How long does it take you to develop...

How long, on average, does it take you to create a medium-sized project, when working alone? By "medium" I mean around 25-40 source files, with an ESLOC value of around 700-1300. (effective source lines of code, which does not include comments, package statements, and optionally involves imports (but in this case do not include import statements because it only works if you do it consistently)).
By create I mean including the design, the coding, and just enough testing to be able to distribute it as a first-version beta application. It would also be nice if you say how long these three stages takes you individually.
I know this is a very general, and perhaps ambiguous question, but try your best to answer. In addition to your answer, can you post your programming experience (i.e. whether you do it for a living, for a hobby, if you've majored/minored CS, how long you've been programming, etc.).
Why am I asking this? Just curious.

I think the average in my classes are about 200-300 lines of code.
By create I mean including the design, the coding,
and just enough testing to be able to distribute it

nice if you say how long these three stages takes you

Why am I asking this? Just curious. You probably need to be a bit more specific. Are there techinques which are unknown to me involved? Is it a client application with UI, or is it a multithreaded server application etc etc.

  • How long does it take you...

    To turn on the phone?
Mine takes a good few minutes from off to the unlock screen. I'm not exaggerating with minutes here.
Just trying to figure out if I have a bum phone, or whether this is one of the many bugs/problems that we've encountered with the new iPhone.

Mine is dependent on how it was turned off. It was a crashed application, it takes about two minutes to come back on.
If it was a standard reboot, about 30 seconds.
Nothing alarming in the time at all.
I rarely turn mine off - except for the occasional re-acquisition of signal. Some say it is good to reboot once per day to reacquire GSM signals, others say don't bother. I've been doing that every couple days with every GSM phone I've had so its just a matter of course.
Otherwise, it always stays in sleep mode.

  • How long does it take to get my X61 checked from water spill?

    Hi,
I had spilled some water into my X61 yesterday.
Though I instantly shut it down and try to clean, I was too stupid to try to boot it in ten minutes.
Not sure if it is "OK" right now....
Does anyone have the same experience?
Could you share how long does it take you to have your laptop shipped and checked at lenovo repair center?
    Thanks a lot!

do you have accidental damage warranty? if you don't then you will incur a hefty bill. The check up should not take more than 5 days including shipping, provided that no parts need to changed, if there is parts that are required, then depending on the parts availability, you could wait up to a month or two.

  • How long does it take after switching on an iPhone 4S before you can enter the SIM card PIN?

    Hello,
I have question concerning the iPhone 4s. I am currently not sure if my iPhone 4S shows a malfunction or not.
After switching on my iPhone 4S it can take more 45 seconds before the dialog to enter SIM card PIN is displayed. I observe the same duration with two SIM cards from two different providers. It is not fully reproducible. In some care cases the dialog for requesting the SIM card PIN is also displayed after a few seconds. On my iPhone 3GS and my iPad this dialog is always displayed with the same SIM cards already after a few seconds. Could you please let my know how long does it take with your iPhone 4S?
    Thank you in advance.

I had a similar issue activating by HTC DNA.  The activation instructions Verizon sends are horrible since they explicitly mention that you do not need to call in to activate your phone.  I left my SIM activation running overnight and it just didn't work.  I finally called Verizon from my work phone the next day and the agent informed me that you do need to call to activate your SIM card.  You will need to have your SIM card ready when you call (to provide the long string of numbers on the back of the card).  Hope this helps!

  • "How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"

Yesterday there was a question in the USALUG.org "How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"
This question was a good question, so I decide to make the ultimate test. I have a lot of computers standing here around, and remembered that on one of them was have already Archlinux installation. I was right, when I booted, the system check said me, that the system was 253 days not checked anymore. I got so excited that I forgot to check was it one of my 0.7.2 Gimmick or 0.8 Voodoo installations.

After reboot the system loads all new applications with out any problem. Later I replaced the intel-video driver "xf86-video-i810 1.7.4-6" with the driver xf86-video-intel 2.2.0-2. No problems at all.

definitely. By contrast, here's a regular upgrade on my debian box -- out of the blue it's having some problem with one of the packages, and it's turning into a regular recursive nightmare.

It's so "delicate" and temperamental compared to the no-nonsense, straightforward approach of Arch. If one little thing is off, the entire system has a hissy-fit and won't do anything until you hunt the internet high and low searching for a solution, encountering all the debian hawks along the way who are ready to rip your head off at the first suggestion that debian isn't directly from god and could have a problem. Imo, Arch is the best linx distro hands down. Nothing else even comes close.

  • So how long does it take to load a 160GB iPod using the Convert Higher ...

I have a 160GB Gen 5 that I bought when first released back in the day when they were $400. Through a number of changes, the most recent being the advent of the Convert Higher Bitrate Songs to 128bit AAC feature, I decided to look at what more music I could store. After all was said and done, I ended up with a bit of a disaster with cover art not being properly applied to the music being played. I decided to *restore the ipod* based on suggestions in the discussion boards, and equally important was following the hints and tips here.
    http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp
The advice is especially important in very large library situations to ensure you have uniqueness in the albums you want to display. Hadn't really given it much thought until I had the ability to see the individual albums for the 40K songs on the iPod via the cover art view.
Finally the point of the post...
*So how long does it take to load a 160GB iPod using the Convert Higher Bitrate option now available in iTunes 9.1?* The specs on my computer are not highend by any stretch, but it's no slouch, and neither of the CPUs are ever pegged. At this point I've lost count of how much time it's taken, but the load is going on 3-4 days. With some breaks in between because I need to check each incremental load to verify there is no cover art corruption, correct bad tags and such, but for the most part the loading is visibly slow, and I'm sure the conversion is the cause. I'm not really complaining at this point, but there is clearly room for improvement. And of course unless there is a redo involved in which case I will get quite cranky.
*I would like to hear the experiences of others.*
Finally to lend a bit more credence to the performance concern, my 32GB iPhone 3GS for only about say 28GB of music takes about 24 hrs to load from a 2.2GHz dual core intel laptop, again using the convert higher bitrate option.

With AC power adapter it takes 3-4 hours for a full charge. With the USB charger it takes 9-0 hours for a full charge. I am not happy with them removing the AC charger and other accessoreis at all. It's business but it still stinks.
I know I would rethink my purchase but would most likely end up buying the Micro anyway

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET iPHOTO BOOK?

I would like to order my first HARD COVER book and since I am not living in USA, my friend would bring the book back to Europe.
But the only problem is that, she will be there only two days, so the book must be at the address, she will be living on 9th of February.
When do I need to place the order? How long does it take to get the album?
    Thank you for your help.

Can't say - no idea where it is going to or what will be going on them
If it were me I'd say that the extra cost was a cheap insurance policy against external forces messing things up - but you make that decision
Waiting three days to order and shipping ground rather than express will increase the chances of it not making it - probably still 95% + (guessing of course) that it will but every day you wait makes the chances less and not using the fastest shipping also increases the chances of failure
If money is the issue then ordering today rather than Wed would be a good idea to me
    Good Luck
