How many install discs?

Trying to restore the software on my sister's Mac Mini, and can only find one install disc: (Mac mini: Mac OSX Install Disc 1). Are we missing other install discs, or is this the only one?
Other details on the disc:
Mac OS version 10.4.5
AHT version 3A102
Disc version 1.0
2Z691-5738-A

You need install disc 1 and 2. Install disc 1 contains the OS and disc 2 has the ilife applications and bundled software.

  • How many install's.

HI YA how many times can i copy logic 8 on different computers.I have 2 macs you see and want to no how many times i can copy logic 8 onto different macs.Plus if it got deleted of the hard drive if i could install it again without using up its installing lifes ,to speak of.

According to the license, you are allowed to install Logic on two computers, one desktop and one laptop, both of which you have to own (meaning you can't install on your desktop and your friends laptop).
If you need to reinstall it, or get a new computer, or your hard drive crashes, you can install it again. Just as long as it's installed only on two computers that you own and operate.

  • Am I on right track for 1st Bluray burn?  Getting concerned over how many 25gb discs needed......

    Hello
I am working my way through my own HD 1st edit with CS5.5.2.  Using tutorial book, on line support and a paid tutor.  It is for a 1 hour 40 minute project of an important event, 1st time for a client I want to keep.  Things are looking OK....I think.
Specifics:  Shot 1080i 29.97 35mbs 4:2:0.   I'm on OS 10.7.5  with 6 core 3.46 Mac Pro 48gb RAM.  Very happy with edit.  But have tried tests with 16 minute length exports of section of the time line to self contained QT.  All at max bit rate and quality.  And also at progressive frame rate at the suggestion of my tutor.
    Animation   156gb
    H.264           17.6gb
    mpeg 4           9.7gb
All look great!  But am I going to have to get 50gb discs to keep this at no more than 2 discs?  (preferably 1 if will fit on a 50gb disc)  Obviously 3 hour Lord of The Rings type movies do.
Not even sure as this is 1st time....if the internal LG 12x with Lightscribe (dvd only) internal drive that OWC put into it when they upgraded and built this machine for me on their "performance" side.......will even burn dual layer discs?  Now I can't find the exact skew number on it on their site that is on my invoice.  Do these in general burn dual layer?    Am I going to need dual layer if I drop down to 8 bit and whatever other recommended settings, that I am hoping someone here can please help me with?  I'm assuming from the above I need to use mpeg 4 settings and go back to 1080i 29.97 that the project was set up for.
    Thanks very much
    Ron

Jim.....I am confused about this MXF OP1a "self contained" format.  I took my test 16 minute portion of my main sequence as I have above with the other formats and exported to this format.  It said it was going to "4:2:2 50".  Which sounds great.  Better than it was shot....with the main Sony PMW 320 recording at 35mbs 4:2:0.  The encode was screaming fast, only about 5 minutes.  And the file was the smallest yet....only 7.31gb.  Great!!
How do I make a bluray burn out of that?  I tried creating a new sequence in my project and inporting this and dropping it on my time line and then trying the Adobe Dynamic Link process and it said it could not do that to Encore. Previously today I was successful using the Dynamic Link process just straight from that 16 minute section of my sequence time line.  And the burned bluray took only around 2.93 gigs and about 15 minutes.   It looked fine on a 61" LED DLP rear projection set.
But as previously mentioned I don't want to keep the entire project files on my drives once I am done.  I need a high quality self contained version so I have the archived copy, and can also burn from it additional copies down the road if needed.  How do I do that with this MXF OP1a file??  Will it look as good as the disc I got directly from my 16 minute test portion of my edit?
Again, this is all new territory for me but I'm doing good and making great progress thanks to everyone's help.
    Thanks much
    Ron

Can I then use the Dynamic Link and auto setting that Ann is talking about
You can, yes.  Personally I prefer not to.  The transcodes get saved to the folder and it makes archiving more cumbersome.
Projects don't have 'settings' any more.  You can have any number of dfferent sequences in the same project.  But yes, you'd not change the sequence settings.  MXF OP1a would be an export option for archiving.

  • How many install disks are in FCP 5.0?

I just ordered a new macbook pro and have to install my FCP on it. However I think my install disks are not complete and I only have the Motion 2 disk. Is there a Motion 1 disk? I can't remember.. please let me know!

If you're going to be running an IntelMac, you'll need to upgrade at least to version 5.1 (universal version) for it to run properly.

  • How many install/restore disks should there be?

Okay, in my MacBook box there is only 1 install/restore disk? I didn t bother to check before until now.

Probably. Nevertheless...after I've unpacked everything i plan to read every piece of literature front to back.
That doesn't mean you cannot be helpful here. People come here for help and most people here are pretty helpfule and curteious. Perhaps forums in the windows world are more casutic and you can project an attitude but this apple forum is reallly good because of the helpful people. Lets try to keep that going without copping an attitude.
btw as noted the manual really doesn't say anything about two disks so telling the to RTFM is even more pointless.

  • How many install will "Tiger" allow?

    Greetings all,
Quick Tiger question. Is their a limit to the number of times you can re-install it? By that, I mean on the same mac. I was just curious if one day I ws going to try a re-install after breaking something and the computer was going to tell me that I had run out of installs. Probably a really dumb question but I'd like to know.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris;
Back when I still had my G4 MDD I also got an SATA drive and a Firmtek card. My plan was to use it to extend the life of my G4 so that I could get a G5 at the end of last year by using it for my project files.
After doing my testing I changed my mind and decided to move my OS and appls to the SATA disk instead. It was much faster then my old ATA drives. The way I moved everything over to the new SATA drive was SuperDuper. I simply created a clone and the booted from it. It was very easy and straight forward.
For my project files, I decided to create a RAID 0 Array with the two drives which gave me nearly the same performance as the SATA drive.
This configuration worked very well until I got my Quad in December.

  • How many discs should I have for OX 10.3.7?

How many install discs come with OX 10.3.7? I'm wondering if I am missing one because I can't seem to find Safari on my disc and I need to reinstall it. I only have 2 discs Mac OS X Install Disc 1 and Apple Hardware Test AND 2. Mac OX 9 install disc. All the other apps like iPhoto etc seem to be on that first disc but not safari?

    dstephendesign,
    In another of your Topics you posted;
"I have 2 discs for my Mac mini: 1. a Mac OS X install disc 1 and apple hardware test (mac os verion 10.3.7) AND 2. a Mac OS 9 install disc. "
    "Mac mini
Mac OS X Install disc 1
    and Apple Hardware Test
    Mac OX version 10.3.7
AHT version 1.0
disc version 1.1"
That is a Model Specific system disc, and can only be used on the Mac Mini.
Is that the Panther 10.3.7 disc you are referring to?
If so, which one of your Macs listed below, are you using the disc on?
    iMac iBook Mac Mini
Do you have Panther 10.3.x installed on all the Macs?
Was Panther pre-installed, on them when manufactured?
If not, did you use the Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, to upgrade them?

  • How many copies of osx lion can you install from one itunes account

How many install can you ut into efect from one itunes account with osx lion?

    elstgav wrote:
I believe it's five.  It's tied to how many computers you can authorize with one iTunes account. (The same applies to music, apps, and other stuff downloaded from the iTunes Store)
The iTunes, 5 computer limit does not apply here.  As per the license agreement, if you obtain Lion via the Mac app store, you are granted permission to install on all Snow Leopard Macs that you personally own/control.  If you have Lion pre-installed on a new Mac or obtain it via a USB key purchase method (reportedly coming in August), the license only permits use on one Mac.

If it's a white disk with 10.6.3, technically as many Mac's that came with 10.6.3 or below that can run 10.6.
    Legally, only one.
If it's a grey disk, then only the same model of Mac, as there are no hardware drivers for other Mac models on the grey disks.

  • How many times can I use a Windows 7 disc in Bootcamp?

    Hello,
I want to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro via Bootcamp, but I am wondering how many times I can use the Windows Install disc. Currently, I have one MacBook Pro, and in the near future, I will be getting an iMac. Now I want to be able to create a Windows partition for each of these computers, but I am wondering if I will be able to use the same Windows Install disc, or activation keys, or whatever. So can I use a single Windows Install disc on two different computers to create two fully-functioning Bootcamp partitions?
    Thanks for any help.

yes an activation pair the serial nr with a guid from the hardware one install it on so it can only be activated 1 time
(if ones computer dies then one have to call ms to be able to use the serial on a new computer)
if one does not activate windows it will stop working after 30 days or so

  • On how many computer can I install Premiere Elements (one licens)

On how many computer can I install Premiere Elements (one licens)

    number
What are the computer operating systems involved? Are you installing from installation files (from online download purchase) or from installation disc
(from purchase in boxed packaging)? Answers to those questions would probably get you the best possible answer to your question.
    If installation files.....
You are not going to be able to install a Premiere Elements Windows purchased serial number on a Mac computer or a Premiere Elements Mac
purchased serial number on a Windows computer.
    If installation discs...
Box packaging typically comes with two installation discs....one for Windows and one for Mac. In this type of situation, typically you use one
serial number for them both. If that is the case, then the following applies...
Adobe allows you to use the same purchased activated serial number on no more than 2 of your computers. And, you do not use them at the same time.
If you are dealing with two computers with the same operating system, then you should be able to use that same purchased serial number for that operating system on no more than 2 of your computers. Again, you do not use them at the same time.
Please let us know if any questions or need clarification.
    Thanks.

  • How to boot from install disc and do a clean install

No one tells you that you can't restore a TM backup that was done on Mountain Lion 10.8.2 to a new hard drive with Snow Leopard. After many hours with Apple Care yesterday, they were foxed.
I want to now do a clean install on my new hard drive (installed yesterday by an Apple Care serviceman) using my Snow Leopard install discs (10.6.3). How can I do this?
After I have done a clean install, I will set up the iMac and upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.8, which will give me the App Store, where I can upgrade to Mountain Lion and then attempt the restore from Time Machine.
I am just uncertain how to do a clean install.

Would you find a way to tweet or post the following info so that other iMac users who need their SeaGate HD replaced don't go through hours of headache before they get this information?
    RE: iMac HD replacement.
If your TM backup is on Mountain Lion and your startup discs are Snow Leopard (or earlier) do NOT restore your  backup after new HD is installed!
First, update OS to Snow Leopard 10.8. This will install the App Store. Note: it will take about 20 hours.
When you have the App Store in the dock, install Mountain Lion. Note: again, about 20 hours.
After ML is installed, restart holding down the option key. Select restore from TM backup and select your data.
I was told by Apple Care that ML makes changes to the HD, thus installing a backup to a previous OS will not function properly.
You can create a bootable backup of ML to a flash drive or DVD when you buy it. Good idea as Apple is not making install discs now for new OS versions.
