How many hard drives can i stream from one mac for apple tv

Hi a newbie to all this ive got a 500gb external hd and running out of space but am looking to buy a 1tb but i want to set it up as im using both hard drives so i get 1.5tb as this is a cheaper option for me is this possible and how
many thanks for your time

You need to turn off the option to copy content to the iTunes folder in iTunes preferences, then when you add new content to iTunes you will need to place the content on one of the HDDs and then drag and drop it onto iTunes from a finder window.
Or you can alternatively leave the "Copy" option on and simply press the Alt-key when dragging and dropping content to momentarily suspend the "Copy" of the dragged content to the library. (I.e., iTunes will gladly manage both copied and non-copied content as long as you do not move or delete the non-copied files at the Finder level after adding them to the iTunes database.)

  • How many hard drives can i install in my mac pro

How do I know what size hard drives I can install?  I currently have 4 x 2TB drives installed and am looking to go bigger.  4 x 4TB would be ideal and if you have suggestions on which drives might give me best performance for HD video editing that would be nice too.
Also can I install more RAM?
ere is some information to help.

  • How many hard drives can you put in a pavilion p2

Can I put one or two more hard drives into a Pavilion p2 1122? Is there a particular spec or physical size that this must be?
    This question was solved.

Your HP Pavilion p2-1122 Desktop Computer only has space for one hard drive in it... the one installed at the factory. The only way to add any more drive internally, is to remove the CD/DVD and use that space, or to fabricate and install a drive cage... room permitting.

  • How many hard drives can i install in a new 2013 imac 27"

    hi there,
i was just wondering if the 2013 imac 27" came with two hard drive bays?
when looking through the specs there no longer seems to be an option to have an ssd, as well as, a standard internal hd (only fusion drives/??)
is it possible for me to set the new imac up with, for example, a 250gig ssd and then a 1 or 3 tb storage drive?
    thanks in advance..

  • How many Hard Drives can a G4 DA Support?

Hi. I'm putting an old G4 466MHz Digital Audio to use as a file server but I want to make sure I don't over strain the power supply or something worse.
I currently have a Sonnet Tempo SATA card in one PCI slot running 2 hard drives (1.5tb and 160gb) as well as two IDE hard drives of 80gb. The book disk is one of the SATAs.
Would I be able to fit as many as 8 hard drives (2 per card x 4 cards) or would that be too much of a drain? Would it help if one of the IDE drives was used as the boot disk leaving all the SATAs for storage or would that make no difference?
    Thanks.

    Hi-
4 drives is all that the machine was meant to use.
One might squeeze another drive or two in, but more than power, the heat of the drives will probably be the problem.
Overheating a PSU makes reliable power production more difficult, and with multiple drives demanding that power, the problem compounds quickly.
It doesn't matter native ATA or SATA.
    All the drives pull power.
Go all SATA, and use 1.0 TB drives (or bigger) and you won't need 8 drives......

  • How do i deactivate my wireless mouse from one mac for another

I have two macs in our home.  My wireless mouse continues to sync with my other mac in a different room.  how do I make it so that it only syncs with the one in front of the computer I'm using?

To delete it from one machine you need to open the Bluetooth system preferences, select the device in the list on the left, and click the minus near the bottom.
On the other machine pair it either again using the Bluetooth preferences (this time using the plus near the bottom to add a device) or the mouse preferences (Setup bluttooth mouse).
Note you need to un-pair (delete) it first from the one the mouse is currently paired to before you can pair it with the other machine.

  • How  many hard drives can you stuff in the MDD?

I know Apple supports 4 drives, but I'm sure it's possible to shove more in, is there?
The G5's can stuff lots of drives with the little amount of space they have..

AJ must be using tri-focal lenses or those
    stereo-optical 3Ds ;-))
    Or an alternate reality.
Hey now, thats my hometown you are talking about!
    I have a 200, 2x80s raid, and a 30 in my MDD. Thats 4.
The 2x80s are in the front bays. The 200 & 30 are each on a single carrier in the bottom of the case.
The raid and the 200 are hosted by the Sonnet card. The 30 is on the motherboard.
If I trade out the flat carrier for H bracketes, I can get 2 more drives in there.
ummm...ok, thats 6, not 5. (public school math, what can I say? )
Now dump the optical drives, and you can have 2 more. You can connect them to the motherboard conroller (but they'll be slow) or add another controller card.)
So 8, assuming you have a 3rd party controller or two and a couple of 3.5->5.25 adapter brackets, a couple of Y power cables, and verify the power supply can feed it all, you can get up to 8 HDs in an MDD case.

  • How many hard drives should i get to get the most out of premiere on my laptop?

    Hello,
I have a 15 inch Macbook Pro Late 2013 with 512gb ssd, 16gb ram and 2gb 750m graphics card. I was wondering how many external hard drives i should get to get the best results in Premiere Pro and After Effects. I'm thinking about buying a smallish portable hard drive for cache and another for media. How many hard drives do you think i should get, what size they should be and how it would improve Premiere and After Effects please.
    Thanks Heaps

I agree with JFP...above.  But if you have a USB3 interface on that MacBook, you can also try using it as I have on my PC laptop
For simplicity on my PC laptop I would just go with a fast USB3 flash drive for the project and media files.  I have several PNY Turbo USB3 128GB units and have recently edited a 1-hour long three AVCHD camera shoot (not multicam mode) with perfect ease.  That way you do not have power cables from hard drives.  I suspect that the new SanDisk Extreme Pro will match those speeds below but at a much higher cost ($140 versus $50).  Never believe the manufacturers speed claims here are real achievable results on the PNY.
That read speed is better than most hard disk drives as it does not fall off as the storage device gets full, and the access time is significantly better despite significant USB overhead.

  • How many Hard Drives ?

I've been fortunate to receive a PowerMac G4 733mhz (Digital Audio) along with a Sony 20" CRT monitor at no cost and I'm looking to get all the performance that I can out of it.
So far I've maxed out the RAM and added an iogear USB 2.0 card along with a SIIG Utra ATA 133/100 Pro controller card. The Radeon 9800 pro video card is a couple weeks away yet.
I now have a 160gb and a 60gb as master/slave on the main board, and another 160gb on the controller card in which I'm adding another 80gb to tonight.
I am wondering how many hard drives I can add before I have to start worrying about the power supply. Keep in mind that I'm going to be adding the video card in the future.
I also see that SIIG card says OSX 10.1 or later, does this mean that I cannot connect a drive that boots into OS 9 to the card? Or a drive that may have Yellow Dog Linux?
Thanks, I'd appreciate any input about this new project of mine.

    Hi-
OK, let's talk power.... This is what we have to work with (may be slightly higher depending on PSU model):
    DA 338W PSU
    +5V=20A
    +3.3V=24A
    +28V=4.04A
    +12V=8A
    -12V=0.25A
    Total on combined +3.3V and +5V =126W @32A
Of course, there is a big difference between idle and load power consumption, but I will list maximum power consumption values. Various requirements are:
ATA/100 Hard drive- Read/Write, approx. 12.8W [email protected], [email protected]
Optical Drive- Full Speed (42x) read, approx. 5.6W [email protected], 15.7W [email protected]
Memory (per 512mb DIMM) 1-3W combined 3.3V,+5V,[email protected]
PCI and AGP slots combined max +3.3V, +5V=62W, AGP (only) up to 20W
    Firewire Bus 15W+25V
    USB Bus 5v@500mA per port
    733mhz PPC processor 1.6V 15.6W (Idle) 22.0W (load)
    Fans (combined) +12V [email protected]
As for the Radeon 9800 Pro, under full load, the power requirements are:
    +5V [email protected]
    +12V [email protected]
    +3.3V(AGP) [email protected]
    +5V (AGP) [email protected]
    +12V (AGP) [email protected]
Points to consider (no particular order):
-An ATA hard drive at idle, will still pull 7.2W and at Standby, will pull 1.4W.
-Unless you are running 2 RAID sets, you would rarely, if ever, have 4 drives simultaneously in Read/Write.
-One process that will push a system to the max is disc burning. Consider CPU at load, one, possibly two hard drives at Read/Write load, and the Optical drive at load. (For all who care, this is why we don't multi-task during burning). Without multi-tasking, the graphics power draw is minimal.
-Weak point of early ATX PSU revisions was the 12V rail. The G4 PSU also has a weak +12V rail (only 8A).
(Run a dual internal RAID, and try to burn a disc..... well, you better set the machine up as a headless server.....)
-Total combined +3.3V, +5V wattage and ampherage is sufficient for most fully loaded system and bus combinations.
-The power requirements of the 9800 Pro are all within the maximum limits of the various voltage rails of the OEM PSU.
-A 237W PSU equipped Sawtooth will run without problems with two hard drives (one system, one storage), a 2.0ghz 7447 processor, USB 2.0 PCI, Radeon 9800 Pro and AC VGA fan. Additional hard drive (scratch drive), PCI cards, HDD fans and lighting overload the +12v rail for operation at load with disc burning. (we're talking about real life experience here...)
-Hard drives are heat producers, and an external firewire connected housing can allow for better overall system operation by reducing interior clutter and heat production.
-High interior temperatures reduce the ability of the PSU to cool itself, and thereby reduce it's ability to produce reliable power under load, in the heat.
-Old ATA hard drives are power hogs and hot in comparison to current SATA drives. Switching to two larger SATA drives will reduce load requirements by 3-4W per drive, as well as reduce heat production. Required use off a SATA PCI controller card eliminates the capacity restriction of the native ATA controller. Switching to SATA saves space, power, and cooling needs.
-And, final (random) thought to consider, a dual 500mhz Gigabit Ethernet (same PSU as the DA) will run two ATA drives simultaneously, burn a DVD, with a 9800 Pro installed, without any problems whatsoever. The same machine will run 3D graphics intensive games at enjoyable framerates, without problem. Internet video, on line games, etc., are all enjoyable, with reasonable performance for the given CPU speed. All uses of the machine are without problem, with the added graphics benefit provided by the 9800 Pro (Yep, another real life experience).
    Now, you decide....

How many airport express can I add to my network for the purpose of using the airport express to send audio signal to different rooms in the house? I'm interested I'm running about six different zones.
What I'm looking to do is to have self powered in ceiling speakers in every room in my house with out having to run wires to every room to carry the audio signal. I would like to use the airport express to do the job of carting the audio signal.
Here's my set up now I have an airport extreme and one airport express that I use to carry audio to one room.

FWIW. I have used up to four AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) for streaming sucessfully in pretty much the way you have described. I didn't have a need to try more so I can't attest that more would or would not work.

  • How many 7920 phones can be supported on one Cisco 1131AG access point?

    hi all,
who knows that how many 7920 phones can be supported on one 1131ag AP? Thanks a lot...

    Hi Alomar,
    Hopefully this info will help;
Number of 802.11b Phones per AP
Before any discussion about network planning can take place, it helps to understand the basics of the overall network capacity.
The following network capacity guidelines apply to sizing the Wireless IP Telephony network:
No more than 7 concurrent G.711 calls per AP.
No more than 8 concurrent G.729 calls per AP.
Note These design recommendations assume that Voice Activity Detection (VAD) has been disabled on the Cisco 7920 Wireless IP Phones. Use of VAD on the Cisco 7920 phones can conserve bandwidth, but Cisco recommends that you disable VAD on all Cisco CallManager servers to provide better overall voice quality.
In addition to determining how much bandwidth is needed for an 802.11b VoIP call, you must also consider overall radio contention for a particular RF channel. The general rule is that you should not deploy any more than 20 to 25 802.11b endpoints per AP. The more endpoints you add to an AP, the more you reduce the amount of overall bandwidth and potentially increase transmission delays.
The maximum number of phones per AP depends on the calling patterns of individual users (based on Erlang ratios). Cisco recommends no more than 7 concurrent calls using G.711 or 8 concurrent calls using G.729. Beyond that number of calls, when excessive background data is present, the voice quality of all calls becomes unacceptable.
    From this doc;

    Hope this helps!
