How many AP will wlc 5508 support in HREAP Groups?

Hi,
I have a new deployment of 44 3502i AP's in 3 buildings at one of my campus'.
The 5508 wlc is running latest 7.0.116.0 code.
I have some users who take their work with them as they go from location to location on this campus.
They need to be able to smoothly switch from AP to AP without having to reauthenticate each time the next AP takes over in the handoff.
On the ssid in question we run 802.1x back to 1 auth server; there is no failover auth server.
All APs are in one AP Group.
My thought is to add all 44 of the APs to one HREAP Group.
Will this be the best/simplest solution?
Thank you

Scott,
Thanks!
I thought hreap groups had a hard limit but I could not remember and I did not find the document when I went looking.
That was exactly my question, how many APs can be in an hreap group.
Since I have 44 APs I will probably break it into 2 hreap groups. The office group and the DC group.

Of course. In the case of the iPad and iPhone, it might depend on the iOS version they are running, but they should be able to sync with iTunes without any issue

  • How many users can 1 Xserve support?

I have one Xserve (10.5.2, 2x3GHz, 5GB RAM, 1.34TB RAID 5) that I want to support the following services for my SMB:
    DNS, DHCP
    AFP, NFS, SMB
    Open Directory
    Print
    Software Update
I also want to have mobile sync'd network home folders, but only for ~/Documents and iCals and Address Books (I don't want everyone's MP3s or family photos).
I occasionally will use NetBoot/NetInstall, but only 1-2 users at once.
I am getting ready to migrate my company to OpenDirectory and 10.5.2 for all users and was hoping someone here might be able to tell me how many users I can reasonably support with one Xserve.
Also, is it a bad idea to have everyone using "mobile" accounts? It seems like it would be less strain on the server to have the occasional sync from users than everyone reading & writing all the time. Also, if anything happened, there would be a local copy and a remote copy of any files.
    Thanks.

    Rosemarie,
BeehiveOnline currently supports 95,000 users and we have groups on the system as large as 10,000, that is probably about as big as we want to go - remember collaborating with 10,000 users is not an effective way of working - maybe a more open way of delivering content may be more appropriate. Given that the only issues we have with very large groups is the time it takes to run and the email traffic it generates as the large group are processed.
So it is possible to host 10,000 in a group but we need to be warned in advance and work with you to minimise the impact as the group is set up.

  • How many 7920 phones can be supported on one Cisco 1131AG access point?

    hi all,
who knows that how many 7920 phones can be supported on one 1131ag AP? Thanks a lot...

    Hi Alomar,
    Hopefully this info will help;
Number of 802.11b Phones per AP
Before any discussion about network planning can take place, it helps to understand the basics of the overall network capacity.
The following network capacity guidelines apply to sizing the Wireless IP Telephony network:
No more than 7 concurrent G.711 calls per AP.
No more than 8 concurrent G.729 calls per AP.
Note These design recommendations assume that Voice Activity Detection (VAD) has been disabled on the Cisco 7920 Wireless IP Phones. Use of VAD on the Cisco 7920 phones can conserve bandwidth, but Cisco recommends that you disable VAD on all Cisco CallManager servers to provide better overall voice quality.
In addition to determining how much bandwidth is needed for an 802.11b VoIP call, you must also consider overall radio contention for a particular RF channel. The general rule is that you should not deploy any more than 20 to 25 802.11b endpoints per AP. The more endpoints you add to an AP, the more you reduce the amount of overall bandwidth and potentially increase transmission delays.
The maximum number of phones per AP depends on the calling patterns of individual users (based on Erlang ratios). Cisco recommends no more than 7 concurrent calls using G.711 or 8 concurrent calls using G.729. Beyond that number of calls, when excessive background data is present, the voice quality of all calls becomes unacceptable.

    Hope this helps!

  • How many rows will be allowed in Cusom Section?

how many rows will be allowed in Cusom Section? can I modify the max rows setting?

I think the hardcoded limit in Admin is 250.  However, I don't think 250 active rows in a single custom section on a specification would perform very well.  I would try not to exceed 30 active rows per section per specification.  Performance involves so many variables, it will depend on the type of extended attributes you have used in each cell.   For example, if you had one section with 10 columns and 30 rows and every cell had 15 radio button choices the section would take quite a while to render.   If helpful, you can always submit your custom section designs to support and we can review it for any potential gotchas.
    Thanks

  • How many years will my PowerBookG4 still work?

I Have a 2001 PowerBookG4. The battery is dead, but it works with the charger. I'm wondering. How many years will it still work? What can I do to help? It's really old, and I won't lose it =\. Thanks.

My 2003 PowerBook G4 1Ghz  is still working flawlessly. I treated to to a new battery about a years ago.
A friend has three circa 1998 PowerBook G3 "Wallstreets" that he uses every day. All three are running Panther 10.3.9 with the help of XPostfacto. I upgraded the hard drives to more modern 5400 rpm drives of 40 and 60G, and maxed the RAM on two to 512MB. They won't die.
With care, it's likely that you'll run out of software support before the hardware caves. That;s what my Wallstreet friends is discovering.

  • Report execute time nd how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?

Is there any way to know how long the report executes and how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?
    Regards
    Prasad

To know if the report is going to return more than 10,000 records, you first have to run the query with a 'select count(1) from ... where ...' (with the same from and where clauses as you normal query). Since this takes about the same time as runnng your report, I wonder if you really gain anything (although formatting may take some time too).
You may simplify the select count(1) query by omitting all the lookup tables that are only needed for formatting. That way your query may run a lot faster. You can put this in your after parameter form trigger.

  • How many items will overflow in FI-SL Deltaqueue?

    Hi,experts:
        As to SAP note
"If the Delta method has been initialized for a source system, a Delta upload must be scheduled regularly so that the Deltaqueue will not overflow. If you want to stop the Delta method, you should also delete initialization."
Then I have a question that how many items will overflow or how to calculate the maximum records?
    Best Regards
    Martin Xie

    Hi,
In case of FI-SL the delta queue is not used so its not possible to count the number of records.
an SAP program-internal limit ensures that no more than 1 million LUWs are ever read and fetched from the database per delta request.
But even the LUW's can be a one document or many documnets bundled together.
So its defentely a multiple of million but its defenately not possible to count the number of records but you can make an assumption based on memory.
    Thanks

  • How many situation will Aggregate Error occurs in Content Services?

    Hi
while uploading files into content services its giving Aggregare error ?
but no category, have the full access and no exceeds to library quota?
how many situalltion will aggregate error occurs in content services while uploading?
how can i resolve this problem in content services.
    Thanks in Advance

Typically aggregate errors are thrown for Bulk operations. A bulk operation is one where you tend to operate on multiple items (Folder, Documents) at a time. FileManager.createDocuments() , FileManager.delete(list of docs) are examples of this.

  • How many airport express can be supported by software remote at one time.

how many airport express can be supported by software remote at one time?
I mean remote software can control at one time

Well Apple makes an iOS application called 'Remote' it's used to control iTunes on a Mac, Or to control an Apple TV Multimedia features.
Apple also makes "AirPort Utility" for iOS. Airport Utility can be used to configure Aiport Extrem, Airport Express And Time Capsul using an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. You can use it to connect to one device at a time. While connected to the device you can configure it to work as part of a larger Airport network. If you want to configure muliple device, you would connect to one device,  configure it,  And then connect to the next device, and configure it, and so on and so fourth.
    I haven't found a limit.
How big of a network are you trying to make?

  • How many luns does mac OSX support from a single target (array) is it 255??

How many luns does mac OSX support from a single target (array) is it 255?
For example, if using the Dual-channel 4Gb Fibre Channel PCI Express card?  Is it 255, 512 or higher?  I know it uses the ATTO driver, but I can't find any documentaiton about the upper limits of how many luns this HBA can address from a single target array on a SAN.  Thanks.

    Hi,
The card should be an ATTO 42ES whcih supports 255 LUNS per channel
Here's the info from the attached link
Consider the following Celerity FC host adapter guidelines:
    • ATTO 4-Gb and 8-Gb FC cards (PCI-X and PCIe only) are supported. • Latest HP-specific ATTO Celerity FC host adapter driver • Latest HP-specific ATTO Configuration Tool • A maximum of 256 targets per host adapter channel are supported. • A maximum of 255 logical unit numbers (LUNs) per host adapter channel are supported. • PowerPC- and Intel-based servers are supported.
