How many models of A1082 23" Cinema Display did Apple make?

I bought a used replacement cable which was described as "Apple 1082 23" Cinema Display Monitor Cable". When it arrived it appeared to be identical to my original cable, so I proceeded to install it. Everything was perfect until I got to the very last connector. It was too large, having one more socket (15) than I have pins (14) on my last connector.
My monitor is aluminum and has "Cinema HD Display" printed on the back, which I believe is Model Number M9178LL/A. Apparently there is at least one other model, which has an almost identical cable and is also A1082. I would be surprised if it is the plastic one, which I recall having very different wiring.

Thank you for the response. I can confirm that the monitor is running at 1920x1200, and that it is not being mirrored. I should mention that the display is actually quite sharp, but there just seems to be a speckled overlay of sorts, across the entirety of the screen. I suspect that it is an antiglare coating, but it seems unusual; especially for a monitor in this price range.

  • How Can I Get an 23" Cinema Display to work with a MacBook Pro 15"?

    A 23" Cinema Display (M8536) will not display with and adapter connected to a MacBook Pro 15" (mid 2010). Adapter used is Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter. What's wrong?

    They removed the audio input, starting from your model, you will need an USB interface, there are may, and it depends on how high of quality you need.
    This works for most applications, unless you are trying to record "music quality"

  • How to connect my old 20in Cinema Display to my thunderbolt new MacBook Pro?

    Hi everyone, I just brought a new MacBook Pro to replace a older model(brought earlier 2010), and a new thunderbolt Cinema Display. I have a old 20 inch LCD Cinema Display all the way from 2005 and brought a mini display port for my old MacBook Pro, worked just fine. However with the new Thunderbolt Display, I noticed there's another thunderbolt port behind and was thinking to connect my old Cinema Display as a secondary monitor. I've brought a thunderbolt port from amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KB0EGC/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1 ), but my old monitor still shows black. What did I do wrong here? Thanks!

    So currently there are two displays and you expect there to be three?
    Can you swap the displays just to make sure there is nothing else wrong?
    That is confirm:
    1) MBP -> Display A works
    2) MBP -> Display B works
    Then try:
    MBP +-> Display A

        +-> Display B

  • How to connect 3x mini-displayport cinema displays to Mac pro

    I'm looking for recommendations on how to connect 3  27" Apple cinema displays to a new Mac Pro (single card).
    2 connect direct to the mini-displayports; but which adapter converts DVI-D to mini-displayport (not mini-displayport to DVI-D)?
    Any suggestions/recommendations with a link would be appreciated.

  • How can I know if a Cinema Display 22 inch ADC is dead ?

    Hi,
    I bought a 22 inch ADC Cinema Display for my PowerMac G4/400 (Gigabit Ethernet). I upgraded the PowerMac with an ATI Radeon 7500 graphic card and a Sonnet 1Ghz processor. I'm running 10.4.9 and have the latest ATI driver for the card.
    When I plugged the ADC cable, the computer started but the display didn't light up. All lights are off and the USB ports are not powered. If I unplug he PowerMac, plug the display and plug the PowerMac back, I can't start it using the power button (on the display neither).
    I checked and rechecked my PowerMac and Cinema display specs and requirements and everything should be compatible. Is my Cinema Display dead ? How can I know for sure ? Are there any drivers I must install ?

    I'm having a similar problem, only it's recurring on several Cinema Display monitors on different machines.
    One thing we have been able to figure out is that the problem appears to be the power brick. By repeatedly unplugging and wiggling the power cord at the brick, the monitor will eventually come back on... until you restart it.
    This is VERY frustrating for such expensive monitors (not to mention being Apple products). I suspect the problem lies with faulty power bricks, and I'll be following up with Applecare to see what they have to say about it.

  • How can I use my 23" cinema display with a pc laptop?

    I see various questions out there about using Apple Cinema Displays and PCs, but each one has its own twist. If anybody can help with this scenario, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    I use one of the last editions of the Powerbook G4. I just bought a 23" Cinema Display and, of course, love it. It is supposed to replace an old CRT monitor in the home office, which brings me to my problem. Can I hook up a pc laptop to use with the Cinema Display (I ocassionally need the pc laptop and my wife and kid use it as well). I realize it will depend on the graphics card. Offhand I'm not sure which one it is, but the Dell is just shy of a year old and has good graphics, albeit VGA. I need a female DVI (I assume DVI-I) and a male VGA connector. Do these exist? I'm also looking for a PC Card DVI-I graphics card, but I don't know if these exist either.
    I could buy a Dell (or some other brand) monitor that has both DVI and VGA connections, but I really want to keep the Cinema Display. It's gorgeous.
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards.
    Powerbook G4 15" Mac OS X (10.4.5) 23" Cinema Display

    Phil,
    Thank you for the reply. I kind of figured this was the case. I have found two "boxes" that supposedly handle this problem. One is from Dr. Botts called Vgator and the other is from Gefen (www.gefen.com), but these solutions are very expensive -- $300 each -- and I am not certain of the quality of the picture. For that kind of money, I could buy a cheap PC monitor and just use the Cinema Display for Mac-only needs, as it was intended.
    Take care.
    Dan.

  • How can I connect my 24" cinema display to a mac book pro retina HDMI output?

    Hi folks,
    I would like to have a macbook pro retina running three external displays (this is technically feasable):
    2 times a 27" Cinema displays through thunderbold ones (connecting them to the Thunderbold output, daysy chaining them)
    1 time a 24" Cinema display through mini display port (connecting it to the HDMI output as the resolution matches on both ends 1920 x 1200)
    Any idea which adaptor I would need as most of them are only working one way (the wrong way!..)?
    Thanks for you numerous inputs ;-)

  • HT4614 how do I connect a mac cinema display to a mac mini

    Is it possible to connect both an Apple 30" HD cinema display and an Apple 23" cinema display to a Mac Mini and use both as dual monitors?

    Yes with the current Mac Mini.  Connect the 23" to the Mac Mini's HDMI port with the HDMI to DVI adapter that came with the Mac Mini.
    If the 23" display uses ADC (Apple Display Connector)
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
    you will also need a DVI to ADC adapter.

    Connect the 30" display to the Thunderbolt port with a Mini DisplayPort to DUAL-LINK DVI adapter.

  • How do I connect a mac cinema display to a dell laptop with VGA output?

    I need to connect my coworkers Mac Cinema display to his Dell Laptop with VGA out, running Windows 7. We have a VGA to DVi adapter, but it doesn't work. Do we need a different adapter or a driver? Thanks.

    DVI-I offered by most computers has support for up to a wider-than-1920 Digital display AND a complete set of VGA signals in it.
    If you have an adapter from DVI [computer] to VGA [display] it has no conversion logic in it and should be called a VGA extractor. It will NOT work the other direction.
    I think what you need is a better computer or a worser (VGA) display.

  • How to connect Macbook to 23" Cinema Display

    I just bought a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter to connect my Macbook to my Cinema Display 23", but I am realizing this adapter is probably not what I need as the Cinema HD Display has a different, larger connector that doesn't match the other end of my adaptor. I was wondering if someone could help me understand which cables to buy.
    Thank you!

    Your 23" Cinema has a DVI-connector, so the adapter you're looking for is a Mini-DVI to DVI adapter.
    The cable form your Cinema should look like this: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/graphics/infolib/homelib/dvi_connector600.jpg
