TS4062 How long should it take to set up my ipad using itunes?
How long should it take to set up my ipad using itunes? Everything went blank on my iPad and I am attempting set it up using itunes. It has been connected for 45 min and gives me a set up incomplete message if I attempt to exit.
I did some check on available sources on the topic and it seems that the app data is often causing a slow backup:
What causes the slow backup?
It’s the Apps! Apps on the iPad might store data to work properly. Some do store a lot, some don’t. For instance a game saves some highscore data (not very much), where a newspaper App or a rss reader might save updated data (can be very much). I believe lots of iPhone users, that experiencing slow backups, have problems with one or many Apps that are leaking in terms of saving tons of tiny files to the iPhone, especially when they have a lot of Apps and when they did backups cross devices (i.e. iPhone 2G to iPhone 3GS).
The article on this website http://apdevblog.com/slow-itunes-sync-backup/ should provide more information and hopefully a fix for your issue! -
How long does it take to set up iphone 6 from icloud restore
I am trying to set up my new iPhone 6 plus from the icloud back up I made on my old iPhone 5c. Its been several hours, everything appears to be on the phone but when I go to settings to try to update the ios, it states I cannot perform the update until the restore is finished.
How long should this process take and how can I tell if there is a problem or if it is just taking a very long time...in other words, how long is TOO long and indicates a problem?
I also cannot perform another back up until this is done so I am concerned about losing data.
thanks. That all depends on how large the backup is.

How long does it take to set up a new ipad from a backup?
Just bought an ipad mini and decided to mirror my full size ipad onto it so chose the set up option to restore from backup.
It seems to have some what it needs to do but it gets stuck on step 6 of 6, resoring data.
Its been doing this for hours now, Im sure it must have a problem.
ThanksThis is not a suggestion. Do not follow it, but I tell you what happened to me a couple of years ago.
Recovering data from Backup via cable an iTunes to feed a new iPhone with data saved from the old one I was in the same situation: no activity after a long time.
I disconnected the iPhone, reset it and started again. It worked.
You will find here a lot of more clever suggestion, I did it on the basis that a Backup could not be demaged by disconnection. -
How long should it take to set up maverick
Been "setting up" for three hours - beginning to worry.
Installing Mavericks on a broadband connection should take about 45 minutes to an hour. If you are using a DSL connection, you may not be able to download and install Mavericks as it's an 8GB file as noted here > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
The download may time out before it can finish.
Keep in mind, with Mavericks installed, at some point you may need to restore OS X or repair the startup disk. That requires a broadband connection as noted > OS X Recovery -
How long should it take to set up AppleTV to iTunes Match
It has been running for hours. I have about 6500 songs, 29 GB, probably not the fast internet connection speed. Is there anything I can do?
Never mind, I got it. Nothing that a reset won't fix!

How long should it take to upload pictures for iPhoto books
I have created a book for Christmas on iPhoto. The book is 100 pages. There are two steps to the process of sending in your order.
1. Assembly (which it assembled no problem, under 30 min)
2. Upload (it shows a bar and a blue line moves as it uploads)
I have been uploading for 2 days now and I am 1/4 of the way there. Now while I am waiting for it to upload I cannot do anything with my iPhoto pictures. Which is a problem since I take pictures for my school and I need to edit pictures by Tuesday.
It states under the "Uploading book to the store...." Note: Any interruption of the upload process will cancel your order.
I have enough memory that this should not be the problem. I have turned off every application, restarted my computer, checked for updates. Nothing helps. I have had to cancel this order 3 times now and restart the process as I needed to use iPhoto for school projects.
This should not take more than 2 days! What is going on? Any help would be wonderful. Thank you
Kara
OS X Yosemitie
Version 10.10.1
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 DuoTwo days is way too long for the upload, unless you are having a very slow Wi-Fi.
There may be a something interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store (Anti virus software, firewalls), or you have included unprintable items.
Is the PDF preview of your book correct? Make a review and check it carefully for missing items, see this help page:
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If the preview is alright, try to upload your book again in Safe Mode. That will disable non standard extensions, and prevent them from interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store:

I have sent my i phone through royal mail on 8th February 2013 but still it is not deliver to apple. I used the empty box sent by apple to me to sent my i phone to them. Can any one advice me how long it can take to get back my iphone from repair?
moynul82 wrote:

If Apple has not received your phone, obviously it can't even be evaluated for warranty purposes. Have you tried calling AppleCare to verify whether they have received the phone or not? -
I just got a new iMac. was following the onscreen instructions to do migration assistance and I guess it connected to my old iMac via wi fi. It never instructed me to connect via firewire. Now it seems to have stopped. what can I do that won't completely mess it up? how Long will it take to do over wi fi?
Your new iMac does not have a Firewire port so you ned this adapter:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapte r
to connect the two machines together and migrate simply follow the instructions in:

Yesterday we were forced to perform a non-authoritative sync of the SYSVOL folder as replication had stopped because one of the DCs had been disconnected from it's replication partner for more than 60 days (caused by a unexpected shutdown and we did not
pick up on the fact replication had stopped until now).
I performed the non-authoritative sync of the SYSVOL folder and now the folder is in state 2
ReplicatedFolderName ReplicationGroupName State
SYSVOL Share Domain System Volume 2
and has been for more than 12 hours. The DFS replication health report, reports "This member is waiting for initial replication for replicated folder SYSVOL Share".
How long should it take and is there anyway to force it so that replication can resume?I'm fairly sure it's not tombstoned. Here is the DCDIAG output:

During the past 4.23 hours there have been 95 connections to this Domain Controller from client machines whose IP addresses don't map to any of the existing sites in the enterprise. Those clients, therefore, have undefined
sites and may connect to any Domain Controller including those that are in far distant locations from the clients. A client's site is determined by the mapping of its subnet to one of the existing sites. To move the above clients to one of the sites, please
consider creating subnet object(s) covering the above IP addresses with mapping to one of the existing sites. The names and IP addresses of the clients in question have been logged on this computer in the following log file '%SystemRoot%\debug\netlogon.log'
and, potentially, in the log file '%SystemRoot%\debug\netlogon.bak' created if the former log becomes full. The log(s) may contain additional unrelated debugging information. To filter out the needed information, please search for lines which contain text
'NO_CLIENT_SITE:'. The first word after this string is the client name and the second word is the client IP address. The maximum size of the log(s) is controlled by the following registry DWORD value 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters\LogFileMaxSize';
the default is 20000000 bytes. The current maximum size is 20000000 bytes. To set a different maximum size, create the above registry value and set the desired maximum size in bytes.

How long would it take the Apple Store to fix this common problem?
I have the 2010-2011 macbook black screen of death, some days it crashes at least 4 times a day! screen just blacks out and i have to restart. other than that everything works fine
http://oleb.net/blog/2012/05/15-inch-mbp-mid-2010-crashing-to-black-screen/
now here it says apple will fix this for free, so i scheduled a genius appointment for Monday, this guy here says apple just replaced the entire logicboard, how long should it take?
also how can Apple verify that i have the same problem? (I'm pretty sure it is the same problem)
I saved one of the error logs in a text file, maybe that should help.

"How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"
Yesterday there was a question in the USALUG.org "How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"
This question was a good question, so I decide to make the ultimate test. I have a lot of computers standing here around, and remembered that on one of them was have already Archlinux installation. I was right, when I booted, the system check said me, that the system was 253 days not checked anymore. I got so excited that I forgot to check was it one of my 0.7.2 Gimmick or 0.8 Voodoo installations.

After reboot the system loads all new applications with out any problem. Later I replaced the intel-video driver "xf86-video-i810 1.7.4-6" with the driver xf86-video-intel 2.2.0-2. No problems at all.

definitely. By contrast, here's a regular upgrade on my debian box -- out of the blue it's having some problem with one of the packages, and it's turning into a regular recursive nightmare.

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
exim4-daemon-light: Depends: exim4-base (>= 4.69) but 4.68-2 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

It's so "delicate" and temperamental compared to the no-nonsense, straightforward approach of Arch. If one little thing is off, the entire system has a hissy-fit and won't do anything until you hunt the internet high and low searching for a solution, encountering all the debian hawks along the way who are ready to rip your head off at the first suggestion that debian isn't directly from god and could have a problem. Imo, Arch is the best linx distro hands down. Nothing else even comes close. -
How long can it take for BT to repair a BT line?
I am concerned that I am going for some sort of record!
I have been having problems with my telephone line, there is no dial-tone and the DSL is all over the place. After checking that it was not an equipment failure on my side I logged a fault on the 9th February. Literally within hours (I was impressed) I had not one but two BT vans outside to trace the fault. They very efficiently diagnosed the problem to be a connection fault with the wire that was replaced about a year ago (the grass has only just grown back in my front garden). That was it. A week later I still had the fault, the fault web site says the ticket was closed and so I called in to 151 and was told “an engineer would be with me by 5pm that day”, they were not. So the next day I called again and was told “an engineer would be with me by 5pm that day”; fearing a bad case of deja vu at this point I asked to speak with a supervisor who was very understanding. However, basically I was told that the line is waiting for contractors to dig up the wire again and would have to wait until “next month”. How long should this take?
I am at the point where I am waiting for some undefined point in time for someone to dig a hole so that someone else can come along and fix the wire. I have been a BT customer basically since I left home, quite some years ago, this line alone I have had ADSL on since early 2001. At this point I am considering dropping everything I have with BT and switching to another provider entirely. I try to do my bit for the environment and work from home when I can, currently I either hit the environment and drive into work or it cost me on my cell phone. The only reason I have not already as I know that they would end up providing the connection over the same wire – perhaps their customer service will be better… If there was virgin cable in my street I would have switched already!Hi AGeezer,
If the road has to be dug up then there needs to be permission granted from owner/council and of course the road must be closed etc so sometimes it can take a while to get all this arranged.
I'll be happy to keep you up to speed and let you know what's happening as the updates come through.
Could you drop me in an email please with your BT account and telephone number along with a link back to this thread.
Just send to the email address in my profile and mark FAO Craig please.
Thx
Craig

How Long Did it Take to Receive Your Replacement?
My shuffle is crapped out. I don't have phone support so I have to request service through the website. Apple says they will ship a new one to me...however, my question is:
How long will it take to receive it? Does anybody know how quickly things are shipped out?
I am going to be out of town starting Saturday and want to make sure I don't miss the delivery.
Any help? You might be able to track it here:

I am using an external WD hard drive for backing up my laptop. I have to do it manually, so I can't set Time Machine to just do it for me. How do I know when it is done backing up? How long should this take?
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
tmutil compare -E
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command will take at least a few minutes to run. Eventually some lines of output will appear below what you entered.
Each line that begins with a plus sign (“+”) represents a file that has been added to the source volume since the last snapshot was taken. These files have not been backed up yet.
Each line that begins with an exclamation point (“!”) represents a file that has changed on the source volume. These files have been backed up, but not in their present state.
Each line that begins with a minus sign (“-“) represents a file that has been removed from the source volume.
At the end of the output, you’ll get some lines like the following:
Added:
Removed:
Changed:
These lines show the total amount of data added, removed, or changed on the source(s) since the last snapshot.
