How is the Mac Pro owner 2007 supposed to upgrade to Mountain lion
I Need help finding out if I can uupdate my Mac Pro to mountain lion
You can't. Neither the 2006 nor 2007 MPs can run anything higher than 10.7.5.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by ordering it from the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

Yes.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Mail runs fine at first but after awhile it freezes the machine. I have shut the mac down and restart. I am running Mountain Lion which was updated from Leopard. I reinstalled original programs from disk and solved this same problem with Contact. Mail is still a problem. May also include itunes which seems to add to the problem.
Run Disk Utility to check the SMART status of your hard drive.

I have a MacBookPro with OS X Lion 10.7.5 - Just purchased an Apple TV Device but can't mirror stuff in my computer to the TV. Do I need to upgrade to Mountain Lion in order to get air play or is there another way to mirror stuff to my TV?
About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.
Other solutions are the Air Parrot, StreamToMe, and AirServer. -
I am at 10.7.5 on a 2009 Macbook Pro. Why should I upgrade to Mountain Lion?
In ways, Mountain Lion is a more efficient operating system than Lion, however, if you are happy with Lion and it meets all of your needs, there is o reason to change. You can easily enough compare the features of the two and see if you are missing something that is important to you. And then decide if you want to change.

Display Problem with my Mac Pro and LG Flatron Wide Monitor in Mountain Lion
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my Mac Pro has display problems with my LG Flatron display. The image is displayed with a black bar on the right and on the bottom. And the left side of the content is not visible. I tried every resolution available in the Display System Preferences, they are different in terms of how big the black bars are, and what part is not visible, but none of them are correct. I held down the option key to try to detect displays or switch to resolutions that are not normally available. When I restart the image is lined up with the display, but if the display ever goes to sleep or gets turned off, the image reverts to being off center, and the only way I can get it back is to restart... The interesting thing is that this monitor works fine with the same machine if I reboot using BootCamp into Windows 7. The Monitor also works fine, connecting the same connector to a Mac Mini, although that mac mini is running 10.6 and not Mountain Lion. I've reset the SMC and restarted countless times, I don't see any other levers to pull or things to try...
That card is for a PC it may not give you Startup and Option-Boot screens.
The 7950 "Mac Edition" card has a very distinctive look:

Any ideas how to solve? You can go into the OS X Server Forum and search for this issue. I think there are some discussiom threads that discuss it and you can read some of the solutions.
I'm also running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and OS X Server on a Mac Mini and it won't sleep if I have the File Sharing, VPN and Printer Sharing services running. To me, this is a good thing as a server is usually available to client machines 24x7.
I did experiment and turned off each service one at a time to see which ones deny the sleep function and I found all 3 do.
Here's an example from my server. The bold entries are the culprits for my server.

MacBook Pro Retina Audio issue after upgrade to Mountain Lion
Got my new MacBook Pro with Retina display just over a week ago now and was working brilliantly up until last night.
I upgraded to Mountain Lion via the App store as I already bought it for my other macs and didnt wish to wait to redeem my free copy.
Ever since the update the audio develops a stutter on any audio file no matter what format, program used or at any volume.
I am hoping this is just a software isssue and can be easily rectified. I have restarted it, tried a different user and pretty much anything else I could think of before posting this.
Any help would be greatly recieved.
Thanks
LukeUsing gfxCardStatus to force discrete graphics stops the audio stutter on my machine. I already returned one retina mbp for three dead pixels... Strange that graphics switching has something to do with the audio, especially since it was stuttering every 15 seconds or so, not when the nvidia kicked in...

Why is Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 crashing after my upgrade to Mountain Lion?
OK. The day I upgraded to Mountain Lion was the day that Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 stopped working for me. I have tried re-installing Pro and now I'm getting the error message that "Licensing for this product has stopped working." I have been all over the Adobe boards and everything is written towards fixing problems pre-Mountain Lion.
I tried a License Recovery Launcher and the problem there is that Power PC are no longer supported. Does the fact that Power PC apps are no longer supported have anything to do with this or are their other issues? Does anyone have any constructive solutions?
I can't believe that there is not more discussions about this so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!Mine is crashing, too, and I must assume that the 9.5.2 update is the cause. Version 9.5.1 of Acrobat Pro worked perfectly well on 10.8.2 in every aspect. My crashes occur on trying to save as "Adobe PDF Files, Optimized".
I think, it is not OSX at fault here but the Adobe update; I found a (PC related) post on the adobe forums. Hopefully a fix will be issued by Adobe. I wonder if it could be a font issue? -
HT200117 i Mac OS X 10.5.8 upgrade to Mountain Lion or Snow leopard?
I have i Mac OS X 10.5.8. Is there anyway to upgrade to Mountain Lion or Snow leopard?
To answer your question.
Upgrade to Snow Leopard, then update to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Purchase
Mac OS 10.6.8 Combo Updater
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. Application Compatibility
If you have applications that you want to use that aren't compatible, you can retain Snow Leopard and create a new partition to install Mountain Lion on or use one of these programs to run Snow Leopard. I have two partition and boot between them daily.
Parrallels
VirtualBox
VM Fusion
You can then download Mountain Lion from the App Store. I suggest that you make a copy of the installer and move it out of the Applications folder. The installer self destructs when done and by having a copy, you won't have to download it again.
If you want a bootable drive:
Bootable Drive DVD or USB Flash Drive – Lion Diskmaker
I have been running Mountain Lion since it was released with no major problems. Mountain Lion doesn't act like Snow Leopard. For example, scrolling is reversed, but can be changed. If you spend enough time in System Preferences, you can get the OS to be mostly like Snow Leopard. -
I have a Macbook Pro 2010 can I still upgrade to Mountain Lion?
Can I still upgrade to Mountain Lion?
Yes, see > OS X Mountain Lion - Apple Store (U.S.)
You could also go to Mavericks, see > Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mavericks. -
Is the file and apps will lost when upgrade to Mountain Lion?
I'm currently use lion and tend to upgrade to mountain lion. is it will affect my files and apps after upgrade to it? sorry, i'm a new user of apple product.
You mustn't lose your apps, but you have to do a backup if the upgrade fails and you can't access to OS. Also, you can check the app compatibility, but if you use Lion, you mustn't have problems with them

Hi Guy's,
Can you help me with the following problem please?
I have a new Macbook pro 13" with retina and a ssd HD.
On this machine is a osx 10.8 Mountain lion installed.
I need to down great this machine to osx 10.7.3. lion
Bud it won't work.
I use a usb key to bood to 10.7.3 it works always on a normal macbook pro.
Can someone help me on this please? You can't. No new Mac can run any older version of OS X then what originally came on it.
There are a few exceptions but to do so you would need a model that also came with the older OS at some point but then you would also need the older OS X installer files. Which aren't available to a Mac that came with a later OS X version.
