How long does it take to install the app Garageband for iPad?

I installed the app garageband but it took very long I installed it from about 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Is this a problem with my iPad or computer or is this normal?

That is an extraordinarily long time to download a 369MB app - IMO. However there are other factors to consider - your Internet connection speed, how busy the server is, how many others are trying to download it. But even with all of those factors taken into consideration, that is way too long - at least compared to my experiences.
I downloaded and installed the iOS 5 update - restored the iPad and all of the content - signed up for my icloud.com account - all in about 90 minutes - on the evening that the update was released.
Maybe I have been spoiled by my ISP and the fast connection that I have at home.

    You need to drop the Logic Pro x icon into applications, this will then install onto the machine, once installed click on Logic Pro X icon, application will start to download in a matter of minutes, the blue bar will be visible showing the download progress.
    When the application is fully installed you can then download all the additional instruments if required.

    mine took a long time lost patience and rebooted it and then I started from the begining

If that's the case, the during of a software update will depend greatly on the speed of your computer and/or your phone. I've seen the process vary from 4 minutes to an hour.     How long it takes depends partially on your bank. Once they release it, it could take several days for the authorization to roll off of your account. It is generally not a problem unless you're using a debit card, which will lock the funds in your checking account and make them unavailable, which I presume you did or you wouldn't be worried about it.
    This is not unique to Apple. That's a problem when using debit cards for any purchase.  Several years ago, when gas prices spiked to $4 a gallon here, gas stations would routinely authorize and hold upwards of $100 every time you tried to pay at the pump. Created some major headaches for the working stiffs just trying to get to their jobs and pay the bills.
