HOW LONG TO BURN BLU RAY VIA COMPRESSOR 3.5?

Does anybody know the ballpaerk figure as to how long a 115 minute FCP 7 project exported to self contained movie and brought into Compressor 3.5 to burn a blu ray disk on an external blu ray writer will take? Is Roxio Toast any faster? Thanks much for your help.

This is getting more interesting by the minute. I have now set the project up as two blu ray DVD's -each around 72 minutes. When I go to 'send to compressor' from fcp 7, if I select HD DVD 90 minutes (assume that is the correct method as there is no 'blu ray' option) and then set Job Action to Blu Ray, I get the message with that nice little yellow triangle warning stating: "Cannot create Blu Ray disc as no target that is either mpeg 2 video elementary stream or H.264 stream". The fcp project in compressor is dolby digital prof. 2.0 and HD H.264 6.75 mbps.
I'm obviously doing something wrong here(?)
The HD DVD presets create files that are usable in DVD Studio Pro for making HD DVD's - not for authoring Blu-ray discs.
Here's what you need to do:
Create a new preset from "H.264 for Blu-ray".
Leave the video format and frame rate set to automatic, but lower the bitrate down to 20 Mbps with a max of 25 Mbps.
Then add a Dolby Digital Audio track as a second target.
Under job action set to create blu-ray disc but save it to the hard drive rather than trying to burn directly. (I know this an annoying extra step but there's been issues reporting with burning Blu-ray/AVCHD discs over 10 minutes in length.)
This will get it onto a single disc and 20 Mbps h.264 will still look pretty good.

  • How do I burn BLU-RAY DVDS from my iMacs?

I own a video production company and we can burn dvds in compressor, but we can't figure out how to setup a menu with multiple tracks to select different options.  Like a menu page.  Does anyone know how to do this on a Mac or by using an optional software?
A couple times compressor has gave us errors on burning a normal mov clip to Blu Ray, so if you recomeend or know any other softwares or even if I have to purchase a PC just to burn Blu Ray DVD's, can you please help me.

Does anyone know how to do this on a Mac or by using an optional software?
I do this using iDVD which is no longer available from Apple, but still available as part of iLife 09 and 11 versions from online vendors. You can either use Chapters or (my preference) simply import your videos as separate movies which will then show up as separate entities in the menu (and selectable separately).
FWIW, Macs do not support burning or playing blu-ray without additional software (and a blu-ray burner) -  Roxio Toast is one that will work.

  • Burning Blu-Ray with Compressor

Do any of you kind people know where I can find a step by step process to burn a Blu-Ray disc using compressor. I was able to do it once and it burned with no sound, and I have not been able to replicate even that process. I am able to use Compressor just fine other than with Blu-Ray. Apples documentation on how to use the Blu-Ray encoding part of Compressor is rather scant. I really need a detailed step by step guide on how to do it.
    thanks--pete

File>New Batch From Template>Create Blu Ray.
Then drag your exporting movie file onto the Compressor movie well or right click on the downward arrow and choose Source>File to locate your movie file.
But a blank BDR or BDRE in your blu burner and chose submit.

  • What do i need to burn blu-rays?

Hello everyone. I'm new to Final Cut Pro, and Macs in general, so please bare with me. I'm a film student, and recently purchased a Canon XH-A1s and a Mac Pro with Final Cut Pro 6 to jump start my video production business.
My only problem is that i only have the ability to produce HD video, so when it comes to distribution, DVD is really not an option. I've heard with an upgrade to Final Cut Pro 7 that you can finally burn Blu-Rays without a third party application, just wondering if that was true.
I was planning on upgrading to Final Cut Pro 7, and purchasing an external, USB Blu-Ray read/write drive. Should everything work ok if i go down that route?
    Thanks everyone,
    -Billy

The Mac does not come with a Blu-ray burner. So you would be burning a Blu-ray compatible file to a standard DVD-5 or DVD-9. Neither of which are ideal for authoring Blu-ray content.
Do an exhaustive search online about Blu-ray authoring and disk creation. This is not something for the hobbyist video creator (and I say hobbyist in the sense that you're not creating thousands of copies for mass distribution, so no one take offense.)
Blu-ray is expensive and requires a lot of planning and prep to do it right. But you can't burn an official Blu-ray disc on a Mac as they stand. And, Compressor doesn't burn discs, it only creates files. DVD Studio Pro would be the app that would burn the Blu-ray disc, and DVDSP has not been upgraded since long before Blu-ray came on the scene.

  • Trying to burn Blu-ray on Power PC G5

Does anyone make a Blu-ray video authoring software program that does not require an Intel processor?  I'm trying to use Roxio's Toast 10 with BD/HD Plug-in but is is not working.
I have a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 running OSX 10.5.8 (Leopard) with 10 GB of Ram and Final Cut Studio 2 (Final Cut Pro 6.0.4)
My Blu-ray burner is a LaCie d2 Firewire drive.

My Toast 10 now works in burning Blu-ray video.  I've learned from other posts that there was a problem when I updated to QuickTime 7.7 in that certain video file types were no longer recognized. Unfortunately you just can't install an earlier version over the newer version the traditional way.
I've learned however that there is a way to install an earlier version of QuickTime (in my case QT 7.6.4 without completely re-loading the Operating System software (Leopard for me).
There's a Shareware program called Pacifist which takes elements from the earlier QuickTime installer and replaces the newer versions problem files. The QuickTime version # still says your current version but the elements have changed. See this link for how to do this:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/using_pacifist_to_downgrade_quicktime .html
After rebooting, the QuickTime Player (and more importantly Final Cut Pro) supported all the video files.  Toast 10 still had a problem until I trashed the Toast plist and pref files in the User>Library>Preferences folder and then re-installed Toast 10.0.9.  Now everything works!
I still want to buy a better Blu-ray authoring program because the menus in Toast are so basic.

  • Best way to burn Blu-ray if transcoding is already done? Toast 10?

I've seen the answer to this question in the past, but just spent some time searching the forums and couldn't find the answer.
I currently choose the route of FCP > Share to burn Blu-rays.  No problem, everything's good (except limited menu options).  However, once I close out of the program after the very long transcoding time, what is the best way to make another copy of the blu-ray without transcoding again, and without the first blu-ray I made (for example if the client already has the disc and wants another copy)?
I believe Toast 10 is one answer, but before I go and update my current Toast to 10 I wanted to see if this was the preferred method, or, if there is a way to do it in Compressor.
    Thank you!
    Eric

In the ~Library, Application Support>Apple Qmaster you'll find Create Disk. Open it.  If your project is on the recently opened list, you can burn additional copies that way.
Or consider saving your file as a disk image; choose Hard Drive as Output Device. Pretty sure Toast will take an img file. Or use Disk Utilities.
    Good luck.

  • "media not present" error when burning blu ray in PE12

I have two systems, both ground-up builds, identical Win 7 Home Premium and Premiere Elements 12 installs.  Both systems have internal blu-ray burners.  One burner is an ASUS BW-12B1AT and the other is a Pioneer burner (don't recall the model number).
System 1:  Intel 4770k with Gigabyte MB
System 2: AMD 8-core with Gigabyte MB
System 1 gives "Media not present" error in PE12 when attempting to burn to blu ray discs using Verbatim discs. System is able to burn DVDs and CDs, and playback blu ray discs.  System is also capable of burning blu rays using Nero.
System 2 works fine - blu ray media is recognized instantly by PE12 when in the drive and burns blu rays perfectly.
I swapped the blu ray drives and SATA cables from System 1 and System 2 with the same result - this eliminated the drive manufacturer and cables from being the problem, as both drives worked perfectly in System 2 and neither worked in System 1.  I also tried different SATA ports and power supply taps on System 1 without any success.
Then, I noticed that on System 1, with the dialog box open and indicating the "media not present" error, if I ejected the blu ray disc and reinserted it, the burner LED would flash 18 times (approx. 1/sec) and then pulse briefly indicating a burst of activity for about 1 second, as if it was either reading the disc or writing to the SATA.  If I pressed the "rescan" button during this brief burst of LED activity, then the disc was recognized and I could proceed to burn it.    If I tried to press the rescan button at any time before this instant or after, the "media not present" error did not clear.
To me, this is an indication that something in the handshake timing of the SW and the burner is not correct, and that timing differences in the system HW are not provided for in the SW. I see that many others have had this issue and have had to buy work-around image burners to address this. I believe your burner drivers need to be reworked to eliminate this bug.  This is evidenced by the fact that Nero works and your SW does not, and that different systems consistently exhibit this problem.
Please let me know when you will have a SW patch to address this or if you have any idea of system settings that can be adjusted (I don't know of any myself) that would eliminate this problem.

If you have a feature request or bug report, then consider filing a Adobe Feature Request Bug Report Forum with Adobe
Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
The likelihood of an Adobe engineer seeing your thread here is essentially slim to none.
Your results are very interesting but lots more variables to consider.
Do you have any version of Premiere Elements other than 12? It would be interesting to learn if a prior version's burn
dialog would present with the Media Not Preset issue for your burn to Blu-ray System 1. That is easy enough done with a tryout of
11 or 10 or 9 from the following web site. ProDesignTools: Adobe® Developments in Focus
On the other side of the coin, you could give the new version a look in this regard. A new version is expected at the
    end of September 2014.
As an aside, have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update, using an opened project's Help Menu/Update. If not, I would encourage
you to do so. It does correct an Expert workspace text styles issue plus other matters undefined by Adobe.

  • DVD Studio burning blu-ray

I cant find the thread dealing with this subject although I am sure many people must have raised this issue. I would like to know if Apple finally decided in its new DVD Studio version to add the possibility of authoring in HD and burning blu-rays discs?

As I said, what I want to know is if Apple's DVD Studio Pro will at last decided to offer the solution of burning the authoring made through this application into a Blu-Ray (rather than having to use another application much more simplified and rudimentary).
I know Steve Jobs gambled to fully suppport HD-DVD rather than Blu-Ray and he lost this gamble since HD-DVD is no longer a standard. So I am wondering if the reason why he is dragging his feet to implement Blu-Ray capabilities is that he does not like to loose and will do everything to prevent Apple from integrating the Blu-Ray standard in its applications...

  • MacPro will burn dvds but won't burn blu-rays anymore?

I've been using Compressor (ver. 3) to burn blu-rays and dvds of my movie for several months just fine.  A few days ago after opening my blu-ray project in Compressor it did the usual: tray opens and it says "Please insert blu-ray media…"  I put a blank disk in (the same kind I've been using all along) and pushed the keyboard eject button to close the tray but it didn't move.  I manually pushed the tray closed and I could hear it spin up several times and then it spit the disk back out.  I repeated this several times with no luck.  I tried different blu-ray media (didn't work).  I tried burning a dvd and it DID work, so I'm thinking it's not the blu-ray drive.  However I tried burning with Disk Utility and it wouldn't work.  I also tried to make a blu-ray burn folder and it wouldn't work.  It doesn't make sense that it can burn dvds but not blu-rays.
I'm not sure what else to do.  I haven't upgraded (still on Lion).  Would upgrading to Mavericks fix this?  Everything's been working great so I didn't want to upgrade and mess it all up.  I fear taking it to an Apple Store will cost more than purchasing a new blu-ray burner.
Any thoughts or advice?  Thank you for your help!

    Upgrade to Yosemite.

  • Burn Blue-Ray with 7.1 sound - Dolby TrueHD

Hi everybody, well, new version of FCS is out, including Compressor 3.5. It's great to see the Blue-Ray burning possibility, but it seems there's no support for 7.1 surround sound. Is there any way to burn Blue-Ray discs on Mac with Dolby True HD 7.1 surround sound? Thanks

    not possible yet.

As far as I know, motion templates can only be used with DVD Studio Pro. FCP X only lets you add a background image to the DVD menu.

  • Is my hl-dt-st bddvdrw gbc-h20l capable of burning Blu Ray discs (BD-R)?

Hello. I have a HP Pavilion Elite m9470 Desktop PC with an  hl-dt-st bddvdrw gbc-h20l drive running Windows 7 Ultimate (the pc came originally with Vista). For the first time I tried to burn a Blu Ray disc BD-R in fact. When I loaded the disc into tray, the pc started trying to read the disc, without success for endless minutes. In fact the door could not open even manually - I had to restart the system to take the disc out.
I always thought that the specific drive was capable of not only reading but also burning Blu Rays - could someone let me know? Is it a matter of appropriate software?

    You're welcome.

  • Burning Blu-Ray: Sometimes successful / Sometimes not

I've been burning Blu-rays for the last couple of days. After a couple of burns, I get this message:
    But, here's the deal:
I do indeed have a disk in the burner
I can't eject said disk (so the computer may "find it") without dismounting...
If I do unmount the burner, FCPX starts the burn process all over... with the same above message
A "cycle" ensues... until I restart--not just the app--but the computer.
Then... I'm good for a couple of burns before the cycle starts again.
    Trouble shoots:
I've tried this across TWO different burners--two different brands, one NEW out of the box. Same result.
This has happened across TWO different projects in the same library
    Anyone have any ideas?

I have read from earlier posts that it is not possible to burn Blu-ray© disks from DVDSP. Can third party hardware be purchased to burn such a disk having assembled the digital assets in DVDSP? Any recommendations?

Thanks for your responses. I see that from DVD SP Late-Breaking news that'HD DVD projects authored by DVD SP 4.0.3 fully comply with the 1.0 version of he HD DVD specification...the new HD DVD standard. The disks will play on Apple DVD Player version 4.6.5 or later.
I haven't commited to the Blu-ray© player, just the Sony HD camcorder.
When the time comes, I will burn to a red laser disc per the Apple recommendation. And thanks for the Roxio link which makes it clear that a PC is needed for Blu-ray©
