How many ESR's in your landscape

Hi Services Repository Experts,
we have CE and ECC and PI.
PI is our Services Repository.
Question, in our landscape, if we have
Development Line  (for CE, ECC, PI etc)
Quality Line  (for CE, ECC, PI etc)
Regression Line  (for CE, ECC, PI etc)
Production Line  (for CE, ECC, PI etc)
How many Services Repositorys is it good practice to have ?
eg, All non-Prod systems use the DEV PI as SR
and
Prod systems use the Prod PI as SR
or
every line, Dev, Quality, Regression, Production, every line has its own unique SR serving
only that layer of the landscape ?
Does anybody have any insight into good practices in this design.
Thank you and kind regards,
Petr.

Hi Trevor,
great academic answer thank you.
Ok, to be precise, I am talking about the Services Registry, ServicesRegistrySi  which we setup in Customer Proxies in CE.
Currently we have set this configuration up in our Development CE and connected it to the Development PI system.
My question is,
for each layer of the landscape:
Dev CE -> ServicesRegistrySi  -> Dev PI
Quality CE -> ServicesRegistrySi  ->
Regression CE -> ServicesRegistrySi  ->
Production CE -> ServicesRegistrySi  -> Production PI
Are you saying for the CE Services Registry config in CE Consumer Proxies ServicesRegistrySi   do we have one PI as Services Registry for all Non-Prod Landscape all Non-Prod CE's connect to the same PI for Services Registry  and then use Prod PI as the Services Registry for Prod CE ?
Many thanks for your very detailed answer.
Kind regards,
Petr.

Open the iBooks app. All your iBooks should load there.
You can see the file size for each iBook by clicking List from the menu bar top of the iBooks window.

  • How many NWDI's in your SAP Landscape

    Hi SAPpers,
we have a reasonable size SAP landscape and our developers do a lot of WebDynPro developments for Portal.
We are now beginning to integrate CE with NWDI too, but that's a separate story.
My point is, in our SAP Landscape we have ONE NWDI installed.
We've just had basically a system down for NWDI for the last 10 days and it has shown us what a single point of failure NWDI is, because, as we have only one NWDI, if it is down, Developers cannot work, and transports cannot be completed.
    Therefore, my question,
What does everyone else do about this ?
Should we have a second NWDI, as a warm standby, where, if we lose the main NWDI we then configure the tracks in the standby NWDI and get the Developers to work against that one while we fix the primary NWDI ?
Is there any guidance from SAP on how many NWDI's to have in a SAP Landscape to stop the NWDI becoming a single point of failure ?
Others, please be aware of the risks and consequence of only one NWDI in a SAP Landscape.
    Thanks and regards,
    Petr.

    Hi Pascal,
    thank you for your reply.
High availability of NWDI would not help the problem that recently happened to us, NWDI for various reasons stopped working.
Hence we need to think about some kind of warm standby NWDI which could be bought up in emergencies, have all tracks configured in probably 12 hours - for ESS etc and then become active while the main NWDI is being repaired.
NWDI is indeed a single point of failure on its own.
    Kind regards,
    Petr.

I want to know if anyone that I don't know is using my account. I wish I can see how many people is using it.

The answer to "How many people are using my iTunes account?" should be --- one!

  • How many of you put your name down for priority on launch day?

Hey, I was told the day before launch I would be able to get my Iphone with no reservation but when I got there they told me that they didn't realise their stock would be so low. Luckily I hadn't wasted my time they told me that they will place me in a priority list for the new stock of Iphone.
How many of you did the same as me? And have you had your email telling you to go and collect the phone yet?

I heard from my local Apple Store that they will receive the next batch of iPhone 4's in a week or two also.
    Did you get this email?

  • How many systems in Java Development landscape?

For our J2EE development, we have installed a system with the JDI that we also classify as our Dev system.  Our QA system would be the test system.
But in the setup of NWDI systems, there is Dev, Consolidation, Test, Prod.  Can the NWDI/Dev system also be the consolidation system?  We don't really want to introduce 4 systems because our development activity is relatively simple.  I'm still thinking with an ABAP/STMS mind and trying to make the assimilations of how we've done it in ABAP for 10 years can translate to doing the same thing with a Java development environment.

    Hi, Konfuzed,
Thanks for your inquiry. The Skype Mobile apps look a bit different.  In order for the Skype Community to help you, some more information would be helpful:
    - Hardware you use (phone/tablet brand and model)
    - Its operating system (version and updates installed)
    - Skype version used
    Thanks in advance.

  • Basic question - how many photos?

    Hi,
I have a ridiculously simple question about Aperture, but I can't seem to find out this piece of information anywhere. How do I find out how many images I have in my library? I know the solution must be trivial and staring me in the face; but sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees!
    Thanks,
    David.

"Photo" means different things in different contexts. Let's use the Aperture term, which is "image".
To find out how many images are in your Library, click on (and here Apple is not consistent) "Photos" near the top of the Library Inspector. The Tool Strip (below the Browser) will tell you how many images are selected, and how many are included in the current set. "Photos" shows you your entire set. Make sure there are no filters applied, and that Stacks are expanded.

  • How many minutes without loss in quality?

I started using iDVD in 2003. Back then, I was told that you can put up to about 80 minutes on a DVD without any noticeable loss in quality. Based on my experiences, that seemed to be a good rule of thumb.
Have there been sufficient improvements in the encoder to allow significantly more minutes at high quality? I use iDVD for archiving and don't want to come back years later and realize that the quality was compromised. On the other hand, I don't want to waste discs with over-kill (some misguided individuals think that 60 minutes is the limit).

    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned abo
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • Figuring out how many songs i have in itunes? (and ext drive question)

I am looking to buy a new ipod but am not sure about the nano vs the regular video one... we already have 1 video one, so i thought one of each might be nice, but the 8 GB nano only holds 2000 songs for the same price as a 30GB ipod...so, I would like to figure out how many songs we currently have in itunes in order to see if we are at the 2000 song mark already, but am not sure how, short of counting them (ugh!)
Also, if I purchase an external drive for itunes (and some photos & documents), how to know what amount of memory i need?
    Thanks!

There's a BIG difference between the iTunes application and the Music that you've loaded into your iTunes library.
Your music is normally stored in the Music folder which should be listed in iTunes>Preferences>Advanced.
By the way... you should be able to see how many songs are in your Library, as well as how much space they take and how long it would take to play them all at the bottom of the iTunes window.
