My iPod drained its batteries over the weekend. Needed to reset the date and time and everything! How long should I let it charge on the AC adapter before turning it on and using it? (while still charging, of course.)

if you mean how long you should let it charge before starting to listen to music on it while it is still charging then i would recommend that you let it charge until the battery meter is half full. Hope this helps.

Watching video depletes the battery faster than typing a letter. My MBP battery will go down from 100% to about 65% (sometimes down to 50%) in about 3 - 4 hours if I do nothing but browse this site and possibly watch a short video. It also depends on the screen brightness settings and a host of other things. If you only use it for 2 hours, then there is a problem and I'd take it to your nearest Genius Bar for a diagnosis.

How do you know it is not charging? Do you see anything on the screen at all? Have you tried a reset? Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons until you see the Apple logo and then release. If the phone was completly dead, it may take up to 15 seconds or more for the Apple logo to appear.

I find that when using mine I get about 6-6 1/2 hours just using it to browse the internet before I need to recharge it. If water drained out of your phone when you pulled it out of the toilet it is most likelyh dead. Stop trying to turn it on or plugging it in. You really need to put it in a bag of rice for 3-4 days and just leave it alone. It will take that long to get it totally dry to see if it is going to come back to life.
Good luck, but since you tried to turn it on, and plugged it in while it was probably still wet inside I would not count on it surviving.
