How long will allocating a new drive take?
Currently, we have a Xserve with a RAID 5 array with 6 drives allocated and one hot spare. I am going to add the hot spare to be a regular part of the array. They are all 500GB modules. Can anyone give me an idea of how long it will take to allocate the new drive space? I know it took about 3 days to initialize the original 6 drives. Should I expect that it will take a much shorter time, or is it just about the same regardless of how many drives it is allocating?

Just to clarify- you know that you will need to
remove the HFS+ filesystem and replace it with a new
file system in order to utilize the additional space.
(Backup, erase, make new volume, restore data)

I just got a new iMac. was following the onscreen instructions to do migration assistance and I guess it connected to my old iMac via wi fi. It never instructed me to connect via firewire. Did you try unplugging the power cord for a few seconds, then plugging it back in? That usually fixes similar problems for me.

I've just done the update directly on my iPhone from 7.0.4 to 7.0.6 and it took 15 minutes from start to finish - on my iPad yesterday it was similar.
However you do the update, directly on your iPad or via your computer's iTunes (via your computer will be slower), then copy your purchases over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and take a backup of your iPad - and preferably copy any important documents and/or photos off as well so that you have your own copy of them (the update should go smoothly, but it's best to be safe) -

I did a clean install on my iMac. Now I cannot access my backups. I can see the time capsule, but when I open time machine, I only have today which is the newly installed system. This depends on what the connection type is for the computer to the Time Capsule - wireless or Ethernet, how much data are involved, what generation of Time Capsule, and whether the transfers are to an HDD or SSD.

Normally activation should only be a matter of minutes, but if your iTunes library (where you're trying to activate the phone) is in a place where you have no cell service, it will not activate until you take it to a place where you do have service.
So if it is sitting idle and not activating that could be a reason (happened to me). If you're a Verizon customer you may have to dial *228, then press 1 to finish the activation. -
