How is the Zen Sleek Pho

I got one as a gift for a buddy, and was wondering if there were any common problems associated with the player. I've been following Creative for some time now, but it didn't seem like they really pushed this player much at all when it first came out, so that really concerns me. So, for those that have one, what do you think of it's

I really like mine so far. Haven't had any problems with it (knock on wood)..actually one thing that's occured is a message i get saying i don't have the license to play some of the songs i downloaded but i think that has to do with the programs i downloaded from, not the actual player. I don't really like the ear plugs that come with it but that's easily fixable.
hope your friend enjoys it!

• Who here is waiting for the Zen Sleek Ph

Anyone else particularly excited about this player? I really really hope it's out fairly soon. I'm definately looking forward to it...Need a bigger player, about to sell my old Micro. I could just buy the non-color one, but with this coming out. why not ya know?

• Where is the Firmware for the Zen Sleek Ph

Hi,
I've been having problems with my Zen Sleek Photo ever since I bought it 2 months ago. Every so often it would freeze on boot-up, so I would have to reset it with a pin to get it to start up. This morning it started going really haywire so I decided to reload the firmware - of course, my disks are at home and when I looked on the creative site here at work, there was no sign of any firmware for the Zen Sleek Photo (it's almost like Creative don't realise this product exists!). Anyway, where can I download the latest firmware?

I think Creative should add the Sleek Photo to the player list in downloads and add the latest version there (I have version .0.0e). I ordered my player in December (for Christmas). There are a few issues that I have addressed in my "A few annoyances with Zen Sleek Photo 20GB (Request)" thread.
Sadly there has not yet been an update to fix the artist listings etc. as mentioned in my thread
I got in contact with another Creative Zen Sleek Photo user who also li'ves in Switzerland and has the same problems (tracks not been sorted correctly even with correct ID3 tags, which work in many many Windows applications).
By the way, sadly the Sleek Photo gets a load of dust under the screen too, unless you are very careful. I have been unable to remove most of the dust even using compressed air! I would rather not have to get it replaced because of this (unless Creative makes a slightly new casing model to prevent dust under screen) as I would probably end up paying rather a lot for postage (it's going indirectly through another company)
I hope there shall soon be a firmware update addressing these things,
Thanks for any response to this,

• Car Charger for Zen Sleek Pho

Hi. Are there any plans for Creative to release a car charger for Zen Sleek Photo The charger they have on the web site is not the right configuation.
Thanks

There's one for the Sleek. How does the Sleek Photo differ?

• What happened to the Zen Micro Pho

I had asked my parents to buy me the Zen Micro Photo as a gift for Christmas and they thought they had got the right one but they got the older Zen Micro, not the photo one. Not a big deal I thought, I would just go back to the store and exchange it. Well, it seems that the Micro Photo doesn't even exist anywhere. It isn't even available to buy on Creatives store, it isn't even listed as an option. Every store I have called told me that they don't carry that model, and every web site I have gone to is out of stock. I even called Amazon.com and asked them when they thought they would be getting more in and they said they didn't know. I called Bestbuy, CircuitCity, various electronics stores in the New York/New Jersey areas and everyone is sold out or never carried it. Just two weeks ago I saw it for sale on Creatives site and now it isn't there. I plan on calling Creatives customer service in the morning and asking them about it. Does anyone here know what happened, is it going to be available again or is it being replaced?

Well I doubt that Creative just stopped making them, I remember while looking for a White one in the U.S. I called up Creative asking when they'll be sending more out and they told me late January/Early February they'll be shipping them out to retailer. I really wanted the White one to be honest but they only have grey over in the U.S. and I didn't want to have to order through the U.K. or Singapore for one.
Yeah, I don't think the microphoto has been discontinued. I just think they're having some stock supply/demand issues and they're all sorts of screwed up with their websites for different regions around the world and the availability of items. It would be dumb to get rid of the micro and the microphoto since that would leave nothing to really compete with the ipod nano (and I don't think too many people are buying the neeon, but I could be wrong).
Though I still would like to hear what the moderators know about the future of all of the different creative mp3 players.

• Does the Zen Sleek docking station NEED a power adapt

I already have a docking station for my Zen Sleek which is connected to my PC.
I would like to get another one for my hi-fi downstairs so that I can take advantage of the line out socket. Does the dock need power to provide the line-out socket so am I going to have to sort out a second power supply as well?
If I do need a second power supply, would it be ok to just buy a uni'versal power supply (providing the current is sufficient) and plug that in, which would be cheaper than a Creative OE one?
Thanks in advance. The Sleek rocks!Message Edited by manoman48 on 06-27-2006 03:55 AM

The battery pack for the V200 is a different size/shape to the one for the TX, NX, TX FM etc. More important I suppose is whether the actual MP3 module is the same size or not; whether the V200 module will fit in the TX battery compartment or not.
Creative's official answer will probably be that they are different. On first looks they appear different but someone with both players might be able to give you a better answer.

• What to buy? Does the Zen Sleek Photo have line-

Hello,
I am looking for a MP3 Player and recorder that has the following:
. Quality line-in recording capabilities, preferably built in, but if not at least avaible through and attachment or something.
2. Quality voice recording capibilities to MP3 files.
3. Variable Sample Rate
4. Variable Bit Rate
5. A very good Signal to noise ratio.
6. At least 2 gig (perferably much more) of dri've space.
I am not so concerned about Radio capabilities.
I am not so concerned about size and weight.
I am mainly using the player/recorder to record classes that are hooked up to a stereo system (hence the
need for quality line-in recording) as well as classes that are not hooked up to a audio system, hence the need for quality microphone recording.
I want high quality recordings, but with some flexibilty regarding things like sample rate if file size becomes an issue.
I would like not to have to constantly upload my recordings to my PC, hence the need for substantial dri've space.
I am curious about the Creative Zen Sleek Photo (20 GB). It seemed to have a lot of what I was looking for. Is the bit rate adjustable and is there line-in recording for this model?
Please let me know what products are avaible that have what I am looking for.
Thank You, Ezra

Nope, I havent seen any complaints about the MicroPhoto's headphone jack, and I have had no problems with mine.
You should be fine with it. And keep your eyes open for the sales, I saw Best Buy selling the 8GB for $30.
Good luck.

• My computer won't recognize the zen sleek ph

I have installed the software and when I open the program it won't recognize that my product is plugged into the computer, therefore I can't use it or upload music to my product. I have tried turning off my anti-virus programs and re-installing the program but it still isn't helping. I don't know what to do. Please somebody help me!

gosh, i'm not the only one.. i have a similar problem with my zen xtra and i posted this message three times in three different places with people having the same problem (!!).. the system recognizes the mp3 player, the drivers are installed, but the file manager says it's not connected and i can't add music. i tried to reload the os but it was a big mistake because i deleted it and i have to install a firmware update. but how can i do it, if it says not connected?

• Any Info on Zen Sleek Pho

I saw it on http://www.nomadworld.com/products/ and was wondering if anyone knows where/how to get one and what the price is.

A super non-in depth video review, lol.

p.s. Speaking of the Sleek Photo, has anyone looked at the iAudio X5's? Other than Apple they seem to be the only real competition (massi've format support, etc.).Message Edited by amodman on -28-2005 09:00 AM

• How's the Zen Touch in sub-zero temperatu

I li've in Canada Toronto, get some harsh winter here... probably a few degrees colder than New York... anyway, my question is how well does the mp3 player work in freezing temperatures? Does it hang more often? Not turn on? LCD screen all messed up etc?

Hi,
Yes, I have a lot of CD's ripped at 320Kbps (160 per channel stereo) through iTunes and they work fine.
Very difficult to compare "sound quality" with other devices I have not heard, even then it is down to personal taste and ear phones etc.
All I can say is using my Touch with Sennheiser CX300's and a Creative X Dock, I have no complaints, to me it sounds great.
Maybe go to an Apple store and test one out, there is also a 14 day return period.
Good luck,
Dud.

well i certainly don't think i wasted my money, it's a great little device. I can always do the old fashioned reading thing, which i don't have a problem with (=
