I really like the service in just about every way except one. You pride yourself on saying you now have better access, and now you show a new phone that supposedly works in all kind of conditions which makes me wonder that if I purchase it will the bars be any better. I have had ATT forever and in my home I continually get ONE BAR OR LESS. Dropped calls missed calls and calls that continually has bad clarity. I keep hoping for ATT to make a better signal in my area. Is there any way I can get a better SIGNAL

How many bars after 2.1 update?

Here's my story:
I bought an iPhone 3G shortly after it came out. I was very happy with it but it got horrible reception on 3G mode. I went and checked the att coverage map and I was supposed to have perfect 3G coverage, however I only had 1 bar. So after a few days of having a 3G phone that doesn't use 3G, I decided to return it and re activate my original iPhone. My question to all of you iPhone 3G owners is, has the 2.1 software update fixed the reception issue or is it still not working? If it is TRULY fixed, I will definitely buy another one.

Since updating my phone to the new 2.1 Firmware I have been seeing my phone at full bars which I normally don't see on a regulars bases like I do now but if I am having full bars why am I having connectivity issues like when I am talking on the phone it is constantly breaking up almost to the point it sounds like a blown speaker and when I send a SMS it pauses at the end of the loading box for about a minutes before the messages is completely sent. These 2 issues I have never experienced until right after the install of the new 2.1 Firmware

Change how many % does the up/down volume button jump

Hello!
I know that this question isn't very important nor many people have thought of that issue.. but I find it a little bit irretating.
So..my question is : Are there settings (if yes - where are located) for adjusting how many bars does the volume change when pressed the up/down volume button. For example when I press the up/down volume button the volume raises or decreases with 2 % from the 100 % maximum.I would like to change it to lets say 10 % ..
The model of my laptop is A500-1C0.I am sure that this function though (if it exist) could be reached in the same way on many other models.My operating system is Windows 7 Home.

Realised on the way home last night that the radio presets would be stored in the MuVo2 and not the FM remote so no battery in the FM remote.
And yes my guess would be that the button cell would be for when there is no AC power and no LiIon battery installed.
Maybe it's a smilar deal to the flat cell battery on PC motherboards.
Can last years.

EDGE being used in 3G area. How many other people see this??

I'm just trying to get a feel for how many other people see this.
In the last 6 weeks or so, twice my phone has switched from 3G to EDGE when i'm in a strong 3G area. Yesterday it did it just as I was leaving work and my iPhone stayed on EDGE all the way back home, when I know that the area in question is fully covered by 3G (and my iPhone normally says 3G). Later at home I went to use the phone and noticed it had finally switched back to 3G instead of EDGE.
Is this an area issue with AT&T getting overloaded? Is this a bug in the iPhone software? Anybody else experience this periodically?

First off, it could either be an issue with AT&T's network being overloaded so it switched you to Edge, or it could be a bug in the iPhone software.
Second, are you measuring the signal strength by how many bars the iPhone shows or by the dbm numbers? The dbm numbers show the actual signal strength and the bars don't. The iPhone could have a horrible signal and still show you 3-5 bars. To see the actual dbm numbers, you have to go into the phone feature and type in "star12345#3001#star" and hit send (be sure to place the * in place of the word star). Once you do that you will enter test mode and you will notice that there are numbers in the top left instead of the bars. The numbers range from (this is not the exact range because I don't know) -55 to -117. The lower the number the stronger signal you have, once you start hitting -100 your signal is getting pretty weak. If you want to continually be able to see the dbm numbers you have to force quit out of the field test mode. If you are on 3.x firmware you have to hold the sleep button until the power off slider appears, let go of the sleep button and then hold down the home button. Once the app closes you can now tap on the top left and switch between bars and dbm numbers.

How many times can you resend an iTunes Gift Card?

Tried sending an iTunes gift card to a @facebook account but the recipient hasn't received it.
Is it possible to send to another of their @facebook accounts and if that also fails then to a conventional account?

When I go to a website, it takes me to a different one. No matter how many times I open it, it takes me to random sites.

If I open a page in a tab it will take me to a completely different site, and no matter how many times I try to close and open a new one, it keeps going to different sites. It also happens when I type the website into the address bar, it still takes me to a random site. Is it something with my computer, or is it Firefox, and if it is a problem with Firefox, how do I fix it?

How many times do I bring my iphone in to be replaced before they give me a new one

I brought my iPhone in this past February to get it replaced, hardware problem. Then again in March because the screen kept freezing and wouldn't unlock, they replaced it then as well. Now, my phone shuts off on it's own, and the only way to turn it back on is a hard reset, EVERY time. They keep giving me refurbished phones and every one has something go wrong with it. You need to speak with Apple about this... nothing anyone here can do about that or answer your question. Make an appointment at the Genius bar and tell them exaclty what you posted here. Politely escalate it if necessary.

How much RAM do tab groups use (on average)? Do I need to watch out for how many groups I create?

I may have gone overboard in the creation of Tab Groups. I say this because now my system is beginning to act a bit sluggish. I created 7 groups, two of which have 9 or 10 tabs. Should I pull back on the number of groups I create (as well as how many tab are located within each group). That is: How much RAM do tab groups use. How can I calibrate or understand the trade off between these markers and the amount of RAM they use?

How many years can I expect to get out of a MBP?

I'm considering an Apple laptop. Being a graphics professional, I think I want to go with the MPB so I can run the Adobe CS4 Suite (et. al.) while away from my desk.
How many years of useful life should I expect to get (or plan to get) from a laptop? Barring any hardware failures or accidents, can I expect it to reasonably run CS4(+), OS10.5(+), font manager, etc., and connect to the internet etc. for say, 4-5 years? What's reasonable for a laptop's useful life?
Would I want to purchase the fastest processor(s) and biggest HD in the MBP? I'm thinking the 15-inch 2.66Ghz, 250G 7200rpm HD. Heck, my G5 only has 150G on its HD, and the dual 2Ghz non-Intel chip. Purchased in '04, it seems to still have quite a bit of life to it.

As eww so rightly points out in his reply, I guess I have to decide if I want the latest-greatest on my laptop, or can I live with using versions that the computer can handle. And, do I shell it out for the fastest/baddest, or will I get the same longevity (or lack) with the middle of the road machine.
For my professional software, my strategy has been to upgrade every other time, unless there's some new feature that will make my life absolutely heavenly. It seems like Adobe is slinging out the new versions faster than my budget can handle. Last summer I finally updated to the latest from Office v.X. And the only reason I did that is because my clients have been sending me text files in the latest Win versions of Office (docx and pptx) that I couldn't open. (And it's not good customer service to ask them to save them as txt files and resend.)
Typical scenario:
On my G5 I'm still using Tiger because I'm too cheap to buy the upgrade. (Every time I upgrade my OS I lose something--printer drivers, favorite features in my browser, font manager compatibility, whatever, there's always something I else need to upgrade besides the OS, always.)
Although I'm running Adobe CS3, I have the CS4 suite. CS4 will run on 10.4.11, but the font manager's auto-activation doohickey (which I would have to buy) for CS4's apps only works with OS10.5. So things potentially could get expensive. The only reason I have CS4 is because I bought CS3 a week before CS4 came out. The font manager (Suitcase) is really a lifesaver, and therefore it's pretty necessary. STOP the madness! LOL! (There's another font manager out there that is pretty good and cheaper, so that may be an option.)
Okay, I'm babbling now. I appreciate your wise words to guide my thinking. Time to get nose to grindstone so I can afford that nifty laptop!

I have a program in which i am creating a cursor and passing it to another procedure as an input parameter. But the count of cursor query is more than 15 Lakhs. The program is running forever.
Just wanted to know whether the huge data is the problem.

Now multiply that waiting for I/O time with a million - for a million rows. Or by a billion, for a billion rows.
Is "+huge data+" a problem? Not really - it simple needs more work to get that amount of data from disk. More work means slower performance. It is that simple.
Which is why the row-by-row approach used by many developers is wrong. You do not pull a million rows from disk and process it in PL/SQL or Java or .Net. Heck, you do not even pull 10,000 rows like that.
The correct approach is to think data sets and use SQL to process that for you - and only return the bare minimum of data to the application layer. Maximize SQL. Minimize PL/SQL and Java and .Net.

You can also turn on the menu bar with ctrl b or press alt to make it show on a temporary basis. View > Show Status Bar should make it display.
