how long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

It's totally dependent on your broadband speed.
It took me about 45 minutes to download, but I have a reasonably fast connection.
It will often say in the purchased pane of the Mac App Store how much longer it will take.

On average how long does mountain lion take to download from the app store?

Always keep an eye on 'More like this', the column to the right of your initial post.    You will often find answers and direct leads to your questions there.
In fact it relates to your ISP and the download speeds you have.   I believe it is 4GB in size.

How long does Mountion lion take to be on your computer

It's a 4 GB download that could take more than a couple of hours depending on your ISP's speed, connection quality, and server loads.
After downloading it takes about 25 minutes for a clean install; up to an hour or so to upgrade an existing system.

  • Why does Mountain Lion take a long time to shut down my MacBook Air when I chose "Shut Down?"  Much longer than before the upgrade.

Mountain Lion takes a long time to shut down.  Much longer then Lion.
    Any comments appreciated.

  • Does Mountain Lion Server sync Notes and Reminders?

I'm thinking of upgrading a server and wanted to know if Mountain Lion would sync Notes and Reminders like iCloud does in Mountain Lion? I'd like to stay out of the "Cloud" as much as possible... "Cloud" just means "someone else's servers" and since we have our own, why in the world would we use someone else's when we can use our own.... if we can (and then there's the entire issue of privacy, but I digress).
    Thanks,
    -Werner

Open the notes application on your phone.  On the top left of the screen select "Accounts." Your notes have probably been saved to the folder "on my iphone." In order for them to sync with your other devices you need to copy your notes from the folder "on my iphone" to "icloud"
    Hope this helps!

  • Does Mountain Lion really decrease batter life on a Macbook Pro that much?

I have an early 2011 15 inch. I want to use Apple TV to project my desktop.

Mountain Lion doesn't decrease the battery life in any noticable way when doing basic computing sort of things. Air Play to the Apple TV does tend to use up the battery a bit faster, so it's probably a good idea to plug it in if you intend to stream for a long period of time. Otherwise, don't worry about it too much.

  • After I Order OS X mountain lion from the online store, where does it go?

I ordered OS X mountain lion to install via MLPostFactor(I Ordered it on the online store) where does it go?

You should have received two e-mails about the purchase, one with an attached PDF that contains a redemption code to use in the App Store, and the other with the password needed to unlock the PDF and get the redemption code. Once you have the code, you can launch the App Store, and look under Quick Links for "Redeem". After entering your code, you should be able to download ML. After the download is finished, the installer will launch. At this point, it is a good idea to QUIT the installer, and copy it to a safe location outside of your Applications folder. The installer application unhelpfully deletes itself after it finishes installing the OS, and having a backup of it is easier than doing another 5+ GB download.

  • I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and iPhoto does not open but if it does it crashes.

I clicked on the App store.
    Clicked on featured Apps.
    Clicked on iPhoto "11"
I seen EVERY ONE is having the SAME problem I had AFTER the down loaded up date.

    Greetings,
Yes I did.I updated Aperture & iPhoto in the update that came after Mountain Lion.
    iPhoto v 9.4
    Aperture v 3.4
These 2 updates I downloaded yesterday.
When I open Aperture a little window appears, it says "opening Iphoto library" this went on for a while,iPhoto library did not open after I clicked to open Aperture.

  • How does Mountain Lion Authentication work?

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard and am trying to understand how moving/saving files works now. If I want to move a file from an external disk by drag and drop I now need to authenticate with a password. If I want to move a file to the trash or change a file name I have to enter a password. Can someone explain this and is there a Knowledge based note on this? Is there a way to disable the requirement for a password? I went to the Finder help and it was no help.
Any tips on this would be appreciated.

I did check this. Read & Write for my account and Read Only for Fetching and Everyone. AppleCare says this new Authentication is a security feature of Mountain Lion (I guess probably in Lion also). From what I have tried if you try to move/write any files to the hard disk, change file names in the finder, move files to the trash, etc. the password has to be entered. I appreciate Apple providing the uer with better security, but if I want to trash a file or change its name I don't want to have to enter the password. This is overkill. I was asking what are all the rules for how it behaves and can it be disabled?

Open the Mac App Store, click Purchases, select ML, then re-download and install. However if your machine has the abillity to run Mavericks I'd just upgrade to that and bypass ML.

Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:
    http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/10/os-x-mountain-lion-10-8-1-beta-released-for-dev-t esting-may-include-wi-fi-fix/
Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery.

  • I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion and found out it was not compatible with my HP printer (HP photosmart C5580) so I called Apple and asked how to get Mountain Lion off and Snow Leopard back on.  The Tech told me to

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • Why does the Finder in Mountain Lion take over 50% of my RAM?

On a supported MacBook Air, Mountain Lion takes up over 50% of the available RAM accounding to every app and even the activity monitor. I only have enough RAM to open one app at a time. Open another and I've run out of memory and the entire Mac freezes up.
!0.6 and 10.7 didn't have this problem, only Mountain Lion does. Anyone else see this problem or have a solution?
    Thanks

    Kappy,
No, that made things worse. Now the MacBook Air is frozen completely in Safe Mode. I had to hold down the power button until I shut down hard. Bringing it back up in normal mode, now there's under 200M of RAM left, a fraction of what was available. I can't even open Safari, it keeps running out of memory.
Never had this problem with Snow Leopard and Lion. I opened the App Store where both versions of the operating system are and tried to load each. Neither one would load to let me downgrade. I paid for them, how come I can't use them?!
Apple's gone to **** since Steve Jobs passed away. I've been a Loyal Apple user for 8 years now and ever since Jobs' passed away, nothing is working right with the latest upgrades. I'm ready to install Ubuntu on every Mac in the house.
