How many GB is an average movie?

I'm trying to decide which iPad to get; how many GB is the average movie. If I watch occasional movies, and have half a dozen books and some--not a huge amount--of music on it, what size do I need?

how many GB is the average movie.
This basically depends on how you encode your own content or what you normally buy. My content tends to range from 500-800 MBs for original 5th Generation iPod files to 8.24 GBs for an HD encoding of Avatar for playback comparisons on different devices/monitors. Basically, it is just a tradeoff between quality and quantity for most people. My advice, is to always buy the highest capacity device you can afford. In most cases you will find it still wont be enough by the time you are ready to upgrade to a newer device.

How many photostream pictures can I move to albums? I have moved some recently, but others do not go to the album. Could it be they are too old?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @redrebel40 ,
I read through your post about how you are wondering how many 4x6 photos you can print from a memory card with full ink cartridges. This is a very tricky question because it does depend on the quality/DPI of the photos. I am going to link you to some more information so you can read on ink yields and cartridge information. There is really no exact amount I can answer you with due to those factors that come in to play when printing photos or even documents.

I hope that offers you some help and gives you an idea about how much ink you will need.

  • How many files can the Finder move at a time between folders?

I have about 45000 files to move from one folder to another. Trying to do it in one jump by highlighting them all and trying to drag them froze the Finder.
What would be the maximum in a single jump?

I don't think it can move 45,000 files at once, in folders or not.
Finder seems to build lists of files to move (in memory), and does not behave well when the list gets too big.
I suggest you try moving them in batches of fewer than 4000 files at once.

  • How many restarts in an average day?

I am interested to know how often BT Broadband users find they need to restart the BT Home Hub, say each day?
I find that generally in a weekend, for example, I will need to restart the BT Home Hub at least three, sometimes five times, because broadband connection is apparently lost.
I usually connect to a couple of Mac OSX systems in the house but this loss of connection is at the BT Home Hub - although the blue indicators remain on.
    Thanks

I also have been having these problems. I have been keeping a tally of the number of restarts as it has got so bad in the last couple of days. I have reset 15 time today, which is quite frankly, ridiculous. I have followed the steps above and have changed the channel of the router so hopefully it will be ok, but I was wondering if the problem could be down to the number of wireless devices we have connected to the hub? We have 3 macs, 1 pc, 4 iphones, a xbox 360 and two 2 sky boxes. Obviously most of these aren't active all the time and so shouldn't be a problem. In fact before we upgraded from the homehub 1.0 to the 2.0 we had no, or nearly no problems, except during peak times when our internet would dip pretty badly. We live in central london and istumbler picks up 26 different networks (including a couple of BT openzones repeats), so could this potentially be the problem?
We were considering upgrading to the airport extreme base station (as it would also act as a time machine for all our macs), could increase the reliability of our wireless?
Also I read in a different post that resetting your homehub can causes the BT servers to think that our line is 'flapping' (whatever that means) and so reduce the bandwidth that we recieve or something. Is there anyway to stop this from happening?
I have had to reset the hub while writing this post, so it seems changing the channel has not been effective, but I will try some other channels...
EDIT: make that 2 resets while writing the post...

  • How many frames is the average animated card

I'm creating an animated holiday card for my company website and I am fairly new to Flash. What is the average amount of frames to use for this and should it be 24 or 30 fps?

The fps can be whatever you prefer - 24 versus 30 ... either is fine.
I doubt you will be getting an answer regarding the average number of frames in a card animation.  Animations can vary between 1 (code based)) and thousands of frames.
If you give a description of the animation you intend to create a guesstimate might be possible

  • How many bits are raw images?

    1. How many bits are images taken from a camera with a proprietary format? Are they 12 bit or 16?
    2. After making adjustments in ACR, do you bring the image into Photoshop at 12 or 16 bits?
    Thanks.

1.How many bits does the average point-and-shoot camera capture when shooting jpgs?
    2. How much of a visible difference is there between 12, 14, and 16 bit raw files?
    3. What do you mean by the are "opened into 8 or 16 bit precision based on the Camera Raw preferences"? Does this mean that some of the bits could be thrown away if they are opened with 8 and it was taken with 16 bits?
    Thank you.
Jeff Schewe has answered the question about bit depth of the raw capture, but one must realize that noise in the image limits the effective bit depth of the capture, since it does not make sense to quantify the signal from the sensor in steps finer than the level of noise in the image. These considerations are discussed in an excellent article by Emil Martinec:
    http://theory.uchicago.edu/~ejm/pix/20d/tests/noise/noise-p3.html#bitdepth
Some of the newer high end dSLRs offer 14 bit quantization, but the gain in levels is often negligible because of noise. P & S cameras are much noisier than high end dSLRs and their effective bit depth in terms of the number of actual levels that can be perceived in the rendered image is open to question. There is a loss of levels when one goes from a linear raw space to a gamma encoded space such as Adobe RGB. Bruce Lindbloom's levels calculator can calculate this loss. The reader should try a few values with the calculator using the bit depth of the camera and a gamma of one and a gamma of 2.2 for the aRGB. With Photoshop, use a bit depth of 8 or 15, since Adobe uses a bit depth of 8 or 15 in Photoshop, effectively halving the number of levels over what could be obtained with full 16 bit output. However, for current cameras, this is of no significance.

  • Approximately how many full length movies can a 30g ipod video hold?

Approximately how many full length movies can a 30g ipod video hold?

Most of the movies I have are around 450 mb. So for a 30 gig iPod you should get around 60 movies. I use Handbrake to rip movies for the iPod on my mac and Cucusoft to rip them on my XP machine. The size is user selectable and averages around 400 to 500 mb.

  • How many times can you watch a rented movie in iTunes?

Title describes the question. I'm thinking about either buying or renting a movie in iTunes, so question is how many times can you watch a rented movie? Just once? X times within a given timeframe? Thanks,

You have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (elsewhere) after you've started viewing to finish it. Once the rental period expires, the movie will disappear from your iTunes library. Happy movie watching!

  • On average, how many times do you have to restart ...

Ever since I've been using the E71 (less than a month, a new set), I have to restart it about thrice daily. Mostly, the problem occurs while connecting the phone to the PC (Windows 7) when the USB connection type selector on the phone (which appears when you connect the cable and asks for which mode to connect in) freezes; but some other times, just about any application (including the built-in ones) decides to take a nap and the only way to get it back is turn the set off and then back on again. And as soon as that is done, the app icons are all moved back from the customized folders to the folder "Installations" - very frustrating. I'm afraid of restarting this phone as lots of settings and app icons revert back to the defaults after restarting and I've to go through them again. But at the same time, there seems to be no way to make a stuck USB connection type selector work again without restarting.
Well, from my experience here, I know this particular problem has no solution. (Even if the process is ended using an external app manager, it hangs again on starting the app. This continues until the phone is restarted.) Therefore, I'm not looking for a solution here, although one will be welcome if you've undergone the same and have found a workaround. I just wanna know if you do also have to restart your phone. (I also have one Sony Ericsson and an iPhone; I don't generally need to restart them as long as I don't want to restart. At my current place, however, a Nokia phone is all I can use.)
So, do you have to restart your phone when you don't actually want to? If so, on average how many times a day (or a week)? This will help me determine if the problem lies with the phone or it's me who's doing something differently. Is there something you need to do regularly or often (like connecting the phone to the computer) and that operation generally results in a restart of the phone? Thank you for your response.

Yes I have apps installed on the SD card. Shifting them to the internal memory is not really an option (would leave very little free space over there which would then cause other problems). Besides, if the phone allows you to install the apps on the card, shouldn't they work from there? Yes, they should.
Without the card, there will be no custom apps and the phone would be almost useless (will turn into a basic device used to make calls and send text). To me, this is not an option. Also, I don't see how it would solve the problem automagically after some time.
The card doesn't seem to be faulty. I tried to connect the phone without the card inserted and it got connected alright for two times but the USB mode chooser froze the third time, just the same as with the card inserted. So a new card is probably not going to solve the problem.
Must be something strange happening here. Maybe it's due to the apps installed on the card rather than the internal memory, but I just cannot install all those apps within that limited space.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm waiting for more members' experience to come to any conclusion.

  • How many times can I download a movie from iTunes?

I recently purchased some of the movies offered in the bundled sales and am curious how many times I can download them.  Will they always be in the cloud, or do I exceed a limited number of views or downloads at a certain point?  I suppose if I did exceed a limited number of views from my Apple TV, or downloads from iTunes to my computer, I should then back them up.
Thanks for any guiance you guys may offer!

If you are in a country where you can re-download films, and if the studio allows re-downloading, then you will be able to re-download them as many times as you like - but there is no guarantee that they will remain in the store (studios occasionally remove them), so you are better off keeping your own backup copy of them (and similarly with your other downloads) rather than relying on them remaining in the store

  • HT204370 How many times can I down load the same movie to my iPhone so I don't have to store on my iPhone ?

How many times can I download a purchased movie to my iPhone, so i can delete and re-download each time I want to watch it?

It will depend upon whether you are in a country where films can be re-downloaded (it's not possible to re-download them in all countries, and even where they can be, not all film studios have agreed to it), and if the film remains in the store (film studios occasionally remove them) - if you can re-download it then you can do so as many times as you like.
But it's probably better to keep a copy on a your computer and on a backup so that you can re-sync it to your iPhone as/when you want it.

  • Is there a restriction on how many simultaneous wireless iPads can watch movies from one iTunes account or AppleTV generation 2 or later?

Is there a restriction on how many simultaneous wireless iPads can watch movies from one iTunes account or AppleTV generation 2 or later?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I find it hard to believe that this information isn't clearly available somewhere, but it isn't and I don't think I've seen anyone here who is 100% sure. However, I believe you can have up to 10 associated devices, which include authorised computers (of which you can have up to 5), I suspect the Apple TV might become a temporary associated device while it's in use, but I'm not entirely sure myself.

  • How many movies can you rent on an apple tv at any one time

    just trying to find out
    1. how many movies you can rent and store via apple tcv at any one time
    2. when you rent a movie through apple tv where does it get stored or downloaded to

I'm not aware of any particular limit, but I suppose there could be one.
Rentals are streamed and not persistantly stored locally.

  • On how many devices can I download and watch a purchased movie

My teacher in school is looking for the cheapest way for all of our class to have access to a movie we are studying. I would like to know how many devices can be linked with one itunes account, so if our teacher created an account and purchased the movie could all/some of our class download it from icloud and watch it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello honor7,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please see the following information for the limit of devices that can be associated with a single Apple ID.
Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it, with a maximum of 5 computers at any time.

  • How many thousands of Apple TV users have to scream their complaints before Apple will respond to the fury over the impossibly slow download speeds of movies bought through iTunes??????

How many thousands of Apple TV users have to scream their complaints before Apple will respond to the fury over the impossibly slow download speeds of movies bought through iTunes?

As jules says, your rate (currently at least) may be slow.
If it used to be good I wonder is your ISP is slowing ('throttling') your speed after you've used so many GB of a quota each day or month - check what they think you should be getting as a download speed.
While Apple's servers do occasionally play up, it's generally the ISP being slow not Apple.
If you're using Google's DNS servers that has caused issues for some.
Recommended speeds for near instant playback:
    SD         2.5Mbps
    720p      6 Mbps
    1080p    8 Mbps
Is your speed test from somewhere like speedtest.net?
It might be helpful to post Mbps to ensure we/you are not confusing speeds by using different units to those measured.
