How is the Student Edition different?

Hello,
I am a college student and while browsing my university software store I noticed they had Adobe Creative Suite 4: Web Premium Student Edition. I was wondering what makes the student edition different from the premium set?  Is the education set the premium set just with some learning stuff?
Thank you for all the help.
I am sorry if this is not in the right forum.

So I could only put it on one computer.  So I cannot put it on say my desktop and laptop?
The terms of the licence say this: "A Student Edition can be used on only one computer." One computer means precisely that: ONE computer.
What about partitions?  Currently I have two harddrives on one system.  One runs XP and the other runs the Windows 7 beta.  Technically they are both on one machine so can I install it to both harddrives?
You would need to ask Adobe technical support about that. The licence says you can't "transfer or resell ownership of the Adobe Student Edition license." That seems to suggest that only one person can use it.
I have a full retail licence (not a student one), and Dreamweaver lets me use two separate user accounts on the same machine (they're both me, but the computer doesn't know that). Since my student days were over many moons ago, I have no way of testing whether Dreamweaver can be used on separate partitions. The sensible thing to do is to install it on the partition that you use most. However, you should be aware that Windows 7 is still a beta. No Adobe software is guaranteed to run on it (it probably does, but there's no guarantee).
To avoid any doubt, this is a user-to-user forum. The information provided by me (or anyone else so far in this thread) does NOT come from Adobe employees. We have provided you in good faith with what we believe to be the correct information as it currently stands. If you have any further questions about the terms of the student licence, you should contact Adobe directly.

  • Is the student edition different?

I'd like to buy photoshop elements and premiere elements for my daughter.  When I went to "buy", there was a lower price offered for "student edition".  I couldn't find any info on whether the "student edition" contained different, or fewer, features than the regular edition, or if this is just a pricing courtesy for young users.  Any insight?

  • How much is it to upgrade from the student edition

I have the student edition of labview and am trying to turn the program I built to an executable.  I am trying to transfer the program to another computer but it needs to be an executable file. I need the software to be able to. What do I buy to upgrade my software just so I can create an executable?

    Hello,
To compile your VI into an executable, you will need the Application Builder package for LabVIEW, which can be purchased on its own or as part of the Professional Development System package.  If you are a student at university, you may wish to enquire with your school if they already have licenses available for you to use.  For the fastest response to your question (and the most accurate cost information), you can call us directly at (888) 280-7645 from the US.  If you are in a different country, just look for the Sales contact number on www.ni.com/contact

  • What is the best way to properly activate the Lightroom Student Edition? Is the Student Edition a permanent program or does it deactivate after 2-4 years like some other programs that are student versions?

I just purchased the student edition of Lightroom! I am very excited to use it and start creating beautifully edited photos but I'm a little unsure about a few things. It says I have to prove my eligibility to use the student edition which won't be an issue but what is the quickest and easiest way to submit this proof? Also I am concerned that the student edition will be temporary and I will have bought this program only to have it expire at the end of 4 years like some other programs that are student versions. Is the student edition of Lightroom a permanent program that I will have for life or will it deactivate after I graduate?

When I purchased my academic version of Lightroom, it was a package set. Inside was a yellow card with the instructions on how to verify that I qualified for the academic discount. I submitted my academic e-mail address and other info as requested on that yellow card. Within 5 min. I received my serial number. Very straightforward. I had no problems whatsoever.
There is only one version of the Lightroom program itself. The only difference is in the licensing and pricing. If you qualify for the academic discount, by all means use it. You are purchasing the same Lightroom program that anyone else does. It doesn't expire, there are no missing features, and it can be upgraded when new major versions are released. Those upgrades will cost the same as they cost for any other person, regardless of how they purchased Lightroom.
You can confidently move ahead with obtaining your serial number. The only thing you are doing differently is paying a lower initial purchase price because of your academic status.

I need to install software on a computer without a dvd drive.  Where can I find the download for the student edition?

Perhaps you can copy it using a different computer, from the disk to a USB key.
However, external DVD drives are cheap and in my view essential.

  • Attemptimg to "buy" the Student edition of Acrobate XI Standard. When I click "Buy", nothing is displayed to continue my purchase.

    On this page https://www.adobe.com/au/products/acrobatstandard.edu.htmlhttps://www.adobe.com/au/products/acrobatstandard.edu.html
When I click Buy for the student edition, the small box it is located in changes only the icon for acrobat, the message that Purchase requires verification of academic eligibility and a small x in the top right is displayed. I assume there should be text or a button to continue my purchase however none is displayed.
I have updated Java, and have tried in both the latest version of Firefox and Chrome.
PS, Is the student edition free? No price is listed.

I bought adobe suite 4 student edition a few years ago and I am no longer a student and my laptop in which I have adobe suite has recently got a virus and I must uninstall the adobe suite in or to wipe the computer. If I uninstall the student edition and reinstall once the virus is removed from the computer will I have to go through the student product verification process or can I simply use the product key to reinstall the adobe suite?

Re-read my post:  You must deactivate before uninstalling.

Can A Homeschooler Qualify for the Student Edition Of PS? I am 14 and want to get PS5 do i qualify for the Student edition?

Clearly, anyone aged 14 must be going through some kind of educational process, and therefore his age alone should qualify him for student editions.

  • Are international students eligible for the student edition discount?

    Good day,
I'd like to know if students anywhere in the world are eligible for the CC student edition at the discounted price (once proof of their student status is provided)?
Secondly, how does a parent purchase for the child i.e. parent's financial details and child's student information? Do you register the account in the child's name or the parent's?
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

    Ann.

  • Is there a way to open a .mst file created in the student edition with MULTISIM 9

When a student builds a file with MultiSIM 9, the circuit is created as a .msm file.  When the student goes home to work, they can open a .msm file with a student version, 2001 for example, but any change to the file can only be saved as a .mst file.  As soon as the file is saved as a .mst file, we have not found a way to open the file with the educational version of MultiSIM 9.  Is there any way to convert these files?  This makes it very difficult for a student to work at home for a project between or prior to labs.
    Thanks

    JKR,
Unfortunately, the ".mst" extension is supposed to be open only by Textbook editions of Multisim. Not even a Power Pro version would be able to open it.
I'm not sure the specifics of your case, but I guess that you open/saved the circuit on your textbook edition and that converted the file extension, is that right?...
Well, as far as I know the textbook editions are meant to be 'demo' type of releases, so is limited in many features. You should be OK with a Student edition though -- which is not the one commonly found in textbooks.
