PLease explain 3 point  through example & in details

Hello Harpreet,
How Item Category is determine in sales doccument.
As per standard SAP, the item category determination take place as per the following business rules:
Sales Order Type (OR) + Item Category Group (NORM) + Usage + Higher Item Cat  = Default, Manual
2.Same For OR-Standard Order doc type We have define
two item category AFN & TAN in customize for NORM Group.
When We add theSales order form then how system determine
which (AFN Or TAN) item category will display in sales order doccument
After setting up the following values, please ensure to do the setting for item category in t-code VOV4.
Define a Item category
Define Item Category Group
Define default value of item category group for Material Type and assignment of Item cat group in Material master record.
Define item Usage
Assign Item category in vov4.
3.When we save inquiry sales doccument then item category was AFN.
When We make the sales order with reference of Inquiry with help of copy control
then in sales order item category was TAN. How system determine this.Copy control
derter mine the item category when we make any sale doccument with reference?
Please note that the Sales Document type plays an important role in determination of item Category.

  • Item category to control the sales qty?

    Hi experts
I hope to query how item category works ?  Now we found if the high level matieral item category as A, low level matieral item category as B.
In BOM, we set 1 A = 2B . When we place quote or sales order, it will say " the B item only could set qty as 1" .
Does it control by item category ? In BOM, it could set B matieral qty as 2.  but in sales order, it give error when we do ATP check and check the productuion order.
      How to solve it ?
    Thanks
    ALICE

    Dear Alice
I donot understand your requirement fully
Header level TAQ u2013 Pricing applicable to header level
Item level TAE- Item level only components ( no pricing)
    Header level TAP- No pricing
Item leve TAN- Pricing  (Only components have pricing)
Similarly for free goods. TAN & TANN.
This can be determined by sales order type + item category group + usage + higher level item category

  • Missing item category & material description in sales order screen

    Hi all,
We have upgraded SAP from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 version. In the sales order screen (create, change & display mode) the item category & the material description cannot be seen at the item level in the ECC 6.0 version. The same appears in the 4.6C version. I have done the following checks:-
    1. There are no screen variants/ transaction variants/layout settings in both the versions
    2. The config settings for item category are intact in both the versions.
    3. In the item detail view i am able to see the item category.
    4. There is no change in the functionalty as i am able to save the order  & complete the Sales cycle upto billing in the ECC 6.0 version
Any ideas as to what could be the problem & how to fix it.  Pl suggest as it needs to be fixed urgently.

  • Item category not changeable in sales order

    Hi
I have a material where the item category is not changeable in the sales order after you have pressed 'enter' after the material number. It is a bundle material number, with a BOM (structure scope 'A') - does this mean that the item category is greyed out for change?
It is causing a problem because to select the manual item category in item category assignment, you have to change it before you press enter (and when you do that it only gives you a full list of item categories rather than the ones you can select for the assignment table).
    Jon

    this is standard sap !
the reason is that if you change something that has relations with other object then problems can raise.
You cannot do anything for this but you can make a user exit at your own risk that 'opens' up the field:
    the exit looks like this:
    MV45AFZZ
    FORM userexit_field_modification.
      CASE screen-group2.
        WHEN 'LOO'.
          IF screen-name = YourItemCategory AND xvbup-gbsta = ' '.
            screen-input = 1.
            MODIFY SCREEN.
          ENDIF.
      ENDCASE.
    ENDFORM.                    "USEREXIT_FIELD_MODIFICATION

  • ITem category  error while creating sales order through

    Hi,
I am trying to create a sales order through Bapi  and in between im getting the below error.
' Item category TAM is not defined for non material items'.
Can anybody pls provide the solution for this.
    Thanks

speak to your SD functional person.  The Error is pretty self explanatory; SAP is telling you that the item category for that order item is not permitted by your SD configuration.

  • Creating Sales Order- Item Category TAN is not defined.

    Hello all,
I am working on Creating sales order for Global Bike Inc case. But when I enter the material and quantity number and click check mark it says "Item category TAN is not defined". Can some body help me how can we define TAN or why it is giving me that error.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sujan

    Hi SujanB,
As your question is already answered. An indicator that defines the characteristics of a document item.
For example, the item category controls the type and scope of:
    Pricing
    Billing
    Delivery
    Inventory posting
    Transfer of requirements
    Providing further deatils ;--
    01. How item category is determined :--
Depending on the item category group that you apply & the sales doc type you are processing the system automatically proposes an item category in the document.
1.sales document type (source: order type)
2.item category group (source: material master)
3.item category of the higher-level item (source: user defined)
4.item category usage (The usage is defined by SAP and is hard coded in the programs)

  • Item Category determination in Sales Order

    Hi
How to know, how item category determined in Sales Order.  Is there any analysis available in Sales Order level, similar to output or text determination.
Problem here is in a particular sales order, item category is different compared to configuration.  Nothing is recorded in change log.  How to know, whether system determined this item category or user changed manually.
    Regards
    Uma

    Hi
Problem here is in a particular sales order, item category is
    different compared to configuration
    I cant take this arguement
Sales order item cate will picked via the config maintained in VOV4
item category is different compared to configuration
Configuration someone might have changed after that sales order created
Nothing is recorded in change log. How to know,
    whether system
determined this item category or user changed manually.
During order creation if you are inputting the allowed manual item category manually in salesorder then that is not a change
Hence it doesnot get recorded (VA01 T code)
During order creation  a default item cate gets determined if you chnge that to manual, then that is also not a change
Hence it also doesnot get recorded (VA01 T code)
But in VA02 if you change the item category manually then it is recorded in change log
No item category determination analysis is available in standard and not reqd too
In your case only this could have happened
Configuration someone might have changed after that sales order created

  • Item category field in sale order screen to be greyed out

    Dear Friends
While creating sale order I have a requirement to make item category field to be uneditable i.e greyed out .
How can I do that ?
    Regards
    Mahesh.

    Hi,
Once there is any subsequent document to sales order item catagory field is going to be grayed out, till that time u can change ur item category. OR if u do nlt maintain manual item categories in the item category determination  to ur sales document type it is not possible to change the item category other than the one u specified in the determination.

  • Item Category Determination during Sales Order Creation

    Dear All,
This is Chee Wee, i'm new to SD, i would like to seek for an advice for the topic related to Item Category in Sales Order.
We have a material "Mat005" define as "Stocked" Item category in MM03,
*Stocked means our MM team will always keep stock for the material.
The document Item category assigned to this "Stocked" are "NoPo" --> No Auto Po creation and "AuPO" --> AutoPo  creation.
During the SO creation for Mat005 with Qty50 and warehouse stock availale for 60, i'm wondering when i select the itemCat "AuPO", the system automatic changed to "NoPO", but when i change the order qty to 70, then i'm able to changed the itemcat to "AuPo"!!
Can any Guru advice me what is the actual setting or configuration behind to determine which are the correct Item Category that i can choose?
    Thank you very much,
    Regards,
    Chee Wee

    Dear Chee Wee,
Basically tem category will determine based on these key combination
Item category group(Material master)+Sales document type(We enter doc type in the creation initial screen)--->Item category
    For Example NORM+OR--->TAN.
    As per your explanation
I hope In your case stock availability also one of the factor in the item category determination. This might have done some enhancement.
There are two item categories in your process one is  "NoPo" --> No Auto Po creation and  second one is "AuPO" --> AutoPo creation.
the system automatic changed to "NoPO", but when i change the order qty to 70, then i'm able to changed the itemcat to "AuPo"!!
60 Qty Stock available, you have created sales order for 50 Qt here requirement is less than stock availability so system will not allow you to enter AuPo item category Because there no need of auto PO creation for stock.
When you created sales order for 70 Qty, stock available only 60 so there is shortage of 10 Qty.now system needs to allow to create Auto PO to procure the shortage stock of 10 Qty, so system is allowing you to enter Yaupon item category.
There might be some work around kind take help of ABAPer to get the more details about your item category determination.
I hope this will help you,
    Regards,
    Murali.

  • Missing Item Category Group in Sales Area data

    Hi,
Can you please help us. We cannot load some materials to our product catalog because of missing item category group in our sales area in crm. Can you please let us know why this happens? I know that this can be fix by doing request load but what might be the possible rootcause of this problem? Let us know if we need to check something. Thanks!
    Regards,
    Mike

Any such missing configuration can not be dealt with technical manipulations. The easiest and right way is to (middleware) download or maintain all the required configuration settings.
The possible root cause? Most probably the configuration in the source system (ECC) has changed and not all of them are in place in the CRM system. Check and run the delta / full downloads as appropriate.

  • We need a No-Charge TAQ item Category for a Sales BOM

We have a situation where we will bring in several Sales BOM's on a Sales order, but need to have one or more of the Sales BOM's to be a No-Charge item (similar to a TANN Item Cat).
We are using ERLA (top down) Item Category Group for the Sales BOM materials and when we use these materials in a sales order I would like to be able to change the some of the Sales BOM's Item Category to a No Charge category (we created a ZAQ item category for this situation), but when you creating the Sales Order, the top level item where the pricing is (the TAQ item category) is GRAYED out and I can not change it to our new ZAQ category, even though it appears in the drop down list for the Item Category.
Is there any way to make the top level TAQ item category for Item Cat. Group ERLA a maintainable field on the Sales order?

As I know- std , will not support Return scenario of Sales BOM & Free goods.
Work around may be needed to achieve this, other than standard.
Create Zitem category by copying from REN - (ZREN - with structure scope & application), determine item category for sub items as well.
Maintain copy controls accordingly from RE to LR - Ret delivery & RE- Credit for returns.
    Test & revert.

  • Standard and free goods item category

    Hi
I have created one standard materia XYZ. in MM01( for Sales org 1000/ Dist. channel 10/  plant 1000.) and i have assigned TAN to this . Now i also need to process XYZ as free goods in some transactions. If  I  extend this material for the same organizational levels and  assign TANN to my material XYZ. then at the time of creating sales order how the system will respond?
Or should i have to change the item category in VF01 every time when i want to give XYZ as free goods?
what should be the right procedure?
    Regards
    Jyoti

    Hi Jyoti,
You mentioned that some times you send it as free item for this you better to enter TANN item category manually in the sales order  no need of enter the item category in the VF01.
Before entering the TANN in the sales order for free item you do the itemcategory determination in VOV4 transaction with TANN as like this
Document typeItemcatogory group-->Default itemcategory(DfltC)as TANManual item category as TANN(Mltca).
Now you can able to enter TANN itemcategory manually in sales order.
I hope it will help you,

  • Utilizing item category ALEN - Creation of PO is not auto generated

    All,
I am utilizing item category ALEN during my sales order creation process.  ALEN is set up with "create purchase order automatically" flag.  I am utilzing schedule line CB and I have maintained the order type NB, item category is 0 and acct. assign category is M.  When I save the sales order, the purchase requisition is being created, but no purchase order.  In fact, it doesn't seem to be even pulling against the data maintained in OVX5 (See below).  I have read OSS note 332475 and I have followed those instructions, but my PO is not being generated.
One other question - when the ALE data is input for the sales organization (t-code OVX5), what have others input when the vendor, purchasing org and plant can vary (meaning, at times we transfer from plant A to plant B; then for the same sales organization, we transfer from plant B to plant A.  Maintaining just one vendor against the same sales organization does not make sense to me as it will change depending upon the sourcing and receiving plants for the same sales org.
I have performed a search in OSS on Third Party Order Processing when it relates to individual purchase orders and how to properly configure when using ALEN and TAB - very little information to be found.  I can find a great deal of information on third party processing when it relates to the utilization of TAS and ALES item category.
Any insights or areas to check would be very greatful.
    Regards,
    Sandy

    All,
This issue has been resolved internally.  I had to set the CB schedule line to using "7" stock transfer item category .. then apply a note to address an error message (note 883133).

  • Item Category Usage query

    Hi Gurus
Please tell me how item category usage is getting assigned to a material?
    We define item category usage...
We assign it to a sales doc typ, item category group to get item category.
But how it is getting determined for a material? Where is the link?
    Regards
    Murali

    hello, friends.
i've actually been thinking about this issue since i started posting.  yes, you can find item usage in customer-material info.  but where is item usage assigned so that this is relevant in item category determination (as in:  sales doc type + item category group + item usage + higher level item category = item category)?
how does the system, for example, know that usage is blank (for normal processing) or 'FREE' for free goods?  is the item usage in the condition records created?
where does the system find the indicator (item usage CHSP) when batches are involved?
although there have been many helpful threads, including the 'where used' list, a definitive answer would be very much welcome.
    regards.
