably it was announced somewhere on Adobe's website, and further disseminated through various digital and print trade publications. I respect Adobe's right to not reverse its decision. If our business decided to put a sign on the front doors (since we don't have contact info for all of our past customers) saying we'd closed that night at 5 PM instead of 11 PM as usual, we aren't obligated to let in latecomers. But I'd also recognize their right to be mad at us for wasting their travel time. What I WOULDN'T do is tell them it's THEIR fault for not being proactive and calling ahead to confirm the expectation that our hours are still the same as they've been for the last decade. NOR would I be surprised if we didn't get their $50 that month. These Germans tend to hold grudges. -

First check to be sure your hardware meets the hardware requirements for Lion.
Backup your data. I suggest a bootable clone as the way to go.
Then open App Store and purchase and download the Lion installer.
Then install Lion.

is it possible to upgrade from 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm to ssd on the new 13" 2012 macbook pro?
New non-retina 15" MBP, I just replaced the 500 gb HD with a Samsung 830 256 gb SSD from Amazon, $255 for the kit (includes a USB cable). Wow. What a difference. Yes, there was a learning curve for some of it, but was so worth it. Let me know if I can help. I'm using the 500 gb in 2 partitions - one for a clone of the SSD, and one for Time Machine.

Is it possible to upgrade from CS6 Extended version 13.0 x64 to the latest version?
Is it possible to upgrade from CS6 Extended version 13.0 x64 to the latest version?
There are three current version of CS6 perpetual versions Mac version 13.0.6 and Windows Version version 13.0.1.3 and there is a creative cloud sibscruption version 13.1.2.
If you running Windows on a 64Bit system and install Perpetual CS6 it would have installed at version 13.0.0 and the be updated to version 13.0.1.3. Both a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version of Photoshop would have been installed on your windows system. The 32 bit version will be in your windows "Program Files (x86)" tree anf the 64 bit version in the "Program Files" tree there should be two startup icon in the start button for starting CS6.
There would also be a 32 bit and 64 bit windows subscription version installed on windows.
Mac CS6 is 64bit only. -
How can I upgrade from OS X Snow Leopard to OS X Lion?
How can I upgrade from OS X Snow Leopard to OS X Lion?
Well Mt Lion is the latest, but if your machine can't do 10.8, then call Apple via phone and order 10.7
However you really need to do your homework first, as a lot of software and drivers could stop in 10.7, no Rosetta like in 10.6, could cost you plenty.

Can I upgrade from snow leopard 10.6.8 to mountain lion on my MacBook?
Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and compare the model identifier with MacBook5,1, which is the earliest MacBook that can run Mountain Lion and newer.
A MacBook older than that which has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM can run Lion 10.7, which is available by clicking here. Neither Mountain Lion nor Lion support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004.
