How long to recive new install disk

can anyone tell me how long you have to wait for new install disk as ive been waiting over a week now with a imac icant use. im glad i kept my windows pc im not very happy with apple having said that its nice looking paper weight.

On August 24 I requested one 15" PB G4 battery replacement and two 12" PB
battery replacements. Received two e-mail confirmations from Apple.
Within about three weeks I did receive the 15" PB replacement battery.
The two 12" PB replacements have never showed.
It would be nice if Apple could put up an announcement giving some indication when these batteries will ship.
BTW, I've continued using the bad batteries because I don't have another option. So far their behavior is 100% normal.

  • Updating iphoto to 6.0 on other mac from new install disk?

    Hi,
I have a new mac book and would like to install iphoto 6.0 on my older mac. Can I simply use the newer install disk to get the latest version of iphoto? Or will I have to now buy a full package of iLife?
    Thanks in advance

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How long does it take install Aperture

    I have 1MB speed internet connection ...
So how long does to take install Apetture 3.5.1

Aperture 3.5.1 has a file size of 1,01 GB.
So you'll need at least 1000 seconds or 17 Minutes at full speed.

  • How long will the new 2011 imacs last?

Based on older imacs and types of precoessors how long would a new imac be expected to last

Also depends on what you mean. Do you mean physically last or remain functionally viable? Old Macs from the '80s are still ticking along, look on eBay.
While all manufactured products are subject to being lemons, I think it's far more likely that your machine will become "functionally obsolete" before it dies. My late-2004 iMac G5 (2GB RAM) is just now starting to show its age since some developers are starting to drop PowerPC support, but other than that it works like the day it was new.

How long does it take to install the new iphone update, my iphone is been stuck at the same % for over a hour.

The update should not take more than 5 minutes to download and update.
I would recommended pressing on the sleep/wake button for a few seconds untill you see the 'slide to shut down' bar. Shut the device down and try again.

  • How do I create an install disk from recovery partition to install on a blank hd

So, my hard drive is slowly dying . . . about all I'm able to access is the recovery partition. I bought a new hard drive to replace it, but no longer have the install disks that came with the computer. How do I make install disks from the recovery partition that I can use to install Mountain Lion back onto the new hard drive?

    You have two possibilities:
    1. Open App Store > Purchases and download Mountain Lion. When the download has finished, open Lion Diskmaker to make a bootable Mountain Lion USB drive > http://blog.gete.net/lion-diskmaker-us/
    2. Download Recovery Disk Assistant from the Support website to create a Recovery HD on your USB drive.
The difference between them is that the first contains OS X Mountain Lion, so you won't have to download Mountain Lion from the App Store when you are going to install Mountain Lion

  • How long to erase new hard drive

    Hi!
I am replacing the hard drive for my imac a1173.
The original drive was a WD Caviar 1600JS. I ordered a WD Caviar 500GB sata III 7200 RPM 16MB cache.
I was reading of the need to jumper the drive to limit the transfer to 1.5 GB/s and I did following directions from WD web site.
I installed the drive and I ran Disk Utility as the drive was not showing up as destination to install OS X.
Well Disk Utility shows the drive (465.8 GB WDC WD5000...) - Untitled.
I selected it and started the Erase process. Volume format Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and as Security Option I left the default option (Do not erase data) as I think this was going to be the fastest way.
My question is: how long does it take for DU to get the drive ready?
The erase process has been running for almost a day now. I left the computer on and this morning I still see the colored wheel turning. Not sure what to do. It seems frozen to me but it may be running in the background as I was reading it may take a loooong time to format a drive depending on the speed of the CPU etc.
Since my imac is old, I think it may be normal to take all this time, but I am not sure so I would like to hear from you.
Do you think the drive is not compatible and that's why DU cannot erase it? Should I order a different drive?
Do you think I should let it run and wait for the erase process to complete?
    Please advise...thank you

There has been reported problems with that WD Caviar drive.
Also you didn't mention what iMac you have
Since about 2009,  one can't replace the internal boot drive on iMac's due to software Apple installs on the drive we can't get. The fans will race if you manage to get it to work.

  • How do perform a new install of iTunes on C drive, but locate the library on a second internal drive?

I realize this topic has been kind of beat to death, but I'm not finding exactly the information I'm searching for. There is a lot of information about splitting libraries, but I want to do a new install, and have my media located on a separate drive, with nothing but the software on the C drive.
I have a pretty massive music library (noting new or special about that), so an new install of iTunes is always a huge chore. Like many other users in posts I've read with similar questions, my C drive is SSD (also have another dedicated to something else entirely), and so I have purchased a standard spinning drive to handle my iTunes media, and externals for everything that isn't meant for iTunes. Basically, I need the library database to be located on my 'E' drive (let's say), and I will move most of my files manually. I just need iTunes to find them after doing so, and then I'll simply resync my iPhone to the new setup. I have a few reservations about that, but that is a different topic.Right now, I just need to get iTunes installed and have it recognize/find media on a separate drive. Also, I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit, in case that is relavant.
Sorry if there are a million thread with the same info, but all I was finding was how to split the library, and that's not at all what I want to achieve. Thanks in advance!

hello again Chris - I hope you're able to help, or someone as knowledgeable.
I've started another discussion because installing this newest version of iTunes has caused problems like I've never encountered.
    - I did a fresh install as I intended (new PC running Win 7 64-bit). Installation is smooth, and opens fine. Then I create the new library on "I" drive, iTunes then stalls when opening. I just tried this again, and it has been unresponsive for ~10 min, not fully open.
    - I see the new library just fine when I peek in the "I"drive.
    - In a previous attempt, I used an existing library file, iTunes still stalls, though it loaded the content. It just freezes when I enter the store. The content loaded fine. Still, couldn't access new material or materials I've purchased and won't download after installing and trying to access iTunes store.
-each time I try, I unstall every connected program to iTunes, even removing items from registry.
I'm seriously perplexed. I've been using iTunes since 2005 and have never had any kind of issue like this. this PC is a gaming rig. Top of the line components all the way. I even cancled overclock settings to make sure that wasn't the culprit. Still no joy. I had iTunes installed on this machine about 3 months back, but since "C" drive is SSD, I uninstalled until I recently purchased a standard HD specifically for media content. While writing this, it just brough up the tutorial. I click an option (iTunes in the Cloud) just to see if it moves ahead. It does nothing. I have to minimize the browser to access. Apple no longer offers support - they want me to pay to help with free software for which I've already spent loads of money on for content. This is absolutely insane. What has changed in the last few months to make this software behave this way? Previous versions HAVE worked on this machine. I simply couldn't contain the library on my drive. No help was offed on my other post. I'm desparate at this point. Please. Someone from the community or Apple help me. I've got literally several thousands of dollars of media that I cannot access on my PC. ****, the OS is lean and I barely have any software installed. This makes no sense at all. Sorry that I'm all over the place. I've been working for hours on a problem with BitCoin miners on another machine and combine with iTunes (which should be simple compared to the DIY component of mining hardware and software...which I'm actually able to solve!!!), and I'm fried and defeated. need sleep. Thanks in advance.

  • Can I use new install disks for older computer?

I have a new MBP (which I'm very excited about!). I am going to pass my two-year old MBP to one of my college kids. I would like to wipe it clean as he will be transferring all of his own info onto it from his current MBP (which will then be passed down to another college kid). I can't find the original install disk. Can I use the ones that came with the new machine?

No. The install disks are specific to the model they ship with.
I've read that a Retail copy of Snow Leopard will allow you to essentially do a 'fresh' install of the OS, but it does not include the diagnostics and configuration features of your original system disks.
You can call Apple and order a replacement set of disks for a nominal charge (around $40, I think I've read.) Since you're keeping it in the family, that would be an important thing to have with the Mac in case you cannot locate the originals.

  • How to create factory default install disks

I have been looking for a way to use the hidden area to create system/factory install disks and not just recovery disks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

OK, now I feel stupid. I found the request I was looking for under "Think Vantage" software and it worked great. There was two selections (I only saw the one at first) and all is great and well.
If anyone needs help with this, I would love to help. Email me at [email protected] on how to do this.
Thanks to all that read this request and those that repliad.
Cheers and best wishes to you and yours...

  • How long does itunes:new-feed-url take to completely change my podcast page?

I've used the itunes:new-feed-url to change my podcast page, but I'm curious how long it takes. I have a new episode up, but the podcast page located here doesn't show that third episode, even though the new feed as well as 301 redirect is in place.

The Store won't redirect to the new feed at http://www.tripodbroadcasting.com/givethatsomethought/feed/ until the next time it checks the old feed. You posted the latest episode only today: it usually takes 1-2 days for new episode to appear in the Store as it caches feeds and visits them in rotation to check for changes. When this happens it will transfer to the new feed. Subscribers are already redirected to the new feed and see the third episode.

  • How can I make an install disk for iTunes?

I need to update iTunes but I cannot get the download to complete. The connection has been confirmed as stable so it doesn't appear to be a system issue. If I make an install disk for the current version of iTunes on another PC, I should be able to install it. The download doesn't give options to save to a disk. How should I go about this?

The download doesn't give options to save to a disk
Go to the following webpage and click the "Download" button, and then click the "Save" button:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
... once the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file has downloaded, then copy the iTunesSetup.exe file across to your CD (or even a large-enough thumb drive or something similar). Copy the iTunesSetup to your PC from the CD or thumb, and start the install by doubleclicking on the file.

  • How long to recive your replacement battery

I was wondering how long it is taking everyone to recieve their replacement batteries in the recall. I got the confirmation email that said up to 4-6 weeks, but I was curious if it was really taking most people this long?
Has anyone already received their battery replacement?
(Not apple bashing here. Yeah, it ***** my battery is defective, but I completely understand it is not Apple's fault.)

On August 24 I requested one 15" PB G4 battery replacement and two 12" PB

  • Create a new Install Disk?

    Hello everybody!
I've got an iMac 233 with OS 9 on it, but it has no install disks. I'm wondering if I could make one.
I know that it can't burn discs, but I've got a Mac mini as well. The optical drive doesn't work too well, so could I install from a flash drive or an external HDD?
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi, Shake 'n' Bake -
I meant could you walk me through making an install disk....
If you want to make your own bootable disk with an installer app on it, your own version of an OS 9 Install CD, that would be extremely difficult. Making a bootable CD is not too hard; the prblem is, where would you get the installer app and the resource files it needs? The only source I know of for those would be an OS 9 Instal CD - and, if you have that, you don't need to make one. There is no complete OS 9 install available for download from Apple; the only downloads available are updaters, which require a pre-exisitng earlier version of OS 9 to be present.
As I said, making a bootable CD is not too difficult; you could do that, and place a copy of your exisitng System Folder on it in a disk image along with other things such as Disk First Aid, Drive Setup, etc. Since OS 9 can be successfully copied via drag and drop, you could use this disk to wipe the drive if needed, and then copy the duplicated System Folder back onto the hard drive.
To make a bootable CD you will need to use Toast - Apple's Disc Burner program can not create a bootable CD. The instructions for doing that come with Toast. I believe the last version of Toast that is usable in OS 9 is version 5.
As far as the additional files to place on the CD, make a disk image (a self-mounting one) and copy your existing System Folder and any other files you want to be able to replace on the hard drive into that. Make a separate folder (not in the disk image) named Utilities; in that folder place copies of Drive Setup, Disk Copy, and Disk First Aid - these are apps you may need to use while booted to the CD.
Frankly, I think you would be better off purchasing a retail OS 9 Install CD. They're not cheap, unless you can find one at a good price on EBay (be careful to get only a retail disk; those have a white label), but such a disk will do what you want with no bother or fuss.
One of the disadvantages of creating your own bootable disk with a copy of your existing System Folder on it is that if there is a problem with that OS, if it is damaged, copying it will also copy the problem or damage.
A 'real' OS 9 Install CD guarantees undamaged files.
