How is the 5th Gen iPod better then....

How is the 5th Gen iPod better then the 4th Gen iPod, other then the obvious video ability? Is it really that much better while playing songs? Is it built well? How do you like it?

I do not own a 4G iPod but I can ad that I don't think there is anything better about the audio quality in the 5G
iPod as compared to the 1G iPod. What you get are new features and of course capacity and cosmetic appearance. I am an owner of a 1G iPod that is still going strong, no issues with it ever! I recently purchased the 5G and already have questions regarding shut down and pausing and battery life!
Peace

Done all of the above...everything is in order, still cannot connect to the store.  I have the 5th gen iPod and $50 iTunes gift card that I cannot use(been trying now for 6 days).  I am going to return both of these items if I cannot find a fix for this.

When I called Apple (after wating 42 min. for a live person) I was told to run the APPLE Software Update and turn off location services then restart my computer.  There were no available updates. The iPod touch I got on Christmas day.  The iTunes app was downloaded the same day.  Since day 1 I have not been able to connect.  I also followed lllaass's advice and followed instructions on the following 2 websites.
    http://www.idownloadblog.com/2012/09/20/fix-for-cannot-connect-error/

    After restarting my computer:
From the iTunes app I click on the 'iTunes Store'
A new window opens and I get the following message:
This Apple ID has not yet veen used with the iTunes Store.
    Please review your account information
So I click on 'Review' and am taken to a crude screen that says
    Welcome to the iTunes Store
With an Apple ID, you can download the latest music, videos, and more.
To begin creating your Apple ID, click Continue.
    So I click on 'Continue'
    A pop up window says:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-1202).
There was an error in the iTunes Store.  Please try again later.
And the only option I am left with is to click 'OK'
After every fix this same scenerio just loops and loops and loops

  • Does the 5th gen iPod also come with the fingerprint ID scan ?

Does the 5th gen iPod also come with the fingerprint ID scan ?

All the lock schemes on iOS devices are just "privacy locks." If a determined individual with any degree of competence and resources has physical access or control of your iOS device, you're screwed.  For example, there are devices in the hands of law enforcement that can read the data off a "locked" iOS device almost instantly. You can bet there are dishonest people who have access to similar equipment.
Your real security in this kind of situationi is not to lose your device.  It's a lot like keeping track of your wallet.  If you lose it, you're in trouble, but we're pretty good at keeping track of this kind of thing. Not perfect, but pretty good.
In other words, the fingerprint scanner is fine, and more convenient.

  • Should I wait for the 5th gen iPod Touch or keep my 64Gb 4th gen and not return it?

Bought a 32Gb iPod Touch and while it was being shipped I realized I'm going to need the 64Gb's if I plan on removing the music off of my 64Gb iPhone and putting it on the iPod and using my iPod as my music source. So I took it ot the Apple store last night and swapped it for the 64Gb. Well I got to thinking, this thing is just over a year old - a new one HAS to be on its way in the near future, right? Certainly they wouldn't go a full two years to refresh the iPod's with the A5 chips that have been out almost a year already. If they were to go with another September launch for the iPod but next year the A5 chip is almost irrelevant by then, A6 will be in the iPad 2S/3, A6 will be in the next iPhone ----- and then the old A5 would just be dropped into the iPod? Just doesn't make logical sense to me. I believe an iPod refreshment will be launched fairly soon, maybe a long side the next iPad release? What do you guys think? The way I'm just seeing it is that I don't really need the iPod right now, so that $400 credit could be used for even double the space the 64Gb has for the same price when the 5th gen launches? And whatever other bells & whistles the 5th gen will offer. I'd feel stupid for paying the $400 knowing I don't need it quite yet and that a refreshment could possibly be on the way soon. Thoughts?

It is all up to you.  I have not heard any announcement from Apple about a 5G iPod touch.  SInce you do not "need" then wait.

  • Can a magnectic field of a carrying case damage the 5th gen iPod?

    Hello all,
I have just bought my 5th gen iPod and, at the same store, I also bought a leather case. When I opened the case, I realised that the leather case cover is closed by two magnectic pins.
I am afraid that the magnectic pins can damage the iPod. Should I be concerned or not? I assuming that there should not be a problem given that the case was specifically designed for iPod use, but I just want to make sure.
    THANKS!!!
    Roger

Thanks for your reply. I fell better that someone has used magnet cases without any harm to the i-pod. However, I would like to hear more testimonials just to be sure.

  • Why does appple not support Firewire to the 5th Gen ipods?

I just picked up a new 5th gen iPod and am upset that it does not allow for connection to my older G3 iMac via Firewire (as did my older iPod Photo 40).
I can connect it using usb 1.0 but that connection is painfully slow. Why not support Firewire conectivity? Perhaps Apple wants to force me to buy a new computer?
    G3 imac (CRT)   Mac OS X (10.3.9)
    G3 imac (CRT)   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

"Apple is aware that iMac users could use Firewire with older iPods, but not my new one. It has nothing to do with updating computer hardware."
While it is true there is nothing you can update on your computer to make the iPod work on a Firewire port, it has everything to do with the fact that the iPod no longer supports the HARDWARE (i.e. chipset) for Firewire transfer in the iPod itself. It has been this way for well over a year now.
"IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME THAT I NOW HAVE TO USE USB WHERE I USED FIREWIRE TO SYNC IN THE PAST."
Extending your flawed logic further, I used to be able to use SCSI drives, ADP keyboards and Mice, AUII network ports, RS-422 serial ports, etc. so should I still be able to use those now? How's that floppy drive working out on your Mac? Used to be those as well, so I guess your Mac has one now?
    "This feature is dreadfully slow,"
Yes, USB1.1 ports are very slow which is why all Mac computers for MANY years now, have all come with USB2 ports for high speed transfer. While I know it ***** when you have an older computer that doesn't support the latest in higher speed ports, but you can not expect Apple to support all port types forever on every device and machine.
When the original iMacs came out, everyone moaned and complained about the loss of a floppy drive and all the devices that no longer would work, like tablets, because there were no ADB ports and all the external SCSI drives that couldn't be used. Guess what, everyone got over it and moved on. Now you would laugh it Apple put a floppy drive into a new machine.

  • Does the 5th gen iPod have wireless capability?

Just ordered a fifth gen iPod touch.  Does it have wirelessi or bluetooth capabilities?

Cool. Having a charger handy always a good thing with an iPod 5. Have seen some issues with different brands of radios, some OME and some aftermarket. Audi, VW and Pioneer seem to come up most often with not wanting to work with iOS 7. You may need to update the interface or look in the app store for a patch, otherwise you should be good to go! And FYI-- As for battery drain I use Bluetooth with a BOSE Soundlink Mini, cuts my use time down roughly 1 to 2 hours less than if I don't use Bluetooth. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Is there a way to "reset" the games "played count" on the 5th Gen iPod Nano

I was just looking through my new iPod Nano (16 GB), and happened to select
all three games (Klondike, Maze and Vortex), but never played them, just looked and then
quit out of each game. Now I have a "game played" count on all three games.
I'm not sure if I may hang onto this iPod Nano or possibly look into an iTouch.
If I sell this new one on eBay, I would like to know how to reset the "game counts"
back to 0 or the original "default" of no game counts showing.
    Any help would be appreciated.
By the way, why would Apple even need to show a "game played count" on any of
the iPod Nano games ... very weird.

I think the only way you can reset play counts on games is if you do a full restore of the ipod. But, then again, if you plan on selling it on ebay, it'd be probably be best if you do the restore, that way it'd be like opening a brand new ipod for the new owner.
As for why Apple would want to keep track of game counts...I have no idea.

  • Can songs be deleted directly from the 5th gen ipod?

I occasionally find a song I no longer want, and want to delete it then and there off of the ipod, but I can't find this function on the ipod. I forget by the time I get back to the computer to delete it, therefore deleting it when I next sync the ipod.
any ideas anyone? Should this be function the ipod should be able to perform?

No, you can't delete directly from the iPod. Depending on how you use ratings, you could, for example, rate all the songs you want to delete 1 star. Or you could add them to an On-The-Go playlist. With either method, you would the easily be able to find them when you next synced.

  • Can I trade out my 4th Gen Ipod Touch, for the 5th Gen Ipod Touch?

I have an Ipod Touch 4th Gen that I bought in April with the warranty, and I was wondering if I could trade it in for the Ipod Touch 5 and pay a much smaller amount for it.

    On Amazon.com, you can: http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/s/ref=tradeinavs?url=rh%3Dn%3A2226766011%26i%3De lectronics-tradein&field-keywords=iPod&Go.x=17&Go.y=13

  • Docks for the 5th Gen. iPod

I am in need for an iPod dock to charge the iPod and to play the iPod out loud. The iPod dock should be reasonably price nothing outrageous priced. The iPod dock should have the ability of running on batteries but more important it should be able to plug in the wall. An extra but nice thing would be to charge the iPod with the case on. I was wonder if there are any good docks with all that and has good reviews by the consumer.

It is all up to you.  I have not heard any announcement from Apple about a 5G iPod touch.  SInce you do not "need" then wait.

  • I have the 5th Gen ipod and I went to the triple click under accessability and now it will not let me go back. Is there anyway I can fix this?

my ipod will not function very well with this

Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn it off off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see:
iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)
Next restore from backup if you have not backed up after turning it initially on.
Last, restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • 5th gen Ipod not playing in any docking station

I have a 6th generation ipod classic that works great in my pioneer receiver and in both cars. I bought a 5th gen ipod on ebay for my wife and it seems to work just fine.
I restored it using itunes, then put synced songs to it. Everything works fine when it's connected to Windows but it won't play in any docking station. It gets a charge from the station, but won't play.
Does the 5th gen ipod not work in docking stations or is it possible mine isn't functioning right. I contacted the manufacturer of the station in one of the cars and they said all ipods should work.

I have the same problem with a Pioneer X-HM50-K hifi system. My 5th gen ipod (system 1.3 which up-to-date iTunes claims is up-to-date, tried resetting/restoring/all that), when plugged into the docking bay, pauses the music and shows a tick mark after a while with the text "ok to disconnect" beneath it. The tick mark becomes a Pioneer logo after a while but that does not change the fact that the ipod does not react, neither to the command buttons on the Pioneer system (or on the remote control) nor to the buttons on the iPod itself (those do 'click', but have no effect). It does get charged, but doesn't play, just as in the top posting.
A friend's iPod nano works just fine on the Pioneer, and my iPod works fine for everything else (headphones, iTunes, other docking systems I tried at friends', ...). So there seems to be a specific incompatibility with Pioneer systems.
How can this problem be investigated and solved ?
