How many Installs Can I do from a Snow Leopard Retail Disk?

I have an old Snow Leopard Retail Disk (10.6.3) that I used a few years ago. Our Macs have mostly been upgraded to Lion since then, but we still have a 2007 iMac running Leopard and want to run some legacy third-party software. We need to upgrade that iMac from Leopard to Snow Leopard, then upgrade via system update to 10.6.8 in order to run the legacy software.
I know we used this Snow Leopard retail disk to upgrade one computer to Snow Leopard already, and we might have used the disk to install Snow Leopard on an external hard drive as well but I'm not sure as it was a few years ago and that hard drive may have been archived and placed in storage.
My question is, is there a limited number of installs that we can do with this disk? Do we need to first uninstall Snow Leopard from one computer before we can install it on another?

Unlike Windows, the DVD or CD versions of the Mac OS (Snow Leopard or earlier) have no serial number, or even keep track of how many times you've installed it. It's all on the honor system of following the license you have, which as mende1 noted, is either a single computer license, or five in one household (not shared with friends or relatives).
Lion and Mountain Lion are a bit different. Macs that came with either OS have a machine specific version (for the necessary hardware drivers) and cannot be shared, other than with a 100% identical Mac. The App Store versions are intended for Macs that were released before the respective OS's, and contain only the hardware drivers for the Mac models they are listed to support.

You can download and install it as many times as you like but you must activate it in order to use it.
You can only activate the software on a maximum of two computers at any one time.
You can deactivate on a computer via Help > Deactivate and re-activate via the same step.

The only restriction on tracks purchased from the iTunes Music Store, which is what I presume you're asking about, is playback on a maximum of five computers at any one time and burning a specific playlist containing a purchase track up to seven times. There's no limitation on how many times you can transfer to an iPod. Tracks you import from your own CDs have no restrictions (other than legal) at all.

Hi all. My university in Japan got me CS5 through volume licensing in Japan. I am asking my question here because it is easier for me to work in English than Japanese, and I don't suppose there is much difference between policies here and there. I am wondering if there is a limit on how many times the software can be downloaded from the site. I believe there is a limit of 2 computers, so I assume I can download it at least once more for my laptop, but I was wondering if I can uninstall it once from my iMac, and download it again (for reasons too boring to go into here). Anyway, can I just download it again and again? I am not up to anything dodgy here, by the way. I only need it for two computers, but it would be good to know this for a couple reasons. For instance, suppose I install it on my MBP, then next year want to install it on a newer laptop. Can I uninstall it on the MBP, then download and install it on the new machine? Thanks in advance.

No, I wasn't planning on doing this as a backup plan, or even doing many times. Just wanted to do a new install on my iMac, and wanted to know if I can install on my MacBook Pro now, and then uninstall it from that MacBook Pro next year so that I can install it on a new notebook. By the way, how can Adobe afford to allow people to download as many times as they want? How can they control it then?

Actually it's usually the other way around; if you attempt to sync your contacts on your computer and your Address Book is empty it will sync the empty contacts from your Mac to your phone, resulting in the contacts on your phone being deleted. As long as you have at least one contacts on your Mac, when you initially sync you should get a Merge or Delete prompt for contacts. Choose merge and the contacts on your phone and on your Mac will be merged and the merged contact list will be then be on both.
Another approach you can take if you're concerned about this is to enter the two contacts you have on your phone in Address Book on your computer, then without connecting your phone, open iTunes on your computer and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone and go to the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings, check Sync Contacts, then further down under Advanced...Replace Information on this iPhone, check Contacts. Then click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone. This will replace the contacts on your phone with those in Address Book on your computer. (You can also open Address Book and go to File>Export>Contacts Archive before doing anything and save this on your desktop as a backup in case something goes wrong.)

Booting from a Snow Leopard Retail dvd

I have a 2009 iMac that came with Leopard installed. I later purchase the retail Snow Leopard disc with I believe 10.6.3.
I want to reformat my iMac HD and reinstall a fresh copy of Snow Leopard so I can move my Mac Pro data over to it, but it doesn't load the Snow Leopard disc when I reboot and hold the Option key.
I've upgraded to 10.6.8 and was wondering if that was the problem. I have used the original Leopard Install discs to check the drive and corrected a few errors with one pass. Should the iMac be able to boot from the SL disc? Not being able to read the dvd, I can't even attempt a .dmg image to mount, even if I knew how. I've read numerous posts with other users not being able to boot from the SL retail disc.

Hi! I was curious, because I heard from a friend that if we wanted to transfer a song on our computer we had ripped from an audio imported CD to a blank disc, or external hard drive, there was a certain number of times we could transfer that particular song or transfer that CD, before iTunes would no longer allow us to transfer it anymore. Is this accurate? Is iTunes equipped to only be allowed to transfer iTunes Store content to blank discs or other non-Apple devices, as opposed to non-iTunes Store content (i.e. songs from audio CDs that were imported into the Mac)?
If it is accurate that there is a limited number of transfers that can be done via iTunes with non-iTunes store content, is there a way around this? Possibly install another music program that allows unlimited transfers to blank discs and external hard drives, i.e. Windows Media Player?

There is no limit for CDs you have RIP'd.
For iTunes purchases with DRM, you are limited to burning a specific playlist 7 times to an audio CD.
And the link posted above is three years old and irrelevant at this time.
Just don't "share" (illegally transfer) files with others.
