How many external floppy drives can be attached to a Macintosh Plus?

Assuming I don't have a hard drive attached to a Mac Plus, is it possible to attach two external floppy drives? That way, I can use the internal floppy drive for the startup disk, the 1st external drive for the application disk, and the 2nd external drive for a data disk so save files.
Otherwise, how can I save to a data disk without having to eject one of the other floppies?

So the way you used to do it was -- you write-enabled the System disk. When you went to save, you saved your data file onto the system disk. Then if you wanted to copy it to another disk, eject the Applications disk and insert another all-data disk where you accumulated all your data files.
The operating system was very forgiving, and would let you eject the system disk if you had to. So you really could operate these Macs with one drive, as long as you didn't mind swapping disks all the time.
Even the HD20 was a big step up from that. But a Mac Plus has a SCSI port, and you can add an external SCSI drive of enormous proportions. (An 80 MegaByte drive was about a $1000 item.) I think you can install up to about 1 GB.

  • How many external Firewire drives can I share at once?

I have several external hard drives connected to my server. I appears that I can only share 4 of them at a time. I work in a high volume photography environment and store about 2TB every three months. I need to be able to share multiple external hard drives all at the same time. Is there a limit on how many drives or share points I can share at one time?

As long as the drives have their own power supply (powered USB or Firewire 800 Hubs will do) they will run to their theoretical max which is more than several hundred. I think the Thunderbolt can be daisy chained out to a pretty large number too.

  • How many external displays does the 15 inch support?

I spend 90% of my time at a desk developing, using multiple monitors.  My current Windows system can support up to 4 displays, normally I run with 3.  I was wondering how many external displays one can hook up to the 2.3GHz Macbook Pro.  I need at least 3 displays while still having a thunderbold for external drives and eithernet.  Does the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter allow splitting the single to two different monitors?  Other then the Thunderbolt display, is there a way to get multiple monitors out of one Thunderbolt port?

From http://support.apple.com/kb/SP690 -> "Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors".
But there may be ways of driving three monitors - maybe someone with a Retina Display model will jump in. I know that on my 15" 2011 model, I can only drive two Apple Thunderbolt Displays.
    Good luck,

  • Can I boot my F30 from an external floppy drive?

I use Norton Ghost to clone a copy of my harddrive on my PC for use in disaster recovery and it requires a m/c boot from a floppy hard drive when I use Ghost. I want to do the same on my F30 but have no idea if I can can configure the F30 to boot from an external floppy drive. If it is possible can somebody please tell me how to change the boot sequence as I have no experience whatsover of laptops. Many thanks.

    Hello
I use Norton Ghost 2003 and I am very satisfied with it. It runs under windows and you can create image file on second partition or even create recovery DVD immediately without using floppy disc. I can just recommend it to you.
Back to your question: with your Qosmio model you can use floppy drive with follow part number PA3109U-3FDD. If I am remember well you can press U button just after switching the unit ON and the unit should boot using floppy drive as first booting device.

  • Can Time Machine back up a second external hard drive that is attached via usb to a Time Capsule?

Can Time Machine back up a second external hard drive that is attached via usb to a Time Capsule?
    I have a iMac with 10.7.4

I want to back up the data on the external Hard Drive that is attached to the Time Capsule to the Tim Capsule using Time Machine.
Thanks for the clarification.  Unfortunately, that will not work.  You will need to connect the drive directly to your Mac if you want Time Machine to backup the drive to the Time Capsule.

  • How many single role we can attach to single user?

    Dear Friends,
How many single role we can attach to single user?
    Sachin

    Hi Sachin,
The below parameter can be checked for this topic. Infact the limit is about 9000 for this parameter and typically i have seen ID's in 4.7 environment with around 150 roles or more...
    <b>Auth/auth_number_in_userbuffer</b>
When a user logs onto SAP, the authorizations contained in the user’s profiles are copied to a user buffer in memory.  The maximum number of authorizations copied is set by this parameter.  The size of the buffer must always exceed the maximum number of authorizations as authorization checks are made only against those in the buffer.
Refer to OSS notes 84209 and 75908 for more detailed information regarding changes to the size of the user buffer.
Transaction SU56 shows the contents of the user’s user buffer and a total for all the authorizations in a user master record.
    Hope this info helps

    Hi,
There is no known limit number of CAs.
    You go to
    Users and Identity Stores >
    ... >
    Certificate Authorities
And you can create for sure more than 100 CAs.

ITs an old Iomega 100gb external HD that has about 90gb of music on it. The Macbook has a 500gb HD. I would like to put the iTunes library on the internal HD so I have room to expand.
    Phil0124 wrote:
You can copy it to the internal hard drive as long as it fits on it. How big is your library, and how big is your internal HD?
The only thing you do not want to do is over-stuff the internal hard drive. The OS needs some space to operate correctly, so if your iTunes library uses up more than say 80 to 85% of the internal HD's available space it may not be a good idea to transfer it over.
With that said, the internal HD will provide slightly faster access to the library than the external would, but other than that, you can point iTunes to the external drive just fine.

  • External Floppy Drive

Maybe some of you older mac users can answer this question...
I've got a G4 mystic (gigabit)- I've been using macs all of my life, and I still have alot of games and things all the way back from system 4.0. I was gonna go on ebay and buy an old mac so I could run some of the old software, but I decided to try some of the games I had on cd's on OS 9.2.2 and they worked. Some of the games were even meant for system 6 and they ran perfectly. I was quite surprised! I was thinking I needed a new (old) computer to run the old OS's.
My question-some of my old stuff is on 1.4 MB floppy disks, and even on old 800 K disks. I know that if I get an external USB floppy drive I should be able to read the disks-but I am unsure whether the drives will read the 800 K disks. The specs on all of the floppy drives out there only mention their capability to read 1.4 MB disks. Does anyone have any experience with this or know whether the 800 K disks will work with the newer external floppy drives? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know this is quite a specific question, I may just have to bite the bullet and buy one and see. But I figured maybe someone was as nerdy as i am...

I have an external disk drive, SmartDisk,Floppy Drive- Titanium Edition, MD # FDUSB-TM. I used it to copy my old 400, 800, and 1.4 disks to my HD. it worked fine. I keep it around because every once in a while I get a floppy from someone for data transfer, i.e documents, photo's.

  • Is there a restriction on how many simultaneous wireless iPads can watch movies from one iTunes account or AppleTV generation 2 or later?

Is there a restriction on how many simultaneous wireless iPads can watch movies from one iTunes account or AppleTV generation 2 or later?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I find it hard to believe that this information isn't clearly available somewhere, but it isn't and I don't think I've seen anyone here who is 100% sure. However, I believe you can have up to 10 associated devices, which include authorised computers (of which you can have up to 5), I suspect the Apple TV might become a temporary associated device while it's in use, but I'm not entirely sure myself.

will TC appear on My desk top?
It will, if you do the following:
Open Macintosh HD and locate the Time Capsule icon under the SHARED heading on the left side of he window.
Click on the Time Capsule icon and a folder representing the drive will appear to the right
Double click the folder and the drive icon will appear on the desktop

  • How many Multi-Touch points can an iPhone/iPod touch have at the same time?

How many Multi-Touch points can an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad have at the same time?
I am curious as IIRC (but forgot where the article is on the Internet),
if a touch surface is wanted to be able to detect more than 1 touch point at the same time,
then that touch surface needs adding 1 more conductive(?) layer.
    (e.g. 2 points -> 2 layers, and so on)
So I wonder how many these layers are on the iPhone / iPod touch / iPad or even the trackpad on every MacBook (Pro).
    (correct me if I'm wrong)
    Just curious, thanks in advance!

I believe it can only support 2. This article explains how the touch screen works but doesn't explicitly say how many points is supports.

Yes, it can. Launch iTunes with the Option key held down and navigate to that instance of the library.

Just wanted to know whether the huge data is the problem. What do you think? How long does your code typically need to wait for the data to leave the magnetic platter of the harddisk, travel across wires and into the memory buffer of your application - for a single row?
Now multiply that waiting for I/O time with a million - for a million rows. Or by a billion, for a billion rows.
Is "+huge data+" a problem? Not really - it simple needs more work to get that amount of data from disk. More work means slower performance. It is that simple.
Which is why the row-by-row approach used by many developers is wrong. You do not pull a million rows from disk and process it in PL/SQL or Java or .Net. Heck, you do not even pull 10,000 rows like that.
The correct approach is to think data sets and use SQL to process that for you - and only return the bare minimum of data to the application layer. Maximize SQL. Minimize PL/SQL and Java and .Net.
