How is the recalled battery going?

Hey guys... got a question to those of You who had Your battery recalled.
How is it going? Is the battery capacity better? I mean, can You work longer without the AC cord plugged? Mine with Safari, MSN and iChat camera (to stop the whine) ethernet cord and optical USB mouse, matrix about half-bright and it handles 2hours 10 minutes... got the newest frimware I bet... which is the newest? Maybe the battery exchange fixes another issues, like heat etc? There is no MLB battery exchange in Poland, so my logic baord is still as it was. Heat and whine still present. Does the new battery help any of these? And how about the battery life?
I'd be gratefull for answers.
Cheers.

Mine definitely seems cooler, though I haven't actually checked the temps for specific temperature differences (will do that when I get home), but I had it sitting on my lap for about an hour the other night and suddenly realized the tops of my thighs weren't cooking yet.
Also, I'm getting at least an extra 20-30 minutes life out of mine, and if I shut the lid and then open it up a couple hours later my compute comes right back on as opposed to before when I would have to power it back on, because the computer had shut itself off (regardless of how much charge the battery had).
So, all in all, I can say def improvements with the new batteries.

  • How should the "recall" key work? Is there a design defect?

I purchased a LCD TV/DVD unit (NS-LDVD26Q-10A) last week.  I connected it directly to cable (no cable box), channel scanned, etc.  It works fine EXCEPT the "recall" key does not remember the prior channel after a few minutes.  I'm using the remote that came with the TV and key in the channel (24 in this case) and then key in another channel (7.1).  It makes no difference whether I use the "OK" key after each entry or just wait a few seconds for it to accept the input.
Hitting the "recall" key will work a few times but then no longer switches between the two channels after a few minutes.  I sent email to the customer service department and followed their instructions (remove batteries from remote control & reinsert, unplug TV and re-scan channels) but it didn't solve the problem.  They then told me to return the TV for a replacement which I did.  However, the problem is the same in the new TV.
I have never seen a "recall" key that did not remember the prior channel until it was turned off.  The manual does not give any more instruction and I can not find any more documentation on the web site.
Is this a design defect?  I spoke with customer service and they were only able to offer the simple advise above.  This is an engineering or documentation problem.  What is the answer?

It might be overkill for your particular case, but Eclipse has done all that work already with their plugin infrastructure. They do lazy loading for almost everything because a typical Eclipse installation can have hundreds of plugins of which only 1-2 dozens are loaded and used at the same time.
You might want to move your descriptive data completely outside the plugin classes (in a porperties file for example). You'll need to have a central way to register/identify your plugins anyway, so putting the pure description there might be a good idea.
Eclipse even goes as far as defning available actions and menu entries in properties files. The plugin class only gets loaded once the menu item is selected.

  • So how is the new battery in the 17" doing?

some of you have been playing with the newest hardware toy, could you post your findings about the 8hrs battery life? Do you get near it in normal use. For me normal/light use being: surfing, mailing, text, dvd writing and watching,...
I mean no heavy PS3, FCP and video converting, and all the other things that I don't know of taking a lot of cpu power.
    THX, Johan

When I calibrated my battery I ran about 6:50 before I was forced to shut down, I haven't run it down since.
The 8 hours of life is based on very specific usage patterns that are rare. In over a decade I've never had a battery that lasts as long as the manufacturers claims, I simply don't work that way.
My expectations when Apple announced an 8 hour battery was that I'd probably see 5:30-6:30 hours from it. Thus far I'm getting the high end of that range and a bit more so I'm quite happy.

  • How is the FM Tuner going to work?

I know no one has this yet but there isn't really enough info on apple.com to tell us how this works.
Is it going to be Wi-Fi only?
Does it pick up radio tower frequency's?
I would like to listen to a local radio station in the morning while at work and was wondering if it was possible without Wi-Fi?
If AT&T won't let me upgrade to the 3GS iphone then I am going to pick up one of these bad boys with my $100 best buy reward zone bucks.

Is it me, or is Apple missing the boat?
Adding a standard FM radio to the new Nano is the equivalent of Lexus announcing a cassette deck addition to the newest SUV on the market. It is old technology that cheap MP3 players have been doing well before Apple decided to add it in. I don't understand why Apple couldn't have been a bit more innovative, and offered something unique to the market...internet radio, since obviously the technology is there for the iPods to get WiFi (like the iPod touch)...Even HD radio would have been a better option, since most FM stations these days are dropping good programming for talk and sports, or automated playlist formats...WBCN in Boston, innovative radio station kicked off the air...it is kind of back, but as an internet station and an HD channel. Can't get either on this unit.
If Apple was smart, they would look into this, see if it is something that is possible to do with a firmware upgrade to the hardware, or issue a rev soon. Otherwise, the only reason to get a new Nano is the camera, which is cool, but with most people having digital cameras and camera phones already, it is redundant. If an iPod could pick up HD radio or internet radio, at least that would be a feature unique to Ipod.
wrong wrong wrong, cheap MP3 players have not being doing radio well. they have always had terrible radio reception. i bought the 5th gen nano mainly for the clear radio reception. so , it is you missing the boat not apple. imo they hit the bulls eye.

  • Anyone have any idea how long the servers are going to be down?

I purchased a new iphone today and I can't activate it because the servers are down. This *****!

I tried to activate my wife's iPhone this evening and after being put on hold for 20mins and going through the rountine of asking for my iPhone cell number and serial, I had to stop the tech guy from going further. Only after telling him that I couldn't complete the registration process that he mentioned the authentication servers being down....until Monday!!!
I'm Apple Certified and checked the support site before calling. You would think that Apple would put something up stating the issue instead of having 100's if not 1000's of people calling with the same issue. You would think that ATT and Apple would've learn from the first time around on this issues.
Not a happy Apple user at this time.

  • Ipod Touch Battery is Drained even with the Ipod Turned off? and how long the batery goes on Stant Mode?

Hy ;D I bought an Ipod touch 4G 3 mouth ago , and recently the i noticed that the battery is drained even off .... is that normal? I turn him off( with the red bar) and put out side the bed , when i Wake up tha batery is about 80% ... (no Wi-Fi on)
And How long the ipod battery goes with the stant mode ?
    Thanks alot for any one

I did a test on mine.
My 4th generation model running 4.3.1 last 10 days on and in sleep mode.
At the end of 10 days I got the 20% low battery warning.
I would try a RESET on yours.
Hold down the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
It will reset and restart itself in a few minutes.
    See if that helps.

  • The new battery is being recalled

I own a iBook G4, and my battery was recalled. I used the form on https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange/index.html, but now my replacement battery is being recalled as well.
When I try to order a new replacement battery, but seeing as I had already used the form once, I can't use it again, even though they recognize the serial on the new battery to being a recalled one. What should I do, who should I contact?

And since you sent back the original recalled battery, you can't use that
box, either...! I just got my battery yesterday (a weird story, just in that)
and have discharged my very good but recalled battery, and have charged
the new replacement battery and haven't tested the computer much, yet.
But I have not been in a hurry to send back the recalled battery; and see
on the battery's shipping box there are options & checkboxes on the label.
If you have tried calling the Apple number for Support again
and can't get any help (if you get through, you may get help)
you could try Sales Support or Customer Relations. That is
a stretch. The information from the recall page suggests to
call; so if you have not tried calling (instead of the form) you
can try it; should work according to their recall information page.
    http://www.apple.com/support/batteryexchange/2006/faq/
You may have to call Apple Sales Support and inquire about customer
satisfaction and their recommended procedures to send in a defective
replacement battery, to get another one; or if there isn't just some way
they can let you get a battery from somewhere closer to you that would
be guaranteed, in lieu of this game they are forcing you into playing.
I'm at a distance from any place to get a battery for my iBook, and
in order to get one new I'm looking at 200+ miles travel; or an order
online and a week's delivery time. And retail prices plus shipping; or
up to 4 weeks to get a new battery if I order new from Apple online.
Being essentially unable to use these computers for up to 6 weeks
and they are intended to be portable, is without excuse and border-
lines on 'fitness of merchantability' rulings, in consumer protection.

  • How long is the education discount going on?

I am going to college next year and am looking to buy a macbook, however possibly not at the beginning of the year as i already have a computer that will work(but its OLD). Does anyone know how lng the discount is going on for college students?

Apple offers an academic discount to anyone who is a currently registered student at an authorized college or university. There is no time limit.
There is a time limit on their current back to school offer. You can find out about it at the Apple Online Store - Education.

  • How Necessary is PRAM battery on MacBook Pro (c2d intel 2.13, model a1211)

Hello Everyone, I stupidly broke the socket/clip where the pram battery attaches to the logic board on my Macbook Pro (c2d Intel 2.13). Unfortunately, since the socket/clip is a surface mount component and the way it broke (I don't see solder pads) I'm unable to re-solder the clip back on to the motherboard. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about (borrowed from someone else who apparently did the same thing): http://yfrog.com/6ximg0870nj
My first question is if anyone knows how vital the pram battery is to a Intel Macbook? It seems that the laptop works fine without the pram battery. Is the battery only necessary to retain pram settings if the main laptop battery is removed and the power adapter disconnected?
Second question is whether there is any alternative to repair the logic board other than get an entirely new board? The laptop is recently out of warranty (Applecare expired earlier this year) and I don't believe that Apple would have covered this since I caused the damage myself.
Third question(s) is whether it would cause any problems to use the logic board out of a c2d 2.33 a1211 macbook pro (I can get my hands on one for a pretty reasonable price)? The only difference I can see between the two boards is the clock speed of the main processor and the amount of video ram. Would there be any advantage to using this logic board? Doesn't seem like the speed bump and video ram would do to much.
Thanks in advance for any comments/help you can offer.

Much obliged. So it sounds like the only time this will be an issue is if I disconnect the regular battery and the power supply at the same time. The rational thing to do here is to just live with it rather than blowing hundreds on the new logic board and risking additional damage during replacement.
I just wish I wasn't so OCD about this. Bothers me a bit to know that something is wrong with the laptop even if it doesn't manifest itself on a day to day basis.

  • For WRT1900AC, how do the 4 antennae work with each other?

I am curious how the 4 antennae work with each other.  Does a wifi client need to communicate with all 4 antennae?  Or just 1 (or 2)?  I am curious, as I would like to move 1 or 2 of the antennae via proper cable to expand the coverage area.

    bigdave240 wrote:
spec on that cable is 10.8dB per 100 feet. I would think that the router would still have a problem with that. Not sure how long the OP was going to make it but with the beaming technology i would think it would throw it off balance.
My maximum is 60ft when using LMR400 for standard wireless applications. I have done that many many times.
These days they typically integrate the higher gain antenna right into the bridge housing or mount the outdoor bridge right next to the antenna.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

How long would the iPhone 4s battery last when shipped from the factory and going to be opened on Christmas? Or how long does the iPhone battery last when it is off? Or would I activate the iphone 4s with a flat battery?  Thankyou

  • How I reset my Battery Statistics without ROOTING the phone.

    All,
You might try this to reset your Battery Usage calculation statistics.  It worked for me and it does NOT ROOT you phone.
To save time do this before you go to bed.
Turn your phone off by holding the on/off button until the phone turns completely off
Remove the battery, the SD card, and the SIM card.
Wait a couple of minutes and reinstall the SiM card, SD card and the battery BUT DO NOT turn the phone back on...Do NOT.
Before you go to bed keep the phone turned off and plug it into the small 110 volt 1 Amp charger that came with the phone and let it charge overnight.
The next morning  DO NOT turn the phone on just unplug the charger and immediately re-plug it back in to further charge the battery.  Every time it says 100% unplug and replug it in.  Do this 3 or 4 or more times.  If you walked away and missed the 100% just unplug it and do it again.
NOTE:  Because the phone is OFF when you plug it in you will first see a gray battery for a few seconds and then a green battery for a minute or two on the display before the screen goes blank (black)..  The battery looks like a standard flashlight battery.  The green battery will say 100% if it is fully charged.  When you see 100% unplug the charger and re plug it in.  The battery charges a little more each time and usually in 3-8 minutes it again says 100%.  Doing this tops off the battery a little bit more each time.  Remember do it 3 or 4 times.
Finally, turn ON your phone and go to Settings>About phone> Battery Use and look at your phones Battery Usage Calculations. They should be reset.  At the top of this screen the amount of time "on the battery" should be a matter of minutes because you just reset the statistics.
The attached screen shot shows my battery usage statistics AFTER I reset them.  If you want to see my battery usage BEFORE I reset them go to this URL and read my original post in that thread.  It showsa screen shot of my battery usage.

PS, You might take a screen shot of you current Battery Statistics before you do this for comparison.

I found an easier and much quicker way to reset the Battery Use than the method that I described here so please go to the following thread to see how.

  • HT2188 I bought my iPhone 4s Nov. 20.  I updated immediately to ios6.0 and cannot make it through even 1 day without the battery going down to almost zero.  Thats with apps closed, wifi off, screen off, etc.  It's a horror.  I have to constantly keep char

I purchased an iPhone 4s on Nov. 20th.  I immediately had to update the software to ios 6.0.1.  I cannot even get through 1 day without the phone battery losing all power.  It loses 10-20% per hour, and that's with apps closed, wifi off, bluetooth off, screen dark, updates current, etc.  You can hold the phone in your hand and watch the power go down.  It also gets very warm.  I have to charge it once or twice a day so I have it when I need it.
I took it in to the Sprint store for diagnostics to see if there was something wrong with the phone.  They said the phone is ok, but one of the agents said it's the last update - he has had problems ever since.  He said he thought they are working on fixing it & we should be getting another update to fix it.  Is this true?  I sure hope so!  They also showed me how to reboot the phone, especially when it gets so warm.  Is there anything else I need to do?  Please help!
This is my first iPhone and I am very frustrated and disappointed in Apple.  If it's the software, I would think they would be frantically trying to fix it.  This phone was not the cheapest phone, so the battery life should be better!

After some troubleshooting, I decided to order a new battery.  I replaced the battery and was then able to get it to restore, however--after I restore it and it comes time to restart the phone, it gets stuck and doesn't turn on.
Sorry, your repair ruined the iPhone.
She does not have apple care and even though she loved this device, she isn't going to buy another iPhone because of all the problems shes had with this one (it's just over a year old).
After you ruined the iPhone with DIY, Apple won't touch it anymore. You should have asked before all these had happened.
I'm an android user myself and I love rooting/flashing new ROMS, so if jailbreaking her phone or doing some kind of super-restore with 3rd party programs might help, I'm all for it-
Yeah, all Android user can think of is Jailbreaking, read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743

whenevenr I call a person sometimes the phone gives me an option of callback and end when I press the callback button the whole screen goes blank and only the upper Taskbar where it shows network provider , time and battery percentage is shown

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
    - Press the red (-) to delete all apps from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • I ordered a battery for my laptop because it said to replace battery soon.  How long can I let the new battery sit around as I wait for the old one to run out of more charge?

I ordered a battery for my laptop because it said to replace battery soon.  How long can I let the new battery sit around as I wait for the old one to run out of more charge?  Will the new one become less effective if it sits around too long?

How much capacity is remaining on your current battery?
    Check your power status
From the  menu: Hold OPTION and click System Information... èHardware è Power
Copy and Paste in your reply.
The new battery will become less effective if you store it in a hot or humid environment. It should be stored at room temperature (22 C).
    Long term storage (6 months):
Apple recommends that you store the battery with a 50% charge. If you store a battery when it’s fully discharged, it could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding any charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may experience some loss of battery capacity, meaning it will have a shorter life.
