How long can a disk repair take?

I was having a huge kernal panic problem so I upgraded my iMac G4 to Tiger, the crashes increased. Then I updated Tiger via Software Update on 12/2. I haven't made it to a full boot-up yet. Tiger's untilies could not repair the directories so I tried my old Tech Tool disc. It ran seemingly (no error messagess) repairing the directories for 4 days and was going strong when I read that I was not supposed to do that. Now I have Disk Warrior 3.0.3 and it has been running for 30 hrs. Think I'm on the road to recovery and how long might this road be? 4 days?

First and for future reference, when experiencing a major problem such as a kernel panic with an existing OS, you should not install a major OS Upgrade or Update to the existing OS until the problem is resolved.
As you also discovered, the old TechTool disc you used is not compatible with Tiger so it sounds like your hard drive directory is in very bad shape.
I guess it is also safe to assume you don't have and maintain a regular backup?
Not sure how long Disk Warrior will take but it shouldn't take 4 days. I would also prepare for the worst if you don't have a backup.

How long can publishing a page take?

I am having trouble publishing several pages. It is taking so long. The "publish" and "visit" buttons on my iWeb are grey-ed out. If I try to close iWeb a window pops up saying I may prevent this page from publishing if I click"Quit", yet there is no visible indication that the page is being published at all? Where as other pages published within a couple minutes, this one isn't. I have gone to "file" and clicked "Publish All to Mobile Me". I have also checked to see if I have any large files or anything out of the ordinary that would prevent the page from publishing. What should I do?

thanks for the kind words. for more than a year i was using one of the standard white iweb templates but i was not excited about the fact that i could not change the fonts for the tabs. so i thought about it for a while and decided to start of using a plain white page and putting my own design on it and liking everything with hypertext links which is what i did and that iweb is able to do. it was so easy. all of my text that is married to the graphic images have this invisible box that has a hypertext link to it. i created all of the graphics using 800 X 600 pixel size at 72ppi in photoshop. after the image was created i used the save to web feature in photoshop and got the image size down to something like 82k. yes...82k. that is small. all you need is 72ppi because that is screen resolution and anything above that is overkill. most people do not optimize their images and that is when it takes time for the page to load. when you do the optimization it is worth it. so using hypertext links you can literally design a custom page using iweb and no one would ever know. for my web address i got that from godaddy.com and i am masking out my mac address so no one ever knows that this is all going through apple and my mobileme account. let me know if you have any othyer questions and i will try and help you if i can.

How long does the warranty repair service take?

I bought my laptop on 2007-07-06 and few days later I have noticed that my RTC battery isn working properly, so I have returned my laptop to Toshiba on 25.07.2007. On the Toshiba Service Status site http://weblord.toshiba-tro.de/WeblordTracking/default.aspx i see that they received it on 27.07.2007.
The next entry, which is 30.07.2007, says that the repair is in progress and nothing else. So, does anybody know how long can take a battery change, and how long do I have to wait for my laptop?

As you know it is not easy to say how long time the repair will take and I presume it is not the same by every authorized service partner. Some of them do this faster and some need more time because they have no parts for replacement.
If you are now in PL (Poland I suppose) it will take a little bit more time as usual.
BTW: why you didnt try to load BIOS battery as described in Users Manuals? If I am remembering well the loading time is about 48 hours. If you want you can check it in Users Manuals.

How long can Validating System Tables Post Import really take?

We imported a large transport set (25GB) into a target environment and it ran for about 40 hours and got to the last step Validating System Tables Post Import..., which is essentially executing the Schema Validation Utility (SVU).
At that point it seemed to get stuck, as we let it run for 24 hours and nothing was added to the log and it didn't fail and it didn't complete.
This does not seem reasonable. How long can this possibly take? Can we safely stop the process and run the SVU independently?

My habit is to save and close all files before sleeping, and shut down at the last percent if I knew I wasn't going to be able to charge within a few hours. My open files and current work is to valuable for me to have the computer sleep right in the middle of whatever I was doing, and the health of my OS is too important to me to ignore the possibility of a hard shutdown.
I do not know for a fact that the machine executes a hard shutdown, or actually does a proper shutdown sequence when it knows a hard shutdown is immenent.

I've only been an iPhone user for a couple of years. Up until this "upgrade" things have been fairly acceptable. After reading all of the push-back on iOS 7 and seeing a couple of friends' phones that were upgraded, there is no way I'm upgrading. I'm eligible for a new phone with Verizon now and before making a decision, I'm going to take some time looking at options. My question is, how long can I use my 4s with iOS 6 installed before things stop working? I use a couple of very serious apps on my iPhone that I need for work (weather-related) and I'd like to make sure that they are still functional while I look for options. Any idea how long before things just stop working? Can one go indefinitely, as long as one doesn't upgrade the apps too? Thanks for any insight.

You can use it as long as your apps are supported and you dont need to restore your phone. I have an iPod 4 that I cant update on and my apps are slowly becoming out of date. As apps are updated for ios 7 some updates may not be compadible with ios 6 so if you really need an app to update good luck. If you phone is broke or something and has to be restored when you restore it it will be automatically updated to ios 7.

Mine's usually about 5 minutes, but it wouldn't be more than 30-40, if it's any longer.......
You can't do much else besides pull the plug. If it causes further problems you should be able to restore as below:
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    1.    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    2.    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    3.    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    4.    Open iTunes.
    5.    Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
On the other hand you may be able to simply start the update again. If however the update continues to fail, you should try the restore routine above.

It depends of the space your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad has to back up on iCloud. You can see what's backed up in Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage, and select the backup, so you will be able to choose what you want to back up. The device will back up automatically when it's connected to the power adapter

As to how long you have to watch it, from here :
