How long should it take to turn on an ipod?

I have an ipod touch (not the photo-taking type, the one that came out like a month before that. I think 3rd Generation? Software version 4.2.1). It is taking about 45-55 seconds to turn on. I have 1.33 available gb out of a capacity of 6.83 gb, if that's helpful. Is this normal, and just because it's full? Or what?

That's pretty normal. Out of the box and brand new, 35 sec. With time it degrades, just like everything else.

  • How long should it take to run chkdsk on iPod?

I know this should only be used as a last resort and could cause problems, but I am at the point where I have nothing to lose.
How long should it normally take to run chkdsk with both boxes checked (fix file system errors and fix bad sectors?)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The sensor is most likely regenerating regular expression cache tables.
Instead of analyzing each signature's regular expression independantly when a packet comes in, it will instead combine the regular expressions of all of the signatures into one giant regular expression and generate a state table, and then write the new state table to the disk/compactflash. (We term these the regular expression cache tables).
When you enable or disable a signature, or when you add in custom signatures, it will have to regenerate these cache tables, because that combined regex has now changed.
(NOTE: Version 5.0 has large improvements in this area. Cache tables are now shipped directly from Cisco for the standard unretired signatures as part of the signature update process. But if you add custom signatures or unretire signatures that Cisco has retired, then even 5.0 can take time to make the changes)
Creating these tables is very CPU intensive, so the sensor is not able to monitor traffic while the tables are being created.
So it is best to save modifications like enable/disabling, retiring/unretiring, changing regular expressions, and creating custom signatures for times when you can afford the sensor downtime.
NOTE: Modifications to severity, actions, summarizations, and filters do not affect the cache tables and should be able to be applied in a matter of seconds.

how long should it take to sync? my ipod classic was acting up so i reset in itunes and it is taking forever to sync.  i have about 4 days worth of music and 30 days of podcasts.

After the download of the iOS update is done, it can take an hour or more for the update. The download itself can take hours.

  • My iPhone 5 has been dead for weeks.. I just now found it and I plugged it in.. How long should it take for it to turn on?

My iPhone 5 has been dead for weeks.. I just now found it and plugged it in, how long should it take for it to turn on??

I think that the battery is dead because , if you don't charge it for a long time the battery will ruin. You must wait, with the charger plugged, for a long time to turn it on. it could be also a worse problem and you have to replace your battery

  • How long should it take iOS 6.1 to load on my iPhone?

How long should it take iOS 6.1 to load on my iPhone? It's been 3 hours and it is stuck in the same part of the download.

I now have the new phone. The order number is still not appearing on My 02.
It turns out that when I bought the phone, it was assigned a new sim card/telephone number. Now there are two phone numbers on my o2 account - the one I use, the one that came with the new phone.
The order number is appearing under the new sim card's phone number, not the one I intend to use.
Hopefully, O2'll be able to update the order and link it to the telephone number I use. It's not a major problem (at all) but I'd rather have it connected to the number I use than a random number that came with the phone.

    Hey Beck,

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

  • About how long should it take to process a 1:40m movie in iMovie 11?

about how long should it take to process a 1:40m movie in iMovie 11?

    Hi
And the free space avail. on the Start-Up (Macintosh HD) also play an important role.
For interlaced SD-Video Quality (as on old fat TVs) - I never go less than 25Gb free space (per hour Video)
    For HD - about 4 - 5 times more
If strange Video-Codecs - that might need lot's of conversions to be used - then multiply with 2 - 3 times more and Hope.
I make the conversion of raw material first outside iMovie to make things easier.
TO GET IT TO WORK SLIGHTLY FASTER
    • Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk
    • No other programs running in BackGround e.g. Energy-Saver
    • Don’t let HD spin down or be turned off (in Energy-Save)
    • Move hard disks that are not to be used to Trash - To be disconnected/turned off
    • Goto Spotlight and set the rest of them under Integrity (not to be scanned)
    • Set screen-saver to a folder without any photo - then make an active corner (up right for me) and set pointer to this - turns on screen saver - to show that it has nothing to show
    • No File Vault on - Important
    • NO - TimeMachine - during iMovie/iDVD work either ! IMPORTANT
    • Lot's of icons on DeskTop/Finder also slows down the Mac noticeably
    • Start a new User-Account and log into this and iMovie get's faster too - if a project is in a hurry
    • And let Mac run on Mains - not just on battery
    Yours Bengt W

  • How long should it take my iPad to charge

How long should it take my iPad to charge?

What model iPad? 1,2,3,4 or mini? When you ask a question, you need to provide enough info to answer.
I assume you mean from near 0% to 100%.
Depending on the model, it takes 3 to about 8 hours.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • HT1766 How long should it take for a icloud back up of about 6.4GB?  It has been running all night and not complete.

How long should it take for an icloud backup of about 6.4GB?  I selected a manual backup and it has been running all night?  Thanks

That's going to depend alot on your internet connection speed. 6.4 GB is alot of data, especially if your connection speed is slow (DSL) or low-end cable speeds of ~1.5 Mbps.

  • How long should it take to restore icloud back up to an iphone 5comments, how long should it take to restore icloud back up to an iphone 5comments

How long should it take it to back up icloud to iphone 5c?

The answer depends on the amount of data to be restored, the speed of your Internet connection, and wireless network conditions. It could take the better part of a day.

  • I am using a WD external hard drive for backing up my laptop with Time Machine, but I have to do it manually. How do I know when it has finished the back up? How long should it take?

I am using an external WD hard drive for backing up my laptop. I have to do it manually, so I can't set Time Machine to just do it for me. How do I know when it is done backing up? How long should this take?

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    tmutil compare -E
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command will take at least a few minutes to run. Eventually some lines of output will appear below what you entered.
Each line that begins with a plus sign (“+”) represents a file that has been added to the source volume since the last snapshot was taken. These files have not been backed up yet.
Each line that begins with an exclamation point (“!”) represents a file that has changed on the source volume. These files have been backed up, but not in their present state.
Each line that begins with a minus sign (“-“) represents a file that has been removed from the source volume.
At the end of the output, you’ll get some lines like the following:
    Added:
    Removed:
    Changed:
These lines show the total amount of data added, removed, or changed on the source(s) since the last snapshot.

  • How long should it take to download Mountain Lion?

How long should it take to download and install Mountain Lion?  I have been downloading it for about 5 hours and it still has 1 gig to go.  My current OS X is 10.7.4

It depends on what bottlenecks you have interposed.
If you have a fast Ethernet connection, not cable Internet, that is not throttled by your ISP, and are using fast Ethernet on your local network, you should be able to download in about an hour.
If you are transmitting it over your wireless connection, it may take substantially longer.

  • HT201376 I've erased and formatted the hard drive accordingly in order to reinstall OS X. everything went fine until about half way through the install. it just seems to stop. how long should this take? should i do something else to speed it up?

I've erased and formatted the hard drive accordingly in order to reinstall OS X. everything went fine until about half way through the install. it just seems to stop. how long should this take? should i do something else to speed it up?

About all you can do is wait until it finishes or you get an error message.

  • HT4718 am trying to install OS X Lion for the first time. So far it has been downloading for about 2 hours. How long should it take?

    Can anyone help please?
Lion download to iMac has been running for about 2 hours and is still not halfway yet. How long should it take? should I cancel and start again?

1500Kbs is 1.5Mbs. That is Kilo bits per second. There are 8 bits to a byte so if you divide 1500 (or 1,500,000) by 8 you get 187500 bytes a second. Divide 3.5GBs (3,500,000,000), that capitol B is for Bytes, by that 187500 you get 18666.666 seconds. Which needs to be divided by 60 to get the minutes and then again by 60 to get the hours.
    5.1851xxx hours.
I use to have a 3Mbs DSL connection and it took me over 3 hours to download Lion. Now that I have a 19Mbs Cable connection it take about an hour to download and install.
So wait it will happen eventually. If you cancel and start again your are still going to wait 5+ hours.

  • Ripping DVD's - How long should it take?

How long should it take to rip a whole DVD? PQDVD seems the easiest, but it rips at 1x speed (or close to it). Are there programs out there that do it faster? Are there programs that are cheaper? $35 is a lot of money.

I use DVD Decryptor (free) to rip the VCD files from the DVD.
I then use Videora for iPod to encode them to MP4.
Time for DVD Decrypt is about 15 minutes for a 2 hour movie.
Time for Videora is about an hour and a half for a 2 hour movie (give or take a half hour).
DVD Decryptor needs to be set to Not split the files based on size, and there is another tab that asks if you want to split the VCD files at all. Both set to none, find in the options screen.
    Good luck!
