How is the JROUTE cookie value determined?

Would it be possible for someone to describe in detail the algorithm used by the libpassthrough.so to generate the 4-character JROUTE cookie value when load balancing across SJS AS 8.1 EE UR2 instances? Is it a hash or some other encoding on the instance name specified in the loadbalancer.xml config file?
We are using a cluster of many web servers against a cluster of 9 appserver instances in a single logical appserver cluster without session persistence, and would like to be able to quickly identify to which appserver instance a given jsession ID and JROUTE combo maps to aid troubleshooting / debugging efforts.
We're using SJSWS 6.1SP4 with the libpassthrough.so distributed with JES appserver patch 119166-12. And, as you can deduce from the patch, we're using SJSAS 8.1 EE UR 2, patched to 8.1_02 (build b14-p05).
Thanks,
Matt

  • My site changes cookie to store user options; worked in v3 but broke in v5/6. How do I change cookie value now?

    Some 8 months ago, I started saving user options in my cookie; as user changed options, my php code change the cookie value. I work normally with Camino, but verify with Firefox (V. 3). An associate with a newer MacBook Pro, with Firefox V. 5, tried my site and reported that the option change 'did not take'. I tried using my V.3, and everything worked. Realizing that I should be on V. 6, I upgraded today, and myself verified that the 'new' cookie value is NOT being saved. Rather, a second cookie is being created but with WITH NO VALUE. Result: old cookie has old option value; new cookie has no value. I tried also with Safari, and got this same result. So, there must be a way to update a cookie value, just unknown to me. Please advise as to new/proper header(s) to send from my server to change cookie value.

    Make sure that the cookies are created for the proper path.

  • How does the Reader or Acrobat determine which plug-ins should be loaded

    Hi,
    I have a custom plug-in for Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat.
    The custom plug-in api file will be available in the plugins folder for all users.
    But I want the plug-in to load for few users only.
    Is there any registry key or any other property available to achieve this?
    How does the Reader or Acrobat determine which plug-ins should be loaded?
    Thanks,
    Vatsapal

    Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat looks for files with extension .api in the plugins folder.

  • How are the "Key" string values encoded in PerformancePoint services Database ParameterValues table

    Hi,
    As you know, performancepoint stores user selections for Filters in "ParameterValues" table in PerformancePoint Service database.
    I noticed that UserValues/Key is encoded. Does anyone know what encoding scheme is used ? For example, I see below text in SerializedXml column for one of the records.
    <UserValues>
    <Key>72DE084F5B6A4E0BCBBF348E2A4A09EF</Key>
    </UserValues>
    Thanks & Regards
    Poomani Sankaran

    Hi Sinoth
    You'll probably find they are being passed with commas between the values. The system will only see the first value. You would need to get clever and concatenate values into a single string then get the function to break it apart in a loop.
    Best wishes

    Hi - I havn't setup a mysite personal site in sp2013 yet but I need to find out - is the Manager value (used by the My Site Clean up timer job) still based on the AD property as it was in SP2010? Or is it prompted for during personal site creation?

  • How to determine the correct K value within a grayscale image, quick?

    I frequently need to know specific grayscale values from grayscale images for further use in other applications.
    Problem: When opening the Color Picker the picked grayscale value is separated in CMYK. But I need it in K only.
    I actually have a workaround by comparing the RGB values while zeroing the CMY values and altering the K unless I found the correct value.
    Anyone knows an easier way to get a correct grayscale value in K (out of CMYK), quick?
    And btw. the K from the info panel does not show the correct value I need to know.

  • How do I use cookies to control which part of the timeline to play from?

    Hi there,
    I have created an animation with Adobe Edge. My site uses Concrete5 and I am pulling in the Edge content into an IFRAME on my home page (there my be a better way to do this and I'm open to suggestions). I want the animation to play from the start when someone first visits the site, but if during their browser session they navigate back to the home page, I want the animation to only play a shorter segment of frames near the end.
    My question is, how do I use cookies to acheive this? I'm new to javascript/jquery.
    I've included the following code on compositionReady, (found in another post on this forum) but don't have a clue how to continue...
    // insert code to be run when the composition is fully loaded here yepnope(   {     nope:[       '/js/jquery.cookie.js'     ],   complete: init   } ); function init() { //create your cookie's initial values here }
    My temp site is here - http://79.170.40.43/nutcrackerdesign.co.uk/
    On revisting the homepage, I only want to play from when the green 'How can we help?' button drops in.
    Many thanks!
    Russ

    Hi, Russ-
    I found this article, which seemed really helpful in describing how cookies work in JavaScript:
    http://www.quirksmode.org/js/cookies.html
    Remember that JS works just fine within Animate, so on your compositionReady, you can read your cookie and then set the play based on that.  You should probably uncheck the autoplay for your Stage and control the play of your Stage from the compositionReady.
    Good luck!

    Hi,
    "cookie" is a reserved name. If you want to write to a session scope attribute called "cookie" then you have to call #{sessionScope.cookie}. If you want to use EL to set and read from cookies then you will have to use
    #{cookie.cookieName}
    Note that #{cookie} writes to and returns a map

  • $20 to anyone who can help: (I think) how to send the right cookie info

    Yes, we're so befuddled and stumped that we are willing to pay $25 by Paypal or any other method (check, money order) to the first person who provides us with a concrete solution that allows us to read this page through a Java application:
    http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/subst/your-account/your-open-marketplace-items.html/104-3907538-7794313
    The problem (we think) seems relatively simple: how can we pass the correct cookie to a server? We want to search our merchant web pages on amazon.com (and perform other operations, but for the purposes of this problem, just assume we want to read the above web page). We wrote a variation of a webcrawler which works fine on most web pages. However, the Amazon web pages we want to crawl (i.e., http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/subst/your-account/your-open-marketplace-items.html/104-3907538-7794313) require you to sign in first (otherwise you get redirected to http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/subst/your-account/your-won-zshop-items.html/104-0793551-2976761). So we thought that this meant we had to figure out how to get our webcrawler to login first (we implemented the Java Almanac example for accessing password-protected URLs: http://javaalmanac.com/egs/java.net/Auth.html?l=rel). During the course of testing this out (the code seemed to work, though we still got redirected), we realized that the Amazon web page is not actually performing basic authentication (not asking for username/password), but instead seems (that is, seems to inexperienced us) to be looking for a cookie. We believe this because after we sign in to Amazon, we can access all our merchant web pages just fine without ever needing to log in, even if we turn off the browser (or computer). Also, if we try to access the web page after deleting all cookies, we again get redirected to the page requesting that we sign in.
    So we took a look at the Amazon cookie that was created after we signed in to Amazon (printed below), and then implemented the cookie-passing code from the Java Almanac (http://javaalmanac.com/egs/java.net/SendCookie.html). This seemed to have no effect:we still got redirected. We hunted around for other Cookie examples and found achase1's example from a previous forum question (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=54&thread=375956), which seemed to add a few HTTPUrlConnection.set's, but this also had no effect--our Java crawler still gets redirected to the page that requests that we sign in first.
    So we think that either we are somehow passing the wrong cookie information, or are just missing some critical HttpURLConnection setting or parameter.
    So, if you can tell us how to read the Amazon page that seems to require a cookie, and your explanation actually works (that is, we can read the page), we will send you $25 immediately--like so many others on the forum, we're frustrated and lost and need an answer that works!
    Here is the Amazon account information (naturally, this is a working dummy account on Amazon, not our actual account, in case you want to test your solution before posting it):
    username: [email protected]
    password: melville

    Here is the extra-simplified version of our webcrawler, which simply tries to read (and print out) the web page:
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class PasswordReader {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    // Try to access the page

         m_urlConn.setDoInput(true);
         m_urlConn.setUseCaches(false);
         m_urlConn.setRequestMethod("POST");
         // optrional
         m_urlConn.setRequestProperty("User-Agent","Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0; H010818)");
         m_urlConn.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
         m_urlConn.setRequestProperty("Cookie" , "session-id=104-3907538-7794313;session-id-time=1055491200;ubid-main=430-1017936-7312154;x-main=Z3yciaQAfpzN?CPFkzeRd8z1U2lWcoap");
         m_urlConn.connect();
    // end cookie code
         BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
                        new InputStreamReader(
                        url.openStream()));
         String inputLine;
    // Read and print out the web page
         while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
         System.out.println(inputLine);
         in.close();
    } catch (MalformedURLException e) {

    Thank so much to anyone who even tries to help us!! We've been poring through the Sun forums, almanacs, and sample code all week without much evident progress. You'd really be making us very, very happy.

  • Setting the cookies value

    hi,
    when i do, submiting the page i'm able to set the cookie value.I'm not getting any messages. But the Same time when i call the proceudre with parameters from the URL i'm not able to store the cookie value.
    It display's the message like this and the value is not stored in the cookies
    Content-type: text/html Set-Cookie: emp_no=9999X; path=/;
    my code is :
    owa_util.mime_header('text/html',FALSE);
         owa_cookie.send('emp_no',UPPER(lv_emp_no),null,'/',null,null);
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    How do i solve this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Here are a couple of things you can try:
    1) remove the following line because it shouldn't be necessary:
    the_cookie.num_vals :=0;2) remove the following line because the owa_cookie.send will automatically replace any existing cookie:
         owa_cookie.remove('emp_no',the_cookie.vals(1),null);3) try capturing the cookie value in a local variable and printing it (after htp.body, of course) to see if it is working correctly.
    4) enable the browser to prompt you when a cookie is being set so that you can verify whether it is being set or not.

  • How does the JRE determine java.home?

    I recently upgraded from jre 1.4.1 to 1.4.2.
    I'm having problems with applets, and I've traced the problem to the fact that java.home still points to the old JRE directory. Here is a line from the system properties dump in the java console:
    java.home = C:\PROGRA~1\Java\J2RE14~1.2_0
    That directory doesn't exist anymore. The directory that contains the jre is now c:\program files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01.
    I properly uninstalled 1.4.1, and I've tried uninstalling everything java related, manually deleting everything I can find (files, folders, registry settings) related to java or sun, and reinstalling, and this problem is still there.
    I've also tried setting the property in the JAVA_HOME environment variable as well as setting it as a runtime option in the java control panel ( -Djava.home=. . .). No dice.
    How does the JRE determine java.home? Is there a way to manually set the path?

    Check regedit with the oldvalueThanks -- I tried that. The old value is not in the registry, and all of the registry settings for java.home point to the correct directory. The java.home value that ends up inside the plugin must be determined some other way (at least in 1.4.2).
    If anyone out there knows where it comes from, please let me know!
    Thanks.

  • How to get cookie value setup by another servlet?

    Hi, Steven,
    I was trying to get a cookie value setup by another servlet. I thought it should appear under /request/cookies/ node. But it didn't.
    What I did was use the following code in a servlet to add a cookie in the server:
    Cookie c = new Cookie("ID", "123");
    res.addCookie(c);
    Is the node ID suppose to appear under /request/cookies/ node when I reload my xsql file?
    I can do this use session value. However, it is not easy to setup max age for session value. Would you please give me any suggestion about how to handle this problem? Thanks in advance.

    Are you talking about server-side java code (servlets/jsp) or client side (applet)? Given we are in the JSP forum I'll assume we're talking server side.
    If so, you are making a common but fundamental mistake. JavaScript executes on the client, not on the server. If you want client data on the server it has to get there somehow. The simplest way to do this in JSP land is via HTTP. So... have your JavaScript code call a JSP (or servlet) and pass the value you want as a URL parameter. Of course this will also change the browser location, so if you don't want this to happen use a frame or iframe to capture your HTTP request.
    For example:
    Javascript....
    function someFunction() {
    return 1;
    var value = someFunction();
    location.href="somejsp.jsp?value=" + value;

  • Get the Cookie Value from Different Application Servers

    Hi All,
    I am using the two applications with different application servers. How to get the cookie values from one to another application. Shall i know any sample codes?
    Thanks
    Maalan

    A cookie carries a domain name. The browser will only return cookies whose domain matches to domain to which the request is made, however although you can use a partial domain name providing it's not too generic. So, when you add a cookie you need to explicitly set the domain name on the cookie to, for example, your company suffix like ".acme.com", then the cookie should be returned to all the servers under that domain e.g. server1.acme.com and server2.acme.com.

  • How to get the table of value field? and can we expand the technical limits

    Dear
    I have created value field in COPA with KEA6. And now, I need the table which the value fields are saved. Yet, I have tried a lot to find it and get failure? Can any guy help me? Please tell me how to get the table of a value field.
    And another question is that, can we extend the technical limits for the number of value field for ECC6.0?
    We have a note for R.4.x Please see below:
    OSS note 160892
    You can display the length of a data record using Transaction KEA0 ('Maintain Operating Concern'). After you have navigated to the 'Characteristics Screen' or to the 'Value field Screen' choose menu path 'Extras -> Technical Limits'.
    The maximum displayed here under 'Length in bytes on the DB' is the maximum length permitted by the Dictionary. The reserve required for the release upgrade must be subtracted from this value.
    To increase the allowed number of the value fields, increase the value that is assigned to field ikcge-bas_max_cnt (FORM init_ikcge_ke USING fm_subrc, approx. line 165) in Include FKCGNF20. It specifies the number of the possible value fields. The corresponding part of the source code is attached to the note as a correction.
