How make things invisible in iMovie?

I want myself to disappear in a video in iMovie. So its like I am dancing and then suddenly I am gone like a ghost. Can this be done? If so then how do I this? Please help.
Thank you.

The easy way to do it is to shoot the scene twice. Once with you in it and once without you.
Then use a fade transits ion to dislove between the two and you will seem to disappear.
It's important that you camera is locked off so that it doesn't move between the two scenes.
Of course, if you have other people or moving objects in the scene, it's more complicated.

You can make files or folders invisible from the Terminal. Enter the following command:
    chflags hidden
Don't press enter yet. Put a space after the the word hidden and then drag and drop the item you want to hide into the Terminal window. Now press enter. The item will disappear from view.
You'd better copy that path down though, because if you want to unhide it, you need to know the full path and file or folder name.
As a test, I did one as:
    chflags hidden /Users/myaccount/Desktop/test.tif
This of course is a file named test.tif sitting on the desktop of my user account. Upon hitting enter, it disappeared. To get it back, you unhide it:
    chflags nohidden /Users/myaccount/Desktop/test.tif
The item will reappear. You can see where it would be very important to have that entire path written down. If you forget the name or where it is, you'll be lucky to find it by guessing. It's either that, or you'll have to use the trick to show hidden and system files. Then you'll be able to see the hidden item you're dragging and dropping item into Terminal to unhide it.

  • Can you use imovie's green screen feature to make things invisible?

    Hi,
i have a GoPro, and am making a mount that will give me a 3rd person view while i snowboard.
Like this: https://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/000/333/633/7ac3cbc3da3b7b2c948f36e6018ea460 _large.png?1357825021 (but home made)
However, the tube will be in video, it would be great if i could edit it out...
I was hoping that i could paint the arm of the mount green, and use the green screen function to edit it out in post. like the skate boards in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=654lUYIhYk0
I have looked around online, and it seems that the green screen function in iMovie sems limited to just backgrounds...
    Any advice?

    Excuse the delay in replying...
Excellent! - thanks for that xnav
It work even with the delay set to 0.0 on the iPhone Simulator, but not sure about on an iPhone though.
I think I need to read up about @selector and the performSelector instance method.
I found today another possible solution (but have not tried it out though):

I'm trying to make a slideshow in iMovie, but when I upload photos from my Aperture Library into the iMovie Photo Browser, some photos (305 out of 427) are missing. How do I get iMovie to upload all of them?

I have same problem. I could only see a fraction of my project photos if I browse the Aperture lbrary. It is the same problem when I sync the aperture photos to my iPhone or iPad. I still cannot solve it but I know a way to go around it for your iMovie to see the pictures so that you can work on your iMovie.
    Here is the work around:
Export the photos from your album to your hard disk and re-import into your iPhoto. Now you should be able to see those photos that you want to work on in iMovie when you browse your iPhot library.

  • HT1386 How do I copy music from an old iPod?  Why do you have to make things so difficult?  These are my files that I paid for but once I put them on your devices, I no longer have control over them.  I've wasted so much time on these stupid problems.

Thanks, Deggie. I thought Apple would see my feedback.  I would just like to know if there is a simple way to copy just a few music files from an old iPod.  I saw instructions on how to copy all of them from the iPod but it was complicated and I really didn't want to copy all the songs.  I guess I could delete all the songs but the ones I want to copy then go through that process again.  Do you know how to back up music to my computer?  I don't want to have to go through this again and possibly lose music.

  • How do I make Smart Quotes in iMovie 11

I'm trying to make a title in iMovie 11 and don't see a way to make "smart" (typographers) quotes. Anyone know how?

You use the keyboard modifiers thusly:
    Open Double-quote: Option + Left Bracket ( [ )
    Close Double-quote: Option + Shift + Left Bracket ( [ )
Check out the smart quotes, in the third line in the screenshot.

  • /Volumes is now visible. How do I make it invisible????

    Simple question...
/Volumes is now visible. I don't understand why. But anyway...
How do I make it invisible????
    Thanks

This has happened many times before and a poster, Kappy, gave a great answer. I like saving particularly good/important posts for references later on.
This one was given by Kappy and I take no credit for the good advice. If he posts here and it has solved your problem please give him the "answered" post.
    Here it is:
Open your Terminal app (Utilities folder) and at the prompt enter the following lines pressing return at the end of each line. Comments will be indented:
    prompt> cd /
    prompt> sudo pico .hidden
You will be asked to enter your admin password. It will not be echoed.
The editor will open the .hidden file for editing. Enter the filename or foldername of each item you want hidden - one entry per line. When you are finished press CONTROL-X. You will be asked if you want to save the file. Enter "y" (Yes) and press return. You will be asked for the filename to save or use .hidden. Simply press return to save the file and exit the editor. You will be returned to the prompt.
    prompt> cat .hidden
Will list the contents of the file to the Terminal window. This will verify that what you did worked correctly.
You can now quit the Terminal. On your next restart the offending files and folders will now be hidden as they should be.
The .hidden file contains no pathnames, just the file or folder. For example, mine reads as follows:
    SDKDesktop:/ skapplin$ cat .hidden
    etc
    tmp
    var
    SDKDesktop:/ skapplin$

  • How to make things fly without a greenscreen in Motion 5

How to make things fly without a greenscreen in Motion 5

green-screen = color-key is just one method to 'punch out' the wanted parts of a pic from the unwanted.
    other methods:
    • luma-key: object is in front of a plain black (or white) background ...
    • alpha-key: 'object' is a computer-generated image, rendered with an alpha-key
    • rotoscoping: you mask the the object by hand from the unwanted parts.
...and 'fly' is just key-framing the scenery so it looks like the object is hovering over all .........
    very unspecific question, hm?

  • How to make jButton invisible but workable in Eclipse Visual Editor

SOS, to all Programmers, thx for your attention i recently encounter a problem when i do my codings in eclipse visual editor, i can;t seem to make my jButton invisible, i plan to
insert image then put jButton over them, make them invisible so i can just click the image and go elsewhere (E.g. a pop up box or link), but i try all ways and it can't work, plz spot the solution for me. thanks in advance.

You can't click an invisible button, so you'll have to put the image on the button (as icon) or add a MouseListener to whatever component you're using to show the image.

  • Onyx to make .ds_Store invisible

Like others I have a file (.DS_Store) visible on my desktop that is just sorta annoying. From reading other posts I know this is an important file and I don't want to hose up my system. Someone suggested making the file invisible using Onyx but the thread does not explain how to use Onyx to do so.
I downloaded the latest version of Onyx. Can anyone provide guidance on how to use it to make .DS_Store invisible? If this is a bad idea for a newbie Mac user to be dabbling in just say so and I can live with .DS_Store on my desktop.

.DS_Store files aren't important system files, they're files made by Finder that keep track of window and icon positions for the folder the .DS_Store file is in. Feel free to delete them, the worst thing that could happen is your desktop icons reset their positions. They reappear anyway, with default icon/window settings (I'm STILL trying to make some kind of script that deletes all .DS_Store files because of all my messed up window sizes and positions )
Anyway, open up OnyX (click Cancel for the Verifying Startup Volume popup), type in your password, click Parameters, then Finder, and uncheck "Show hidden files and folders".

  • Possible to make faces invisible?

    Good luck in 2012.

  • How to delete invisible file created by iPhoto

I use MacBook and keep my iPhoto library on external hard drive. External disk got disconnected accidentally and I was requested to import the library again.
I imported library from my external drive but the file created by iPhoto is not visible and I cannot find it either in folder Pictures or using Spotlight. However, I can see that available space on my MacBook hard drive is reduced for 10GB, which is actually the size of my iPhoto library.
Any suggestion how to find invisible file created by iPhoto and delete it from the hard disk on my computer? Many thanks for your help.
    Haris
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Do a Spotlight search for "Library6.iPhoto" on your boot drive and that will tell you where the iPhoto LIbrary is hiding.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How can I move my iMovie app to "purchased" in my appstore account???

how can I move my iMovie app to "purchased" in my appstore account???

I would not recommend that you move iMovie files to the Time Capsule. You will not get sufficient performance for editing. For this reason, iMovie does not show the Time Capsule as an attached drive within iMovie.
If you move these files using the Finder, you will likely make the projects unusable, because the links between the projects and events will be broken.
Use a locally attached external hard drive tha is formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled).
See this User Tip for how to move the Events and Projects to a locally attached drive. (By locally attached, I mean a drive that is attached to your Mac via USB, Firewire, or Thunderbolt cables.)

  • How do I transfer my iMovie to a DVD on a pc?

    Hi,
I made a movie on iMovie and would like to transfer it to a DVD so I can give it as a gift to my friend but I can't figure it out. I have a PC, not sure if this makes things more difficult but I do know people with Macs if need be. I don't need the video to be fancy, I didn't edit the clips just put them all together in one. Is there a way to do this without spending a fortune? I dont plan to do this often...or can I bring it to somewhere to have them do it??

What version of iMovie are you using?  I'm basing my responses on '09 (rev.8.0.6).  Looking at some posts, if it's '11 (rev. 8.0.7+) then you may be able to send it to iTunes and then covert it to MP4 format.
