How long should clean up ta

I have a Zen Micro about 40% filled. Tried recovery mode and then clean up to try to fix stuck problem. It's been cooking for 30+ minutes. I guess it is just stuck there. Should I try to reboot instead.
Thanx...

It shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes, as written in the FAQ post.

  • How long should clean up take or format on zen mi

does anyone know how long does clean up or format take because i dont know if mine is taking ages
    or has frozen please help
    gill

I let my iPhone run out of battery. Plugged it in, but went right back to the white screen/black apple (startup screen I think). Let it die again. Hooked it back up to the iMac & let it power back up: it's on the startup screen still & the iMac and iTunes have no idea it's there. Disconnected it. Can't turn it off. Guess I'll visit Apple after work tomorrow.

  • Rebuilding library creative V how long should it ta

I just got? my creacti've V 2 days ago & after I took it off dock it says rebuilding library. It's been rebuilding for 8 hours. How long should it take or should I plug the usb back in. reset only takes me back to the rebuilding screen. PLEASE HELP

Ha...it should only take a few seconds. My brand new Zen V Plus is a victim to this hardware problem. It froze on me while initally loading songs. I had to reset using the tiny hole on the side. When I turned it back on....you guessed it..."rebuilding library". End of story. It hung there. I reset again and started to the "recovery menu". First tried "clean up",? scan disk said 00% completed but would not clear or allow menu to return.Reset again. This time I reformatted; a hassle since I had spent an hour loading songs. This Worked!? I got past the "rebuilding library" since there was no library left to rebuild.Started loading songs again. Got about /3 of the library reloaded and then froze in the middle of a transfer.....oh no.......Had to reset again. Tried "clean up" again, (same result). When I restarted, I got "rebuilding library" and the progress bar stopped about 3/4 of the way across and that was all she wrote. In desperation I thought I would try to reload the firmware, perhaps correcting some deeper flaw. I downloaded the new firmware, BUT THEN ran right into a problem that people on this forum have been gnashing their teeth at for over a year. My? new firmware refused to recognize the player even though it was plugged in. I have WMP on my PC...but I wasn't using it. (I use Media Monkey). So I have no idea why the software refuses to recognize the player, but it is a VERY widespread problem. I had the Zen V 4 GB player and am still using it's but I have never tried to reinstall the firmware. Good thing, it would probably be as dead as the new one. Of course I called Creative Tech Support, but the dude offered zero solutions and just told me my player is toast. Thanks a lot. Fortunately, it is new so the store will have to replace it. But this was a terrible experience and reading about so many others having these various problems, I may be shy of CL in the future. Too bad, I absolutely LOVE these players. When I get a replacement player, now I am worried about the software on my laptop from the Zen V 4GB and the leftover software from the aborti've 8GB. I am wondering if I should uninstall Everything before proceeding again. Ya know, it Really shouldn't be necessary.

  • How long should it take to get my old number back ...

I moved house 4 working days ago. New house is on same exchange as old, sa asked to keep my old number.
The order is apparently in two parts:
    1) Cease line at old address - done on day "1"
    2) Connect new line at new address - engineers "cancelled" on Day 1. No reasons given on the order and I wasn't contacted to tell me all had gone to a ball of chalk..... I'd have been none the wiser had I not bothered to check.
Over the weekend I spoke with various people, leading to a new order for a new line, to be installed on day "4" (today). It wasn't possible to pull my old number out of the allocatable pool (presumably (good!) it was still allocated to the cancelled order?) The engineers were "asked" in a note on the order to move my old number back onto the line.
This line is now up and running on a temporary number.
As my O2 broadband reconnection is waiting till I have a line with a stable number on it and I am keen to get it back asap, how long should I have to wait? Is there anything that could happen that will sabotage getting my number back and what should I do to prevent this?
    Jon

I am with you on this and am very interested also as to the answer.
I was originally with BT, then moved to Sky as I wanted Sky TV, and thought it best to get the complete package. They never once mentioned, "oh by the way if you move home you lose your number". I think they should highlight this, and then watch there customer base drop.
Anyways, that aside. I have decided to come back to BT, and BT have created a new number at my new address, and when the line is activated I have to call to get a renumber and hope that the number I want hasn't been taken.
i presume by law Sky have to put the number back into the pool, and therefore should be able to get BT to get it back. Fingers crossed.
What reasons could there be that they cant get the number back.

  • How long should it take for a new vault to be created?

I have a late 2009 27" iMac i7 with 16GB of RAM. I use referenced masters. The masters are located on a Drobo connected with FW 800. The internal drive on the iMac is a 1TB drive. The Aperture library is located on that drive and is 158.39 GB. I have about 110,000 master images. Most of them are RAW files shot with a succession of Nikon bodies (D100, D200, D300, and D400). I am in the process of moving a vault off of the Drobo and onto another external hard drive. I started the vault creation on Friday morning (3 days, 6 hours ago) and Aperture shows that it is still working on it.
I have read the germane threads and have given it over three days now to complete. There is very little, if any, progress on the visual indicator that the task is nearing completion. It shows the job as about halfway done. However, Aperture still shows as responding in the Force Quit menu. Aperture is currently using up 11.2 GB of available RAM. Normally, I don't have any memory swaps. Now, page ins are 13,418,681, page outs are 7,226,523, and swaps are at 43.70 GB. CPU utilization shows Aperture consistently at about 170% of capacity.
I really don't want to force quit Aperture for fear of what state it might leave my database. On the other hand, I need my machine and I can't use it until this process finishes or I force quit it.
How do I know if Aperture is actually doing something or is it stuck in an infinite loop? What are the repercussions of doing a force quit? How long should I wait to see if it will actually finish on its own accord?
Any insights, comments, or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
    Rick

    Rick-
You are not being ignored. I for one just do not know what to say because it depends on how badly you need the use of the Mac and how at-risk your data are. One thought would be to just use the Mac (letting Aperture page out while other apps use the RAM) but that is a risk if the RAM is frozen for some reason. It does sound like you may have a memory leak.

What I do not understand is what you mean by "moving a vault off the Drobo." I would think that if you are making a new Vault that would involve the internal drive and the new drive, no major interaction with the very slow Drobo except to point to Masters there (I could be wrong).
Also could some of your files be managed on the Drobo rather than referenced?

  • How long should upgrade to Yosemite take?

I have downloaded Yosemite from the AppStore and on my initial attempt to install got to the point of having a grey screen with apple in the middle and a progress bar which stopped about 1/4th the way to completion.  I let it run overnight after reading posts online indicating that it should resolve itself with time.  After over 12 hours, I restarted the late 2012 MacBook Air and it would immediately go back to the same point in the installation.  I then booted to the recovery disk and restored Maverick from my TimeMachine.  I have tried to install again and have been stuck in the same spot for over 12 hours.  I've tried entering Command-L to observe the log file with no change in what is being displayed.  How long should I wait?

Install after download seems to take around a half hour.  Of course it will depend on your hardware.

Depends how much data you have.
And how you transfer it, if you chose wireless (for the convenience) you have chosen the slowest possible method, hours will pass.

You have limited opportunity to attempt to create a backup of your created files.
That is what the SafeBoot or safemode appears to allow you -- at the moment.
Since the hard disk drive exhibits signs of failure or other major issues, plan
on a replacement in the near future. You may be able to get the computer to
start up in a regular full OS X (not safe mode) but consider its hours are limited.
An externally enclosed hard disk drive (with own power supply, not relying on
Mac ports to run it) is a good basic means of which to use a disk utility to make
a copy or a Clone of the current OS X. This may help retrieve an archive that
could be used along with a Time Machine backup, to restore your Mac once you
get a new hard drive installed inside.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • HT5262 How long should the icloud back up take?

How long should the iCloud back up take? I only have 4gb of storage but it has taken almost an hour already with approximately 2 hours remaining.

    Hi RMaskery14,
If you are concerned about the time your iCloud backup is taking, you may find the following article helpful:
My backup is taking a long time to finish.
Backing up and restoring takes time, especially if you have a lot of data or a slow connection. Depending on the size of your backup and the speed of your network, you may need more time than expected to complete the process. Using a reliable connection when backing up your device is highly recommended.

  • HT1766 How long should it take for a icloud back up of about 6.4GB?  It has been running all night and not complete.

How long should it take for an icloud backup of about 6.4GB?  I selected a manual backup and it has been running all night?  Thanks

That's going to depend alot on your internet connection speed. 6.4 GB is alot of data, especially if your connection speed is slow (DSL) or low-end cable speeds of ~1.5 Mbps.

How long should it take it to back up icloud to iphone 5c?

The answer depends on the amount of data to be restored, the speed of your Internet connection, and wireless network conditions. It could take the better part of a day.

  • I am using a WD external hard drive for backing up my laptop with Time Machine, but I have to do it manually. How do I know when it has finished the back up? How long should it take?

I am using an external WD hard drive for backing up my laptop. I have to do it manually, so I can't set Time Machine to just do it for me. How do I know when it is done backing up? How long should this take?

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    tmutil compare -E
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command will take at least a few minutes to run. Eventually some lines of output will appear below what you entered.
Each line that begins with a plus sign (“+”) represents a file that has been added to the source volume since the last snapshot was taken. These files have not been backed up yet.
Each line that begins with an exclamation point (“!”) represents a file that has changed on the source volume. These files have been backed up, but not in their present state.
Each line that begins with a minus sign (“-“) represents a file that has been removed from the source volume.
At the end of the output, you’ll get some lines like the following:
    Added:
    Removed:
    Changed:
These lines show the total amount of data added, removed, or changed on the source(s) since the last snapshot.

  • How long should it take to download Mountain Lion?

How long should it take to download and install Mountain Lion?  I have been downloading it for about 5 hours and it still has 1 gig to go.  My current OS X is 10.7.4

It depends on what bottlenecks you have interposed.
If you have a fast Ethernet connection, not cable Internet, that is not throttled by your ISP, and are using fast Ethernet on your local network, you should be able to download in about an hour.
If you are transmitting it over your wireless connection, it may take substantially longer.

About all you can do is wait until it finishes or you get an error message.

  • HT4718 am trying to install OS X Lion for the first time. So far it has been downloading for about 2 hours. How long should it take?

    Can anyone help please?
Lion download to iMac has been running for about 2 hours and is still not halfway yet. How long should it take? should I cancel and start again?

1500Kbs is 1.5Mbs. That is Kilo bits per second. There are 8 bits to a byte so if you divide 1500 (or 1,500,000) by 8 you get 187500 bytes a second. Divide 3.5GBs (3,500,000,000), that capitol B is for Bytes, by that 187500 you get 18666.666 seconds. Which needs to be divided by 60 to get the minutes and then again by 60 to get the hours.
    5.1851xxx hours.
I use to have a 3Mbs DSL connection and it took me over 3 hours to download Lion. Now that I have a 19Mbs Cable connection it take about an hour to download and install.
So wait it will happen eventually. If you cancel and start again your are still going to wait 5+ hours.
