How long does it take to restore?

My computer crashed while itunes is updating my ophone from 4.0 to 4.1, so I had to do a restore. After 8 hours and still not finished, I disconnected it. I don't have any valuable data on my iphone. How can I do a clean install of iOS whatever version?

A restore with iTunes does or should not take 8 hours or anywhere close to it. The entire restore process can fluctuate depending on the iPhone's storage capacity and how much iTunes content is selected to be transferred to the iPhone with also includes the size of all selected apps to be installed.
Did your computer crash while the update was being downloaded or after the update was downloaded during the actual install?
Try temporarily disabling your antivirus software during the restore process. If nothing occurs when selecting Restore, try placing your iPhone into Recovery mode. If placing your iPhone into Recovery mode is successful, this will require restoring your iPhone with iTunes.

How long does it take to restore firmware on iphone5.The phone is only 3 week old and has been in recovery mode for nearly 3 hours now?

    - No. That is too long. What does the status bar in iTunes say the iPod is doing?
    - Terminate the sync. Force close iTunes if necessary then reboot the computer. Also reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try again. If still problem come back with what the status bar says when it stopped.

  • How long does it take to restore 2TB drive to a New external?

I recently purchased a new 2tb external drive FW800 and wanted copy data from my older 2tb FW400 to this one. I used the restore method in Disk Utility to copy disk partition to the new partition. Its being saying "setup" for hours and hasn't copied. Is this normal? I even tried to hit cancel and nothing ever happens.  I'm thinking maybe I should have just did a data copy? How long does this normally take. Am I just being Impatient?
Also will rebooting and starting over do anything to the hard drive if its in the middle or a format or something?

It depends on how much app, music , etc need to be transfered. But 5 hours is a bit too long I think

    Hey Leabea18,
Thanks for the question. If you are experiencing issues restoring your iPhone, you might wish to attempt a restore in recovery mode:

  • How long does it take to restore my iphone5 ?

Its been over 24 hours of restoring ? Does it usually take this long ? I just noticed all my pictures finished uploading but its still saying its restoring and wont let me update to iOS7

Depends on how fast your internet is to download the newset version of ios, your phone only stays in recovery mode for about 15 mins then it will time out and go back to normal mode if you forced it into recovery mode
i would suggest unplugging the device, restating your computer, make sure your anti virus is turned off then performing the restore again.

  • HT1414 how long does it take to restore my apple 4

Does it really take 70 minutes to retore my phone to factory settings?

Possibly... that depends on the amount of content that must be restored/synced to the device.

  • How long does it take to restore an iPod?

    Hi
I have a 4th generation 20 GB iPod (click-wheel) that was formatted for Windows. I've followed some instructions in order to re-format it to work with my PowerMac G5: I first erased it using Disk Utility, and then with the iPod updater (latest update) I selected Restore.
At this moment there's a window saying "Restoring Myname's iPod" with a progress bar, But, there's no progress in the progress bar, just those flowing stripes as in one of those barbershop poles.
And it's like that for an hour and fifteen minutes. My iPod is blinking "Do Not Disconnect". Is this normal? If not, what can I do? How much more should I wait till I know for sure it's time to forcefully abort?

    thanks for the reply, Mitch
Unable do Delete any partitions as the button was grayed out, but successfuly put it in Disk Mode, then Reset it, and now it's back to normal.
But... it mounts on Mac, updater suggests an update, my only option is Restore, I select it, and I'm back in the endless restore progress bar. iPod says Do not disconnect, and updater says "Restoring IPOD" with no progress.
    What else can I do?

  • Lightroom 3. How long does it take to restore a catalog?

During the import process (one card had completed and had inserted another) my iMac froze. After several minutes of watching the beachball, force quit LR. Started it again and the Restoring Catalog message box "The catalog named "Lightroom 3 Catalog" was left in an inconsistent state. Lightroom must restore the catalog before proceeding. This may take several minutes." immediately popped up. Folks at the Adobe help desk told me it may take several hours but its still restoring after 5 hours. Clueless as to what to do next other then upgrade to LR5.

It's hard for me to imagine that upgrading to LR5 will fix this problem.
I never had this problem, but if the folks at Adobe said it takes a few hours (and they are never wrong!), then if I were you, I'd let it go overnight, and if that doesn't work, shut it down, and then get your most recent backup of the catalog file and use that.

    this is a iphone 3gs

thank you for this explanation and i agree verizon should do something nice for you!  i also had my phone unlocked and now in the only two countries i've tried i get the same message...verizon says they cannot help me b/c they do not provide support for foreign SIM Cards...unbelievable.  Anyway, since I have updated to iOS7 I do not have those options you mention.."Settings > Carrier, turn off automatic searching. In Settings > Network > Roaming, turn off International CDMA"  Any ideas for how I might get my SIM card to work?  I know it's not the card(s) as both times they work immediately and fine on my wife's AT&T iPhone 4S...thanks

  • IPhone Restore: How long does it take?

My iPhone needs to be restored. How long does it take to restore and then restore the iPhone from the backup?

Hard to say, it depends on your iphone model, the data to back up and the number of apps installed adding their part of data to the backup.
If you copy all the pictures from the camera roll before and delete the original files, it should be under one hour, close to 30min using a 3G. Also transfer your videos before you start.

  • I have had to restore my ipad how long does it take its only two weeks old

i have had to restore my ipad 2 how long does it take and its only two weeks old

Depends on what method you chose to restore, wifi or itunes. Speed of internet and of computer. Whether you're restoring to factory settings or from a backup. There are many factors involved.
Without knowing any other info, I would plan on anywhere from 30min. to 2hrs

  • How long does it takes for iTunes to restore software on a 5s?

How long does it takes for iTunes to restore software in a iPhone?

There are three major portions involved in a restore:
    1.  Downloading the latest copy of iOS to your Mac for installation on the iPhone.
    2.  Installing the software from your Mac onto the iPhone.
    3.  Restoring all the contents of your iPhone (except iOS, which was done in the above step).
Step 1 will depend on your Mac's download speed.  We are talking about downloading more than 1GB.
Step 2 should take about 10 minutes or less.
Step 3 will depend on how much personal stuff (e.g., apps, photos, music) you had on your iPhone.  It might take minutes, or an hour or more.

  • How long does a iphone 3gs restore take?

How long does a iphone 3gs restore take?
I tried to update my iphone 3gs to the new software iOS4.0.1 I guess and the phone has been restoring and i cannot see any progress.

Depends on low the battery was, but not out bounds. Mine is usually charged in about an hour or so, but I seldom let it get to near zero (and frankly don't time how long it takes).
