How long does Apple push iMessages?

My MacBook Pro has been offline for approx. two months now. When I started the iMessage App today there was no conversation from after the last time my notebook was online. Also I didn't receive new iMessages while being online. The address is the same on all my devices (iMac, iPod and MB Pro). I haven't changed any settings since the setup. So my question simply is how long does Apple push iMessages to iDevices? Even iMessages I had sent on Christmas from my iPad or iMac were not displayed. Although I restarted the app multiple times nothing changed. It would be interesting to know, if the "old" iMessages which were sent from my other devices can be synced to my MacBook in any possible way. Thanks for any help given.
I'm sorry for my bad English.

I'm confused guys... yesterday when I did the up-to-date, I was given the code right there in the online Apple store when the 'order' was processed - even tho it was listed as 'free'. Are you not even getting the order processed  in the Apple store?
the link posted by mtlscream2 above isn't the shortcut one... use this!

  • How long does apple keep messages in imessage?

    Hello,
Can any one tell me how long does Apple keep messages sent via iMessage in the iCloud (or anywhere else)?
    Thanks

So forceful! You have a source for that subpoena and a date I suppose? My Google-Fu must be weak because I couldn't find such a subpoena on the net.
By the way, that answer isn't a "no." "As long as necessary" can be along time since Apple cannot determine when you've read it everywhere you want to and so it's OK to delete.
I was able to pull iMessages from old deleted message threads on a new device. I also come home and sit at my Mac and my message conversation from the day on my iPhone becomes mirrored in iMessages on my computer, attachments and all, where I then copy the things I can't on the phone like ringtones and so on. Anyone can try this at home and I suggest you do. Where are these messages stored all day as I'm using my phone to be later mirrored on my home Mac?
I'm not seeing an error. I'm not just looking at unsent messages. Does it even matter anyway? Apple stores messages and their ToS states that they can do this, you agreed to it, and this policy can change at any time without your consent. Read it, thoroughly. I had to deconstruct it in a law class for a paper. I doubt you did this.
You are defensive but nobody is attacking Apple. Of course Apple stores messages for a long time. Why wouldn't they? Apple necessarily has access to the iMessage servers exactly the same as the servers that store your email or photo streams. There are legitimate business reasons! No one is saying they are abusing this access. This isn't even an issue but saying it doesn't happen betrays a lack of knowledge how this tech works.
If someone sent you a bunch of iMessages, maybe hundreds, and you haven't read them they aren't stored indefinitely until you read them on a device or on a Mac with your iCloud account? Can you say how long? No, you can't and neither can anyone outside of Apple and this is a changing number anyway.
You believe that once a message is sent that Apple immediately deletes it? Why would they when there's no requirement? You might check it from another device later on, Apple can't know if you've read it everywhere you want to. Syncing conversations across devices that are checked at different times requires some amount of storage of historical messages! Deleting a message immediately once sent would prevent this.
Do you thoroughly understand the technology involved? Do you have inside Apple knowledge of trade secrets?
I posted in this thread because I genuinely want to help the OP and you are speaking without evidence whereas my assertion is easily tested by the community in 10 minutes.

  • How long does Apple store text messages?  I need old messages from July-Sept 2011

How long does apple store text messages.  I need old text messages from July - September 2011.  These messages were NOT deleted from phone.  I can only go back as far as July 1, 2012.  Please help, this is important!!!

    Thank you!!!
What I concluded is that the phone information (with text message content) that we have came from the police department...when they conducted interviews, they asked for their phones and obtained the content, pictures, etc. that way. We also have logs from AT&T with information starting a few months prior to the incident; this information, however, is solely limited to who sent, who received, when, type of data, etc - NO content. I'm assuming that those are the logs that can be subpoenaed after the alloted amount of time, say, 10 days.
    Does that sound correct?

  • How long does Apple usually take to revise and accept an App?

I'm waiting for receiving some news from Apple and it's being 4 days since I sent my App. How long does the process usually takes?

We are just users like yourself. That is something only Apple would know. My best guess is that an app review would probably take several weeks for all of the parties involved to finish their work. You may want to post something in the developers forum to see what their experience has been.

  • How long does apple hold ipod for

ok... i sent in my ipod away in the empty box yesterday, its not a specialized one and how long will apple take to ship it back, and also if its gonna be the same color... or if its new or refurbished

The length of time Apple takes to return it to you will depend on what's wrong with it, and how busy they are. Wherever possible they will replace your iPod with one of the same colour, and as the mini is no longer manufactured, it's likely to be a refurbished iPod.

  • In the Apple Push Notification Service,How long does a push notification sit in queue before being removed?

Official developer documentation isn't clear about this.
Apple Push Notification Service includes a default Quality of Service (QoS) component that performs a store-and-forward function. If APNs attempts to deliver a notification but the device is offline, the QoS stores the notification. It retains only one notification per application on a device: the last notification received from a provider for that application. When the offline device later reconnects, the QoS forwards the stored notification to the device. The QoS retains a notification for a limited period before deleting it.

This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple. We have no way to know what and when Apple will do something.

  • How long does apple take to send a motherboard? (From the Us to Europe)

My new 17'' macbook pro had a problem with its motherboard so apple will send me a new one. Does anyone know how long it will take to arrive at my house?
    Cheers,
    Robert

In fact, Apple doesn't sell parts directly to end users at all. New Apple parts can only be bought by Apple authorized service providers and Apple's own service technicians. From whom did you order this board?

  • How long does Apple build their computers to last?

I'm doing a research project for school that requires me to compare how many years computers are built to last vs. how many years the average user keeps them for. I've found that typically desktops are kept for 3-5 years and laptops are kept for around 2 years, but I can't seem to find how long the companies intend them to last...

I do not think you will get an aswer to that question, as I do not believe there is one.  No electronics manufacturer builds a system with a specific lifespan.  You may be able to compute one, based on the minimum MTBF of the components, but not all components have such data available, and even then MTBF is often a very poor measure of effective lifespan  Also, things like MTBF are highly dependent on the specifics of use and environment of operation, so vary tremendously in the real world.
Its a bit like asking how long anything is designed to last - until a critical operational part fails but that will vary widely, especially for products produced and sold in the tens or hundreds of millions of units all over the globe.
I've had hard drives that have failed within days or weeks of being new out of the box, and others that have lasted for literally decades.  My old powerbook G4 is now 7 years old and still runs (one RAM slot is non-functional), the Acer Windows box beside it is the same age, and has been turned off for maybe all of a month or two in the past 7 years.  My main MBP is 4 years old this year and still works perfectly, although it got a new battery recently.
Even if manufacturers do have some form of estimating aggregate expected operational life of their assembled machines, I doubt they will ever talk about them to the public - there is just no way to come up with a single meaningful estimate that anyone but a statistician or an engineer would truly understand and appreciate.
You will note that car manufacturers also never mentioned anything like a "design" life span - same issue - just way too many variables to consider to reduce things to a single estimated value.
I'd bet Apple, like any other company, "intends" them to last, as long as they last, whatever that may be for any particular unit and particular owner.

  • How long does Apple finance take to process

I ordered an iPad air through finance, on boxing day. My loan got accepted by barclays the following day (27th) however havent heard anything from either apple or barclays since. Just wondered if i needed to do anything else?, (as on my order status, it still says awating payment) or if it is a matter of just waiting, a rough idea of how long it will take for me to recieve my item?
I get that i ordered it during a busy time of the year, with there being many bank holidays etc. just wanted a rough estimate of what happens next or if i should be concerned/follow it up?
    Thanks.

No need to be concerned but I would follow it up to inquire why the payment status has not changed since the loan was approved.

  • How long does apple care usually take to repair an iPad?

I'm shipping off my iPad today to Apple Care today and I just wanted to know how long Apple Care usually takes to repair or replace an iPad.

From what I understand, it is immediate. They don't repair them, they just give you a "new" (possibly refurb) one.
