How long is MSI 6950 Twin Frozr II

Anyone know the actual length of MSI 6950 Twin Frozr II card (including the heatsink/cooler)?
MSI site says 275mm long.
http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R6950-Twin-Frozr-II.html#/?div=Specification
But the card (without the cooler) is only 241mm. Check this image (source):
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j37/clon22/R6950_TF2_2G/R6950_TF2_2G_user.jpg
And from a top view image it doesn't look like the cooler fins go out 34mm (275-241).  Image (source):
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/HD_6950_Twin_Frozr_II/images/card2.jpg
EDIT: I'm trying to fit into antec solo case, which only have 270mm of space. Hopefully this can go in without a mod or atleast not a major one like cutting pieces out of hdd cage.

any luck on fitting it?

  • MSI 6950 Twin FROZR II OC Problems...

I just installed my card and installed new drivers. When I view the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) it shows my GPU clock at 250mhz and Memory clock at 150mhz. What's the deal here? I've uninstalled ALL drivers, went through the registry and uninstalled the card via properties. I then re-installed everything fresh and still see this. Is my card DOA? I see the desktop in my 1920 x 1080 resolution just fine. So not sure why the numbers would say that. From what I know of the card it should say 810mhz and 1250mhz. Changing CCC settings in the overdrive to the default does nothing.

Ok then that's odd. It used to show for my last card the 5750 the default core clock and memory all the time. This card apparently it's only under load because now it says 810 and 1250. I ran CPUID which shows the GPU info too and it only showed the graphic cards name and RAM but no info for the clocks. Which is suspicious (as my last card it showed all of the info). Anyway, I'm running Bad Company 2 on full settings (everything on and on max) and I'm pulling 60fps almost steady (between 50 and 60). So I guess I'm good. :\ <--- I say that because it's not giving me the warm and fuzzy I would have hoped for.

  • 6950 Twin Frozr III/PE, Low FPS, Low GPU usage

I could use some help, I've tried everything I can think of and no luck so far so maybe someone here can help. I spent all weekend trying to fix it with no luck.
I am having issues with my MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III/Power Edition cards. When playing a games my GPU usage never seems to get above 50%. I've tried each card individually and in crossfire but it never seems to make a difference. My frame rates fluctuate between 70 and 20 FPS while the GPU load fluctuates between 30-50%. Crossfire or not the frame rates and GPU usage stays about the same, never using more than 60% of the GPU. I only recently began seeing issues but I don't remember exactly when it started.
    Hardware tried:
MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III/Power Edition (not flashed to 6970)
    AMD Phenom II x6 1090T @4.0GHz
    MSI 890FXA-GD70
    16GB Mushkin DDR3 1600
    Mushkin SATA III SSD
    NZXT HALE90 850W PSU
    14x FN 120RB 120mm fans
Aquacomputer Airplex Radiator with built in D5 Pump
    i7-2600K @4.6GHz
    ASUS P8P67 Pro
    16GB Corsair DDR3 1600
    OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
    SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W
    Corsair H60
Things I've tried (tried with both cards individually and in crossfire with no change, and in both systems, and various combinations)
    -Current Drivers 12.10
    -Rolling drivers back to 11.11
    -Beta 12.11 Drivers
-Set constant voltage in Afterburner (heard that was causing conflict problems between Afterburner and CCC)
-Tried switching the cards between my 1090T @4.0GHz and my i7-2600K @4.6GHz and no change (both CPUs stay at around 60-70% so I dont think thats the bottleneck)
    -Set power tune to +20%
-Tried clean install of windows 7 and no change
-Checked both PSUs with tester and both check out fine (not sure if the load is too much for them though)
Games that I've tried (with issues):
    -Borderlands 2
    -Hawken
    -Dishonord
    -Skyrim
    -Dirt 3
    -Saints Row 3
-Need for Speed: Most Wanted (always been bad but doesn't seem to be made any worse like the others)
I'm getting very discouraged and really hoping my graphics cards aren't going bad (they are only a year old). Any help is greatly appreciated.

can you test either of the card in another PC?
have you tried to turn off the vsync?

...then go into the AMD Vision Engine Control Centre along the left hand side, look for "My Digital Flat-Panels" click this and in the new options find "Scaling Options (Digital Flat-Panel)", move the slider right till it says 0% and this should fix the issue. Good luck!

  • MSI GTX580 Twin Frozr 2, how to identify it?

    Hi,
I need to verify if the graphic card that is in my computer is really MSI GTX580 Twin Frozr 2, and not GTX560 or GTX570 (to check if i wasn't cheated...). I cannot identify it from the others twin frozr 2 cards since it has same cooling system and no distinct markings anywhere on the card, or at least i dont know about them. Computer still isn't functional, but will be later on today. I didnt receive card in package, but already installed in miditower case.
So plz i need fast answer, if there is any visual identification i can do, or software that i can use later today to see what graphic card it is.

    tell S/N of your card
or just run VGA software like Afterburber:

  • MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II/OC annoyng artefacts

Hello. I've got a strange issue with my radeon 6870. Every time i play a game a small white flashes appears in random area of a screen. From 2-4 mm (Crysis, Bulletstorm and Fallout 3) to ~ 1-1,5 cm (Napoleon: Total War).I cant post a screenshot because it happens really fast  (just like someone hiding in a trees with a camera). In Crysis 2 and Bad Company 2  instead a small dots a large transparent nearly visible spots  appears from time to time.
    My spec
    AMD Phenom II X4 945  // Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H rev 2.1  // MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II/OC (factory overclocked to 920MHz core)  // 2x2 Gb DDR3 1333 Samsung  // 500Gb SATA-III Western Digital WD5002AALX // 1 Tb SATA-II Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 // Thermaltake Toughpower 600 W // Pioneer optical drive // Coller Master CM690 II Advanced. Windows 7 Ulimate x64
All components are running at their stock speeds. Max GPU temperature i've ever seen ~78 celsius
I've tried overclock and downclock my VGA, fresh Windows install, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4 EP with no effect.
Maybe someone have got any ideas how to deal with that?
    Thanks in advance.
ps. All driver seetings are on their default values I' not native speaker so... many pardons for my english

  • MSI - R6870 - Twin Frozr II - Is this too hot?

I think there is something wrong with this card of mine. I noticed that the idle temps were high. Way too high. I opened the case, latest ati 11.11 drivers, outdoor temperature of 20 degrees C, this card is idling around 62 degrees C. As demonstrated here:
If I force the fan to 80% it will drop down to about 55 degrees.
Is this card faulty? Seems unusually hot for something that's meant to be extra cool.

I use MSI AfterBurner program. You can preset the Fan.  I place mine on AUTO , other option is set to 50 percent fan speed which will also keep it within a good Temp. or User Control and Scale your temp settings.
. At 100 percent Load running for 30 minutes to 1 hour have yet seen my HD 6870 Twin Frozr II (OC) version hit 70c.  Usually at 60 -65c.  But if you ever get near 90c or above ... then problems are arising.
My pc system with the MSI cards don't like the AMD Catalyst Drivers or even those from MSI.  I have to play around finding which DRIVER from which Catalyst 10.XX or 11.XX performs the Best.
All I know is that AMD/ATI has left the HD68xx series in the dust as Has Been graphic cards and leave the customer the worries of finding a Driver that works.
I have CrossFire configuration but the DirectX 11 says my cards don't support DirectX 11.   Using one of the earlier Drivers, I will be able to use DirectX 11 but then I don't have CrossFire.
So go figure ....  1 Driver will work for one thing but not the other.  Beware that some will cause Artifacts or Green Screen or Screen Freezes (Locks Up) or even cause your Computer to Crash (get a error) and Dump.
AMD don't care about supporting the HD 68xx series.  Get a chance go with HD6950's or 6970's.   I'm tired of the ATI/AMD games. In May 2008 went with ATI HD 3870's and worked well until one fried in December 2010 for unknown reasons.
So I replaced them with HD6870's hoping for great Drivers. So disappointed now that it's been a year. My next PC rig going back to nVidia.!!!!  Sure nVidia cards get hotter (power hogs) but they're more reliable and lasted longer than the AMD/ATI cards.   No wonder nVidia is #1 --- 99 percent of the time. Well we do need AMD competition to keep nVidia prices down.
    my rig:
Thermaltake Armor Plus full tower, Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 mobo,  Intel e-8500 3.16GHz CPU, OCZ PC3-2000 (1600) 2x2GB memory, Zalman ZM850 850watt power supply, Zalman CPS-9500 CPU cooler, and MSI HD6870 Twin Frozr II (OC) in Crossfire ... replaced the old Sapphire Toxic HD3870's. Use Dual Boot OS's Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Windows 7 64 bit.

  • MSI 560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC Freezing up in BF3

    Hello,
I installed this card yesterday and yesterday i had no problems with it, but today, when playing BF3, about 5 minutes into the game it freezes up completely. The screen just freezes up like a screenshot, and my whole PC won't respond anymore. When playing MW3 everything is fine. No freeze-ups at all and the game is running great. Im using the 280.26 Drivers from the MSI-site. Everything else in my system is up to date. It's really annoying because I bought this card for BF3 and it runs this game great, but now I'm only allowed to play for 5 minutes before freezing..
    I'm using the following setup:
    Motherboard: P5E
    CPU: Core2Quad 9550 @ 2.83 Ghz
    RAM: 4 GB Corsair Dominator
    Soundcard: Soundblaster X-Fi Fatality
Graphics card: MSI 560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC
    SSD: OCZ Vertex II
    SATA 1: Western Digital 500GB
    SATA 2: Seagate 320GB
    750 Watt Corsair Enthousiast PSU

go for latest nvidia drivers then, what's the problem?
Svet is right. I had the same problem with BF3 with my 6950. Downloaded the drivers from AMD and now its fine.
Also the new nvidea are especial written for BF3

  • 6950 Twin Frozr II OC 3 monitors

I have the 6950 Twin Frozr II OC video card on a pc build running WIN7 Pro that i was able to get 2 Samsung 3550 monitors running.  I have the 2 Samsung 3550 monitors connected to the 2 DVI ports (1 port is DVI Dual and 1 is DVI single  from what I've gathered reading from this forum). It is working great with that setup.
It dawned on me why not try to add the Samsung Sync Master from my last PC build to have 3 Monitors connected?
Now with the 3rd monitor (Samsung SnycMaster) I tried using a convertor adapter (DVI to Mini Display port) from Radio Shack ($39) that has additional ports besides the DVI a HDMI, and Display Port to convert to Mini Display Port. Which I think is overkill for 1 adapter because you can only 1 device.  After cold rebooting it sees all three monitors during boot up. After Login however the SyncMaster goes blank. In the Catalyst console it sees all three but is says 1 monitor must be disabled. In the Windows display properties it is grayed out in the resolution settings, and won't save any other changes. If I disable 1 of the other 2 monitors, It will let me modify settings for the SyncMaster monitor. But it is still only 2 monitors.
I went and purchased 2 Apple converter adapters (DVI to Mini Display Port $19/each) ). I am guessing that this is the next step to try. Bypassing 1 of the DVI ports of the video card.
So I would have 1 DVI to the Monitor and 2 Mini Display Ports to the other 2 monitors.
Is this how it should be setup for 3 monitors?
Which DVI Port on the video card should I use?
The DVI Dual or the DVI Single?

you can only use 3 if your running them as an Eyefinity display groop as one huge screen! if you want 1 with your OS and 2 extended'd screens you have to have 2 graphics cards!

  • MSI HD7950(twin frozr) 100% fan speed .. anymore solutions

    Hi guys
i purchased a  msi HD7950 twin frozr from ebay however it runs at 100% all of the time and no software can tame it ... ive also followed the guide and removed the faulty D201 diode which also never worked as the card still runs at 100% ( speedfan reports 4000rpm )
so apart from the faulty diode and using software is there anything else i can do ....   ?
i was considering strapping 2 x 120mm fans to the card powered directly from the psu and a 3rd party gpu cooler ( such as the arctic cooling range ) also came to mind allthough these tend to be expensive
i also considered a fan limiter i got with a previous 3rd party gpu cooler .... if i reduced the fan speed power from 12v to 7v would this make any difference ?
                     many thanks

Well at what temp does the gpu/ram/vrms run at? Check with Afterburner: >>How to use MSI Afterburner<<

i noticed that the heatsink easily twisted side to side VERY EASILY as i installed my r9650.
that made me wonder what holds it to the board..and if there is anything did it get tightened, and how tight, and what did they put under it.. ??
i use this.. supposed to be 4x better than silver.
    http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/ic-diamond-7-carat-thermal-compound-15-gram-p-16605.html
fixing it would probably void the warranty but it would at least run..mine freezes up on BC2.  i had a 512Mb nividia 8800 that ran BC2 just fine, the graphics weren't as good but it did run the game very well.
i always end up replacing the thermal paste. i repair computers, first thing i do on platforms is replace the hard plastic chewing gum on the heatsinks, that is often all it takes to get them running again. why would anyone put 2 cent paste on a $300 item.. turning it into a 2 cent item.. ??  ever hear about the weakest link story?
