How long of a delay?

So I posted a new issue of my podcast (my seventh issue) to my rss feed about 6 hours ago. How long normally does it take for a new issue to show up in iTunes?
Does my feed look OK? Have I messed it up?
At one time I was trying to relocate my feed, and I am wondering if my code is good.
Any help for this novice is greatly appreciated.

Your feed, which is at http://prophotobusinessforum.com/category/podcast/feed/ , is fine. It normally takes 1-2 days (very occasionally longer) for new episodes to appear in the Store, though they appear immediately for subscribers (because the iTunes application reads the feed directly). Your new episode should appear in a day or so.

Why do Orange and EE blame Apple for the delays in unlocking my iPhone. 10 months now. What is the exact process that these companies have to go through to unlock an iPhone and is Apple in any way to blame for the delays.
Indeed how long does Apple take to carry out its part of the process.
It seems to me that Orange are just trying to stall me despite the fact that I am out of contract with them now.  I originally paid to have the phone unlocked back last November.  This was never done.
I have phoned them numerous times over the last two months but still they haven't done it.  Can anyone advise me and has anyone had similar problems with them.
    Thanks

I certainly understand that only Orange can unlock my phone.  My annoyance is that they blame Apple so I am keen to know what exactly is Apple's involvement.
I presume that Orange have to tell Apple that the phone has been authorised for unlocking by Orange and that Apple then notes that in some way on iTunes so that the user can then complete the process on iTunes.
What I would like to know is how much time Apples part in this process takes.
I would also like to make contact with others who have had similar problems.
    Many thanks

  • HT5071 After submission, how long does it take for a new book to appear in the iBook store?

How long does it take for a new book to appear in the iBook store after you have submitted it successfully? I submitted a free book last night. No sign of it 6 hours later ... If the delay is because process are being followed, what ate they? Any ideas?

    5-10 days in November.

  • HT4009 How long does it take for apple to return with the needed code for in app purchases.  We have a developer working through elance that states he submitted a finalized version last friday to apple and is still waiting to get the code back from Apple?

We are being told by our elance developer that he is just waiting on apple to return the code for in app purchases with our app.  he says he had to submit a complete version before they would give it to him and that he did that last friday.  Needless to say i don;t beleive him.  Can anyone validate for me the process of getting the code installed into our app and how long it should really take.

I'd say an average of one week, depending on backlog. Expect two if you are outside the US.
The outage has caused some lingering effects that seem to be delaying things for some, however.
Patience is key in all things when it comes to being a developer

  • How long is the wait for uptodate program?

I bought a macbook pro on 23rd July which is after Lion release, and it still shipped with Snow Leopard. Applied to the "uptodate" program on 24th, and it is now 1st of august! Nine days and waiting, and no response at all. What am I suppose to do?

I'm just wondering if there's a way to find out how long a wait to expect between each new episode of a show you've bought a season pass to?
Sorry but no, there isn't. The iTunes Store normally posts episodes as soon as they get the episodes from the producers (barring a technical problem with the video that would require the iTunes Store to request a new copy).
Since the show is screened weekly in my country, I can't see the reason for the 2 week+ wait. Any ideas?
Probably delays or problems at the production house.
If not, I can't seem to find a questions/complaints email address for iTunes Australia, can you point me in the right direction?
    http://www.apple.com/au/support/itunes/contact.html
Though there's probably nothing they can tell you, but it won't hurt to contact them as ask what's going on.

  • UK Delivery - How long was it for you guys?

really didn't know where to put this topic, so sorry if it's in the wrong place.
Basically just curious to know how long delivery normally is, I ordered a quad G5 yesterday or so, order status says it should be shipped by Jan 12th, but while completing the order it said delivery should take 5-7 days, 10 days at most etc.. but i am finding it hard to believe in this day and age and from such a company like Apple that Next Day delivery wasn't an option.
Am i really going to have to wait a week for delivery?? bad enough having to wait a week for the building etc...? what length of time have you guys experienced from shipping to delivery?? i want my G5 now! :o
    NB- refers to UK orders

Just as reference for those awaiting delivery, i'll just run through the various stages i experienced. Ordered 5th January, Powermac G5, Cinema Display and Ipod Nano with other various accessories.
Estimated Shipping Date was 12th Jan.
Actual Shipping Date was 9th Jan.
The G5 was shipped via Kuhne & Nagel Spedition s.a r., the package was picked up from Cork, Ireland at 18:15. The remaining items were picked up by Flextronics c/o Express Cargo , i am unsure where it came from originally, but i assume it was these items that caused the slight delay. As all items need to accumulate in one place before being handed over to UPS or TNT.
I called Apple yesterday (12th Jan) they had no extra information than that on the Tracking page, and said delivery was estimated for 17th Jan, but he said could come sooner, which it did, it arrived today (13th Jan).
Early this morning, the Tracking page changed. All the items, except the PC, were under the Carrier name of FLEX POST & HUB UK.. this changed to APPLE EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA, and new tracking numbers had been applied to ALL the items. After some googling i discovered the new numbers belonged to UPS.. a quick visit to their website turned up some results. They had revieved the packages yesterday, and had been sent out for delivery this morning...
Packages recieved at 12:05 13th January. So for me build time was 3-4 days, and shipping was 3-4 days. All under the estimates. I think the ipod and the extras that resulted in the 1-2 delay, from what i've read apart from John Keith's experience, is that shipping usually takes no more than 3days after you get the shipping confirmation.
All in all very happy, Apple's tracking page should display more and update more, a fair majority of the info i recieved was due to a lot of googling and trial and error. I've yet to open the pc and monitor so can't comment on the state, read some horror stories so am waiting with trepidation mixed with huge excitement!!!
hope this is of some help

  • How long takes extra space bought to appear in your iCloud account?

Just bought extra 10gb of storage @£14 but can't see it available yet , how long does it take to be available?

It should happen automatically but sometimes there's a delay in the purchase going through.  Also, there's probably so many people doing the same thing right now that the servers are behind in processing it.

  • How long to download mountain lion

I'm trying to download the Mountain Lion app on my iMac.  The download "bar" has almost stopped moving.  How long does the download typically take?

Impossible question to answer because everyone's situations is different. The issue is how fast is your download speeds. If you live in an area where you have slow download speeds and/or are working during a high traffic time this will delay download times. The best time to do a download is right before going to bed, let the computer run all night if necessary. If that isn't feasible take the machine to your local Apple Store, they usually have fast Internet connections.

  • How long does Reuse recycle take

I posted my iphone to the Reuse Recycle service almost 4 weeks ago and have had to email them for updates, does anyone know how long this service takes before we get our money? I must say its a service I wouldn't use again because of the delay.

IIRC, that's a third-party service.  If you recycle at an Apple store, you almost always get your store credit immediately.

  • Simple question: How long does my presentation last?

Where do I find the length of a presentation? I've got slides and have everything timed to a duration. Doesn't Keynote someplace tell me how long the overall presentation will last? Thanks.

Keynote does not tell you an overall run-time unless you actually run the presentation and watch the counter in the Presenter Display.
CAVEAT: The actual duration of the presentation depends on the processor speed of the computer doing the playback. Specifically, all Builds, Transitions, and Delay durations will vary with the playback. In Keynote, not all seconds are created (or recreated) equally.
    Good luck.

  • How long did your first wireless back up take??

After doing the initial back up via ethernet, how long did your first wireless back up take?? I can't seem to get past the preparing stage. However I have recently learned that the first time backing up wirelessly, the finder indexes the back up & this can take a while. I'm leaving it a little longer now. It has been preparing for about half an hour now.
    Is this normal?
How long does this indexing take?
    What are your experiences?
    Thanks.

So far for me it's been five days. I hooked up Time Capsule Thursday night, and after monitoring the progress for a few hours, I calculated that it should take three days, which I figured would mean that it should finish up by Sunday evening. (My MacBookPro had 103 gigs on it.)
It would have been nice if the instructions that came with the **** thing said something up front about hooking up via an ethernet cable for the initial backup. If I had seen those instructions before I started this nightmare, I might be done by now. Instead I started the backup wirelessly, which I'm sure accounts for some of the delay and hassle.
Unfortunately, the backup pace slowed steadily over the course of the weekend. By Saturday night, it had only done about 60 gigabyites, and by Sunday afternoon, it was only up to around 65. At that pace I figured I might be waiting another week before it finished, and since I actually take my computer with me when I leave my house, this would have deprived me of my computer for an unacceptable period. After doing some internet research and learning that using an ethernet cable would speed up the process, I therefore stopped the wireless backup, hooked up a cable, and restarted it at around 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
The backup then proceeded steadily at a faster (although not exactly zippy) pace. By midnight it had gotten through about 60 gigabytes, and after timing the rate at which it was proceeding by that time, I estimated that it should finish sometime around 8 p.m. tonight (Monday).
I left the computer along during the day while I ran errands away from home. When I got back around 6:30, it appeared to have finished the initial backup and to be in the process of finishing up an incremental backup. The progress bar said "backing up 12,443 items...51.3 MB of 51.3 MB." Unfortunately, it seems to be stuck there. It's now 8 p.m., and it still says it's working on those 51.3 MB. I don't know how much longer I should wait before deciding that it's frozen.
I'd like to just set this thing on fire. I bought the Time Capsule because I liked the idea of wireless, automatic backups. It was supposed to make my life easier, not make it a living ****.

  • How long does a HANA instance startup take?

In a previous thread Lars Breddemann wrote:
Data stored in row-store tables will be loaded into the main memory immediately on instance startup.
Data stored in column-store tables will be loaded upon first access, except when it has been specified that the table should also be loaded during startup.
Even if the persistent storage is located on SSDs, doesn't that take a really long time to start a large HANA database?
Is there already some rule of thumb about how long it takes in real life to start a large HANA database?
Or can you simply say that HANA doesn't impose a bottleneck (or other significant delays) but startup primarily depends on reading the data from persistent storage and thats it.
In my imagination, many HANA customers would want to load almost eveything from column storage during instance startup. So imagine a 1 TB HANA database reading 1 TB from SSDs and also creating indexes for column storage during instance startup. What is the order of magnitude for instance startup: Seconds, minutes or hours?
    Regards,
    Mark

    Hello Mark,
here's some more background: Tables are either in row or in column store. Row store tables are loaded into memory during startup. Column store tables are set as a default to be loaded on demand i.e. the system loads columns when necessary. You can change the preload behaviour for column tables using ALTER TABLE (see http://service.sap.com/hana > SQL Reference).
Since most data will be stored in column tables, actual startup time is indeed pretty quick. If you want to avoid a performance hit on first data selections, you could create a simple SQL script that executed a LOAD statement your most critical tables and run it once after start up and when it fits best to your requirements.

  • How long to send a imac

I've been reading that there has been a delay on the new imac so I was wondering how long the wait is now for them to ship sense it's now febuary.. I know it says 3-4 weeks but has any come sooner then they?

    The new iMac delivery saga:
Apple's online store was updated on recently to reflect shipping times of between three and four weeks for new orders of its redesigned 27-inch iMacs. Previously, orders were advertised to ship "in January" — a change that was made last month to let customers know their orders would not ship before Christmas.
With three-and-a-half weeks left in the month of January, the change in estimated shipping times may not represent an outright delay, but the continued wait is yet another sign that Apple is unable to produce enough iMac units to meet customer demand.
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook signaled in October that his company would face a "significant shortage" of iMacs in the December quarter. And analyst Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities said in August that the new screen lamination process used in building the new iMacs is particularly difficult with the larger 27-inch model.
Early January, Apple began offering its new hybrid Fusion Drive on entry-level 21.5-inch iMac orders. Previously, that option was limited to the 27-inch model and high-end versions of the 21.5-inch model.
    Updated Jan 10:
Apple is still facing manufacturing issues with its new big-screen 27-inch iMac, though a report claims the issue could start to improve in February.
Citing industry sources, hit-or-miss DigiTimes reported on Thursday that mass production issues can be pinned on iMac panel supplier LG Display. The problem apparently stems from full lamination issues in producing the panels.
Apple and LG are only able to produce about 100,000 units a month, according to the report. The issues do not apparently apply to the 21.5-inch iMac, which has reached monthly shipments of between 300,000 and 400,000.
AppleInsider previously noted January 14 that Apple's iMacs remain in short supply more than a month after the new all-in-one desktop launched. In fact, Apple's reseller channel remains completely out of stock of the 21.5-inch model.
    Update February 5:
Estimated shipping times for Apple's thinner iMac continue to slip, as the 27-inch model is now advertised to arrive in Europe in 4 to 6 weeks, while the 21.5-inch model has been delayed to between 3 and 4 weeks.
The delays apply to both iMac models, as the 21.5-inch variety was previously advertised to ship in 2 to 3 weeks, while the 27-inch model was available in 3 to 4 weeks. News of the delays surfacing in France were first reported on Monday by MacGeneration.
The delays do not yet affect Apple's U.S. online store, though if recent trends are any indication, the new estimated shipping times will be reflected in the company's American store in due time.
Shipping times for the smaller 21.5-inch model also began slipping late last month to between 2 and 3 weeks. The updates to Apple's European online stores on Monday suggest that the company continues to see production problems with its redesigned iMac.
Those problems have persisted since the new iMacs first went on sale in December. In the holiday quarter, Apple's Mac sales dropped 17 percent, a decrease the company attributed to severe constraints on the new, thinner iMacs.
Continued setbacks for the iMac also cast into doubt a recent rumor that claimed Apple's suppliers had solved their production problems. However, some 21.5- and 27-inch iMac units did begin trickling into Apple's reseller channels last week.

  • I refunded the buyer, but the buyer's refund it PENDING, how long does this take?

The title is my question. The seller paid for an item I sold him, but later decided he did not want that item and I refunded him but he has not got the refund yet. He has shown he it says "pending", how long do refunds take?  Also, these funds were all from PayPal balance.  Thanks for your time if you can provide an insight, it is very appreciated

If he sent a bank funded Instant Transfer payment, then two things happened simultaneously:
    - PayPal sent a request to their bank for the funds for the transaction. It would take 3-7 business days for funds to arrive from their bank.
    - PayPal paid you up front instantly, so that you would not delay in processing their order.
When refund or cancellation occurs for that payment within a few days of it being sent, the funds that PayPal paid up front are returned.
However, the funds from their bank account are still in transit. They haven't reached their PayPal account yet.
As soon as those funds clear, they are available for your buyer to use or withdraw.
