Best.

Allbyc, please re-read what I said in #2 above. You have misunderstood. The following is how the BBC and others do it.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/guidelines/dq/contents/television.shtml
This is an extract;
3.1.1 Stereo line-up tones
All stereo tracks must use EBU 1kHz tone (left ident). All tones must be sinusoidal, free of distortion and phase coherent between channels.
Digital Audio Reference level is defined as 18dB below the maximum coding value (-18dBFS) as per EBU recommended practice R68.
3.1.2 Stereo audio levels and measurement (loudness or volume)
Stereo programme audio levels are currently measured by Peak Programme Meters (PPM). The Maximum or Peak Programme Level must never exceed 8dBs above the programme’s reference level.

  • Does anyone know how to separate a movie track from an audio track on the new Mavericks Garage band. It used to be very easy on the iLife 11 version. If anyone could respond ASAP I'd be grateful. I need to make an audio file from a video.

    I urgently need to make some audio tracks from videos using the new 2013 GarageBand. In iLife11 Garageband, this was very easy. However, I cannot see how to do it in the new one. The alternative might be to revert to the iLife11 version, so does anyone know how to do this. It's extremely urgent since I need to produce these for a court custody hearing which will take place at 0800 GMT UK time on 31st October 2013. Please help.
    Thank you.

    When you drag a movie from the Media Browser to the Time lIne in GarageBand, you will see a pop-up "Extracting Audio".
    The Movie and the audio file will appear in separate tracks. You can copy the audio region from the sound track to a different track to keep it safe and then hide the Movie track.

  • Can you make an audio transition in Motion 5? If so, how?

    I remember before I upgraded to FCPX the previous version of Final Cut had audio transitions (a cross fade 0Db and a cross fade +3Db). I have not needed an audio transition in Final Cut until now and I couldn't find one in FCPX. So I set out to build one in Motion 5 (I have experience in creating my own generators and transitions in motion) but I could not seem to figure out how to work with audio. If someone could please give me some pointers or let me know if this is even possible that would be great. Thanks, Jobstevenson.

    Hi
    Motion is a graphics tool, and not designed to work with audio.
    You will want to look at the manual for FCPX to find out how to do audio dissolves. I'm guessingt he audio will need to be in a Storyline for you to beable to do this. The other wa is the have the audio as connected clips and simply add a fade up and and down to the clip end and start.

  • How to make an audio file on Dreamweaver not auto play?

    hi,
    ive been trying to make my audio file on dreamweaver not play when the webpage is opened.
    i have tired the 'autoplay, false' however this dosent seem to work for me. im using Dreamweaver CS6
    im hoping for some help as this is becoming frustrating!
    and i am using a music file which has been downloaded!

    At a minimum, you need MP3 and OGG audio files.  If you don't have them, use the online converter below: http://media.io/
    With an HTML5 doc type, your code should look like this:
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>HTML5 Audio Demo</title>
    <!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]-->
    </head>
    <body>
    <p>This works in all modern browsers. </p>
    <audio controls>
    <source src="path/yourSong.ogg" type="audio/ogg">
    <source src="path/yourSong.mp3" type="audio/mp3">
    <p>Your browser doesn't support audio.</p>
    </audio>
    </body>
    </html>

    This is what it is for. Save As doesn't change the behaviour of Autosave. All changes always get saved at all times. If you want to save as a new document, then do that. If you want to do a save as, just don't make any changes beforehand.
    Second problem is the load of internet pages! It is sooooo slow...
    Try a new DNS server such as OpenDNS. The ones your ISP gives you can be very bad.

  • How to match audio levels across tracks?

    I'm creating a CD of two-person conversations to use for language study--30 conversations in all. There are several different voice sources; all of them were recorded in a studio, though at different times and places, with small variations in audio levels.
    For each conversation, I start by putting each voice in its own track in the timeline. Then I go into the mixer to balance them. While playing the tracks, I check to make sure that the overall volume is just short of maxing out in the Out 1 channel strip; if the red peak indicator comes on, then I lower the volume slightly in the offending track. Once everything is OK, I go back into the timeline and use Export Mix to save the conversation. I go through this same procedure for each of the 30 conversations.
    I thought this would result in 30 tracks which have the same overall volume; however, when I burn these tracks to a CD and play them one after another, there is enough variation between tracks that I am forced to fiddle with the volume on the CD player.
    What's more, some of the tracks are a bit softer than I'd like. I want to be able to play the CD in a classroom and be sure that all students can hear it clearly. Yet, while I was mixing each track, I made sure to run the volume up as far as possible without causing clipping.
    So my question: Have I done something wrong? Is another step needed to get separate tracks to match levels? If so, is this done within Soundtrack, or is it done when burning to CD? And how does one get the tracks even louder without causing clipping?
    I'm quite new to audio work, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I just did a similar project, and I must agree that compression is your friend! It's also an art form. I recommend you search the web and find an introduction to the concept.
    You can think of it like this: You set a "threshold", and the compressor automatically reduces the volume of any part of the track gets louder than your threshold. This can have the effect of making the quiet parts of your track louder without letting the loud parts clip.
    Of course, there are trade-offs. Go too far, and you'll squash out all the dynamic range from your audio. Also, making the quiet parts louder means making the noise louder too!
    Play with it and see if it helps: Click on the "*" button on the track, and add the Soundtrack Pro Compressor effect. Click the "Advanced..." button for the effect, and click the "Show Presets" button. Under "User Presets, Vocal Compressors" you'll find some good starting points. Try them all and see what kind of effects you get.
    Once your tracks are balanced you can experiment with putting a single compressor on "Out 1". It can help you get the level of your whole mix up without inducing a bunch of clipping.
    Yo should also experiment with the "DeEsser" which helps take the edge of "sss" sounds, among other things. It might be very useful for your project. Take a look at the presets and listen to what they all do. If you use both DeEsser and Compressor, you should probably put the DeEsser first.
    When you play with effects, it's good to strive for moderation and to give your ears a break once in a while. Also a good idea to listen to your results on multiple speakers. It's easy to get carried away and make your audio sound very unnatural!
    Have fun!

  • How to remove audio keyframes after mix

    Hi,
    Early during editing I tried to make an audio mix with the music fader ('write' mode) and now it keeps all the old keyframes whatever I do whilst trying to make a new final mix. How do I get rid of my old mix? I tried to remove the whole music track but Premiere has a good memory ... too good! :-)
    Newly imported audio remembers the very first mix.
    Help! (yes, I'm a newby)
    Pieter

    Pieter,
    Normally, the Track Keyframes will be overwritten, when you do another session with the Audio Mixer. Not sure why your are not being overwritten, if your Send is set to Write, or Touch. Is that Audio Track Targeted in the Timeline?
    In the Timeline, go to the Track Header and toggle to View Track Keyframes. Then in that Track, lasso ALL Keyframes (do not know if Ctrl+A - Select All will function, but try that too), and just hit the Delete key. That should clear all Track Keyframes. Note: I am sure that you realize that these particular Keyframes are attached to the Track and not to the Clips. If this will not work, then just Copy/Move the Clips to another empty Track, and do another Audio Mixer session.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How can capture audio with labview

        I desired to make a audio equalizer vi using lab view. Audio will be taken from microphone. How can I capture sound from microphone with labview?

    See the example "Sound Card AutoPower Spectrum" This allows you to sample from an input device through your sound card, and take a spectrum.  you should be able to bin the spectrum by frequency bands, and show the histogram of frequencies.  You probably can even selectively resample and scale the frequencies, mix the signal and output the new sounds but I hav not tried this (I am not an audiophile so this is beyond my scope of expertise)  Good luck  ,

  • Bluetooth on the 4S only makes an audio connection

    I've paired the iPhone's Bluetooth with several devices (two Blackberries) and an Alienware M11x (W7 Ultimate 64 bit), The 4S' Bluetooth will make an audio connection, but I have not been able to determine how to send a file (Photo) from or to the 4S.
    Any ideas how I can coax the 4S to transfer photos via Bluetooth?

    To use the hotspot for any of those devices, I believe you have to switch to a postpaid account and plan. You can see the pricing for the available postpaid plans under the "Shop" area of the website.

  • Is there a way to make an audio clip not cover the whole project? I want to add audio clip or song and let it start at a certain point in the project. I'm working with iMovie on IPad!

    Is there a way to make an audio clip not cover the whole project in iMovie? I want to add audio clip or song and let it start at a certain point in the project. Whenever I add audio or song it covers the whole project. I'm working with iMovie on IPad!

    Thank you for your reply Karsten but unfortunately this didn't help me so far. Or maybe I'm missing something?
    First the link is a tutorial for iMovie on a Mac. I'm using iMovie on iPad so the steps are inapplicable.
    Second it is only possible for me to manipulate the end part of the sound clip to whichever duration I want. But I can't do the same with the 'beginning' of the sound clip.
    I simply want to place some photos in the beginning of my video with no sound in the background then after like 2 secs I want to start the music clip. For some reason that is not possible! Cause every time I drop the music clip unto my project timeline it automatically place it self along with the first frame in the project! And consequently the photos and music are forced to start together.
    Hope I'm making sense...

  • Is there a way to make the audio continue when the page is turned?

    Can I make the audio continue while a reader turns pages in iBook? With everything I've tried the music shuts off as soon as the page is turned. Thanks for any insight.

    Latest: Working in Pages actually seems to work for this! Place the audio file in Pages (drag and drop works just fine), make sure the audio is inline (not floating) export Pages to ePub and run the Book Proofer . . .  once you click to start the audio, the audio plays until the end, regardless of where you are in the book, it keeps playing. Minor victory because you loose a bit of the layout features that iBook Author has, but the audio now functions the way I was hoping.
