They did say 12-14 hours, but as is always the case with such estimates, they invariably quote the 'best possible scenario' and almost never mirror 'real world' conditions.
If, from a fully charged position, you simply switch on your nano, and set it to continuously play through a long set of songs, with EQ off, backlight off, modest volume (50%) don't touch it during playback, then you might just get somewhere near this figure - and if you don't then it's either not been conditioned properly or it's faulty.
If you use it like me, daily for a couple of hours, with 2 secs backlight and switch songs regularly, using fairly high volumes then 6-8 hours is more likely. It'll even drain when it's not in use, even in sleep mode, albeit very slowly. They also tend to drain more quickly before they've been through their first few charge cycles (the conditioning period).
Personally I haven't got a problem with this though I can understand why some people have. It's not very impressive in this respect. Apple should be able to come up with something much better - maybe they should talk to Sony

what is the best 500GB HDD for a 2007 macbook pro. This is a pre unibody machine.
I am upgrading at the minute and can't make my mind up. I need a 7200rpm drive, but have heard some stories concerning overheating etc.
These are the drives I am looking at: Seagate Momentus, Hitachi Travelstar and Western Digital all 500GB, running at 7200rpm.

If you were running 10.7 or later, and had a normal install, there are two ways to get there
Command-R at Startup is the usual method.
Option key at Startup draws a gray screen and puts up an Icon for each Bootable Volume. Among them should be Recovery_HD. Choose that and proceed.
The Recovery_HD partition is treated as a special case, and is NOT shown by default in Disk Utility. There are parameters you can change to get Disk Utility to show all partitions.

What is the best protective case for 2011 13" Macbook Pro (that can withstand an active 4 year old :). My 4 year old plays with the teaching apps on my iPhone 4 in the otterbox case and its great - the bulkiness of the otterbox not an issue and I love being able to give the phone to him and feel completely comforatable. Just use it. One day, your machine will fail. It could be 10 years from now, it could be tomorrow. Even if you had AppleCare, you'd be out of warranty now. Just use your machine as you have for the past 4 years. My first MacBook Pro - a 2006 1,1 model - lasted me for over six years and is still going strong somewhere in Minnestota. Only thing I ever had to have replaced was the fans. May you be so lucky as well.

Several options.
1) Open KeyChain Access in the Applications/Utilities folder and find the entry and double click on it
The tick the Show Password Box
In the dialogue box that Appears put in the Mac User Password and click Allow Once.
2) If it is an AIM Name you can use the AIM Settings site to start a Login and then say you forgot the password
The process normally sends something to your recovery email address
3) Same as above but for Apple Issued IDs that are also AIM valid Screen Names (@mac.com and @me.com)
4) Create a new name.

How long has the lines issue been around?

Just curious. I just got my new powerbook and I am fairly upset at the presence of these lines. Is this something that apple has known about for months or is this a new issue all together? Basically, i just want to know how long everyone has been waiting for an announcment on this issue.

Did you restore the iPod using this iTunes library/computer?
Make sure that yo have the right boxes checked to sync the media

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync

Ok guys I'm about to upgrade my internal drive on my MacBook Pro and would like to know what is the maximum space to put in. I'm also gong to replace optibay a 128GB SSD. Is any 1TB 2.5" good?

I suggest that you install the SSD in the same place as your current HDD. Install the 1 TB drive in the DVD drive location.
I have HGST 1 TB drives, both 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm. Both work satisfactorily.

I just install windows 7 in my new macbook pro retina display and i cant even use my wireless...

System requirements mention no computer models. Apparently all Intal Macs are compatible.

If this is a business phone and connected, for example, to an Exchange server then the security profile on your device can be changed to eliminate certain options considered insecure like setting Auto-Lock to "Never". Check on this.
