How long will my current ipone4 last?  Do i really need to upgrade?

i dont see what i need to upgrade my iphone.. is a great i4 I just dont see why i need to upgrade when my cell is great on what i need. So l ask how long before i really need to upgrade?

The subject and body of your post says you have an iPhone 4 but your profile says iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 4 can only go as high as 7.1.2. Many app update and many new apps require iOS 8
The 4S to the current 8.1. The 4S  lags some on iOS 8. It could be that the 4S may not get iOS 10.
It is up to you if you want to purchases a new iPhone to get the new features introduced in the newer models
BTW, this is the iPodtouch forum

  • 1) How to reduce MacBook boot up time?  2) Should I upgrade my 2008 MacBook to Lion?  3) How long will a 2008 MacBook last (after 4 years)?  Thanks!

I have three quick questions to ask:
    1.  My MacBook (bought in late 2008,  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM,  160 GB HD, running Leopard/10.5.8) boots up quite slow.  It can take a while to boot up and shut down.
Question:  What should I do to reduce the boot up time?
I haven't done a clean up for a while, and am a MacBook newbie (after 4 years, still) for the tools.  I think I need to remove some applications but don't know exactly how. Also I am looking for stuff like System Defragment / Compression (tools available for Windows OS) to tune the hard disk performance, if possible.
    2.  Sort of related to this slow boot-up time - should I bother to upgrade to Snow Leopard (pay $ 29.00) and then upgrade to Lion (another $ 29 ?) for some 250 new features that I am not exactly sure if I will need it (or my 2008 MacBook can handle it well)?
My friend has a 2011 MacPro which he let me use it for a while, so I think I am already using Lion,  but frankly I can't tell much difference from the user experience (am just a very average Mac user!).
Question:  Should I bother the money and the time (I heard the downloading and installation time for Lion is very long) if all I care is boot-up time?
    3.  One last question - How long can my MacBook last?   Is there a way to find out the battery life?  Any indication that my MacBook might be on the edge of its life cycle anytime soon?
I heard that typically the life for a laptop (PC or Mac) is 2 years. I am not a heavy user, and I guess that's why my MacBook is still alive after 4 years.  But should I expect that to be failing any time soon?
    Thank you!

I'll try to make it short but with your questios, might be impossible.
I own both late 2008 MB Uni with 2Ghz and a brand new late 2011 MBP 13 inch.
I have lion running on both Macbooks with no slow down or issues.
The late 2008 I upgraded to 8GB Crucial DDR3 Memory and 320GB Seagate Hard Drive. Total cost to me? $140 CDN ( i live in Canada ).
My MB Uni's battery has 1047 cycle count and I still get 3-1/2 - 4 hours of battery life depending on what applications I'm using.
As for typical life of a PC or MAC ( I own both ).  The PC's life is shorter than a MB.  I have a 4 year old Dell Vostro that I had to do a RAM upgrade so Windows 7 would run properly.
My late 08 MB had 4GB of RAM when I upgraded to Lion with no issues.  i just decided to go 8GB because it was cheap.
A 2GB MB will boot up and run faster than a 4GB PC with windows 7.
Nothing is obsolete if you can still do your stuff on your MB.
To make it boot up faster, see what's loading on startup and take them off if you don't need them.

  • How long will my registration key last this time?

I got the PRO registration key to QT6 and in less than a month apple upgrades to QT7, my key won't work now. I don't mind paying for a new key, I like the new features but, how long is the key going to last this time? A few full versions I hope.

A few misconceptions about the "Pro" upgrade.
First. Your "Pro" registration will continue to work as long as your hardware and OS allow it.
I still use QT 5 Pro on my OS 9 hard drive partition. In addition to version 6 Pro.
On my Tiger OS HD I use both 6.5.2 and 7.0.3 Pro versions. 6.5.2 runs "on top" of the version 7 "framework".
All it takes is a bit of understanding of how the OS and the software apps are installed to keep your older version of QuickTime and maintain the "Pro" features.
BTW, my iMac G3 has version 6.5.2 Pro (from my original install and upgrade) and a new install of the "free" version 7.
Basic answer? Your Pro status will remain until your install QuickTime 8.0. Apple has been very consistent in the whole number version change before charging again for Pro features.

  • How long will this MacBook Pro last me?

I recently have received a mid-2009 macbook pro as a gift. I have upgraded the software to Mountain Lion (and most likely going to upgrade to Mavericks whenever it comes out). I am going to become a high school senior in the upcoming months. I was wondering how long this laptop would last me! I like gaming, but the graphics aren't that good even on low quality, but I'm sure this laptop will be fine for my last year of high school and til the end of college prehaps?
    Thanks,
    Christopher!
    Edit:
I understand there isn't just a breakdown date or timer, but I am just asking for a guess from the community! Sorry for the confusion if there was any.
    Thank you!

Your machine is about 4 years old and in it's end of life stage for a laptop.
It al depends how much abuse the previous owner did to it, how much wear on the keyboard/Superdrive and on the graphics etc.
I'd say another year or two and it's done.
The reason gaming is bad it's because they are designed for PC towers and the latest graphics which a laptop you can't upgrade.
Also the many OS X operating system versions also has a part as later OS X versions slow down older machines.
If you want to 3D game, then get a PS4 or a Windows 7/8 3D gaming tower and upgrade the video card every couple of years to a better one.
That's the only way, Mac's can't upgrade the video card anymore and new 3D games need better graphics.
The only way one can keep a Mac a very long time is to take exceeding great care of it, all the wear and tear on external devices, then there is a limit to upgrading operating systems and Apple will begin denying security updates as well.
    Good luck

  • How long will the MBP honestly last?

im endin my senior year of hs and ill need this computer to last me thru 4 yrs of college. is that a realistic expectation of the MBP or am i just kiddin myself?

You're not kidding yourself. But it's hard to answer this absolutely, without knowing what your requirements are. If you'll use the machine for email, web, office apps, etc., I'd say it will definitely last for 4 years, no problem. But if you want always be able to run the latest and greatest 3D-intensive video games on it, I'd say it definitely won't last 4 years. It's very likely at the end of 4 years there will be video games out there that you won't be able to run on a maxed out first-gen MacBook. But then, no computer I know of will keep up with game developers for 4 years.
Do you plan to do heavy graphics (video/imagery) work in college, or CAD, or audio recording/mixing? In these cases, some of the tools you'll use may release new versions that push the envelope for a MacBook near the end of the 4 years. But even in these cases, I think the MacBook will suffice. Worst case scenario, these apps will work, but slower than you'd like, near the end of the 4 years.

  • For How long will the posting threads last

    Hello Every One,
I 'd like to know, if i am collection all the necessary links which has the corresponding thread ids mentioned along with them. What would be the duration of their lasting.
please give complete details on this.
    Regards,
    karthik

    Kartik,
In general (or in ideal world of REST web) the link ID is permanent, i.e. it lasts forever.
As an 3.5 years SDN-er I can say that posts are not removed at all if they are not removed immediately (due to offensive text or illegal requests for commercial SAP materials or similar). But in practice SDN team changed at least twice the format of link URL-s. So be prepared to alter your "favorites" -- the thread/message ID's is stable but links themselves "evolve"

  • How long does the MBR Battery last in years? Deciding factor on purchasing? Help?

I'm nearly ready to pull the trigger and get my first MBR 15 inch, but something keeps nagging. The Battery. THE BATTERY. Yes the battery is relatively nice, and one might think insignificant in the grand scheme, but IT'S GLUED INSIDE THE COMPUTER, and basically IRREPLACEABLE unless you pay some ridiculous cost, my guess is around $400. So how long is the battery expected to last? 4 years? No battery lasts 4 years. It's mind-boggling to me why Apple decided to glue the battery. After 2 years of moderate to heavy use of your MBR you're just expected to fork over $400 for a new battery? A NEW BATTERY?!!!!! Realistically how long will the MBR battery last before it gives up the ghost and has to be plugged in 24/7?

It is not "glued" inside the computer.  And yes Apple offers a replacement program for $200 and under depending on the model for out of warranty:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=Macn otebooks
For in warranty for a defective battery, it is free:
    https://www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html
AppleCare can be bought at discount during the first year of computer ownership from:
    https://www.lacomputercompany.com/cgi-bin/rpcart/featured.cgi?group=appcare
Just remember to register it after receiving the box, and keep all the material inside, including the registration number until you get your enrollment number.
    How long?  Depends on usage:

  • How long is the iPad battery last while watching video on YouTube with 3G?

How long is the iPad2 battery last while watching video on YouTube with 3G?

My iPad 2 battery can use only ~7 hours 15mins when surfing the web using cellular data network. Is it normal?
I would say that's normal. Cellular uses more power than wifi. Your screen brightness is also a factor. Lower the screen brightness & battery will last longer.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • HT3209 how long does a rented movie last? and can i download it  in my pc, then to my ipad and then back to my pc?

how long does a rented movie last?
when i rent the movie in my pc, can i put it into my ipad and then back to my pc?

Yu can copy it to your iPad from your computer, but if you rent it directly on the iPad then you can't copy it off - from here :
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
From when you rent a movie you have 30 days in which to watch it, but once you start watching it you have 48 hours to finish watching it (24 hours in the US) - you can watch it as many times as like within those 48 (or 24) hours.

  • How long will Apple continue to release patches for Snow Leopard?

Now that Mountain Lion has been released, how long will Apple continue to support Snow Leopard with patches?

I think the support has already stopped for 10.6.8 if past practice is anything to go on.*
Past observation suggests Apple supports the current and the preceding OS.
On the  25th of July, 2012** it became no longer the preceding but relegated to 'bronze'.
    * exceptions have been known but are rare.
    ** when 10.8 came out.

  • How long will quicktime pro movie record for?

how long will quicktime pro movie record? i would like to record a 10+min onscreen movie clip. would like to find out before I purchase it. thanks. owen

how long will quicktime pro movie record?
That depends. How much free space do you have available on a single drive? Which compression format do you plan to use? How fast is your CPU. Barring the unexpected, QT 7 Pro will record until it runs out of scratch space. Frame rates are dependent on your CPU power which means newer, more powerful platforms record more frames per second and thus tend to have higher data rates up to the max standard for the system. Lastly, the compression format/device type/device capture size/graphic complexity combination also determines the average data rate. So, as long as the average data rate times the duration of the clip is less than the amount of free space available on your hard drive, you can record continuously.
i would like to record a 10+min onscreen movie clip.
If by "oncscreen" movie you are referring to a "screen capture" of a movie, the QT 7 Pro will not do this. You either need to use a third-party screen capture application or upgrade to Snow Leopard for QT X "screen capture" capabilities.

  • LED light on back - how long it's designed to last?

I woke up this morning to discover the LED light on my 4S was on.  It was around 90% six hours ago and it was 30% when I discovered it.  Is it possible that I permanently damaged the LED light and how long is it designed to last?  Also, is it likely that the light drained 10% per hour if I did leave it on for six hours?   I'm pretty sure it was off like usual when I slept because it was dark.

The LED light is designed to last for a very long time. It will be perfectly fine. I had a problem with my phone where the LED light was stuck on and it lasted for weeks until i got a replacement

  • How long will SAPRSEUJ run?

    Hi Guys,
Does anybody experience about this report? (EU_INIT batch job)
Can somebody explain how long will it run after a system installation?
(Other question: do we really need to run it after an installation?)
    Thank you in advance
    Balazs

    Hi Balazs,
see SAP Note 28022: "The report has a very long runtime and can run up to 100 hours (5 days)".
You can control the progress by SM37 job log which displays a line after every 1000 objects (more than 200.000 in total) and by SM50 process details (number of RFC calls in the bottom lines of the details)
I experienced that this job is very slow on VIRTUAL machines (Hyper-V host and machines with Microsoft Windows 2008 RTM as well as Microsoft Windows 2008 R2). Furthermore, when running very slow, this job often slows down all other system activities. As a workaround I scheduled a daily job EU_INIT starting in the evening, and every day in the morning I kill the job process in TA SM50 so that our developers can proceed with their work. This procedure lasts some weeks ...
Also pay attention to the different programs that are run by different EU_INIT-Jobs:
    SAPRSEUB for SAP Basis objects
    SAPRSEUC for Customer objects
    SAPRSEUI for Incremental changes
SAPRSEUT for objects changed after Transports
    Regards
