How many broken pixels are required before apple fixes my screen?

My macbook pro with retina is under a year old and seems to have 4 broken pixels. I do not understand how this happened as I am very careful with it. How many pixels need to be broken before apple takes my laptop and fixes it? Also if they take my computer, how long will it be gone for and do I get some kind of replacement?

It can take overnight to a little over a week, depending on the Store you go to and whether parts are immediately available. You do not get a "loaner". If a repair is arranged, you may be able to defer the repair until parts are available.
It depends on how they are stuck (white, black, or color) and how close together they are. There are complex formulas used in the evaluation.
Your appointment at the genius Bar at an Apple Store for an evaluation is FREE, in warranty or out. Apple Authorized Service Providers may have different policies.

  • Camera has how many mega pixels

IPad 2 camera function has how many mega pixels?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Full iPad 2 specs are listed here:  http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
The front-facing camera is 'VGA quality' That term is a throwback to the 1987 IBM PS2 (Personal System 2, not PlayStation2) video standard, or 640 x 480 pixels = 307,200 pixels or .3 megapixels.
    The rear-facing camera is '720p', which translates to 1280 x 720 pixels, or 921600 pixels, .92 megapixels.

  • How many itunes accounts are allowed per computer?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle configuring all 80 of the iPads my business is purchasing.  I know there is a limit of 10 devices per iTunes account.  How many iTunes accounts are permitted per computer? I tried to just create 8 apple ids, which I was able to do online.  But when I try to sign in to those on iTunes, once I get to the part where I verify with a credit card, I can not get past the 3rd one. I have previously signed in with 2 other accounts on my machine, so I'm wondering if there is a limit of 5 accounts per computer.  Can anyone verify?  If that's true, what suggestions do you have for how to get around or best manage this situation?
I'm not as much of a techie as I should be.. but thanks in advance for your help!!

    Hi allisonwfrom nc,
The limit you are referring to is for a single personal Apple ID (not for multiple users) that is allowed to be associated with a total of 10 devices (up to 5 computers and the rest on iOS devices). Example you can have 5 computers and 5 iOS devices, 3 computers and 7 iOS devices, but not 6 computers and 4 iOS devices.
    From http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#SERVICE
Association of Associated Devices is subject to the following terms:
    i) You may auto-download iTunes Auto-Delivery Content or download previously-purchased iTunes Eligible Content from an Account on up to 10 Associated Devices, provided no more than 5 are iTunes-authorized computers.
Again this is for a single user. For multiple users like in schools or businesses you need to use VPP to purchase multiple licenses. http://www.apple.com/business/vpp/
    APP STORE PRODUCT USAGE RULES
( i )If you are an individual acting in your personal capacity, you may download and sync an App Store Product for personal, noncommercial use on any iOS Device you own or control.
( ii ) If you are a commercial enterprise or educational institution, you may download and sync an App Store Product for use by either (a) a single individual on one or more iOS Devices used by that individual that you own or control or (b) multiple individuals, on a single shared iOS Device you own or control. For example, a single employee may use an App Store Product on both the employee's iPhone and iPad, or multiple students may serially use an App Store Product on a single iPad located at a resource center or library. For the sake of clarity, each iOS Device used serially by multiple users requires a separate license.
If you are an educational institution or business you will want to enroll in Apple's Volume Purchase Program (VPP) which allows a single Apple ID to purchase multiple licenses of an app.
There is a free OS X program called Apple Configurator that you can use to distribute the VPP codes to your fleet of iPads. Apple Configurator uses a single Apple ID to install apps on your iPads. Configurator will also allow you to install free apps on multiple iPads using a single Apple ID.
There are a few things I recommend you do to get started:
First I would watch the iOS Deployment Model Videos on the left side of this page:
    http://www.apple.com/education/resources/information-technology.html
Then I recommend you read through these two guides:
    iOS 6 Education Deployment Guide
    http://images.apple.com/education/docs/ios_6_education_deployment_guide.pdf
    Apple Configurator Help Guide
    http://help.apple.com/configurator/mac/1.0/
This will give you a solid foundation for managing iPads with Apple Configurator. Once you read through these guides you will likely have more specific questions that you can post to these forums.
    Hope this answers your question!

  • How many cooling fans are in 13" MacBook Pro retina?

I just got a late 2013 13" MacBook Pro with retina display and I'm wondering how many cooling fans are in the machine. I've noticed when I use iTunes to play music/movies or use the iTunes visualizer, it gets hot. I've seen the videos on the retinas and I've notived that the 15" model  has two and I can't find any videos or pictures indicating whether the 13" has one or two. I know that the openings on the side are to bring in air and then pushes it out where the screen and the keyboard meet. I notice a lot of hot air coming out more towards the right of the machine than the left. I had a mid 2012 non-retina Pro but I had it replaced as it had too many issues and I know when I used it, it didn't get as hot when I did this stuff. I'm just making sure in case it's an issue, even thought I got this new MacBook on Monday 6/9/14. I'm also guessing it heats up faster since its a smaller machine and the components are a lot closer. And I understand that playing games or doing something that requires a lot of processing or graphics power will cause the machine to heat up since it's requiring so much from the machine. Like I said, I want to avoid having issues with this one. My last MacBook had three logic boards, two hard drives, hard drive cable, hard drive bracket, and clam shell replaced in less than a year of purchase in September 2013. When the hard drive crashed last week for no apparent reason last week, I took it to Apple on Monday this week and they finally made the choice to replace it completely and I upgraded to a retina just by paying the difference.

This is my mac's info. I got it as a gift from australia. Initial 3 months it gave me a superb service, but recently it's having a major overheating issue,it shoots up up to 87 degrees. Is it possible that any other components are damaged somehow? Usually the temperature shoots up while I play online streamings.

  • How many devices do you test before releasing your iphone app

    Hi,
Just want to get an idea about how many devices do you test before releasing your iphone app. I am currently developing on iphone 2.5G. Do I need to test my app on iphone 3G and ipod touch? Are there any difference? My app does not depends on network speed.
    thanks,
    ff

It's not a bad idea to test on whatever you can but it's not necessarily required. You do have to make sure you're not doing anything that can't be done on all devices. (i.e. access camera in Touch, assume GPS, etc)

  • I'm a school tech coordinator. Many computers and many iPads. How many Apple IDs can I have per device, and how many devices can have the same Apple ID? To make my life easier, I'd like 200 devices to all use the same Apple ID.

I'm a school tech coordinator. I have many computers and many iPads. I apologize if there is a some place that has all the rules governing the use of Apple IDs. I looked, and I even tried to get the answers from multiple Apple rep's. I couldn't find the answers.
How many Apple IDs can I have per device?
I want to use the same computer to sync and backup many iOS devices. The iOS devices would be associated with different Apple IDs.
I may load apps under a school Apple ID and have users load their own apps under thier own ID.
How many devices can have the same Apple ID?
Can I use the same Apple ID on all the computers in a lab?
Can I use the same Apple ID on all iPads for a particular grade level?
Are the rules different for iOS devices and computers?
I know that there are limits on "authorize" and "de-authorize" and how frequently those things can be done.
Recently I heard that for the life of an iOS device, it can only be associated with five Apple IDs. That is not good for a school giving iPads to students in a 1:1
To make my life easier, I'd like 200 devices to all use the same Apple ID.

  • Report execute time nd how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?

    Post Author: Prasad15
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
Is there any way to know how long the report executes and how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?
    Regards
    Prasad

To know if the report is going to return more than 10,000 records, you first have to run the query with a 'select count(1) from ... where ...' (with the same from and where clauses as you normal query). Since this takes about the same time as runnng your report, I wonder if you really gain anything (although formatting may take some time too).
You may simplify the select count(1) query by omitting all the lookup tables that are only needed for formatting. That way your query may run a lot faster. You can put this in your after parameter form trigger.

  • How many faces (people) are recommended to "teach" iPhoto '11?

I love this feature, however, I don´t know how many faces (people) are recommended to teach it... I started to tag every single person I knew in my Library, not just my family and close friends, but EVERYONE, even those who I only met once or twice a year... suddenly, I had a really big "Faces" section and I started to concern if this was "healthy" for the programm. So, the question is, Is it OK to teach iPhoto to recognize every single person I know? Or should I just let it "learn" to recognize the closest to me?, Is there an ideal number of people for the Programm to recognize? Thanks in advance for your support!!!!

I don't think anyone outside of Apple can really answer this.  But, IMHO, there is no need to include *everyone* in your faces group, just those you want to find later.

  • Up to how many CPU sockets are supported by the Windows Server Technical Preview?

I hope that all of a server's physical sockets are detected so that every core is usable by the operating system.

I have a situtation that I need to order a new server
for a new application getting developed?
I have the idea of no of users will be working on
    them will be around 100
How will I decide Server with How many CPU do I
    require?
and how much the amount fo physical memory should I
    order with the Server?
Which are the factore affecting them and how will I
    decide on them?
Is there any note given by oracle?Sounds like you need to start at the beginning with some of
Tom Kyte's books, the Oracle documentation &c.
You must have some idea of the throughput of your system.
If you are going to be using tons of I/O, then CPU might be
irrelevant, but you'd damn sure want the disk (array)(s) to
    be up to scratch,
    on the other hand,
if you are going to be doing lots of calculating/processing, then
    your CPU might be critical.
It's a question only you can really answer.
Post a more detailled spec here, along with a budget*
and you may receive more assistance.
    Rgs.
    Paul...
    * budget is normally very very important also...
We could tell you to buy two (one backup) HP-UX boxes
with 16-way SMP capacity and a 10TB 100 disk SAN, with,
oh, say, 10 disk controllers, but that's
not much use if your budget is... ahem... constrained.

  • Recent Contacts - How many email addresses are kept?

How many email addresses are kept on the recent contacts list? Can't find this listed anywhere.

I assume you are referring to it physically putting another separate contact in Address Book, and not the autofill list when typing an address into a new message window.
Mail does not have an option to add addresses from email to the address book automatically. The fact that you say it happens with the Exchange account and not the other accounts indicates that it's an exchange account problem.
Are you syncing the exchange account contact list with apple's address book? If so, you might take another look to the exchange account for something there.

  • How Many of You are Willing?

How many of you are willing to line up at the stores like we did for the launch to demand justice?
Frankly, I'd be encouraged to see people actually get off the 'net and go out on the streets. Me? I'll save my shoes for things like:
    Stopping a war on Iran.
Actually voting so that massive vote fraud does not matter.
Changing fund policy so the dollar does not collapse, so we'll still be able to buy cool gadgets manufactued in China.
Making sure there is no draft so my son does not go to war.
Ensuring that executive orders don't suspend government in the event of another terrorist attack.
Am I loosing perspective here? I consider myself lucky, if not a bit foolish, to have been able to get an iPhone on day zero.
I still want a credit, but is this the only thing that gets us mad enough these days?
Ok, back to your regularly scheduled support forum.

Please tell me that there are others who touch their phone and feel somewhat dirty, but very priviledged and are willing to see things for what they are.
Oh, and please tell me Apple has a strategy for allowing me to develop legit 3rd party apps too.
And the credit thing too. So I can buy more Apple stuff and feel good about it.
(wow, am I shallow or what?)

  • How many devices can sync to one apple ID?

How many devices can sync to one apple ID?  I need to get all my music from an old computer to my new computer.  I just purchased an album on my new computer and it's not syncing with my iPhone 5 and I don't want to pay $25 for the Cloud.

You can sync as many idevices as you like to one computer/library
The iphone will sync with one and only one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content fro the iphone.

  • How many updates can be released before I can no longer update??

I am on iOS 6.1.3 and do not want to update to iOS 7 because I don't like it. My friend has an iPod touch 4, he has obviously missed a few updates and now he can no longer update and he is stuck on iOS 3.1.1. I was wondering how many updates must be released before I can't update my iPad any more. I will eventually update to iOS 7 but I don't want to wait to long and then I can't update at all!!! So does anyone know how many updates I can miss??

Your frlend can always update the latest version supported by their device, which is iOS 6.1.3. What they can't do is update to anything before that.
The same is true of your iPad. You will always be able to update to the latest version (currently iOS 7.0.3) but not anything before that. What that means is that your choice is to stay with iOS 6.1.3 or update to the current version.
