  • How many Instances can I install on one machine?

    Hi Folks,
Do you know how many oracle instances I can install on my Win OS machine.
I already have three different instances. Typically how many instances Oracle recommends to setup in one machine to ensure performance improvement?
I use Oracle 9 and oracle10g both. In fact, Oracle9 in Solaris and oracle10g on win.
    Regards,
    Amir

In general, it recommends one instance per server
in a production environment, for a variety of
    reasons (maintainability, backup/recovery, easier to
tune, better use of resources). If you have 100 productives databases, it is very probable that you won't be able to have one server per database.
Again, it depends on your number of users, processors and ram... But if you 16G ram and 16 processors, you should well be able to able to have 20 databases with not too much activity.
The number of 20 here means truely nothing. I admit. But recommending one instance per server is not ok.
Many applications require to have a separate database. It is the double administration necessary, but it is better than the troubles generated when 2 software vendors are sharing the same db.
For development, I have some systems with over 50 instances running with 16g ram and 8 cpus.

  • EastWest Symphonic, LA Scoring Strings - How many instances can you run?

Hi - After investing in a new quod core recently and been really depressed by the performance I'm getting I wondered whether users of EW Symphonic Orchestra and/or LA Scoring Strings, Vienna Symphonic etc... could share with me how many instances they can load and run in a mix.

    Hi,
    i understand your frustration
Below is a list of the things I had do to to make my system usable:
    1. Turn Airport & BlueTooth : OFF
    2. Apple System Preferences:
Energy Saver: Set Computer and Hard Drive to: Never Sleep,
Software Updates: Check for update: Uncheck
    3. Logic Preferences, Audio , Devices:
    I/O Buffer Size 512
    Software Monitoring: OFF
    Process Buffer Range: Large
Audio Units Manager: Uncheck all AU plugins not being used!
    4. Logic Preferences, Audio, General:
    Track Mute/solo: CPU-saving(Slow Response)
    Sample Accurate Automation : OFF
    Plug-In Delay Compensation: OFF
    5. Assign ALL tracks thru Buss's, See Link below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3161
    6. Keep a muted audio track in the arrange page and have it selected
LOgic uses additional CPU power if a midi track is selected
    7. Keep at least 50gb or more of free space on the hard drive
    8. Run the freeware program Mac Janitor
    9. Do not run any other programs during the Logic Session. Close all programs not being used.
    10. VERY IMPORTANT! Restart computer to flush ram. Do this each and every time you reload your Logic Sequence.

    Hi,
On unix/linux use: ps -fea|grep pmon
This will show all pmon process running (Each one is an Instance and you will see the name of the Instance here too), you can also check on /etc/oratab all the oracle databases in the server.
On Windows go to Control Panel, Administration, Services and take a look on the Oracle services.

  • How many instances does EM support

    dear experts,
I am using EMCTL and it opens one of my database instances ie. oracle2. but what if I want to open anthoer database instance? I tried to open another database instance, but my first instance was logged out. kindly tell me how many instances can simultaneously be opened?

You can setup grid control for either RAC or single instance databases. Setting up a grid control is not something that can be detailed in a single post, so I suggest you to refer to this manual -->

  • New instance for every request to Servlet

I want to create new instance for every request to Servlet ...
I am running my servlet on weblogic

    Hi!
what functionality can there be that has to be put into init()?
    Another idea:
why not include your needed functions in a private method within the servlet and call this method from init() and from doPost/doGet so it is processed any time the servlet is called?
btw: more instances of the same servlet seems to me as going back to the roots (cgi).

    3k to 4k means 3001 to 4000?
Assuming this is true you need 3 sub alerters. Use the between operator to compare your values.

  • Minimum How many dimension required for FDM integration Script

    Hi Gurus
I have only 2 dimensions in my SQL Table name dbo.ABC (Example: 1.Entity 2.Account and amount(data value)
    Example:
    USA, SALES, 50000
(Including value its total 3 dimensions)
How to export this data to Target HFM Application.
Integration Script got success when i click on validation it is shows only 2 dimension 1.Account 2.Entity. i have mapped correctly. but validation screen not showing anything. i got gold fish for validation button and Export is also showing success and got goldfish. but no data is exported to HFM application.
in FDM outbox its created a file which is containing only *!data* text. There is no record in this file.
I want to load the data with rest of the dimensions with [None] member combination as i don't have the additional dimensions in my source file.
Minimum how many dimension required to export the data from FDM to HFM?
    regards
    Taruni

    Hi,
I came to know, at least one member from the source file should be there in the integration script then only we can assign at least [None] member or any member for the target dimensions.
My source file having only 3 dimensions ( USA,Sales,Amount)
    1.USA,2.Sales,3.$50000
    Import Screen Dimensions:
    1.Source-FM-Entity
    2.Source-FDM-Account
    3.Account Description
    4.SourceICP
    5.SourceCustom1
    6.SourceCustom2
    7.SourceCustom3
    8.SourceCustom4
    9.Amount
In the integration script its taking the values as
    Source-FM-Entity(0)
    Source-FDM-Account(1)
    Account Description
    SourceICP
    SourceCustom1
    SourceCustom2
    SourceCustom3
    SourceCustom4
    Amount(2)
above it shows only 0,1,2 numbers are assigned to source dimensions.
As my source file having only 3 Dimension so it is taking only 3 dimensions shown below. rest of the dimensions it is not showing in the import screen.
    *0.Source-FM-Entity,1.Source-FDM-Account,2.Amount*
If i assign any values(3-9) to next dimensions or if I left blank rs.fields("txtAcctDes") with its showing below error messages:
Error: An error occurred importing the file.
Detail: Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.
    At line: (39 and 42-46)
So i have assigned Source-FDM-Account Number<font color="Blue">(rs.fields(1) </font>Value to rest of the dimensions in my integration script.
    <font color="Blue">rsAppend.Fields("Account") = rs.fields(1).Value</font>
    rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("ICP") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD1") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD2") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD3") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD4") = rs.fields(1).Value
Now am able to import the data into import screen, And i found all the above member names as Sales as i assigned Account dimension number(1) to these members temporarily to succeed the import process . Then i have mapped to Target dimensions with [None] member combination as these members are not in original source file. Then rest of the process Export and Check is done perfectly.
*<font color="red">1.Am i right?? Please suggest me the correct process?</font>*
*<font color="red">2.Can we use blank values in Integration Script as mentioned below??</font>*
    rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields("txtAcctDes").Value
    rsAppend.Fields("Account") = rs.fields("txtAcct").Value
    rsAppend.Fields("Entity") = rs.fields("txtCenter").Value
    *1.Added value*
    Example: rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields("1").Value
    *2.Blank Value*
    rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields("txtAcctDes").Value
*<font color="red">3.As per my observation system is not accepting blank values in integration script. Please correct me??</font>*

  • How many connection opened for webdynpro java

    Hi,
I have 2 webdynpro java application. The applications sharing  the same backend function module.Could anyone tell me
How many connection will be established when the same user wants to open 2 different application but these 2 application shares the same function module.
    Thanks
    Kanai

    Hi,
In webdybnpro ,each Model in an Application utilizes a seperate Connection. If u create JCO connection pool for the User then while connecting to backend
1)The JCO connection pool Manager will open a new connection pool and opens the first connection.
The next available connection from the pool is allocated to the model object.
2)The model object is now able to invoke the required functionality in the ABAP system.
    3) When the connection is no longer required by the application, it is returned to the pool.
    4) The connection remains logged on to the backend system until either the next application
request is received, or the connection timeout is reached.
    5) If no application requests arrive before the timeout is reached, the connection is flagged
    for closure.
Note:-If an Application contains 2 models which are connecting to same ABAP system then second Model can be told to share the same JCo connection used by First model This is done by calling its setConnectionProvider() method.

  • How many egift cards for one order?

I had emailed customer service asking how many egift cards could be used for one online order, and I was told you could use 5 per online order, and 10 in store. But then I saw this link in the customer service catagory, and it says you can use 10 gift cards per online order.
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/gift-cards/pcmcat203400050004.c?id=pcmcat203400050004
Can I use 5 or 10 gift cards for a online order? I have 7 $100 gift cards I want to use to make a online purchase. Thank you.

    Hello stephanielynett,
Thank you for posting your concern on Best Buy Unboxed forum. Ready to use the e-gift cards that you have been saving from Birthdays and special occasions, and not sure on how many can be used in an order, can have an impact on how you place your order.
To the best of my knowledge, the most updated information is found on the link that you shared on this forum. You should be able to use to 10 e-gift cards per order.

  • How many SQL CAL for bpc 7.0 Microsoft

    hello
customer asks how many Microsoft SQL Client Access Licenses he must buy to use SAP BPC 7.0 SP3 Microsoft (100 users).
As there is not any more direct access from Bpc client to SQL or Analysis services, I think 1 CAL is enough.
Could tell me if I'm right ?
    Thanks.

    David,
Don't you think your remark was rather uncharitable? It is true, there are a lot of people trying to mooch off of others' kindness (and as long as there are willing folks complying for whatever reasons, it is not going to change anytime soon), when it comes to hardcore technical details about a product, lot of people are at a loss as to how the things work (yours truly included -  i have worked in SAP space for almost a decade and i couldn't tell you their licensing details - I never needed to do that to discharge my role as a functional consultant). I think Remy did indicate the thinking behind the question which is much more than a lot of folks do when they ask you and others to just e-mail some document etc....
I am sure you would concur.

  • How many Objects created??

    Hi Friends,
I am really confused with this question, can someone please tell me how many objects would be created by the following code??My answer is two("java" on the heap and the normal new String() Object),am i right???
    public class Objects{
    public static void main(String[] args)    {
        String one = "Java";
        String two = "Java";
        String three = "J" + "a" + "v" + "a";
        String four = new String("Test");
    }Thanks

Probably not, since all the operands are string
literals. The compiler probably sees that and instead
generates the same bytecode that it would have if it
had been coded as: "Java" in the first place. But
again, still stupid and pointless.just what i wanted to say but was a bit slow. maybe it's stupid and pointless,
but for grins, i am attaching the constants pool from the class file that was
obtained by compiling the code in post 1 with Sun's compiler. I don't see any
