How long does it take to upgrade from Snow Leopard to OS X Mavericks?

I am trying to upgrade my Snow Leopard to Mavericks but when I start downloading I new icon appears saying OS X Mavericks waiting and it does not show any advancement in the downloading bar.

It is a 5 GB+ size file, so it isn't a quick download, especially if you are attempting to download it via Wi-Fi. If you can download it via Ethernet it will be 2-3 times faster.
Go to the App Store/Purchases and make sure the download hasn't paused. If it has there will be a resume button you can click.

Recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion then Mavericks. I have Final Cut Express and when I export to Quicktime, and open to play the movie, Quicktime starts to "convert" it? What is this about????

My existing movies are all the following types straight from FinalCut
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1920 × 1080, Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
This particular movie is 6.66 Gb
The new Quicktime player in OS Mavericks converts these to the following format:
    Apple ProRes 422, 1920 x 1080
Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
And a movie size of 6.48 Gb
Please, please can someone tell me why?

  • How long does it take for refunds from eBay to be added to bank account

hi I had received a refund yesterday from a seller as I had to return an item. I've had the letter stating that the seller has refunded my money so looked on PayPal and it says that he's refunded and says its refunded to my bank account and that the status is completed. But when I look on my online banking no monies has gone through. How long does it take to show in my bank? Thanks

If you funded the original paypal payment to the seller with a debit or credit card then it won't go back to your paypal balance.
Once marked as completed it will automatically go back to your bank account or credit card but takes up to a week to process through to the bank and a bit longer for a c.c (paypal say allow 30 days but I have never waited longer than a week for mine).

  • How long does it take to upgrade iphone 3g?

i was on the i-tunes site and accepted an opportunity to upgrade my 3g, hours later....
how long does it typically take?  thanks!

imagine, kilted tom, that if i am on some apple support community site asking such dumb-*** questions and providing inadequate information, i might be just some average person who bought an i-phone, know little about it and even less about how internet connection speeds work.
imagine too, that we all in fact have different areas of expertise, and i am seeking support because this situation draws on none of mine.
now, i suspect you might know whether it would be three days or six to eight hours to download this frickin' upgrade, and i asked you what information might help you give me some idea, but instead you want to get a little pissy about the topic.  not my interest to engage.
do you see what i'm getting at here?  thanks for your attempt to help.  hope you earned some points. have an awesome day!

  • How long does it take for points from a canceled order to be returned?

I used a My Best Buy certificate on an order, but decided to cancel it. How long will it take for the points to show back up?

    Good morning DesertLynx83,
I hope that you are enjoying your Tuesday so far.
As you may read in similar threads on the forum, it can usually take between 3 and 6 business days for a certificates point value to repost to a member's account following a return or cancellation.  Please do not hesitate to send me a private message if the point value for the certificate you redeemed does not repost to your account after 6 business days and I will see what I can do to ensure those points are added.  To send a private message, you will want to login to the forum and click on the blue button in my signature labeled "Private Message."

  • How long does it take for upgrade eligiblity to show up after returning phone?

I returned a phone in store today and already receieved the credit on my account, but it shows that I am not eligible for an upgrade on my line. I was wondering how long it usually takes for my upgrade eligiblity to show back up after returning a phone. Thanks!

Always make sure this is reset before leaving the store. But a simple call to customer service should get it fixed right away.

  • How long does it take to upgrade bb software.....??

My phone has been updating for nearly 2hours and all its saying now is ''Checking for blackberry device software updates'' i thinking of just pulling the lead out nowwww

To get through the upgrade will take an hour or more.  To just check for the upgrade, which I believe is what your phone is doing, should take about 10 seconds.
As Sonic suggested, yank that battery out and try again.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • How long does it take to upgrade

I started the process a few hours ago.   It went through the download, restart, upgrade.  Then it restarted again as per the application.   It has been sitting there spinning now for about 1.5 hours.
The screen has a Circle with a bar through it and below it the spinning - " I am doing something icon ".     Do I wait longer or am I in a spot where there may be no return.
I have a Mac Book Pro (2009/2010).  It was running the latest software release of Lion 10.7.  I updated all software before starting the upgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Any assistance is appreciated.
    Kim

No errors at all until it reboots after installation.  The only error is the continual spinning of the "I am doing something icon".
I will have to sit with this for a bit, let my system cool down.
For the most part my files are saved on an external drive.   Music and my phone backup are about what I may loose "if" I have to reinstall after formatting.  All my apps are downloadable again.
Hmmmmm. I really do not want to have to blow it away.   Tomorrow I will see if I can sash into it and recover some files.
    Any other ideas are welcome.
    Kim

  • How long does corrosion take to appear from contact with liquid?

I have had problems with o2 about my iphone since december 2010! i got a refubished iphone from o2 in october but by december i started having troubles charging it so sent it back to them for a fix. I was contacted by them saying i would have to pay £129 for my phone to be repaired as it was corroeded in the docking area? i had this iphone from about the 16th oct 2010 until the 3rd dec 2010 would corrosion have become apparent in this time (just over a month!) i had the iphone? I know that while i have had the iphone it has never ever been in contact with any liquids.
Be very greatful for any help or advice as i feel like im fighting a losing battle here!

You can try this, don't think there are any Radio Shacks in Europe, but someplace should sell the same thing.
Radio Shack Precision Electronics Cleaner, contains Isohexane, Difluoroethane & Ethanol.  This type of cleaner eliminates any corrosion, evaporates, and provides a layer of protection. Good luck.

  • "How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"

Yesterday there was a question in the USALUG.org "How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"
This question was a good question, so I decide to make the ultimate test. I have a lot of computers standing here around, and remembered that on one of them was have already Archlinux installation. I was right, when I booted, the system check said me, that the system was 253 days not checked anymore. I got so excited that I forgot to check was it one of my 0.7.2 Gimmick or 0.8 Voodoo installations.

After reboot the system loads all new applications with out any problem. Later I replaced the intel-video driver "xf86-video-i810 1.7.4-6" with the driver xf86-video-intel 2.2.0-2. No problems at all.

definitely. By contrast, here's a regular upgrade on my debian box -- out of the blue it's having some problem with one of the packages, and it's turning into a regular recursive nightmare.

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.

It's so "delicate" and temperamental compared to the no-nonsense, straightforward approach of Arch. If one little thing is off, the entire system has a hissy-fit and won't do anything until you hunt the internet high and low searching for a solution, encountering all the debian hawks along the way who are ready to rip your head off at the first suggestion that debian isn't directly from god and could have a problem. Imo, Arch is the best linx distro hands down. Nothing else even comes close.
