How many iPods can I link on my laptop?

I'm thinking of buying a second iPod and wondered if anyone knew if I'll be able to have two separate music libraries on my laptop?
Thanks in advance.
Thomas

You can have as many iPods as you want.
You can have separate libraries for each of them, but there is no reason to do so.
A single iTunes library can sync to multiple iPOds with no trouble at all.
If you want different songs on each iPod, then you can simply make separate playlists for each iPod and tell your iPod to only sync specific playlists. Much easier than having multiple libraries.

  • How many devices can I link to my I-cloud/I-match account?

I have an I-cloud and I-match account with all my music on, most of which consists of my own cd's copied onto it.  I've just bought my mum an iPod nano 6th generation for her birthday and I want to put some music onto it for her so it's all ready to go.  I'm aware I can't put music I bought from I-tunes onto her device but can I copy my copied cd collection onto it for her?  I have 4 Apple devices already linked to my account.
I'll be copying from a MacBook Pro to her device, then the rest of the time her downloads will be added on a Windows PC.  Is this possible/legal?  How many devices can you link to one iTunes account?
    Many thanks.

    For the main question:  http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/.
You can authorize up to 10 devices on iTunes Match.
An iPod nano is not a device that works with iTunes Match so any music you put in it will have to go through itunes. Which means yes, you can put music you've bought from itunes on her device, as well as your imported music. That iPod won't count as one of the 10 devices either because it will not be using iTunes Match.
Your plan might not go so smoothly if you plan on synchronizing the ipod to two different libraries.  You'd be safer importing any music you want to share with her from your library to her computer either by downloading with your own Apple ID or through another media (DVD,  external HD...) and authorizing.  And yes, this is legal, but you may only authorize a limited number of computers with your Apple ID:   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Unless you have DRM still haunting your tunes ... Then you can only use those songs on 5 devices. Otherwise, connect as many as you like (as stated above).
No, you can sync your DRM tracks to an unlimited number of iPods (but only authorized to play on 5 different computers/user accounts)

So I can sync two iPods to my iTunes account and sync the same digital copy movies that come with some o' my DVDs to both ipods? Do movies make a difference really, DRM-Wise? Thanks in advance.

How many iPods can one sync with an iTunes account ? I have searched the net and there are many different posts but none conclusive. So was wondering if anyone here had a clear idea on that.

But how many ipod can I sync with only one iunes store account?
    None.
iPod don't sync with an iTunes account.
iPods sync with iTunes on a computer.
You can have 5 computers authorized to play songs/movies from one iTunes account.
Each computer can have 5 iTunes accounts authorized.
An iPod can have music/movies from 5 different iTunes accounts.
Note that this only applies to iTunes purchases with DRM, which is movies, tv shows and older iTunes music. All music now purcahsed is DRM free.

  • How many devices can I link to AirPort Extreme?

How many devices can I linked to an AirPort Extreme.  It seems that whenever I have more than 3 devices (all iPhone and iPad), I can't link the fourth one.

The answer will depend on the type of modem that you have connected to the AirPort Extreme.
If the AirPort Extreme is connected to a simple modem, then it will act as the main router for your network. In that case, the AirPort Extreme will support up to 50 wireless devices and 150 wired Ethernet devices.
If the AirPort Extreme is connected to a modem/router combination device....also known as a gateway.....then it is your modem/router that determines the number of devices that can connect to the network.
If you are unsure of what type of product you might have, post back with the make and model number of the device that you call your "modem".  (We do not need a serial number for the device).

  • How many iPods can listen to iTunes Content?

If I have 1 instance of iTunes running on my PC, how many iPods can I connect to the PC and pull playlists from? (i.e. - I have 1 pc running iTunes, and I have 3 different iPods... will they all be able to work and listen to the music I have purchased?)

There is no limit to the number of iPods you can dock to 1 computer. I use both my video iPod & shuffle on 1 computer. You are confusing the limit of 5 authorized computers to play purchased content from the iTunes store which has nothing to do with the # of iPods.

  • HT3819 How many Ipods can I sync to a single computer?

how many Ipods can I sync to a single computer?

iTunes is limited to authorizing only five computers with each iTunes account. This means that you can only authorize five separate Mac or PC computers or user accounts to playback protected iTunes content or use Home Sharing using a single iTunes Account.
For example, if you have created five different user accounts on the same computer, and have authorized iTunes for each user account on that one computer with the same iTunes Account, then you have reached your maximum number of authorizations.  This is also true if you have used that one iTunes Account on the same user account on five different computers. Basically, each iTunes Account can authorize up to a maximum of five instances of iTunes.
You can deauthorize computers or accounts at any time following the instructions found at Apple’s support website. Once you have iTunes configured with a single  iTunes Account, there is not no limit to the number of iPods, iPhones, and iPads one can sync to a single iTunes library.

  • How many iPODS can you download your music library to?

I've purchased 3 iPODS over time and have downloaded from my iMAC to each.
Is there a limit to how many iPODS I can download to? On the last one I got a message saying I only had one more left. These are all legal purchases. Why is there a limit?

    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
"* iTunes DRM-protected music includes audio with a bit rate of 128 kbps and allows users to transfer songs and videos to up to five computers, burn seven copies of the same playlist to CD, and sync to an unlimited number of iPods.
iTunes Plus music refers to songs and music videos available in our highest-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding (twice the current bit rate of 128 kbps), and without digital rights management (DRM). There are no burn limits and iTunes Plus music will play on all iPods, Mac or Windows computers, Apple TVs, and many other digital music players."

  • How many iPods can be registered to iTunes?

Currently two shuffles and one iPod are registered to iTunes. I'm about to acquire two Nanos.
Somewhere I recall reading that iTunes would allow only so many iPods/Shuffles/Nanos to be registered. Is there a limit to the number of units that can be registered?
If there is a limit how does one deauthorize one of the units? The iPod is NG, so it is the one that will be deauthorize. The two Nanos have not been registed. Can someone please explain the procedures?
      Windows 2000

    No limit.
You do not authorize iPods, only computers.

  • HT5622 how many devices can be linked to one apple id?

does anyone know how many apple devices, iphones and ipads, can be linked to the one apple id?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can authorise up to 5 computers.
You can associate up to 10 devices.
Associated devices include authorised computers and mobile devices using iTunes Match, Automatic downloads and those used to download previously purchased content.

  • How many airports can i link in tandem?

No problem with setting up wireless network; everything seamless and coverage is good in core area.  however, want to expand coverage.   but when i attempt to add another airport (extreme or express) to the network and link the new device in tandem with with an airport extreme that, itself, is already linked to the primary airport extreme at the modem, i run into trouble.  airport utility allows me to select the tandem device as the primary link, but hangs after that at "configuring your existing wireless network devices to allow it to be joined".  doesnt matter where the tandem device is located or whether it's an express or extreme.  All devices are latest generation.  So, the question is:  is it possible to make more than one tandem link with airport?  if so, i'm missing?

I'm not quite sure what you are asking, (maybe a "relay" function?) but perhaps an explanation of how the "extend a wireless network" setup operates will answer it for it you, to let you know what can and cannot be done.
The "extend" setup works like the hub and spokes of a wheel.
Your "main" router is the "hub" and each device that "extends" is located at the end of a "spoke".
You can have multiple spokes, but the device at the end of each spoke communicates directly to the "hub"....not to another device at the end of another "spoke".
