How long can we expect to be able to use Cirrus and is FMS4 needed ?

Hi,
We are a research center where we would like to implement 1 on 1 live tutoring and as we do not have extensive budget a p2p solution saving ourselves some bandwidth is very tempting.
Seeing that Cirrus is still in beta and that FMS4 enterprise seams to be the only FMS with this option, I wonder if we can use Stratus with confidence what it will serve its purpose for a long time.
Thanks
William

Also, be aware of the following:
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  Something as small as an iPod/iPhone should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • How long can I expect the battery to last when listening to audio books

My batteries seem to lose power quickly.  How long should I expect it to last when listening to audio books or radio?

May 30 hour with audio book since that is the same as music.
Radio is a lot less since that requires wifi. Maybe 10 hours

  • How long can I expect the extracting process to take?

I've downloaded the trial version of Premiere, it has taken about 1h 45m.  Now it is "extracting", how long will this take?

It shouldn't take too long. If it does, switch off of anti-virus for a while and then try again. That should speed up the process.

  • HT6114 My iMac seems to have frozen during the update- how long should I expect the update to take? The 'installing software update' bar is still showing itself working but has been stuck in the same position for over an hour.

My iMac seems to have frozen during the update- how long should I expect the update to take? The 'installing software update' bar is still showing itself working but has been stuck in the same position for over an hour. Any thoughts?

Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:
    http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/10/os-x-mountain-lion-10-8-1-beta-released-for-dev-t esting-may-include-wi-fi-fix/
Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery.

  • How long can you revert back to the original photo after cropping?

Is there any time limit for how long can you revert back to the original photo after cropping? Are you always able to revert back?
    Thanks.

DAM = "Digital Asset Manager", a fancy name for a filing system.
iPhoto keeps the original and makes one (usually much smaller) copy based on your edits. It is non-destructive in that if you crop, and later change the color, iPhoto will go back to the original and apply the corrections to get the new image, it will not simply modify the preview.
If you want a high quality copy of the image, use the export function which allows you to specify the size and compression.

  • How smoothly can I expect KDE 4.4 5-1 - KDE 4.5.1?

I've been trying to hold off upgrading KDE because I've had such miserable trouble with it.  Right now, I'm running 4.4.5-1.  A couple of things are broken but it's fairly stable and certainly usable.
How smoothly can I expect a 4.5.1 upgrade to go?  I'm not desperate but I can't sort any of the list containers right now and I can't upgrade KTorrent which I'd really like to do.

Not unsurprisingly, it's taken a while to be able to post this message.  KTorrent is not working (draws part of it's application window and then hangs and have to kill it from the command line.  Kontact is completely dead.  Containers still won't sort but now it doesn't seem like such a big deal.
I've loved KDE for years but it's gnome time.  I'm pretty sure my last clean install of KDE was May of this year.  That's four months....  not bad by recent KDE standards.
Thats because 4.5 has many new features compared to 4.4, thats why theres always many problems when upgrading using same old config. Four months with no clean kde config was ok because you only upgraded from e.g. 4.4.0 to 4.4.1, 4.4.2. The same happens with kde 4.5.0 to kde 4.5.1 transistion. So if you will now have a clean config, you will  be able to use it next five months. with no problems (until kde 4.6 will come up)
That is not true. The KConfig Xt system used in KDE should ensure that updating should work. Your config files only store the changes that are different from the default. Now when you install a new version the file containing all the defaults is being overwritten. So for me -- as I have noticed elsewhere -- it appears that some programs mess up.
And as it turns out it is often plasma that does not work when updating. Not sure what fails there.
EdgarButan wrote:That may be true, but it is completely unacceptable.
With KDE4 (which I at no time thought of as a failure! Not even with KDE 4.0), it seems to have become an acceptable solution for all kinds of problems that occured when updating from one version to another to "simply remove your config".
Two of my panels disappeared ("disappear" as in "I cannot see them anymore"; they're still there showing notifications and eating RAM and CPU, but I cannot remove them) when updating from 4.5.0 to 4.5.1. No non-KDE applications are displayed in the Systray. The comic plasmoid among others fails to start because its engine fails; I cannot install new Plasmoids via GHNS, they simply don't appear in my list.
This is not even a major release! What's the solution? Once again remove my config and reconfigure my entire desktop?
I really don't want to change my clothes every time I wash my hands.
Btw. the issue with comic and plasmoids via GHNS was a bug in KZip and is fixed in 4.5.2 --> yeah I know still sucks that it did not work in 4.5.1 to begin with.
Please report your issue with sorting on bko, if you haven't already.

  • How long can Validating System Tables Post Import really take?

We imported a large transport set (25GB) into a target environment and it ran for about 40 hours and got to the last step Validating System Tables Post Import..., which is essentially executing the Schema Validation Utility (SVU).
At that point it seemed to get stuck, as we let it run for 24 hours and nothing was added to the log and it didn't fail and it didn't complete.
This does not seem reasonable. How long can this possibly take? Can we safely stop the process and run the SVU independently?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

My habit is to save and close all files before sleeping, and shut down at the last percent if I knew I wasn't going to be able to charge within a few hours. My open files and current work is to valuable for me to have the computer sleep right in the middle of whatever I was doing, and the health of my OS is too important to me to ignore the possibility of a hard shutdown.
I do not know for a fact that the machine executes a hard shutdown, or actually does a proper shutdown sequence when it knows a hard shutdown is immenent.

  • Cannot boot! Cannot charge! How long can we support for RIM?

First of all, I am very disappointed to RIM
From the beginning to now I have used many BlackBerry mobile phone, RIM has been rigorous work and good service. But since I used 9520, now playbook, lets me lose confidence to the RIM, this is real
The escalation of the 668 systems, playbook can not boot, countless toss, numerous times to restart, no solution . After friends advice, finally able to boot.
I don't know such a famous company, before the update products, why there will be such a mistake.
Boot problem is solved, but then again, playbook does not charge, still numerous toss, numerous times to restart, power is reduced from 20% to the present 0%. until now still can not solve.
I don't know, so rigorous style of a company, why not on major issues, the first time to give solutions for every user. Why???
How long can we support for rim? Maybe every user heart will understand.
    Add content:
    Not charging performance:
In addition to power has no change and in reducing, other phenomenon are exactly the same than a normal machines
No matter how I restart the device, how to charge, all have no effect
    Try method:
    every 4 minutes hold "power+v-+v+“(three key)to restart; replacement charger plug; the mode of standby charging; continuous plug-in charger; after connecting DBS to connect the charger; continuous charging hours;
The above methods are fellow Netizens suggestions, but no one can save my playbook.
RIM, can you tell me how to do?

why did not have anybody, do something?

  • I ordered a battery for my laptop because it said to replace battery soon.  How long can I let the new battery sit around as I wait for the old one to run out of more charge?

I ordered a battery for my laptop because it said to replace battery soon.  How long can I let the new battery sit around as I wait for the old one to run out of more charge?  Will the new one become less effective if it sits around too long?

How much capacity is remaining on your current battery?
    Check your power status
From the  menu: Hold OPTION and click System Information... èHardware è Power
Copy and Paste in your reply.
The new battery will become less effective if you store it in a hot or humid environment. It should be stored at room temperature (22 C).
    Long term storage (6 months):
Apple recommends that you store the battery with a 50% charge. If you store a battery when it’s fully discharged, it could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding any charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may experience some loss of battery capacity, meaning it will have a shorter life.

  • How long can the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter last?

    Hi,
I've been using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (genuine) for a year now but not everyday. Yesterday I bought a new display that needs this adapter, so now is the time that it will be used everyday. I was wondering how long can it last (or operational hours) if it were to sit in the same place, not unplugged, with an average use of 4 hours a day?
    Thanks
    PS. This one: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/B/mini-displayport-to-vga-adapter.

    This is impossible to predict.
