How many hours does it take to get an HP printer up and running?

I am having a number of issues with my Deskjet F4200 All-In-One... the latest is I can't get the black cartridge to work -- thus no B/W copies. Is there an average number of hours consumers should expect to invest in getting this printer to work? I have spent at least 4 hours, and wonder if i should quit throwing good money after bad and simply toss this one and go buy something else.

If you are inside the USA, perhaps one week - double that wait if you live outside.

clintonfrombirmingham is right, there is no way to exactly tell. But from personal experience, a new battery on a 2008 will last for about 2 1/2 hours with a higher screen brightness and doing something taxing to the battery (like gaming or running lots of 3D programs). But if you're just listening to music with the brightness all the way down, and no programs running, you could get up to 12 hours. So for average use, it should last you a whole business day (assuming you don't use it more than 30% 0f the time). Hope this kind of gives you more of an idea of what to expect:)

so im planning to buy a white mb from apple online store, it says 5-7 days to deliver, but i have read some users to wait up to 14 days to get a MB delivered.

opened. The salesmen (several of them) told me then
it would take about a week before delivery while my
order statement said two weeks.
The machine came Federal Express (I didn't order
special shipping) from China within 5 working days.
It has run perfectly from the day I got it.
Good to hear that you are having no problems, Tim. I CTOd the same configuration (Black/120GB/2GB) last Tues and it will arrive tomorrow or Tues (shipped from China late Thurs and was in L.A .. via Anchorage and Indianapolis .. by Sat morning).
I'll dual-boot it so I can travel without this iBook plus a WinXP machine: One MacBook will be more workable.

How many hours of video do I get with 4GB or more on a memory card?

I'm going on a vacation for four days and I'm assuming I'll be recording around an hour each day. How many GB's should I look for in a memory card? I thought there would be some easy to find standards on this, but I guess I have to consider fps and possibly other factors like the type of camcorder or memory card. More specifically, I'm interested in the Kodak - Pocket Video Camera which records in HD, if I purchased an 8 GB memory card and recorded at 30 fps, would this suffice?

VGA is standard definition. You'll get a lot more time out of it.
Also, flash memory is currently $30-40 per 16GB card, not 80-100, depending on brand and speed rating. (The Transcend Class 6 cards I use in my HF100 currently sell for $40, and I'm looking at a Kingston Class 4 card for $30.)
Given the choice between a "cheap" HD camcorder and using it in SD mode (like some of the pocket units) and a "good" SD camcorder, I'd go with the good SD camcorder, like a Canon FS200 or one of Panasonic's flash memory camcorders.
Canon makes excellent units but unfortunately their FS series only offers electronic image stabilization, not optical image stabilization. For a standard def unit you may want to go with Panny.

You may need 2Gb free, at least on a temporary basis, to hold both the download file and then unpack the application.

I had a similar experience yesterday. The Apple email that I got said:
"In five to seven business days, a credit of xx USD should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase."
