I connected this for the first time to a pc and registerd it and everything-- then my bro put it on his mac - then now i put it back on my pc-- how long will it take to restore so i can finally put songs on it???????????

Windows PCs cannot directly read a Mac formatted HD (or iPod).
Macs can read and write to a Windows formatted HD if it is in FAT32. Macs with OS X10.3 and higher will read a Windows NTFS formatted HD, but no Macs can write to an NTFS HD. iPods only function when formatted in FAT32. iPods cannot function as a MP3 player if formatted in NTFS.

This is how you Reset - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. how long does this download take?

I paid for my download and they took my money...now after 6 hours..no
complete. stopped. I cannot find any way to get someone to either refund
the money or help me download it again.

Wow.......You plug the 30 pin connector to the botton of your iPad and the USB to the USB port on your computer.
But first, you can download the movie and books to your iTunes account without having your iPad connected. After you've downloaded the material, then you connect your iPad and sync it all over.
I'm sorry I have to sign off. I have to be up like 6 hours. I'll check in tomorrow and see if you made any progress.
If nothing else, this will get your iPad and your iTunes account speaking again. They should be regularly connected and your iPad routinely backed up.
One more thing. If it's been a while since you even opened iTunes on your PC, make sure you check for iTunes downloads and update iTunes with the latest version.

Is this resolved yet? What operating system are you using? The progress bar when installing uses the first half for the download, and second half for the installation, so if it gets half way and appears to go no further, there is a problem with the install. Best practice in this situation is to restart your computer, and run the Desktop Application Manager as Administrator. (Right click from Windows. I don't know about OSX) That usually leads to a successful install.
Note that if you have tried to install and it has all gone pear shaped further into the installation process, you probably need to use the Cleaner tool

The whole process is usually less than 5 mins or so. Sounds like yours is locked up. Be sure you are logged in as the administrator and have anti-virus disabled.
